Safety 1st Lazy Susan Cabinet Lock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000479VK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wScTBbYSGSVA4

I think a pool noodle over the first few spindles would prevent your junior mountain climber from grabbing hold. Actually, I would not put them on the bottom ones, I would let them climb a step or two, to get it out of their system.

You could also get a tall panel from a play fence, and leave it along the side of the stairs, maybe using zip ties.

Also, try to leave one kitchen cabinet not locked. We put all the Tupperware in one. Otherwise the kids will pull on every cabinet, testing them over and over like velociraptors in Jurassic Park.

I like these for drawers, cabinets, doors. I have them on basically everything in my house.

Well, if there's any way to keep a cabinet that's ok for him to get into (or two) I'd start there so you have somewhere to redirect him to that appears identical. Beyond that (and yours sounds much more physical than ours) we've had the best luck with the strap kind that sticks on to the front of the door. We tighten the strap enough that the doors don't move and she can't get any real leverage to pull them off. These did not work on painted cabinets for us but have worked great on wood. She has managed to pull the strap out of one a couple times but that was easily fixable without needing replacing.

Oh I didn’t notice that at first. Something like this then?

Here's an example.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BRH1VBD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_BYDdBb70E01V8

Basically, where you install the piece that attaches to the drawer determines how it works. You may want to install it a little on the high side (so that it definitely needs pushed down to close the drawer). Hope that makes sense.

Best locks are those they physically cannot access, so the door top locks. 2 Pack - GlideLok Child Safety Door Top Lock Made of Durable Metal (Not Plastic Like Other Models) | for Babyproofing & Childproofing Interior/Exterior Doors | Adults Can Open Door from Both Sides https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074MQPPRM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BgotDbND46VGD

We use these - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073T4FC3X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_5iCPAbD07S8NS or something like it, it’s one of those products that amazon has a bunch of different brand names for the same product. Working great so far, but I haven’t tried to remove any of them so I can’t speak to that

Yes, parents know.

The children I work with at my preschool ("daycares" tend to have younger children) are 3-5 so they should mostly be over the putting things in the mouth stage of development... and if you have younger children/children who stick non-food things in their mouths you can always use [one of these] (https://www.amazon.com/Safety-Small-Object-Choking-Tester/dp/B0062TNEOC).

That said, I think I am a lot more comfortable with risks and mess than my administrators. I see a lot of learning through concrete experiences happening when we take little risks, like using marbles or a mechanical apple peeler. Similarly, I see pride and self-confidence in children when they climb all the way to the top of the play structure. What that means for me is that I really have to be on my game so that nobody gets hurt. I have to make sure I know what the child is already capable of, what new challenges they are ready for and that I will be able to provide appropriate supervision during the activity and mop up when it's all done.

Have you thought about a window grate? Without being able to see your exact window, I wonder if this could work for you? (Not sure how you could use it without drilling into the window frame, though.)

Another idea: This DIY window screen/bug screen. You could add 1-2 more slats behind it, to make it a little more sturdy, but the fabric could be as thin, to allow this wind to pass through easily.

Last idea: A window fan. This might be too much wind on you during the night, but you definitely won't roll past it, and it ensures that you have air circulation at night.

Something like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Adoric-Sliding-Cabinet-Childproof-Bathroom/dp/B074FW21SM/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=cabinet+baby+proofing&qid=1566336508&s=gateway&sr=8-12

They're cheap, effective, require no installation drilling and can be opened with one hand with no special key or tool.

I also have a galley style kitchen, with a refrigerator on one side and cabinets on the other. At first I was using 2 sets of this Evenflo baby gate. I like it because I can move it around the house as needed, but it didn't take long before my son was able to just move it out of the way no matter what I did. I tried using the stick on door lock's on the cabinets, because we rent and can't screw anything in, but I'm in SoCal and it gets so hot here that they just melted off 😂 Eventually I bought these door locks for all of my cabinets and drawers and I pretty much love them. They're not the prettiest, but damn do they work. And it's nice not having gates all over. To take them off you just use a razor blade and some goo gone and you should be set. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't cause any damage though.

Just a thought but they have those magnetic childproof locks for cabinets. You could try those and just keep the "key" in your room.

Would child locks like these work for your cabinets? You just have to pull them open slightly, then push them down to open the rest of the way. They also make some you can “disarm” by moving a tab and keeps the lock “off” when you don’t need to keep the baby out of something.

We too have a kitchen where the openings to block off just weren’t going to work with a baby gate. We just put child locks on am the cabinets as well as the oven and let her have free roam.

I also have been looking at https://www.amazon.com/Drilling-Adjustable-Adhesive-Furniture-Appliances/dp/B01H7MFLAC

http://smile.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Swing-Shut-Toilet/dp/B002W7M6U6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1450760545&sr=8-4&keywords=toilet+locks I like it because there's no chance of peeing on it/having to touch pee like the other types. And it's fun for when you have guests over that you don't particularly like ;)
