I got this cat fountain for under 20 bucks and it's got two modes "fountain" with two spigots, or "pool" where the water bubbles up from in the middle. It comes with two filters for it too.

Try putting water down for her in various parts of the house, and also try containers of different shapes and different materials--stainless, ceramic, glass, etc. You can also try raising a bowl to toilet height. My current dog likes this fountain, which doesn't hold a lot of water but works OK. He also likes to drink water from big, heavy glass beer mugs.

Why not try a fountain instead? Some are quite reasonably priced and, should you get a less expensive one, you won't be out much if she doesn't like it. And, if she does like it, you can later upgrade to a better one.

The one I'm thinking of:
https://smile.amazon.com/isYoung-Fountain-Automatic-Dispenser-Hygienic/dp/B01N0SGH3M/ref=sr_1_6?crid=5AULMMRN276E&keywords=cat+water+fountain&qid=1565043423&s=gateway&sprefix=Cat+water+%2Caps%2C150&sr=8-6

Chose this version based solely on price but some are rated better than others.

Not a foster but we've got two greys (both been through foster homes), one we've had for two years, the other for one year.

They do take some time to really settle in. For both of ours they were pretty relaxed from the get go but after around 3 months we saw a really big change in them. They'll start getting a little cheeky and trying to push the limits so just make sure you're firm with them during this period. But it's also the time they'll start being more affectionate and relaxed enough to roach.

Four days is still really new, I wouldn't worry about it yet!

BTW, our hounds will drink from the toilet too, I think it's the 'fresh' water that attracts them. We've got one of those recirculating water bowls (this one). They'll use this over the toilet bowl any time but will go back to the toilet if the recirculating bowl empties - even when there's fresh water in a regular bowl they could drink out of.

I had this one, and cleaning it was a bitch. Got this one, and it's the best. You can find it for much less than this link.

u/mobilehypo · 4 pointsr/Pets

We have one of these and our cats love it. It's a pretty cheap investment, and it honestly stopped a lot of yowling in our house. They have 'em in white and steel too. Best thing I ever bought, it's built like a tank.

u/SpeedGeek · 3 pointsr/Assistance

Some cats don't like a water bowl near their food bowl, so you could try moving the water dish elsewhere. I have a cat that will simply refuse to drink out of a still water bowl (and doesn't care for wet food), but loves to drink out of the faucet when I turn it on, so now our two cats share this fountain: Drinkwell Avalon (70 oz)

There are various sizes, but we've had ours for a couple months now and we're quite happy with it. The pump is quiet and it's easy to clean. Probably the biggest issue is just the ongoing purchasing of filters, but I've just got them on a subscription from Amazon.

Lastly, get with your vet as a precaution so you can make sure there's not an underlying issue. Keep us updated (with pictures :) )!

u/seaENT · 3 pointsr/cats

They really like fresh water. It's leftover from their wild times, where stagnant water was unsafe to drink from. You can buy fresh running water fountains for cats such as this one. You just have to make sure to change the water. Good luck with that cute little thing!

I travel quite frequently for several days at a time for my job. Biggest lifesaver for me (besides getting another cat to keep kitty#1 company) were these two things: Le Bistro & Cat It

Le Bistro comes in a few sizes. My friends have two small ones for their two cats, but I just got the one medium size that holds 10 lbs of food. My cat's eat 1/4 cup a day each so it lasts forever (I refill it once a month or so). The Cat it fountain comes in three sizes too... 2L, 3L and 10L. I only have the 3L and it lasts about 5-6 days without refilling.

