So I was snap chatting my sister this lip color, and thought it would be a good opportunity to show you guys! Please excuse my (faded) makeup from today, it's almost time for bed :-)

I was so so excited to receive my Blackbird order a few days ago, I immediately made some lipsticks out of supplies I've had in my pantry for this occasion. I wanted to make a grayish pink, and ended up with this awesome gray that I love!

I used a tablespoon of coconut oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax pellets until I got the consistency and amount I wanted. I ordered the pellets and butter on Amazon, and the coconut oil at my grocery store.

The shadows I used were a bit of Fiction, Immortals, Lucid, Smudge, and some Imogen. I used a clean plastic fork to put the shadows in the bowl, so I don't know the exact amounts. Never done this before, and I got a lot of stuff in my order so I kind of went ham on making this.

The color is a bit sheer for my taste, but I probably messed up the recipe. I like to top it off with some loose Fiction powder. It lasted a long time as I went for a long walk in the cold, and then drank tea for a few hours. I went to touch up and really didn't need to! I love this color, but let me know what you think!

You can make ~4L/4000ml of 3mg/ml for ~$150 or a little under $0.04/ml, so ~$4.50 per 120ml with supplies left over.

Maybe I'm mistaken in thinking ~$150 isn't large scale but I'm sure many people on here spend at least that much in a six month period (five 250ml of Blue Dot will run you $187).

I've checked and double checked, but I can't find a problem with my numbers, yet the answers seem intuitively wrong.

Standard doorways are 6' 8" high by 28-32" wide. (203 cm x 76 cm)

It looks a little shorter and slightly less wide than a door, so we'll call it 195 cm x 70 cm.

That mound is reasonably close to a pillar in shape, so let's go with the formula for a cylinder: V = pi r^2 h

V = pi 35 cm^2 185 cm

V = 711,963.435 cm^3

V ~ 710,000 cm^3 (710 liters) (This is where it seems wrong- that's a lot. I used Google's "volume of a cylinder" calculator and this is what it gives me.)

This website gives a size of a single candle as 260 mm by 12 mm (among many others, but we'll go with this average-sounding one).

V = pi 0.6 cm^2 26 cm

V = 29.41 cm^3

V ~ 30 cm^3 (You can round differently if you want. I like whole numbers.)

The rest is easy.

That sculpture contains enough wax to make 24,000 candles.

This block of wax from Amazon has a size of 19'' long, 12'' wide and 1.5'' thick, which works out to 342 cm^3. in^3. It weighs 10 pounds/4.54 kg.

710,000 cm^3 / 342 cm^3 = 2076 ten pound blocks of wax. Meaning this thing weighs 20,760 pounds/9425 kg. (This also seems wrong. Ten tons would destroy the floor.)

Edit: Thanks to /u/lemmings121 for pointing out my error. 342 in^3 converts to 5604 cm^3. 710,000 cm^3 / 5604 cm^3 = 126.69 blocks. That's 1260 pounds/ 571 kg.

all it takes is a bit of simple math. you can buy everything you need aside from the liquid nicotine on amazon. i myself use 100%vg juice so i dont buy pg at all but a large bottle of vg will run you about 20 to 25 dollars, 1 gallon for me is 22 at the moment. you can also find packs of empty bottles for around 10 bucks, then youll need measuring syringes for mixing, flavor drops and the nicotine all of which are linked below.

i would just mix small batches first if you arent sure what a juice would taste like after your done then mix a full bottle, this way you can experiment with flavor mixes and see what you can create.

for a 100 ml bottle its really easy youll just need to figure out how much nic to put in, i vape at 6% nic so i measure out 94 ml of vg and the last remaining 6 ml i put in as the nicotine, after that the base is done, then just drop in the flavor drops, shake it like crazy, let it settle for a bit and boom juice done.

You can use paste wax, I also use parafin for planes, Gulf Wax, used for candles but easier to use for this purpose. This is what I use, but its cheaper in grocery stores.

