I spent a lot of time measuring and researching dimensions to make sure the screens lined up close to how I wanted them to. The effective Resolution is 6000 x about 2000. Yes, there is a slight difference in DPI between the monitors, which I don't even notice.
As far as PC specs go, the build is from 6-7 years ago and I'm surprised that my 7 year old GTX660 can even handle the monitors. Like I said, I don't play PC games.
This setup is much less expensive than a lot on here. I bought the speakers, the chair and the desk used.

This is what I use and now I never had eye strain anymore. I switch between the software and glasses depending on situations. When I wear contacts I use the glasses when f.lux stops working (it stops working for me at some point). Then the gamma glasses is just that... every time I use it zero eye strain.
There are actually plenty of pairs that fit over glasses. :)
(I own the last safety glasses style pair linked there and they fit perfectly fine over my reading glasses.)
I have a few awesome teen gift ideas, I will post some links to for you. Im sort of know as giver of random awesome things to my neice and nephews. If you can give me some ideas of what he likes I can try to track down more specific things.
These will all be through amazon because its easiest but they can be found elsewhere.

Get some blue light filtering glasses. I got the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon and they have been a game changer already. Here are the ones I got, if that's helpful. https://www.amazon.com/Bluelight-Blocking-Computer-Headache-Transparent/dp/B07T46YKB2
What you need are gaming glasses. They reduce eye strain while looking at the computer screen so you can go hours without harming your eyes. So worth it, and you'll save yourself a few hundred bucks.

Something I've found super helpful: I recently had to get glasses; not a strong prescription, but enough that I needed lens to drive. Anyway, I'm a programmer as well and you can get a blue light filter built into the lens material. http://www.allaboutvision.com/cvs/blue-light.htm (for info on blue light) And even if you don't need prescription glasses you can buy blue light filter glasses. Something like these: https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Light-Blocking-Glasses-Registered/dp/B010B5GUH0?th=1
Use the glasses anytime you are looking at a screen. Whether it's your phone, tv, or computer monitor. Blue light is part of what prevents you from sleeping well. Like if you look at your phone before bed, it can wake up your brain even though you are tired. Since I've had my glasses, I've fallen asleep faster and gotten better sleep. Like I used to wake up a few times a night, roll over, then fall back asleep. I usually don't wake up anymore...except in the morning when my alarm clock goes off.
TL;DR I'm nocturnal too, get blue light filter lens and it will help you sleep easier at night.
I was just looking at these on Friday, https://www.amazon.com/LifeArt-Blocking-Transparent-Eyestrain-Magnification/dp/B06W2L7NFS/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1550387864&sr=8-4&keywords=blue+blocking+glasses+women&refinements=p_72%3A2661618011
They have good reviews and are really cheap. If I didn’t need a prescription for my lenses, I’d get them!
http://www.amazon.com/Gunnar-Optiks-G0005-C001-Ergonomic-Compatibility/dp/B001DUQU0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457155721&sr=8-1&keywords=gunnar+computer+glasses
Electronics are a big issue in not being able to shut down for the evening. So turn off the tv or put down your phone.
My husband has a lot of trouble sleeping, but has had good luck with blue blocker glasses. They block out the blue end of the color spectrum and promote melatonin production. They just look like orange sun glasses.
Like I said, don't buy "gaming glasses" buy something like http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00G0578C2/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1418247393&sr=8-5&pi=SL75
Same thing more than half off, all it is is yellow tinting and it does work, but F.lux does the same thing and is free, it also saves your dignity from ugly glasses
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GNO3G48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CtdtDbN20QYX8 I got these ones and they work really well for me.
Obligatory not a doctor.
I've had this most of my life. What worked for is allowing myself regular breaks away from screens, and just getting up and moving around. Is it a home office you're working at? If so, maybe try a standing desk. You also could try using glasses that filter blue light (Link). My brother uses them for similar symptoms and eye strain, and they work for him. I also would consider drinking more water, it's simple but often overlooked.
Best of luck!
At first I completely disagreed with this but I did some more research and, while I don't think flux should be considered a complete replacement of the glasses, it does help more than I thought.
I've been using flux for quite some time, but always found the glasses to ultimately provide better filtering. If you have the right monitor then you can turn flux wayyyyy down for the best effect. My monitor at home does not bode well with the lower bluelight settings.
The other reason I would recommend glasses is because of the typical lighting in the workplace. Usually fluorescent at 5500K temperature (high blue light similar to daylight). If you rely on flux alone you should use somewhere in the range of 2300k for best effect, but combine that with the brighter lighting in the office and the contrast in light can be just as tiring on the eyes.
---
The best solution is to use both. Use Flux at a moderate temperature (I use ~3000k) with the glasses. This gives protection from all blue-light sources.
For those that really don't like the yellow part of the glasses, they also have non-tinted ones.

I think you should start wearing these glasses when working on a computer and get some sleep.

