Soda/coke/pop (pick your regionally germane term). The big brand-name variants are disgusting, terrible for you and crazy expensive.

The most fanciest, most expensive tea I can buy costs less per serving than the cheapest name-brand soda. As I learned more about teas, I found that my favorites are not particularly expensive -- about 12 cents a cup.

When it's hot outside, I like to make huge batches of cold-brew tea. My favorite is Golden Sail Lichee Black Tea, which you can find at almost any Asian grocery store (or Amazon, but it's cheaper at Ranch 99). I use about 20 grams of leaf for each liter of water, which works out to about 25-35 cents per liter. Just scoop the leaf in a container, fill it with cold water and put it in the refrigerator for a day or two. Pour into a glass through a tea strainer. No sugar needed.

If you must have soda, there are a dozen ways to carbonate water. Get a cheap seltzer bottle on Amazon, at a garage sale or a thrift store. Get a Soda Stream thing. Or, get a little 5lb tank of CO2 and build custom setup if you drink a lot of it and you like things extra fizzy. Add juice. If you use a citrus fruit for anything (lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit all work fine), you can use the leftover bits to flavor your soda. I like to muddle lime peels at the bottom of the glass with a piece of wooden dowel and then pour soda water over it. Just get into the habit of rinsing your citrus fruit in hot water before you cut it up! The peel isn't usually considered edible, and so growers and distributors don't take much care to keep it clean.

Harney and Sons is my all-time favorite. SO good, not bitter unless you let it steep too long. And it is strong.

Vanilla Almond from Republic of Tea is delicious too, and easy to find in grocery stores (I'm 99% sure whole foods carries it). Also strong with a nice flavor.

If you get loose leaf tea, I highly highly recommend getting a tea steeper. We have this one, it's easy to clean and keeps your tea free of leaves.

What if you did just 1 gift + the airline ticket per day, so that you could get her a higher-quality thing, since she has high standards? Basically more value for money? Especially if you have Amazon Prime, you could get it all shipped to you in one go.

Harney & Sons sells their tea on Amazon. I order from their site direct but they are certainly a reputable vendor with a good range of teas. They focus on British/Western style teas and drinking.

u/renational · 3 pointsr/tea

both are good indian blacks, but YG leaf blends a bit more distinctive flavor into it's mix.
i have tried them both, yet decided to save money using tetley loose blue as indian black.

Indian groceries sell these locally here in NYC for $9

I used to work at a grocery store, and we only had the tangerine Neuro Sleep, but we also had a drink called Marley's Mellow Mood. I tried Neuro Sleep and it really did work fairly well, but if you really want something that'll knock you out, try Marley's Mellow Mood. Specifically the black tea/passion fruit flavor. The green tea flavor is gross, and the carbonated flavor seems silly for getting to sleep.

But seriously, it's way more effective than I thought a drink could be in making you fall asleep.

For future reference, this is a fantastic Pu-erh sold on Amazon:

My goto black tea is the Ahmad Barooti (broken leaf) Assam

u/potatoaster · 2 pointsr/tea

If you want strong, cheap tea, it'll be a black tea blend like Irish breakfast. These blends have an Assam base. Here is a $13/lb loose-leaf Assam, though I can't vouch for the quality. But honestly if you want convenience and strong flavor, you should just use tea bags. Here is Twinings, a widely available brand, at $24/lb. Here is Barry's at $12/lb.

You should also explore masala chai, black tea with spices. This stuff is $15/lb.

Also, loosen up on those financial reins! A cup of tea uses less than .1 oz tea leaves. Are you really going to draw the line at 9¢ for a cup of tea? I'll bet you were happy paying much more than that per cup of coffee! If you're willing to pay 25¢ for a cup of tea, that's a much more reasonable budget of $40/lb.

I love Clipper as well, but costs a fair bit in the States.

u/MsZombiePuncher · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

So i have a lot of weird ones. But this one's probably the hardest to explain why I'd even want it.

u/Hermocrates · 2 pointsr/SRSFoodies

Frak yeah, pu-erh! I love its mossy, dirty flavour, especially when its served at various Cantonese restaurants, but most of my friends dislike it. I'm a big fan of it, along with oolong, sencha and Earl Grey (I was raised on English tea, after all). Have you ever had matcha? It's a really fine Japanese green tea, the type used in their tea ceremonies traditionally; I'd say its strongest flavour is chlorophyll, but it's really quite delicious and unique, and you sound like you would probably enjoy it.

I also like Indian chai, and someday I'd like to make it myself. Another tea I'd like to try is St Valentine Tea, a Russian tea, but it only seems to be available from the one brand, Czar Nicolas II.

u/do_work_son_do_work · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

this is what i use ahmad tea, im going to try this one and see how it comes out. i've only tried it with the ahmad tea havent really looked into any others as that is my fav earl gray.

u/iKickComputers · 2 pointsr/MLPLounge

That's a great help, thank you! I might try and mix some myself with stuff around the house, and then later order this to compare. I think I have apple stuff lying around... hmm.

Here is the tea that I was referencing. It's super cool that they sell them in bulk.

u/ReisaD · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

TEEEAAAAAAAAA!!!! because I always run out so quickly and I have never tried loose leaf Earl Grey!

...I don't know, fly casual

<3you.

u/FakeWalterHenry · 2 pointsr/mead

I've done double bergamot Earl Grey before. If you love high IBU beers, Bergamot mead is the way to go. I steeped 3.5oz loose leaf Earl Grey (in a muslin bag) in 1gal water heated to 150F for 60min. After removing the makeshift teabag, and allowing the tea to cool to 100F, I added 3lbs wildflower honey and aerated the crap out of it.

