It's 18 individually wrapped Twix packaged in a row. Not at ALL what I wanted: https://www.amazon.com/Holiday-Caramel-Chocolate-Cookie-32-22-Ounce/dp/B00PROW6TM

u/JosieA3672 · 103 pointsr/veganketo

I'm on vegan CICO not vegan keto, but I know people who are and they tell me they eat: Beyond Meat (1 gram net carb), Beyond sausages (2 net carbs), Gardein chick'n strips are 4 net carb, Some nutritional yeasts are 1 net carb, Mushrooms 1 net carb, bell peppers are 3 net carb per 100 grams, 2 cups of spinach = 1 net carb, chinese cabbage = 1.5 carb per cup, some wraps are 1 or 2 net carbs, low carb bagels, low carb cookies, avocado pesto, low carb bread, shirataki rice & noodles. Here's an example of a low carb pizza wrap. Many of the more nutrient dense veggies are lower carb, so that's good, but really vegan keto is going to require a lot of creativity with sauces etc. Just doing low carb is much easier obviously.

edit to add - a few other lower carb meals I found looking through the sub I help mod:

u/hotsprings1234 · 10 pointsr/spicy

Do you have the link for this? I tried the following and it is 1 drop off extract in a lil square... Very F'IN hot

World's Hottest Chocolate Bar: Super spicy chocolate made with 9 million SHU. From Vat19. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HPBQYG7/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_nrGWDbBPXWT1Z

Unless money is of no object, you probably don't want to rely on pre-packaged products that label themselves as keto friendly.

|Product|Cost|Cost / 2000 calories|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Next Mile Meals Sausage Scramble |$9.50 |$35.85 |
|Next Mile Meals Beef Tacos|$14.00 |$48.28 |
|Keto Brick (single)|$12.00|$24.00|
|Keto Brick (seven)|$50.00|$14.29|
|Keto Brick (thirty) |$180.00|$12.00|
| Choczero |$14.99|$41.64|

You can make your own nut and seed mixes that come in around $5.00 per 2000 calories. Noatmeal can be made for about the same price, or a little more if you add brand name protein powder to it.

Just a word of caution about Choczero. It is made with monkfruit, which has <0.5 grams of sugar in it per tsp. Due to labeling requirements, products that have 1 tsp of monkfruit per serving can list it as zero carbs, as Choczero does, making it look like zero net carbs. One teaspoon or one serving of Choczero won't be a problem, but it's a source of hidden carbs if you consume chocolate like many other hikers. Additionally, some artificial sweeteners have no impact in small doses, but in larger doses can kick some people out of ketosis. Like most things keto, your mileage will vary.

u/AdelaideTheNoble · 7 pointsr/sugarfree

Hello!! Not to encourage bad habits.....But you could also just eat very dark chocolate. Since I quit sugar I can eat 80-90% dark chocolate and am fine with it :) 5g of sugar won't kill ya! And honestly these are big chunks so I usually only eat two with a side of nuts (mixed or almonds) so 2.5g of sugar DEFINITELY won't kill you.

This one is my favourite: https://www.amazon.com/Ghirardelli-Chocolate-Intense-Midnight-3-17-Ounce/dp/B001G0MG2I

Edit to say: If you're swearing it off as in not indulging AT ALL -- Then nuts are a great go to! And oddly enough, broth satisfies my cravings sometimes.

u/theflippist · 6 pointsr/food

Hi!
My friend just got them from amazon here...from what I've seen..definitely a good deal for so many.

u/WhaleMeatFantasy · 5 pointsr/unitedkingdom
  • Spread very thinly the first time on well buttered toast. When I was little I did fine without the butter but it is much better with it.

  • Then upgrade with a poached egg on top.

  • Also try cheese on toast with the Marmite under the cheese. Gosh, that's good.

  • Also works on cheese crackers with or without cheese. Similarly try it on anything bready like a bagel.

  • Smear it on sticks of raw veg (like crudites) to make them palatable.

  • Add it to a white sauce for pasta.

  • Add it sparingly to anything you might add soy sauce to like a stir-fry or other salty sauce.

