Ukulele Hunt and Got a Ukulele are classics and wonderful combinations of interesting articles and wonderful tabs/chords!

This blog is in French I think but is pretty good.
You should be able to navigate decently because the songs and page names are all in English as far as I can tell. UkeCafe

A lot of cool video game and movie themes! This guy doesn't update as often as I would like, but you can't rush quality :)
Uke of Carl

Pretty decent.
Not a whole lot of tabs but the ones that are there are pretty good in my opinion.
I'm just a little salty because I wanted a solo version of The Man Who Sold the World but it is written for a group and I can't be bothered to fix it for solo players ;_; Also in French.
Ukulele boudoir

GREAT tabs, but the site is down so you have to use the internet archive. I like pretty much all of their arrangements and they are all pretty simple and newbie friendly. I particularly like their version of Over the Rainbow :) [CRAZY DAWG]

These are no joke. Most of them are tough and should only be attempted when you have either decent skill or a lot of time to refine their pieces. Make sure you check at the top of every tab to see the way they tuned their uke, because some of it is low g. It technically is the same note, but the deeper sound makes a world of difference. A large variety of tabs with pretty good quality all around! [Dominator]

There are a lot of guitar tabs on this French blog (What's up with the French and ukuleles? Maybe French sites are just easier to find or something) but there are few really good ukulele tabs if you do some digging. Unique ones that I haven't found tabs for anywhere else. [Descordes et Dubois]

A great way to find more tab resources. I haven't visited all of these yet, but they all seem pretty decent. [Uke Nut] (http://ukenut.com/fingerstyle-ukulele-resources/)

A lot of good video game tabs. They also have general/anime tabs in a small selection at the bottom-- I really like their version of FullMetal Alchemist's Brothers. Shadowflare's

A good blog that you can squeeze a few nice tabs out of! :) Gordon Lustig

I'm just gonna put these two together because I have nothing to say besides they are good and have tabs. That's not disparaging their quality, but more my lack of variety! Uke Fever and Live Ukulele

Ten Thumbs is a channel that caters to players of all skill levels, but if I were you I'd focus on the chord melodies (they're divine). Check out Colin Tribe too! His tabs are a little too pricy for my blood, but if you find one you like you can email him and he'll give you one free. He has a treasure trove of hot hot tabs that all are exquisitely beautiful (if not a touch difficult). Cynthia Lin has a lot of great tutorials as well. If she is a bit slow for you (great if you're just learning, but bad if you just want some steamy new tabs), you can opt to download her sheet music in her video descriptions. They are usually great combinations of fingerpicking and strumming, and she's a stellar choice for getting your toes wet in the world of tabs.

Last but certainly not least is this collection of gems I scrounged out of a Taiwanese youtube account! They are a little more difficult, but if you simplify it a bit, they way they use chords and the gorgeous finger picking can teach you a lot about how to improve your playing. The tabs and the youtube channel

I hope these resources keep you busy for a while :)

I'd also recommend grabbing a book on amazon. The Beatles for fingerstyle ukulele is a good one I have enjoyed, and I've only heard wonderful things about this Studio Ghibli book, though it is tragically out of my price range :)

Ukist? Ukulelogologist? Ukuphile?

Either way, Happy Cake Day!

If OP has a smart phone there are dozens of free ukulele tuners available. My favorite one is aNueNue. A speed winder is an absolute must. Cake Day Dean here is absolutely correct on that.

I like fake books to get started, especially if you already play another instrument. Even if not, it's a great way to learn chords and practice.

Those are good ones to start with.

They yellow Daily Ukulele is a classic. I find the ranges a little awkward but that may just be me: https://www.amazon.com/Daily-Ukulele-Songbook-Better-Songbooks-ebook/dp/B00DB2GL2A

The same author also publishes smaller books, including Camp Songs and Holiday Songs.

There's also a website called musicnotes.com where you can order music to print at home but it's ~$5.00 a tune.

