My 7yo daughter is also a huge fan of Dino Dana (and Dino Dan/Trek)! We recently moved from the West Coast to New England and she's been struggling to find new girl friends because the gender expectations are more traditional and she hates toys like Barbie, baby dolls, ponies, etc. She likes cars, Pokémon, dinosaurs, every Lego show except Lego Friends (the "girl" Lego products), ninja, and science toys. At the same time, she's temperamentally gentle, maternal, so the more boisterous behavior of some boys is a bit frightening to her.

All of this was not a big deal where we came from, since there was a lot more fluidity in gender expectations. Now, she finds that she has no interests in common with the girls, and intimidated by the behavior of a lot of the boys.

Her class had a game day, where the kids could bring games from home and the kids could try playing the games, and brought in her favorite game Dinosaur Escape. She was excited to bring it in because she loves it so much and was sure other kids would, too. When she came home the excitement had deflated completely. Only one girl tried the game and told her dinosaurs were boring, but the game was so popular with the boys they wanted to play it over and over, and she didn't know why the girls didn't want to play.

I tried Girl Scouts, but she didn't like it because "all they like are LOL dolls and Hello Kitty" and they made fun of her favorite boots because they were combat boots. (I mean, they're awesome boots, denim with pink stars and more glittery than the picture, what's not to like?!).

I'm frustrated and sad for her, and afraid she is being pressured to act and dress like the other girls just to make friends. So far, her most reliable friend is the gentle autistic boy down the street who's 3 years older. He tends to make friends with the younger girls because he finds the boys are too rambunctious for him as well.

These will be your best bet.

Last year we got these crocs ones, which I can't recommend as a waterproof boot, but they were easy to get on and new-ish walker friendly.

Everyone loves baby bogs, and they are especially good for the smaller ones who still aren't super coordinated. We went with classic bogs this year, and we have a pair of See Kai Run waterproof boots/hightops that we bought for hiking this summer.

Both my daughters a were in keens hiking boots:

6yo (proper waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support):

4yo (waterproof and easy to slip on for her):
KEEN Unisex Kootenay II WP Hiking Boot

They both did great! Good waterproofness and good traction... both were at the upper end on what I’m willing to spend on kids shoes.... but they use them all summer for hiking and hopefully into this winter for snow season.

Wife was in a pair of Oboz

Also good boots.... (not GYW or resoleable or anything... but very good modern boots if based on glue construction methods)

Were they the regular lace up style Timberland boots? Or a different style?

I found these, that have a purple lining, but so far I only see them in youth sizes

Maybe you have really small feet and can fit into a kids size? Or maybe that person did.

I ended up buying my daughter size 10's and thick socks last year because they're so expensive for half sizes. Luckily little feet grow fast and this year she's comfortably fitting in a 12.

Edit-I found a pair on amazon, 1 2 3

I'd love to help you out! In addition to some other gifts, I really want to buy your daughter those ugg boots she wants, but I would hate to see someone spend that much money for boots that will probably get ruined after a single season. In my experience, Bearpaws have been proven to be more weatherproof and cheaper than uggs. I've had my pair for about 5 years :) Here are a few links:

Classic Bearpaws

Tall ones

Sparkly ones :)

Please let me know which color, style and size she would like and I'd be more than happy to buy those for you in addition to some other items on your wishlist. If she really has her heart set on those uggs then I, unfortunately, can't afford to buy those for her, but I sincerely hope that someone else on this sub does. Happy Holidays!

We recently had a trip up to Canada and got these boots for my 17-month-old. They worked out well. We ordered a size up because he would be wearing bulkier pants than usual, but he was still able to walk in them just fine.

In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.

1.) For this I choose a pencil box because when I was in grade school I collected pencil shavings mostly from colored pencils to do a craft project idea I had with them. Sad ending though, I never did get around to making the craft.

2.) I know this notebook would make me insanely jealous. I wasn't much of a note taker however so it would end up mostly filled with doodles :P

3.) I think any teacher would smile if they saw one of their students wearing this shirt

4.) YAY! Art class! I think with this I will be fully prepared!

5.) In my state (Washington) it rains a lot during the school year, so these fashionable rain boots are a must have for splashing around in the puddles!

6.) If I could pick my school's mascot, it would definitely be the blobfish because I don't think anybody else has him as a mascot yet. And of course because he's so cute!

7.) You would think a box of nerds candy this big should last the whole school year, but it's kids we're talking about here, come on.

8.) I have always been in love with the Shel Silverstein books such as Where The Sidewalk Ends. Also they rhyme and have silly drawings!

9.) There is no way to beat this amazing spectacular backpack any kid wearing this would be the most popular kid in school!

10.) Between homework and dinner, my favorite activity would be playing the Wii U with friends or family. It's a fun video game system that can also keep you up and active!