  • Try Marmite chocolate

I don't recommend drinking it personally but it seems there are people who do.
u/pnwlchfmdiv · 4 pointsr/keto

And there are chocolate bars that have even fewer carbs. I actually like the taste of Wicked Dark over some 85% dark chocolate bars. The texture is a bit dry, but the flavor is really good. I also jus like saying Wicked Dark in a Boston accent; even though I'm not from nor even visited Boston.

u/iwrestledasharkonce · 4 pointsr/IAmA

Here's one of my favorites, super dark vegan chocolate.

It says it has 4 grams of protein, which would fit into his allowance. Lower grades have slightly less protein as well. I guess cacao beans carry some protein in them.

u/sassytaters · 4 pointsr/keto

I love those little summer sausage bites: http://www.johnsonville.com/products/beef-deli-bites.html

Got this recently at Kroger and it was great, but it's already been discontinued at my store: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z21YDQ4

Lily's Chocolate Bars are really good, but pricey: http://smile.amazon.com/LILYS-Chocolate-Variety-Coconut-Original/dp/B00PHMC9L4

Microwave Pork Rinds: http://smile.amazon.com/Lowreys-microwave-chicharrones-original-1-75-Ounce/dp/B000UPFWW6

Other than that, maybe individual sized packs of nuts, string cheeses, little sample jars of fancy nut butters (or like those squeeze packs of Justin's Almond Butter).

Congrats on the whole family getting on board. That's great.

u/ash-leg2 · 4 pointsr/shittyfoodporn

Yeah, you're right. I was coming here to say the same thing after I found them on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Twix-Caramel-Cookie-Chocolate-Candy/dp/B00PROW6TM

u/herecomesthedog · 3 pointsr/keto

it depends on each person individually. I ate quest bars my first time around on keto and they increased my carb cravings. I started eating one a day and soon I was eating two, and then three, daily. I plateaued while I was eating them, especially when eating two or more per day, and began to dropped weight quickly once I stopped eating them.

If you'e looking for something that is a "treat" on keto I would reccomend Ghirardelli 86% dark chocolate http://www.amazon.com/Ghirardelli-Chocolate-Intense-Midnight-3-17-Ounce/dp/B001G0MG2I/ref=pd_sim_gro_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=08BZNMR3TZBPFBSZ5P1W) or bulletproof coffee.

u/bluzytrix · 3 pointsr/keto

I love the Endangered Species chocolate at 88% cocoa. 10% of net profits are donated to helping endangered species. It's about 4.5 net grams of carbs for three pieces which is very doable depending on carb intake. It is VERY chocolaty and on while on a keto diet satisfyingly sweet. I usually get about 3 pieces a day in and it keeps me from craving anything else. Some days I skip it altogether.

u/PixelTreason · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

My absolute favs:

Taza Super Dark 85%

Tastes great but also the texture is amazing to me. I normally don't like very very dark chocolate because it's so hard and doesn't melt in your mouth quite right. But the texture of this is so crumbly and soft and it melts just beautifully.

Endangered Species Panther 88%

This is the sweetest and smoothest dark chocolate I've ever tried. It's really delicious.

Theo Pure 85% is also pretty darn good.

Edit: Oh wait - you said somewhat affordable. That kind of excludes the Taza - I only get it as a sometimes treat because of the expense.
The other two are on sale at Whole Foods often for 2 for $5 I believe.

u/pocketradish · 3 pointsr/keto

Sugar-free chocolate that comes in 1 oz individually wrapped portions - here's the Amazon link. I just finished my two boxes of the dark chocolate with hazelnut, and I just ordered the dark chocolate with almonds. They're really good! Only 2 net carbs per portion (some of the flavors are 3 net carbs). Satisfies my sweet tooth.

Choc Zero also makes several varieties of sugar-free syrups. I tried the maple syrup and it was totally gross though, so I don't really want to try any of the others. I'll stick with the chocolate!

u/piedoodle · 3 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

There are a quite a few flavors floating around but usually for a fairly high price.

Some that I found

apple

strawberry cheese cake

vanilla ice cream

pudding

pumpkin pudding

azuki bean

unfortunately we Canadians only have green tea and original on amazon....