I'm on week 3 of learning. James Hill has a fantastic online course, but before that road, I recommend shroprock on YouTube. Hal Leonard ukulele method book 1 is pretty great too. Ukulele hunt has my three favorite pdfs. Five things, beginner ukulele, and most common chords.

I definitely recommend I See The Light from Tangled. The chords can get a little tough at the key change if you have a concert, I'm not entirely sure how the chords look on a baritone.

I also recommend Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride if you want that hawaiian sort of feel for the uke.

Since you don't say the difficulty, Lava is nice too.

As for sources, I recommend buying the most recent Disney ukulele song book :https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Hits-Ukulele-Songs-Strum/dp/1495045773/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493007281&sr=8-2&keywords=disney+ukulele+book

Ultimate Guitar also has almost every Disney song, but I cannot verify the accuracy of the chords.

This version of Lava is pretty accurate to the book though: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/k/kuana_torres_kahele/lava_crd.htm

YouTube has tons of tutorials too.

Hello player!

I bought some Ukulele books myself not long ago. Please note that I'm a total beginner so you might not find them as useful as I found them. The books are:

u/kinglella · 2 pointsr/Easy_Ukulele

Ukulele Aerobics: For All Levels, From Beginner to Advanced has audio samples for their exercises and is a great read :)

u/tenjed · 2 pointsr/ukulele

Read /u/bazmaz's book. Rather than focusing on how to play (which you really need an instrument for) this book covers all the questions and confusions that come up for new ukulele players. Even as a guitarist of 20 years, I found it very informative and a joy to read.

Bubbles. And this.

I really like https://www.alfred.com/alfreds-easy-ukulele-songs-standards-jazz/p/00-45159/ - great tunes and a lot of interesting extended and altered chords to use.

I also like https://www.amazon.ca/Ukulele-Fake-Book-Full-Size/dp/1495003701 for variety.

Other user suggested Daily Ukulele which has a few more interesting folksy tunes and standards not in either of my selections but it feels to me like half the book is Beatles, which is a bit of a yawner IMO.

I also like https://www.halleonard.com/product/viewproduct.action?itemid=703516 but a few of the transcriptions are for low-G ukes.

I'm trying to nail down a 5-finger roll stroke at the moment myself... For another book suggestion on techniques, maybe Lil Rev's Essential Strums & Strokes for Ukulele, which covers a lot of those showy strums that are so fun to watch. (Here's Lil Rev teaching Fornby's triplet fan strum, for example).

I think the real thing to learn though (and I'm not there yet at all) is how to best incorporate different "fancy" strums into a song for effect. You wouldn't do a whole song in a roll stroke strum of course. A whole song with the fan would just be annoying. But if you know just when to add one in, and when to mix in other types of strums, it can add up to a really fun performance. I imagine it's just a matter of practicing, experimenting, and watching performers you like to see what they do...

Not yet a PCV, but as a fellow uke-enthusiast, this sounds awesome!

Perhaps you can use age limits to control how many kids can join. Like, 10 years old and up (IDK what ages you have in your classes, but just as an example) can join the club. You may want to also be a bit strict about attendance. That way kids can't just join for the instrument and then quit 2 weeks later and you never get their uke back. Maybe they have to attend for a certain number of weeks before they can take their instrument home and/or if they miss a certain number of meetings, they are bumped out? It sounds kind of harsh, but you have to protect the instruments and make sure that the kids who are there want to be there and are willing to do the work. I would also definitely have them sign some sort of contract/pledge detailing how to take care of the instrument before they are allowed to take them home.

Oh, and teaching them TAB, instead of how to read music, may be a bit simpler. You can get chord posters for pretty cheap and then the whole group can see the fingering.

I just got a uke- what do you think of the Daily?

I picked this one up and it's okay- kinda depends what you're looking for.

What about this?

Little late but 101 Ukulele Licks is a great book

Doesn't quite look legit. But if you really want it, it literally took a second to google it. https://www.amazon.com/Ukulele-Classical-Pianists-Stephanie-Yung/dp/1497450705

You'd likely be better off with something made by an actual ukulele player, but whatever floats your boat.