Thank you! I like to save jars from cooking, and started thinking I could make some candles with them. So I bought an enormous amount of soy wax and candle wicks from Amazon for ~$30 total. I also had some essential oil samples that I saved from work for this purpose.
I made a double boiler with a large metal bowl and a large pot of water. Melted the wax down, let it sit for a minute or two, then added the oils (so they wouldn't evaporate as quickly? it seemed pretty hot, so just an idea).
Then I made a makeshift funnel out of parchment paper, wrapped the wicks around skewers to keep them in place, and poured it in!
One thing I noticed with the first batch is that it takes a LOT of fragrance to actually smell like anything when you burn it. So I doubled the amount I used for the remaining batches and it seemed good. I don't have any measurements but I'd estimate ~3oz of oil for 1lb of wax.
Also I will put a bunch of parchment paper or something down next time, because I made a complete mess while scooping and dripped wax all over my counters. Had to come back with a razor blade when it dried :)
Overall it was really fun and relaxing, and I only used about half of my supplies! Making the labels was also cathartic.
So all the candles pictured (including the two huge ones in the back!) cost about $15 to make.
They burn relatively evenly, but I do get a bit of unevenness like you said, especially with ones where I used more oil. They dry pretty smoothly though.

In the Rockin' Robbie video, he uses #1/0 candle wick. I'd say if you do a search for that specific size, you'll get better results. Of course, make sure it's lead-free, 100% undyed cotton.

Maybe try mixing in some paraffin wax next time. I use it when i make buckeyes. It helps the chocolate not be so soft and melty.

I've finally found what seems to be the PERFECT wick. Cotton square braid candle wick (#1/0). I got 10 yards for $7.99:

LorAnns, Hobby Lobby, and even some.Wal-Mart's sell organic "wick"(hemp, bamboo, cotton you want unbleached and 100% of whatever material, no nylon or polyester)

Also make sure to boil any organic wick for 15 minutes and never dry burn it. Oxidize any.mesh. if you use SS rope, add a layer of Oxidized mesh where the coil is or use some xc-116 ceramic sleeving(sng_vapor or bigtexvapor sells)

Essential oils just search for - obviously that's where part of the experimentation comes in. I use a mix of Frankincense, Amber, Cade (SUPER STRONG SMELL!!! very smoky), Black pepper, and sometimes Sandalwood. You can probably go to a Whole Foods - or similar - and find some essential oils to smell to get ideas too.

You should start making candles, I love doing it and they are super easy, there are tons of tutorials online.

Basic things you need that you might even already have:

Double boiler

old glass jars, containers etc.

color/scents

wicks

and a base such as soy or wax!

Craft it up!

I rebuild my T3s and ProTanks as well. I use a #4-40 Machine Screw, 32 gauge kanthal, and cotton wick (cotton square braid candle wick #1/0). 4 wraps gives me about a 2.1 - 2.3 ohm coil.

That's a bit of a tall order :)
Just give them a little wax along with the bowl. Tell them if it ever starts looking dull to just wipe some on.

You can buy butcher block oil for $12 or make your own.

Cheap, effective, edible finish:

1. Go to the drug store. Buy two $3 bottles of mineral oil. You will find it near the laxatives.
   
   
2. Go to the craft store or Amazon. Buy a bag of bees wax chips or a brick. Yellow or white - doesn't matter.

3. Pour first bottle of mineral oil into a small cooking pot. Heat up the mineral oil on low heat - many people use a double boiler but my stove goes super low so I am not as worried. Drop a few chunks of the wax in to see if it starts melting - that's the temperature you want. Stir wax in.
   The ratio is usually 50/50 but I also make a higher wax content version as well to make it more like a polish.
   
   Don't let it get too hot. Take it off the stove if needed.
   
   
4. Pour the mix into a clean jar (or many clean jars for gifts).
   
   Use the other bottle to do a first flood coat. Then After letting the wood absorb some mineral oil, just wipe of your home made finish on and wipe off a few mins later. This also works great on the lathe allowing you to buff the wax.

If you wanna go really cheap and simple, just get him a huge thing of glycerin

These are the three items to start the whole process. Mix the waxes as Ozzie describes. Also, as he says, the amount of wax you have to work with is enough for a very long time so initially, sure it costs more than a bottle of regular chain lube but over time it’s definitely a big money saver. It did take me a minute to find the right paraffin oil for the best price, but that was the one. Make sure to strip the chain really well first. Best bet would be to just start with a new chain, strip that, and then wax it.
