I had to take a screen shot, put it in photoshop, get rid of the slight sepiatone, change the image to CMYK, fuck with the curves and other shit, and finally found out it was this towel

Bialetti - stove top espresso maker - you'll never need to buy an expensive coffee maker ever again.

Leuchterm 1917 journal for my bullet journal

6in Ruler to go with my journal - fits in the back pocket perfectly

Huhuhero Color Pen Set also to go with my journal -- has every color you'll need and has a really nice thickness. I use a finer tipped Staedtler for writing but these pens are perfect for titles and decorating and under $6 can't be beat

Customizable dog tag

Ahava Dead Sea Bath Salts - for a luxurious bath that won't dry you out

Ramekins for all of your baking needs. It's also fantastic to use for cooking (holding onto spices, separating eggs, etc.) and for serving dips.

Dog Toy Basket - adorable, holds a ton of toys, and looks really chic in my apartment.

Salt and Pepper Mill Grinders - pretty and functional

Bath Overflow Cover - get your water higher for a more satisfying bath

Bath Spa Pillow

Grippy Stand - the BEST stand for any size tablet.. I have two of them they're so good

Hotel Spa Cotton Towel 4 Pack - smallish bath towel with so many uses. I leave then by the front door to wipe the pup's paws.

Popin Cookin 9 Pack - the MOST FUN you'll ever have 9 times over

Tons and tons and tons of books - look under the "available for less money" links for "used" paperback versions that will make them super affordable and they usually come nearly brand new!

the "iON" in the third line is actually a word. On the left you can see that this is a "ion Dryer".

But it's also japanese, so don't read too much into the actual sense of the word structure.

The only thing I can't quite decode is the "cl" at the end of the third line. Apart from that it's supposed to say "happy time ion hot hair dry care"

u/heres_what_happened · 9 pointsr/DontPanic

So, I did a little reading on this before some travel, and ended up buying a couple candidates - bought one that was a technical type cloth (microfiber quick dry thing), and a Turkish bath towel. After trying them both out, I highly recommend a Turkish style bath towel (Pestemal). The one I bought is [here] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AINBQRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jk4gAbKN3MGTC), but any similar one would be good.

This is absolutely, 100% a great choice. It's so thin you can take it everywhere, it takes up no space in your bag. It's a little weird to get used to it, because of the thickness (it's a bit like toweling off with a T-shirt), but the tradeoffs are worth it IMO. It dries super fast, it's very soft (and only gets softer as you use it), and as mentioned you can take it anywhere. You'll be the hoopiest of froods in no time.

u/abarinov · 7 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I ended up having something similar to this in my bathroom. You can find a good linen bath towel on Amazon for around $30. You will never ever have lint with these, I promise.

u/vidoardes · 6 pointsr/CrappyDesign

FYI It's Japanese, it's an Izumi Allure DR-RM35 and you can buy one here in a blue too.

Even with that, I still have no fucking clue what it says.

EDIT: Further Googling suggests that it is a "Negative Ion" hairdryer which has three modes:

  • QUICK Dry (90°C)
  • Hair Care (60°C)
  • Cool

So my guess is "Happy Time Ion - Hot Dry - Cool - Hair Care" (hyphens my emphasis)

EDIT 2: An English link, which doesn't really help. Claims it has a cryogenic mode ??

>• Splash and Go vs. Stones that require soaking

A matter of taste, mostly. Splash and go means that you can apply water to the surface of the stone and begin sharpening immediately, soakers need to be soaked for a few minutes (half an hour at most). Some soaking stones need to be dried carefully or they may crack. If you don't have a lot of storage or counter space, splash and go will be more convenient.

>• Synthetic Stone vs. Natural Stone

For a first stone, you only need to look at synthetics. Natural stones are inferior to synthetics in the coarse and medium grits. Arkansas stones can make for good finishers. Japanese naturals are expensive and esoteric.

