Maybe you'll get something nice when it comes. I got a book on how to improve myself and a foreign CD with 3 songs on it. The only thing I own that has a CD drive is my Xbox. That CD is never going to feel the tickle of a laser reading its soul.
EDIT:
For reference, these are what I got...

Ravi Shankar is one of the world's greatest instrumentalists, friend of the Beatles father to Norah Jones. The reason there are only three tunes on your cd is because Indian classical music is generally played in long improvisational forms known as ragas. Here's is a track from your cd so you can enjoy the sublime pleasure of a musician who has had immeasurably influenced both eastern and western forms

and here is a tune by the Beatles directly influenced by Ravi Shankar

I'll take this chance to post my favorite album.

The K&D Sessions
Glad you enjoyed it. I can only think of two things...
It isn't fusion, but I would call it at least in the vicinity of the same headspace - Bob Marley/Bill Laswell - Dreams of Freedom.
A sample: Exodus
Also, you might take a look at The Grassy Knoll.
I would have a hard time classifying it, but to quote the allmusic.com review of the first album:
>"Nothing on The Grassy Knoll sounds like anything else before it, save the snatches here and there of a trumpet call right out of Miles Davis, a stab at Hendrix, a bit of Duane Eddy guitar, and loads of eerie electronics which whisper into your ear only to explode your head seconds later. Any further description might throw you completely off track, so suffice to say that The Grassy Knoll is made up of great grooves intertwined with creepy quiet parts that you can dance to."
(note this album was released in '94)

|about|Reel Big Fish ("RBF") is a ska punk band from Huntington Beach, California, United States who broke into the mainstream in the mid to late 1990s, formed in 1992. Their debut album, "Everything Sucks" (1995), was an underground hit and led to a deal with MOJO RECORDS (see also Mojo), an indie label. "Turn The Radio Off" (1996) established the band in the underground music scene, and they began touring throughout the USA.|

Why yes, I am a bot. I've been requested to comment in this subreddit.
Please let me know if I made a mistake!
NICE. I remember making mix CDs and that would be the final 'climax' ending track (with an epilogue track of course). Hard to belive this is so old now. Hang on to the CD of you have it. It's only by import to US,
but it is on itunesand it's not available digitally that i can find. It's called the K&D sessions. not piggybacking here, just trying to share.
my favorite track which is totally hypnotic

It's no coincidence that Legend just got a 30th anniversary pressing on three color vinyl.
Just bought a record player so my bank emptying new addiction has begun.

"Simmer Down" is ska from about '64. There are a bunch of 60's ska CDs out there but be careful because many, especially the compilations, have overlapping tracks. Here are some examples:
"Harder They Come" is early reggae from about '72. Between ska and reggae was a style called rock steady that was sort of like slow ska. Most ska CDs will have at least a few rock steady songs mixed in too. It's a little later than the time period of "Harder They Come" but the best selling reggae record of all time is Bob Marley - Legend and it's worth checking out if you're not familiar with it. Here are some examples of early reggae:
I also love the reggae album of dead songs. It's called "Fire on the Mountain" and can be found here...

I am just a huge fan of reggae music but I think the casual fan could ejoy it too.

This album of Bob Marley remixes is one of my favorites of all time.
Not his "best" or definitive or anything, but this is a great project by Bill Laswell using original studio recordings of Bob Marley and putting the music into more a dub context: http://www.amazon.com/Dreams-Freedom-Bob-Marley/dp/B000005HQ1
For more standard stuff, Exodus is a great place to start.
Interesting (except for the cheeseball vocals).
But what does it matter?
This is what he'll be remembered for:

The McDonald's of Reggae music? Ubiquitous, fills-a-hole, but hardly satisfying?
(Interestingly, there are twenty 5-star reviews. Perhaps more of a religion than entertainment ...)
I would probably recommend some kind of collection so you can figure out what parts of the genre you find most interesting. This is a good start.
When you find the style or kind of artist you like you can go on from there and dig deeper. Happy listening!
Reggae:
the entire compilation "Studio One Rockers". I can't think of any music that's easier to get into than this.
The Story of Jamaican Music.... it's a 4-disc set spanning 34 years, but over time I went from being indifferent to loving almost every song to death.
