You might need it when yours get blown off.
Not worth the money. I’ve said it many times here $40 is absolutely outrageous for a pair of socks.
The Nike socks are okay for a few ears then they’re just like normal socks.
You can get a “knock off” trusox on amazon for a fraction of the price. heres the link to them

Amazon has them too
If you're here for the long haul, it's your most important purchase. Kamik boots are my personal recommendation for a good value, but there are plenty of good brands. I see you're on foot a lot from other comments. YOU NEED HEAVY INSULATED BOOTS.
Also, the internet is always cheapest. You can make returns for free from amazon at khols.

Edit: Wool socks. Not a blend (except for Merino, which is only better because it can be less itch). W. O. O. L. Good pairs can be $20+ but when it's 0 degrees you're be happy you did it. You don't actually have to wash them every time you wear them (even if that sounds gross).

Snow gets you wet. If you want to be be comfortable, jeans will be your worst freaking enemy. Get some snow pants. Want to be warm and dry? Long johns. Or even flannel under the snow pants.
One of the investments that I have found useful lately is socks and underwear. Really regret not doing this earlier. My current recommendations are [Stance] (https://www.amazon.com/Stance-Classic-Socks-Black-White/dp/B012ZEVZD4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1486317599&sr=8-2&keywords=stance+crew+socks) crew socks. Might not have a lifetime guarantee but they are great quality and much more stylish and confy than darn tough. For underwear: exofficio or duluth underwear. [Exofficio] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DZLVDAC/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1) are amazingly comfortable and can be found for around $15 if you look for a sale. [Duluth] (http://m.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-underwear/mens-boxers-mens-briefs/76015.aspx) underwear can be found for $18 and will last you forever. They are less comfy than exofficio since they are much thicker and durable. They are both very breathable and you can honestly wear them a couple of days without smell if you really need to... Anyway, other than that I would recommend a decent multitool. I carry the Letherman style CS and use it to open beers and open boxes and the suck. Supper useful and practical.
Last bit of kitchen advise I can think of is to just get 1 good chef knife $35 victronix. 1 good cast iron skillet. And a couple of plates. Do not get a full set as they will become redundant and you'll get lazy about cleaning your dishes...
If there is anything specific you would like to pick my mind on, just let me know.

Great if you like the no socks look with summer shoes. They don’t slip down at all, and I walked 13.5 km all over Paris today with them!
I bought these from Amazon ($18.50 for 3 pair): [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HZSBOO6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]
I had tried numerous pairs from Amazon, the Rack and the like, but these were the best I have owned in terms of covering the top of my foot and never slipping (strong sticky on the back). They are fairly thin, but I have had them since May and wore the hell out of them through the summer and all three pairs are holding up fantastic.
Good luck!

There are tons on amazon. I'm happy with these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HZSBOO6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm a huge fan of [these no-show socks](http://www.amazon.com/SHEEC-SoleHugger-ACTIVE-3-Pair-No-Show/dp/B00ARHJUHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397942865. 6 pairs pretty much covers me. They're super comfortable and fairly thick (compared to all of the absurdly thin loafer socks I've tried).
They've also got Larry, Dennis, Dr J
A free house elf!
Ears
Potato Sack
Socks
I’d dirty up the socks a bit and trash the potato sack. Put one sock on and the ears and hold the other sock triumphantly as I proclaim myself a free elf.
These are amazing. They have a small silicon heel patch that keeps them from slipping off, I have 6 pairs and have never had any issues.
White Hanes Crew Socks.

I buy two packs every year or two and throw away the old ones. I have one pair that is tie dyed, got them from an old lover but those are basically my laundry day socks. I have a few pairs of thick wool socks, but they are too thick for my boots.
I swear by these brother

If you have a problem going without socks, look up liner socks. They're the best type of no-show socks imo.
Socks that dont show when you wear your shoe, kinda like this
I have 11.5 and have tried many many different socks but they all end up slipping (although I have no trouble with the size) except for these SHEEC socks. The large size says it goes all the way to 13 so maybe give it a try?

Haha, I've got regular white socks too!
I use these and they work great. [link] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H46N5K0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
These have worked really well for me. I also wear a size 12. They stay hidden even underneath boat shoes or similar styles, and they stay in place while I'm wearing them cuz they have a silicon grip thing in the heel. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FOSEULI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1RGOybZ6V5W64
I wear these

These are the best no-shows I've ever used. They could stand to be just a wee bit thicker, but that's a nitpick.
No Show Socks
I love socks. The bigger, thicker and taller the better. Even in SoCal in the summertime I'm wearing thick socks because the way I see it my feet will sweat no matter what and I might as well have them in quality fabric with good moisture.
The apaches are ankle high? They look similar to my iron rangers.
Timberland makes a tall boot sock that I really enjoy. Also, got some tall boot socks from Muji when I was in NYC last.
Carhartt socks I've found are super great as well. Strong, thick cushioning and a nice length. My last recommendation is Powersox. These are fantastic. I've had a few pairs for a couple of years now and while I have patched a few small holes, they are holding up well in the elastic region.
sell and buy the correct size, or get socks with the grips on the heel collar like this
I just want to make a few comments on an overall well done post.
Good luck boys.