>• Fine Grain vs. Coarse Grain

Fine stones have smaller abrasive particles, coarse stones have larger ones. Fine stones tend to be denser and less porous. Coarse stones tend to cut faster, but it can be difficult to form a sharp edge using a coarse stone alone, thus the popularity of 2-grit combination stones. Most people start sharpening on a medium grit (~400-1200 grit) and finish on a fine grit (~3000-8000). The coarsest stones (80-300 grit) are mostly reserved for repairing damage to the edge and grinding large sections of the blade. Different stones, even those with the same grit rating, may grind at different rates and produce different finishes due to differences in the way they were manufactured (type of abrasive, type of binder, heat, pressure, scale used for grading, etc.).

>• Wooden Base vs. No Base

Again, personal preference. If the stones are to be kept permanently soaked, stones without bases are preferable. The stone with which this comes up the most is the Suehiro Rika, which many people prefer to keep soaked.

>What makes a quality whetstone?

Uniformity of scratch pattern, resistance to clogging, resistance to dishing (becoming concave), rate of grinding, auditory and tactile feedback. Dense stones are almost universally preferred, but it's difficult to generalize beyond that.

>What should influence my decision to purchase one over the other?

Budget, availability, the types of knives being sharpened. Knowing your boyfriend's temperament. Is he patient? Is he careful with his knives? Does he drop things all the time?

I use a King Deluxe 300 and a Shapton Ha no Kuromaku 2000 for most of my sharpening. Both are splash-and-go and very dense ("hard"). I have a dozen or so other stones that I don't use nearly as often.

Suehiro's vitrified stones are among the most user-friendly and least fussy. Almost all of them need soaking. The SKG-24 is a good combination stone on which to learn.

Naniwa makes a huge variety of stones, most of which are good. Their QA-0124 is a splash-and-go stone, although the fine side works better after a brief soak, and even then it dries out quickly. These stones can crack if soaked and then dried unevenly.

King KW-65P is a good, traditional soaking stone. It goes out of flat more easily than some of the newer types of stones but it's a nice size and easy to maintain. The KDS is also widely liked.

Imanishi/Bester can be all over the map. I like their Arashiyama, Latte, and Tamago stones but not so much the Besters. They make a lot of stones that are resold under other brand names. I suspect they're behind this combination stone, which I like—splash-and-go and wears slowly.

All the above applies to Japanese "waterstones" (I don't like that term). "Oilstones" (I also don't like that term) like the illustrious Norton India can also provide good results, and are less demanding in terms of maintenance (flattening, drying, etc.). There are also diamond plates—I like EZE-LAP and ATOMA the best.

Edit: Fixed links.

I'm not your girlfriend, but I want this towel.

I love microfiber towels. They dry fast, and help the other clothes in the dryer dry fast when doing laundry.

I've been using this one for the last few years.

It's cooked pies, bread, cakes, cookies, all sorts really.

Random recommendations from a sophomore in college:

Adidas Shower Shoes - These things have been great. They dry nearly instantly and are adjustable.

Zojirushi Travel Mug - If you drink coffee and would like to have access to it throughout the day, this is by far the best travel mug (and has many recommendations here on BIFL).

Water pitcher - Assuming you will have a fridge (you might not), having access to cold water can be surprisingly convenient. Even if you don't have a fridge, if you don't have a sink, this will be a lot more convenient.

Towels - This is more of a personal preference. For me, department store-bought towels are too soft and absorbent. I found that mine never got totally dry, and replaced them with Turkish peshtemal towels (like these ones from Amazon)

Computer monitor - You will use this all four years, I guarantee it. If you get a big enough one, you can also use it as a TV when friends are over.

Laser printer - do NOT buy an inkjet. You will go crazy when it conveniently runs out of ink before your lab report is due. Brother makes good laser printers. Wireless is nice, but probably not a necessity.

Some kind of noise cancelling headphones - doesn't have to be active noise canceling. College dorms can be noisy. Having a good pair of over-the-ear headphones can be nice, even if you just listen to white noise to drown out your roommate.