Thank you!
Get some gunnars or glasses similar to gunnars. I got a pair from gamma ray essentials and they've helped a lot with my headaches. I only wear them when plying games. Also they make everything look better in the game
Glasses I bought
I don't know of any apps for iOS, but if you wear these dark amber blue-blockers, it's like F.lux for the whole world. It works great.
These might not be the exact ones, but they're close. Just search on Amazon for blue light blocking frames and you'll find a lot.

I know eye strain was mentioned many times, but this was a good TedX talk I watched about it a while ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN30fO2I2aU. As for blue light reducing glasses, I'd go with https://www.spektrumglasses.com/ or https://gunnar.com/. I've used both and they are great; have been using https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01E0RR2FO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for over a year now.
Yeah they're similar, in fact I read a lot of people in the comments of these products who used computer glasses as driving glasses. These are the ones I got from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Harmful-Shield-Glasses-Minimal-Distortion/dp/B00R6TQIRM/ref=lp_7905467011_1_3_a_it?srs=7905467011&ie=UTF8&qid=1480952351&sr=8-3
I picked these because there is minimal color distortion for digital painting, but honestly because it is so easy to just lift em up and check what you're doing it is honestly not necessary.
You can also achieve a similar eye-soothing affect as the glasses by changing your computer monitor settings to mute the blue, but this is tedious especially when you need to check the colors of your work.
She's talking about these items like she's familiar with them, "I love such and such!" But then she says she doesn't own anything on the list?
Sun Potion essentials kit—I love this brand though I can’t really afford them.
Blueblocker glasses— It really helped for me when I had the worst insomnia to invest in some blue light blocking eyewear.
Lord Jones CBD Bath Salts— A lot of CBD products don’t work for me, but somehow these do and I don’t even love baths that much!
Anti-radiation iPhone cases—Mine still looks like new and it’s been a year.
Berkey shower filter—This has been a huge game changer for me.
And so on. And then, at the end... "I should mention I don’t own many of these (hint hint!) but over the years I have researched them all and I can stand by them."
So which is it, PK? Do you already own most of the stuff on your list and you're just trying to get people to buy you more shit?
There are a special type of non-prescription glasses that can reduce eye strain by filtering out the amount of blue light that hits your eyes. I have a pair and it was the best thing I have ever done.
Link here!
These have helped quite a bit and reduced my overall eye strain. Give them a try since they are fairly cheap.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I heard that Gunnar glasses can be helpful for eye strain.

Apparently, those glasses have gotten two 5-star reviews on amazon!

Bought those computer glasses and it really helped. I really liked these ones because they dont have much of a yellow tint and instead look like regular glasses.

I heard them advertised for that (which does have some evidence), but also more commonly for strain, and occasionally for "damage." A quick search for "eye strain blue filter" turned up this, this, this one is from a monitor company, and even includes that research is inconclusive, and so on. I think 8 out of 10 links were like this. Check out these Blue Light Filter Computer Glasses for UV Blocking Anti Eyestrain Gaming Glasses Anti-Glare Protection.... that ad copy.
I've also heard the eye strain garbage on a couple podcasts, and on some roosterteeth vids my wife watches. I might be more than appropriately irritated by this because I work in an office with a bunch of highly intelligent, highly educated, total morons who actually believe that wearing yellow glasses is saving their eyes.
Reposted from yesterday because I was ashamed to show the tower, but forgot that the rules make me.
Because I got this question yesterday, I'll go ahead and address it. I moved from retail to work for a good friend of my family. He owns a local business that's been around since the late 1930s, and was started by his grandfather. He's done well, and decided he wants to break into the online sales market, so I'm working with a web developer company to put together an e-commerce site, and once it's up, I'll be running it by myself until it's too much for just me, at which time I will hire people, and train and supervise them.

I know it’s nothing high performance, fast, or crazy expensive, but the desktop and monitors came with the job, so I can’t complain too much. Please ignore the mess of wiring underneath. It was set up when they gave me my office, so I didn’t get to run things like I would have. We will be relocating soon, and with that, I’ll make things look much cleaner. Hopefully, I’ll be upgrading soon to something not running Windows 7 Professional, and something not this, because this can barely even run photoshop without crashing the graphics card. Oh well!

I turn off all the lights in my office. Working in the dark is not harder on your eyes.
I use the Blue Light Filter or Night Mode in Windows 10 to remove the Blue Light Spectrum from my screens (This helps significantly)
I also use these from Amazon which is fantastic.

These are the pair I got, it’s definitely something I can’t swear by but I feel like it’s helped, and probably most confident of an answer anyone can give since the best way is to not stare at screens 24/7, but that’s talking nonsense
No reason to spend tons of money on a pair. Any yellow/amber tinted ones on amazon work.
I wear these during the day because my desk is in front of a huge window.

Better to invest in a pair of computer glasses like these. Flux doesn't work on all systems and ruins some screens.