Has 7 net carbs and I believe 3G of sugar per 4 squares. Though 2 squares is normally enough for me now :)

If only The Very Peculiar Marmite Chocolate Bar

I like red trillium. I just think it's pretty. Strawberry kitkats!

u/Silverthorne1660 · 2 pointsr/bikemessengers

Found a link to these on some road cycling forum. They feature a pretty high caloric density. And they also make a big mess with the seeds flaking off all over the place, so I usually eat them while riding or standing outside. If I need something more like a meal, there are usually food trucks hanging around my work area, even though I usually try to make it through my day without eating too much. And the obligatory free candy at reception desks.

u/fulfilledprophesy · 2 pointsr/funny

Ooooooh, I've not had Ghirardelli! I'll have to try that one.

Have you ever had Guylian

UK favourites - do you have Munchies and Rolos in the US? They're lovely.

These are vegan, peanut-free, gluten-free "Reese's" called PEANOT! How cute.

Optional healthy snack is salt and pepper pistacios! It's an add-on item, $5.35. If your daughter isn't the salt and pepper kind of girl, they have other flavors. These are healthy and you could stick them in 100-calorie packs in ziplock baggies in her lunch bag! =) My mom made me 100 calorie pack snack baggies of pistachios far into my adult years (I mean in college, AND after, when I had my first corporate job, and even now as a teacher, she'll send me back to my house after a visit with a bag of baggies of pistachios. My mom looks out for me!), giving her the nickname Most Amazing and Ever-Spoiling Mom in the World.

u/fwargh · 2 pointsr/ketorecipes

You'll want to putz around with the consistency (start with about a cup based on the above recipe and add from there, will probably be closer to 3c but I can't say for sure) but your favorite nut flour/meal ought to be a fine structural substitute for the powdered sugar - I'd suggest hazelnut or pecan ideally, but almond or walnut will work just fine as well - and just add in some artificial sweetener if it's not sweet enough for your taste.

As for the chocolate, you'll want to get the darkest you can, at least 70% but this would be my personal choice, and if you want more of that milk chocolate taste you can add a little sweetener and HWC when you melt it (not too much though, esp. of the latter).

Of course for the peanut butter you'll want to either make your own or get some with no sugar added.

Also don't really see what purpose the vegetable shortening serves that can't be taken care of with a little bit of butter instead, and that's going to be a much healthier fat than the shortening.

Doing that and following the recipe you linked, best guess you're looking at ~2-3g net carbs per piece.

Edit to add: Did a bit of Googling and found this. Seems like you're not the only one who's wanted these on keto, and seems like I'm definitely on the right track above.

u/youreabuttface · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I don't really have anything "bizarre", but I have this dress that I would probably never wear cause I'm too self conscious of my weight, along with this delicious looking stuff that would put me even farther away from the dream of wearing a purty latex dress.

edit: Also, to infinity and beyond

$10 on Amazon, get some, take a photo of you eating them while giving the finger, and send a pic to Ani

u/spices_and_kaajal · 2 pointsr/intermittentfasting

Oh hell yeah, if you're dealing with your cravings with cucumber and honeydew, you're killing it. On my worst days I break my fast with a slice of bread with cheese and then feel so bad about myself...

On good days it's lemon water and almonds and then I feel like a fuckin champ.

So I assume you're in the states since you said Whole Foods, if you're not I'm not sure I can help :)

I really like this brand "Lily's" for stevia sweetened chocolate. I've definitely seen it at my local WF, but it's cheaper to buy in bulk on Amazon so that's what I do: for example this, and for baking, this. Stevia is def my fave sweetner- I'm not big on sweets but when I'm craving sweet milk chai that's what I reach for! I know some of these are kinda expensive... but I'm betting you're saving money just by eating less, I know I am!

Also OMG 800cals is amazing. I need to get there.