Things I didn't need:

A TV - nice, but not necessary

iPad - I don't know why anyone thinks this is necessary or why I have one other than watching Netflix in bed when I'm too lazy to unplug my computer.

u/mrdrummerperson · 2 pointsr/solotravel

I've heard bad things about the microfiber. Can start to smell bad, and the texture on skin isn't the best.
I carry a linen towel. Stays smelling good, and is super absorbent. I actually like it better than typical towels, plan on stocking up whenever I have a home again haha.

Edit: It's a full size towel, and rolls up to the same size of a pair of pants.

This one to be exact.

If you guys think this is cool, there is a small company that patented a wash rag based off this idea! Idk really how it works but all I know is you don't use soap on it as it's naturally sterilizing! It has some silver in it or something. It completely changed my face acne (and no I didn't get paid to use this I just have a personal vendetta against the corrupt ass soap companies for many reason I won't go into)

It's called a Norwex! They're pretty cheap (for how long they last) and they last ages.

hmm darn it; I know exactly what you mean by way of what you're thinking and I think that's what I want? lol

These are the two I'm struggling with: amazon basic washclothes in cotton or these brooklyn bamboo washclothes

I know this is such a stupid thing to stress over and I could just buy both and turn the losers into dusting cloths, but I'm tired of overbuying.

u/zapatodefuego · 2 pointsr/sharpening

You should really link the products you're talking about here.

I still have to ask who you are trying to convince. FWIW, I don't recommend the King KW-65 1k/6k but the kind of person you argument would apply to is the kind of person who wouldn't by the KW-65 anyways.

The stone in question is $28 on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/d/Sharpening-Stones/KING-KW65-Combination-Whetstone-Plastic/B001DT1X9O. That's half the reason it's recommended. The other half is that the "King" brand has many better and more expensive popular products and as such it's sort of like a household name among sharpeners and so people trust brand. Everything you are arguing for could be completely correct, but it doesn't matter because there is still a "cheapest option" be offered by King; being offered by that household brand people trust.

I usually recommend this Suehiro instead of the King since it's similarly priced and arguably better: https://www.amazon.com/Suehiro-Kitchen-Sides-Whetstone-Skg-24/dp/B000OZ6XMU

But none of that matters until it gets traction as a household name around here.

edit: For clarification, the reason I'm playing devil's advocate here is because based on your argument you seem to think that people are recommending the King out of malice or just plain ignorance. The former is most certainly never the case and the latter I think happens less than you might think.

u/philge · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

Something like these. They should have them in just about any kind of department store. It's really just whatever is the cheapest washcloth type of thing they have. That pack of rags I linked to is a 24-pack so it should last a while before you wash them.

The key is to not let them get too dirty. Use some kind of a cleaner that will kill bacteria to ensure that you are actually sanitizing your surfaces. I usually use one every 2-3 days, and usually wash a load of rags about once a month. I keep a sack of dirty rags, and then a sack of clean. When I decide that a rag is too dirty, I just grab a new one. Also, you have to make sure to store the dirty ones in something like a mesh bag. Since they will likely be damp when you're done, they will need to be able to breathe and dry so they don't get funky.

Also, you will learn to establish sort of a rag hierarchy. I use fresh clean rags on the kitchen counter. After they're no longer suitable for that, you can use them to clean spills from the floor, or the tub, or the outside of the toilet, etc. So, the rag that is too dirty for your counter can still be used for other things until the point where you toss it in the bag to get washed. I use tons of bleach when I do a load, so I don't worry about where my rags have been when they come out clean.

This has saved me a lot of money, and it's honestly how everything gets cleaned in the custodial industry. Of course, you could always keep paper towels around for certain things when you need them, but I just stopped buying them all together.

u/IanCal · 2 pointsr/funny

> Wet towels don't smell good.

Yeah, that's why you let them dry off.

> Also, Id rather not wipe down my body, specifically my face, with the same towel I previously dried my balls and ass with.

You know you could have two towels, right? Or even this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wow-Stuff-Ltd-PD-1001-towel/dp/B00080XPUY

I don't really see a problem with your skin. But getting into skincare is always a good idea, to prevent wrinkles and to improve/maintain your current looks.