Ferment with your yeast of choice, I went with Lavlin 71B.

EDIT: added clicky

Numi recently came out with these savory tisanes and I decided I had to try them. I'm drinking the beet cabbage one right now. It's like a soup broth. Not bad.

I live in New Hampshire and drink Builders daily. According to the box it's very Brittish (https://www.amazon.com/Builders-British-Tea-8-8-ounce/dp/B007TS5M54). I also drink PG among others.

u/jojewels92 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I can't link but there is some Numi Savory tea on my food things list that would be amazing. Any flavor would be cool. :) thanks for doing this contest.

Got back on the computer. Here is a link

I'm the same stage as you! (5 weeks I guess this week, the whole IVF -> DPO thing confuses me)
I was super bloated last week, I'm happy to report that this week has gotten better. I've been drinking tons of this tea. I also drink water all day long. I've never been a huge water drinker, so it's been a whole thing to remember. Try eating a few small meals 6x's a day rather than 3 bigger ones. That helped too.

u/from-the-dusty-mesa · 1 pointr/tea

Shit, I was hoping to catch this post. They most certainly sell Loose Leaf of Harney and Sons. [Loose Leaf Version] (http://www.amazon.com/Harney-Sons-Earl-Loose-Ounce/dp/B00C1ZQHEK)

u/TeaLeavesAndTweed · 1 pointr/tea

That lavender tea isn't tea. It's herbal. No actual tea in it.

If you want lavender, try a lavender Earl Grey, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Tea-Lavender-Black-Count/dp/B00FLZ1Y7C

I also got some Tao of Tea samplers as a gift a couple years ago and liked them: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=the+tao+of+tea+sampler

u/Marcentrix · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

Here's the lavender Earl Grey I've been buying, but there are several different brands! That rose tea has awesome packaging, I'll definitely order some now!

Whelp since we have to use what we have on hand looks like I am having a bunch of Nabisco snack packs and one last back of Pizza Flavored Combos.....not actually too upset about that. Alright, I chose a few options for if I win because I am not very good at choosing things. Everything is $10 or less before shipping: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Thanks for the contest :)

u/woodsnwine · 1 pointr/tea

I find this a good middle of the road option.

Here is some Trader Joe's vanilla & cinnamon black tea. It's absolutely delicious. I recommend it highly! I love flavored teas. My favorite right now is Oolong from Wegman's because it smells like flowers and tastes like heaven. But the vanilla & cinnamon is a close second! :) ♥

:} Surprise me if I win, please!

Thanks for the contestt!

Drinking tea has nothing to do with the caffeine content. It's about taste and also having a hot drink. If you think it tastes of water then you are probably drinking crappy tea, try Yorkshire Tea or preferably Clippers

Drinking tea can be calming, warming on a cold day and cooling on a hot day! The way Doc Brown describes is pretty much the perfect way to make tea so follow his instructions and hopefully you'll get a great tasting cuppa!

u/elishadarko · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Bob Marley's mellow mood drinks because it's the only thing that can help me sleep at night and relax me to help my anxiety. The other sleeping medications I've had have side effects and turn me into a zombie, and I get no side effects from this!

thank you for the contest!

Check out your local asian grocer for good loose teas. My two favorites for iced tea are these

[Lychee Black Tea] (http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Sail-Brand-China-Lichee/dp/B003L8LX7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397482433&sr=8-1&keywords=lychee+black+tea)

[Jasmine Green Tea] (http://www.amazon.com/Sunflower-Jasmine-Tea-LB-454/dp/B000NIHZMU/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1397482451&sr=8-6&keywords=jasmine+green+tea)

You can generally find them in stores for half of what they charge on Amazon.

u/Gary13579 · 1 pointr/trees

Since you are interested in tea, check this out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003D4MYTU?tag=garysdevsite-20&camp=213381&creative=390973&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B003D4MYTU&adid=15948WB9ZE31Y12BQVMP&

Use Subscribe and Save to drop the price 15%, then cancel the subscription in 3 or 4 days (there's no penalty). This stuff is amazing, use a little bit of milk and half a spoon of sugar, and it becomes this awesome sweet drink. 100 bags lasts forever, easily a month for me.

As for the crash, yea caffeine will cause it, but if you limit the amount of caffeine you take (1 cup of tea a day), it won't be significant and as long as the rest of your diet is okay (plenty of fruits and veggies), you'll be fine.

u/shredsofmetal · 1 pointr/tea

You can buy the ginger peach tea from Republic of Tea and make it yourself http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0024SIHAG?pc_redir=1411858115&robot_redir=1

Oof, I'm doing a lot today. Had a huge exam at 9, now I'm in my second class of the day. When this class gets out I'm spending some time volunteering in my school's LGBTQA+ and Ally Education Center, then getting lunch with a new friend, then donating plasma, then getting dinner with and being "discipled" (basically Christian mentoring) by a woman in the college ministry I'm a part of. Then doing homework and then passing out.

^And that is why I've barely been on Reddit lately. Every single day of my week is as busy as that. :(

When I'm studying, I like drinking black tea to help me focus, and this is one of my favourites! You'd also need an awesome mug to drink it in.

And this is from my WL. :) I love this story/area of history so much.

Who needs revision?! Thanks for the contest and good luck on your exams!