It saves me in a pinch so that if I have to leave on short notice and no one can watch my kitties, I leave them with a clean litter box, a full feeder with new batteries and a full fountain of water. That way, if no one can drop by for 2-3 days or so, I know they'll be okay.

u/loganz · 3 pointsr/DoesAnybodyElse

some cats like to drink moving water. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Pet-6022-Drinking-Fountain/dp/B00329RZFE/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I14B750CCCQ3MM&colid=13RZLIOESRU0R

different problem here. my cats love drinking out of our glass water cups, so we started putting cups of water out, and they love it... they think they are human.

u/praisekitty · 3 pointsr/youseeingthisshit

This is the one I bought for my pets and it works wonders. It's completely silent, easy to clean and fill, cheap, and all my cats and dog drink from it. Give it a shot, Amazon does free returns if they don't like it.

Edit: like someone said below do watch out for chin acne. Keeping it clean will help.

u/johnmarkfoley · 3 pointsr/CatsInSinks

i got my cat one of these and he still waits by the sink expectantly. give em an inch...

u/SmooveTato · 3 pointsr/greatpyrenees

We have this one! Multi-species approved, except by my Pyr who distrusts it deeply and strongly prefers her water to be served in a river.

u/Maddprofessor · 2 pointsr/cats

Um, my amazon says $124.99. Too much for me. I'll just waste water leaving it on. My water bill is like $13 a month and the trickling faucet is a small percentage of that.

u/BitchesMakePuppies · 2 pointsr/DIY

I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MYIDK4?psc=1

When I bought it, it was $10 cheaper, and it is really quiet. My cats like it, but they still drink out of the toilet.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This pet drinking fountain has been a complete savior. I can't say enough good stuff about it. It's awesome. My two cats and my dog love it. They drink so much water and it keeps the water moving and filters it. My kitten LOVES playing with the water too. But the best part is, the mat (sold separately), keeps everything perfectly in place. My older cat used to knock the old water dish around all the time and dump it out.

u/starsburst · 2 pointsr/Rabbits

Sure.
http://amzn.com/B004OHQUUY
I really like it. Even got one for my mom for her cats.

u/crick2017 · 2 pointsr/cat

Cat are finicky about water and prefer running/flowing water over standing one - some more than others. This is also the reason why some cats paw in their water bowls.

You can look at getting a cat water fountain.

Catit Flower fountain is available for under 25 bucks, but if you are concerned about the cat playing with that, you can get a ceramic model. They would not tip over.

You can also look at something like this (but it is costly)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1RRSM8

u/cfrech59 · 2 pointsr/cats

It’s just a matter of time til one falls in.

Speaking of faucets: She needs her own sink

Or this kit which is motion activated

Or this

Or this motion activated beauty

Step on it

I could go on but you get the idea!

u/NippleNutz · 1 pointr/AskReddit

It costs money but this got rid of the water knocking thing since Lincoln pointed out they want the fresh water.

u/Intereo · 1 pointr/cats

I don't know if these brushes would help with the model you have but they make cleaning the Drinkwell brand pet fountains really easy. Not every cat is going to love a pet fountain but a lot of them do, just like not every cat drinks from the tap or demands fresh water with ice cubes.

u/FlareHeart · 1 pointr/Pets

Ahh I understand. Here's one I found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Pet-6022-Drinking-Fountain/dp/B00329RZFE

u/bookishgeek · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Right now, it's got to be filters for my cat's water dish - his old one is in bad shape and I don't want him to keep drinking crap, but I won't be able to buy a new one for a month.

This contest is so sweet, either way. Thank you very much.

u/raella69 · 1 pointr/Pets

I see. That is the Pagoda model. You have the Platinum fountain which is the first one I’ve had, though I currently have the Zen fountain. However I have found this Seascape fountain which I think is an improvement on the design of the Pagoda. How did you find the pdf for the Pagoda model? I want to make sure the filter is in the same spot for the Seascape model.

u/Iheartbaconz · 1 pointr/Pets

Ive had 2 different models of the auto cleaners. They work well for a while then fall apart. They are a giant pain in the ass to keep clean. My one male when he was a kitten and was facisnated by it. He would watch it clean, run back in, poop/pee more and just keep doing this. 1st one broke after a year. 2nd one was used and fell apart. Went back to 2 litter boxes with good litter and I dont mind.