Basically, you start with a cleanser. A good ingredient to look out for is "alpha hydroxy acid" cuz it gently exfoliates your skin, evens out your skin tone, and fades scars. This one's pretty good. It's not a bad idea to have cotton wash cloths to wash the cleanser off your face... it helps to remove the cleanser and is another gentle exfoliator (you never want to be aggressive with your skin). Oil based cleansers are good too, especially in the winter months when skin tends to be more dry... they do not strip your skin of its oil.

Then you put on eye serum, and face serum. Serums are like a concentrated dose of nourishing ingredients that penetrate deeper into your skin.

Then you put on eye cream, and face cream. A good ingredient to look out for is "hyaluronic acid", cuz it attracts moisture from the environment, and plumps up your skin, which smooths out wrinkles.
Very good idea to get a face cream that has SPF in it, cuz UV rays age skin quickly. UV protected sunglass will protect the skin on your eyes.

Masks are always a great idea. This one is good cuz it fades scars, and gives a nice glow for a few days. Simple clay masks are great too.

Good brands are Clarins and Bliss. The more money you spend, you'll probably get a better product.

TL;DR: Regimen: cleanser > eye serum > face serum > eye cream > face cream

I just buy in bulk from wholesale hospitality stores. Save you the trouble of having to break up a set when a guest breaks a plate or stains a pillow case with crappy makeup.

These are also lifesavers.

Some hosts swear by this makeup towel (which helps with laundry cause cosmetics are a bitch to get out)

I like to serve breakfast for my guests and make mini-quiches for them. This mini-pie baker makes individual quiches in 7 minutes and my guests adore them.

I bought myself this corkboard for the guest space - so that they can affix pins and show where they're from.

It's a towel! You can buy it on South Park's shop or Amazon. It's decent quality material but is a bit pricy (yet so worth). If you don't want to pay the full 30 bucks, there is a hand towel version for half the price which I'm going to get soon; no Towelie is complete without Washcloth beside him.

I got:
a working NES with Super Mario Bros 1, 2, & 3, Legend of Zelda (gold cartidge), The Adventures of Link (gold cartidge), Dr. Mario - with the original box!, Mega Man 2, and RC Pro-AM Racing
Posable Mass Effect 3 "Minimates" of ManShep, Ashley, Wrex, and Garrus
Figurines of Link from Phantom Hourglass and Zelda from Ocarina of Time
The Art of the Mass Effect Universe
Mass Effect Library Edition Volume 1
"POP!" figurines of Garrus and Grunt
Steam Gift Card (which has so far purchased Mount and Blade Warband and the Ghostbusters game)
Miniature Bat-signal (it works surprisingly well)
Venture Brothers Season 5 on Blu-ray

My birthday is the day after Christmas, does that also count? I got:
A sweet Hyrule map puzzle
Anamaniacs DVD (Season 1)
My friends sBruced up my batroom (or spruced up my bathroom for the pun intolerant) with a custom blue and white batman symbol bathroom sign affixed to my batroom door, a bat-shower curtain, a classic Detective Comics poster to go with my existing Dark Knight Returns (the comic) poster, a bat-toothbrush/utility holder, a bat-soap dispenser, a bat-rug, and a bat-towel (link also features my existing shower curtain holders).

Not sure if this counts, but I also got a kit to make a working ornithopter (I'm a giant nerd for robots and the like). I also bought The Last Unicorn for myself but I think that's probably cheating.

I am quite pleased...I may have yelled "I HAVE AN NES" five or six times...an hour...all day...

I LOVE YOU! Batman is my absolute favorite! I have a huge collection and I am always looking for more stuff to add. This is just part of my collection
Probably the most expensive batman thing that I have on my WL is this. Seriously one day I will own it and cherish it and love it .

I'm looking at houses right not and really would love for this to be done, plus i just think its down right..... awesome.

MY PARENTS ARE DEEEEEEEAAAAAD!!!! but if you ever want to talk about batman for hours and hours...I'm your girl :)

I'd use something like this. Cheap semi disposable rags. I reuse them for years, just wash in bleach as needed.

Babywipes tend to fall apart when used for serious scrubbing, then leave little bits of fuzz all over you.
