|name|Fatboy Slim|
|about artist|Fatboy Slim is a pseudonym of Quentin Leo Cook (b. 31 Jul 1963 in Reigate, Surrey - aka Norman Cook), an English big beat musician. Quentin Leo Cook was educated at Reigate Grammar School. He started a punk fanzine titled Peroxide with his neighbour Andrew Thomas and art student Ian McKay (formerly Laidlaw). Contemporary with his publishing activities, he played drums in Disque Attack (a British new-wave-influenced rock band) for which he later performed lead vocals. Yeah, I agree. And I know the others, I'm one of those who bought Why Make Videos :)
Another interesting one from Gondry is the video of Star Guitar by The Chemical Brothers.
This is a long shot, but you might be thinking about Fat Boy Slim - Essential Millenium. Although if I'm not mistaken that opening track samples Walter Wanderley - Summer Samba, rather than Astrud Gilbreto.
That or it could be the Fat Boy Slim / Paul Oakenfold collaberation Essential Selection. Who knows.
... down to $20.75 now . I finally snagged it

Here's the soundtrack from Tricky, at least.
The Avalanches on Amazon about a month ago. I'm still listening to it, especially during my gym workouts. Goddamn great album.
It's only $17 on Amazon.
It makes me sad every time Amazon asks if I'd like to buy it.

They are a popular band and they repress that record all the time. Amazon is pretty sweet for records if you are a student. You can sign up for the student advantage account or whatever that is called so a lot of vinyl is free two day shipping.
Let me see:
The only correct answer, is of course, Fatboy Slim, Greatest Hits.

? i was talking specifically about this album
amazon has price matched
Not a song, but probably the best mix I have ever heard by him. Not very well known either. http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Selection-Slim-Paul-Oakenfold/dp/B00004S7LD
Oh i'm old enough. I'll agree that while , at the time, It would have easily be considered the greatest trance mix, I think that quite a few mixes beat it in the 1996-2002 years, namely the above mentioned (sash and dig, oakenfold) and I would also say:
Tiesto : Magik Two
Dj Micro, Tech Mix 2000
And probably -James Holden - Fear of a Silver Planet
Presumably this is cheating a bit
And an excellent electronica band
