Without a doubt the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive in either high pressure out high volume model depending on your tire type. It's like a portable floor pump, works great, only pump I carry. Comes with under bottle cage mount.

Blackburn AirTower 2: At $40 on Amazon, pretty sure I got it for less at the LBS. The pump head has separate openings for Schraeder and Presta, so no reconfiguration is needed. I've had it for years and used it with both valve types - no problems.

Actually I have heard about this and you don't see a lot of talk about it. I don't have tubeless but I wonder what people do if they get into a real bind with no pressure in the wheel, out in the middle of nowhere, with a hand pump, and they are alone.

I was under the impression you need a compressor or a pump that has a canister built in for them like this: https://www.amazon.com/Special-Tubeless-Bike-Floor-Gauge/dp/B071G6127N

How legit is your statement?

Anyone that knows well care to chime in? Cause I don't, but am a Curious Guy...

500 I would get this http://www.archerairguns.com/QB79-PCP-Repeater-p/qb79pcprepeater22.htm and this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LJ7XCDO . I can vouch for both and it makes an incredible 50 yard plinker or garden gun. You can do it a bit cheaper if you buy the gun, the tank, and the multishot kit and assemble it yourself. Mods galore as well for this rifle.

If you want to do it properly you will need a proper pump! I got this one which is great value for money and is even cheaper now.

>What make and width do you use?

35c front, 40 rear. I use Schwalbe Mondials because I like doing a mix of gravel, and dirt roads on top of my pedestrian asphalt routes. They're excellent, and seemingly indestructible! :o)

>What is too wide/too narrow?

No such thing, and it's limited by your bike - there are guys touring on 25c, and guys touring on fat bikes. Too thin a tyre will obviously cause some trouble on gravel and mud, so it all really depends on your route, and what you like to do for fun.

>Has anybody experimented with solid tubes? (Thinking mostly for the trailer)

I have, when I was young, and stupid enough to believe the marketing bullshit. They almost killed me too...

Here's what the bible has to say on the matter

I've been dragging a BOB trailer for the past few years. In that time, I've seen only one puncture. The tyre on a trailer isn't holding a lot of weight, and on rougher terrain the lower pressure stops the trailer bumping around (potentially damaging it).

>Any better types of tubes that will be worth the money?

Everyone will have their own opinion of what's best, but in my experience, I've found Schwalbe tubes to hold air-pressure really well. They can do this because they're slightly heavier than some other tubes, but this extra weight is irrelevant on a touring bike.

> Tips, tricks

Buy a pump with a built-in pressure gauge. The "thumb test" just simply will not work on thick-walled touring tyres, and may lead to sub-optimal inflation. This can prematurely wear your sidewall, and in the worst case cause a blow out.

I've just bought a Lezyne Micro Floor Drive, which comes with a gauge, and is beautifully engineered.

Amazon would be your friend, this Schwinn might do the job from an entry-level perspective..

Seconding. Just wanted to add that if you're planning to run tubeless and aren't worried about the price difference, it might be worth it to get the canister version. It can make it a lot easier to mount tubeless tires

Those should be sweet, though obviously with slicks you'll want to take it more cautiously if riding offroad with turning and braking, especially if it's not a harder surface. But as long as it's not muddy or loose sand/dirt you should still have a decent amount of grip from a 2" tire.

Get a pair of tire levers so you can get your old tires off and the new ones on, get a spare inner tube or two as well in case you get a puncture, and a decent pump with a gauge if you don't have one already as it's important to pump the tires up to the correct pressure, running them too soft means punctures are far more likely and the bike can handle badly in corners and need more effort to pedal along.

If your embarrassed you can always just buy a foot pump and use that at home.

I bought one for the bicycle but use it on the car also. One like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vandorm-Legend-Bicycle-Inflator-Schrader/dp/B009KLWRG0

Yeah, I personally wouldn't spend that much on a floor pump, but its msrp is consistent with amazon.

Some people use [these] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00280BL9O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_pKQfzb41KSST4) gauges but I think you lose too much pressure when connecting/disconnecting because of the small tire. I just use a [standard bike pump] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WN3V9AM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3OQfzbX9T9PB7) or [compressor] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IE0YIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sQQfzb06QGEZX).

Thank you for answering but unfortunately this is not the solution. As I was doing some further research it turns out that the nozzle head is a proprietary head that ONLY works if you have the proprietary adapters made by the company. Apparently I failed to notice it didn't include said adapters so I bought a worthless pump and now I'm shit out of luck.

Edit: Here's the perpetrator: https://www.amazon.com/Schwinn-SW77834-3-Connect-Floor-Function/dp/B00V3BMFM6 make sure you don't buy this pump as it was designed as a middle finger to the consumers who loose the adapter.

I always bring Tire Levers, a new tube, a bike pump, wallet, & phone (I personally ride with a CamelBak, but you could easily fit this in a small underseat pouch). Plan A is fix the flat. Plan B is call a cab. Although I purchased my stuff at LBS, here's some amazon links:

Pump: http://www.amazon.com/Lezyne-Micro-Floor-Drive-HPG/dp/B005UZO7RM/

Floor pump for at home before you ride. I have a Serfas FP200 which is excellent

On my road bike I just carry CO2 inflator and cartridges, but on my touring bike I have a pump that mounts under the bottle cage. It's best to get one with a hose like this one. That way, you don't damage the valve or tear the tube when pumping.
