One of the best purchases I ever made at a Goodwill store (and I've made quite a few) was this album. I saw it in the CD bin and thought, "Yiddish folk songs sung by Inigo Montoya? How cool is that?" Then I took it home and played it. I had no idea what I was in for.
Reading the liner notes, I saw that Patinkin's grand concept was to view all pop music written by Jews in America as part of the larger historic body of Jewish folksong. He expressed that thesis by taking pop songs by Jewish songwriters, from "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" to "Maria" from West Side Story to Paul Simon's "American Tune", translating the lyrics into Yiddish, and singing them with an orchestral accompaniment. The funniest thing I've ever heard. Here is a tantalizing tidbit of Mandy goodness.
Judy: At Carnegie Hall is the best live recording ever made by a US solo artist.

I tried to mix new and old. I am a sucker for the classics tho. The first three are my top pick in that order the rest are things that I thought where good in any order. I linked the version of each I liked to make it easier to find. Most are streaming on Amazon unlimited or Spotify.
This will be the entire soundtrack
Jeff Wayne. The SACD version sounds great in surround.

Bird & Diz show up in each other's bands on a lot of the early Bebop sessions - Shaw 'Nuff, Salt Peanuts, Ko Ko, Hot House, Night In Tunisia, Dizzy Atmosphere...just find any Parker studio compilation that includes those tunes - like this. The Verve record called Bird And Diz is slightly later, and not so vital.
There are also several live recordings featuring them:
Town Hall
The Quintet/Jazz At Massey Hall
Bird 'N' Diz At Carnegie Hall
Chasin' The Bird - great collection of live Parker, including Dizzy on some sessions

There, there :*
From what I can tell, you can buy a CD with the music of the original London cast, and you can get a video on DVD or Blu-ray of the 25th anniversary show at Royal Albert Hall (not the full original cast, unfortunately). This YouTube video contains the audio for the first show (performed Sept. 26, 1986 in London), but no video.
I also found this page that says:
> While never released to the general public, there is a video recording of an early performance of the musical with Michael Crawford that is only available to certain people involved with the Broadway show. Whether or not it will ever be released remains in question.
Officially of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael, Sarah, Steve's performance is not available on DVD, or VHS. You can watch them on Youtube, the film is crude done by someone in the audience.
but there are no sources for that information so I don't know how to verify it.
Sorry I can't be of more help. (Happy early birthday, /u/grizzedram's grandpa!)
I shuffle from these collections:
The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!
The Most Relaxing Classical Album In the World Ever, Volume II
The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe
But usually I just tune in to WILL-FM, it saves me the effort of shuffling, choosing, selecting ... which in itself can be distracting when trying to work or study.
While at home I listen to classical music, either on the radio or on youtube. I have three classical music relaxation CDs (this, this, and this), sometimes I listen to those.
When I am stressed, I listen to one of the long (1+ hours) zen relaxation videos on youtube.
When I am having difficulty falling sleep, I listen to sleep music.
The Cold War plays into Chess and it's got lyrics by Tim Rice, who is lyricist for Evita as well, so you might like that. It's centered around a chess championship that gets a ton of media attention and is played up as a test of intellectual superiority between the US and USSR. The Russian wins, but then defects and runs off with a western woman. The original album would be a good place to start with that one, or if you'd rather watch something, the 2008 Chess In Concert which was released on DVD isn't too bad.
Cabaret has the rise of Nazi Germany going on, and Hair has the Vietnam war, but I'm guessing you're more looking for stories about characters who are themselves influencing politics, right? But if not, those are some suggestions too.
Possibly this box set: Broadway, America's Music
Or Broadway Today: Broadway 1993-2005, which looks like it's one disc of that box set.
truth, and she also released an album of spirituals
I'm a sucker for oldies. Do you like Frank Sinatra? What about this classic?.
link to my WL item.
What up doe....
Mandy Patinkin has a great Yiddish album, although I don't know how this kind of thing works these days.
I especially love his version of Az Der Rebbe Elimelech.
I LOVE these guys!!! My college buddy plays guitar for them. Their whole album is seriously epic. :)
Do support them and buy the album if you enjoy their stuff.
I did a little research and it looks like the [Studio Chronicle 40-48] (http://www.amazon.com/Charlie-Parker-Studio-Chronicle-1940-1948/dp/B0000AJ5SR/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410238640&sr=8-1&keywords=charlie+parker+studio+chronicle) set is the best to get for Charlie Parker. That includes all of his classic recordings for pretty cheap.
possibly this one?
Music [West Side Story Sountrack] (http://www.amazon.com/West-Side-Story-Stephen-Sondheim/dp/B00023GGK8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=H3UAQXLVXPOM&coliid=I26UAEN0ONC8SJ)
This is on my For my Parents list.

Man, I forgot to refresh before posting. Oh well. :P thanks for the contest!
Probably not going to be a popular choice, but I'd suggest the album Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of War of The Worlds or, if you don't want to shell out money and don't mind low quality, you can listen to it here
I'm a sucker for blending rock music with violins and this is one of the better examples out there.
If you like blending of modern and classical, Blackmore's Night is also very good. Modern guitars and instruments with medieval themed tunes.
Eighties.
I have "Love Song" by The Cure stuck in my head.
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
I am craving a new Sinatra vinyl for my collection. Come Fly With Me.
Thanks for the contest!

I'd recommend Ultralounge Vegas Baby. I love this CD.
Was it the Riverdance soundtrack? That is what I immediately pictured from your description of the cover. https://www.amazon.ca/Riverdance-special-Deluxe-Bill-Whelan/dp/B000005B2O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=riverdance+soundtrack&qid=1570145326&sr=8-1

Greetings, chum.
PS. I see that you're a girl. If I ever see you, or anyone else (guys included) saying that they like Torres because he's 'cute', so help me God I will ban you with a hammer that hits harder than Thor's.
Welcome and enjoy your stay!
Marc Shaiman — The American President — and Scott Joplin — The Sting — are geniuses.
I'm going to recommend the Phantom of the Opera 1986 London Cast recording. I've been listening to this album for probably 2 decades now and it's just so good. Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford are amazing as Christine and the Phantom. I know you asked for a single song, though, so I'll recommend The Angel of Music, which is my favorite off this album.
Edit: Oh yeah, I like big butts and I cannot lie.
You should check out Judy at Carnegie Hall. It's really an amazing concert, from start to finish, and is one of the only existing sources of Judy's fantastic sense of humor, as she jokes around with the audience quite a bit.
Oh, and if you want to hear some of Judy's earliest recordings, including the recordings she did as a child, when she was still part of her family's vaudeville act, you should check out the Judy Box Set.
My guess is $36. 22
Less than $10
Less than $25
Less than $50

Music from Riverdance, also some Enya and U2.
Go doesn't have a soundtrack.
Chess does, though.
"The question is whether or not a glass balcony attached to a private residence qualifies..."
Very very true. I guess that would be in the wording of the law or if a previous ruling has already been set by a previous case.
