|about track|"Sandstorm" is a 12" and a CD single by the Finnish DJ Darude. The single was released by record label Neo in 1999 and re-released in 2000. Sandstorm was the best selling 12" worldwide in 2000. The song appeared as a licensed song on DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution. Sandstorm is of the trance music genre of electronic dance music. While we're talking techno, any other old school detroit technoheads out there? If there's a better programming album than Robert Hood's: Internal Empire out there I'm yet to hear it. Amazon has some samples http://www.amazon.com/Internal-Empire-Robert-Hood/dp/B000007SYA

Last Fm's also got some detroit techno: http://www.last.fm/tag/detroit+techno

I searched, but couldn't find one CD with all the songs on it. The closest I could find was Trance Party Volume Two which has two of the songs on it. Perhaps they were using more than one CD?

that's where i heard it, too! i'd love to be able to find some more trance like this... any suggestions? a friend of mine who had heard the song a while ago pointed out that there's a pretty good mix by DJ Irene available on Amazon (as well as other places) but... other than that, any suggestions?

Reaktor is a beast of a program. I remember playing with a demo of it back some 10 years ago or so and loving it. Never actually got around to buying it. Definitely purchasing right now!

FYI: I first learned about NI Reaktor from the album credits for Juno Reactor - Shango. It states on the last page:

> Juno Reactor use "Reaktor" modular synthesis and audio processing by Native Instruments.

And the sounds in those tracks are amazing.

Obumbratta by Apotheosis.

I actually rediscovered it. It was the second track I ever heard on Acid, after this one:

Anything off of Versus by Kings of Convenience. Or the Bamboos 4

Searching for the songs yields no results, but there are a few albums that might fit the bill, from circa 2000.

Any of those three?

[Edit:] It seems "Jimmy crack corn and I don't care" is from some form of nursery rhyme.