As for a water fountain,We bought an older one of these. They are nice since they have a filter in them. I cant find the exact model but it looks close to that. Said male cat i mentioned above will stick his paws in the water bowl all the time. I have 2 small dogs and 2 cats and they empty the thing 3x a day. Its dishwasher safe so its nice to just toss it in there when it gets bad and I dont want to hand wash it.

We use this fountain. Our buns love it.

Had it for 2 years without issues! He hasn't tipped it over or even attempted to. He really likes to drink directly from the spout thing, too.

You do have to really clean this thing. The pump gets really dirty. It also starts making this loud humming noise when there's not enough water in the reservoir. A very irritating (but effective) reminder to fill up or clean it!

u/Bingbing0917 · 1 pointr/BeardedDragons

This is a small cat/dog fountain that contains a filter. According to the instructions, it's top shelf dishwasher safe. The small foot print helps when you have a 40g breeder and my guy is only 8 months I wanted to avoid any chance of drowning. It's also better than the reptile fountains out now because most of the don't have filters and harder to clean. The light can be controlled with a small push switch.

u/iyva · 1 pointr/CatAdvice

I am using the Drinkwell Platinum as well. Do you own the cleaning kit?

I keep mine upstairs and find it particularly difficult to lug it around full of water. I dump the old water out of my window before taking it downstairs.

The kit makes cleaning it easier, but it has all those awkward areas in the back where the pump is located..

1.) I like video games (PC mostly), spending time with my husband and my son, sleeping (or maybe I just appreciate what little sleep I get), watching British television series (the humor is so on point), and disguising my lack of sleep with makeup.

2.) Cat water fountain filters... I'm supposed to be replacing these more often than I am... it might keep the cat out of the toilet, but then again, it might not.

3.) I'd like to win because I like stuff :) Also, my birthday came and gone (I was in the hospital, I had just given birth) and I think everyone forgot about my birthday because of the baby, and I feel like I missed out.

4.) Moon Knight

5.) 100% fine giving you my address if I win :)

Thanks for the contest!

I looked to see if they had it on Amazon Canada. They did. But at a different price ...

That one looks easier to keep clean. I bought a different one for my bun a while ago. He definitely prefers it over the bottle I keep in his hutch as a backup/auxiliary water source.

^(The one I have: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MYIDK4?psc=1)

Make sure you gut load the feeders. They get a lot of their water from bug guts and greens. Also, if you drip the water onto their snout (avoiding their nostrils) they will usually clean that area which will force them to drink it. Another thing you can look into, if your humidity is already kinda low, is this: Pet Water Fountain, Uniclife Dog Cat Automatic Electric Drinking Bowl with LED Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DENJQU4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uP7-ybSYY0NSF

If you want to avoid plastic, they have a pretty good ceramic one, too. We have this one as well, but it's a little smaller. I had to fill it every morning. Now it's in a side room where it gets used, but not as often. There's a few other ceramic options, too. The metal and ceramic ones have been easier with cleaning, but they're definitely more money up front.

u/littlestray · 1 pointr/Pets

Yeah, plastics are great at causing feline acne. My cat had it too, and I switched from the plastic Drinkwell Platinum fountain which my father gifted us to the porcelain Drinkwell Avalon.

It was a big investment, but it's also far easier for me to refill (you literally just pour water in instead of lugging around the water chamber and turning it over like a Poland Springs fountain).

His acne's cleared up since.

u/marich92 · 1 pointr/cats

Definitely not! I had one cat when I bought it (now have two) and it was perfectly fine.

If you want a smaller one they also sell a mini size but you'll have t refill it more often:

We first started by putting a large mat under our cat’s water dish to catch the water but it’s still super annoying having a partially wet cat rubbing and walking on everything, so we got this cat water fountain and there has been no splashing ever since. Needs a weekly clean and replacement filters but totally worth it and holds multiple days worth of water.