$26 for 12. Good chocolate is going to be expensive, but reality, this could easily last more than a month. I maybe eat one frozen sq a night. Nice easy snack.

u/lovetoloveyababy · 2 pointsr/Baking

You would use a chocolate that has a cacao percentage right on the label, ideally not chocolate chips since they're a different makeup than a bar. Never milk chocolate.

u/WaffleApartment · 2 pointsr/secretsanta

It's on Amazon! Victory!

u/wrothish · 2 pointsr/keto

If possible... add these 88% dark bars (the carb levels are low enough that you can fit it in, and it's very hard to eat more than a few squares) to your stash.

I recommend that brand because the flavor is consistently excellent, but it's bitter enough that it is a good gateway to even higher percentages.

Try not to eat conventional chocolate even as a cheat -- 80-95% is incredibly sweet when one is full-on avoiding refined sugar, but IMO it tastes much less sweet and satisfying when one has had <60% recently.

Awesome that you halted your dive into the candy bag!

I've got Japanese Strawberry Kit Kat Bars on my food wishlist. I've never had this one before, but regular Kit Kats are good, and so are strawberry things, so what could possibly go wrong?

u/Ohthere530 · 1 pointr/keto

As your taste changes, you can accommodate super dark chocolate. This Taza Wicked Dark (95%) is one of my favorites.

I tend to eat a quarter bar (one snapped off section) which has 7g carbs minus 4g fiber. A nice little treat that easily fits my carb limit.

Ok so here are some numbers and products:

Lindt Excellence 99% (99% Cacao) If you can find it, (and enjoy it) this is the best of the best (imho)

Net carbs for the entire 50 gram bar is 1g of carbs. Just keep in mind that this will be intensely chocolatey and not very sweet at all, you really need to enjoy that kind of bitter real chocolate taste in order for this to satisfy you. Lindt also has a few lower percentage chocolates:

90% Cacao - about 7g net carbs for the whole 100 gram bar. About 2g net for 1/4 of the bar

85% Cacao - about 13g net carbs for the whole 100 gram bar. About 4g net for 1/4 of the bar

Green & Black's Dark Chocolate (85% Cacao) This is what I have at my work desk right now.

(The german one I mentioned (Scharffen Berger 82% Cocoa) has the same net carbs as the G&B bar)

For 12 pieces (about half the bar) the net carbs are 11g. The pieces themselves are about the size of the last digit of your pinky finger, and I typically eat one row of 3 pieces at a time.

For 3 good sized blocks it is about 3g of carbs, and is very satisfying.

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Bar (86% Cacao) I list this one because you are very likely to find it in any grocery store.

For 1/2 of the bar, the net carbs are 11g. For 1/4 of the bar, 5.5g. This is pretty much the highest carb super dark bar I have come across, but it will do in a pinch.

Of course there is always 100% cocoa baking chocolate that is completely unsweetened, but I think the people who greatly enjoy this are few and far between, so anywhere from 85%-99% are good choices.

Honestly you're better off if you just avoid all sugar alcohols except erythritol. Last time I did low carb I was eating the sugar-free Werther's, Russell stover, Reeses, etc, and I lost very little weight. I learned more recently that something about those sugars can still affect insulin and other processes, and I learned about this just after I had bought a whole bunch on sale. So now my SO eats them for me :)

Lily's chocolate 🍫 is good and is made with erythritol and stevia... and for me, for the first time in my life, I can have just a little, and not eat a whole bar. So even though they're a bit expensive, one bar lasts me about 3 days. So worth it. Here's the amazon link but honestly they're a little cheaper at Whole Foods, at least they were last week when they were on sale.

When dealing with a bear canister, it is more important to deal with calories per volume vs. calories per weight. A lot of food may pack a lot of calories per ounce, but may be too bulky. For example, cereal and pop tarts are both about 110 calories per ounce, but cereal will take up a lot more volume for the same amount of calories. Bagels are the same way, they are a good backpacking food, but tortillas take up a lot less room and are easier to pack. Some of the best calorie per volume foods I have seen are: peanut butter (or Justin's Nut Butter - even better), olive oil (a small 4 oz squirt bottle has almost 1000 calories), Snickers, and these.

FWIW, even with this in mind, my wife and I still had trouble fitting 4 days of food (8 days total) in a 900 cubic inch Bearikade, so I do feel your pain.
