Here you go:

Here, this is a Ceiling fan from Amazon, your shlong might have a harder time getting stuck on this one, it's reviews are very positive. Should your penis still run into aforementioned problems you may want to contact Brazzers for a possible job opportunity!

u/The__Spiral · 5 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

I sell these things for work (not specifically this model or brand, just general lighting and fixtures).

This would be a Minka-Aire F502.

You need to look at "ceiling fan remote control kit". These are kits that go into the fan housing itself, and control the speed; you leave it on all the time at the wall switch and have the chain speed set to max.

For example (just picked at random from Amazon, so I don't know if this is a good model): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TRTG8PS/

I solved this exact problem recently. Sadly my solution wasn't cheap, but it works really nicely (better than I expected tbh).

My needs:

  • Ceiling light with dimmer
  • Fan, adjustable
  • Switch on wall to control dimmer, fan speeds and lights on/off
  • Alexa integration
  • Zero delay between using the wall switch and the fan reacting

I couldn't find anything that used zeewave / zigbee, so I set up a parallel Insteon system. It was expensive, but it's way better than I had hoped. It's all immediate, the buttons have a nicer feel, aesthetics are nice etc. Hardware required was:

  • https://www.insteon.com/ceiling-fan-controller (~$80)
  • https://www.smarthome.com/insteon-2245-222-hub.html (~$80)
  • https://www.smarthome.com/2334-232-alt (~$80)
  • Nicer keypad buttons - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007S0CAMQ ($10)

Discounts can be found on all of those, perhaps ebay etc, ymmv.

If you go this route then here's some tips that I wish someone told me:

  • The insteon keypad scene buttons default to being in toggle mode - you need to change this to always on (or always off, doesn't actually matter)
  • The hot wire in the wall is connected to the keypad *and* the wire up to the fan controller (i.e. not in serial). The load of the keypad is just capped off. This means that the fan controller and the switch are always on. If you end up here please DM me to clarify if that doesn't make sense.

I'd love to hear your solution once you figure it out - hopefully you can beat me on price.

came here to say the same thing. I have two of these installed in my house. I did however wire it a little bit different than the way it was stated in the manual. I wired the light directly to the 6 button dimmer and then linked the 4 middle buttons to off/low/med/high with the fanlinc

Fanlinc box wired to the ceiling fan

keypad insert for the fan speeds

another option i considered but didnt actually pursue is the Aeotec micro dimmer that could be paired with a their wall swipe switch whenever it comes out.

There's this and this if you're looking at putting them to good use.

u/Notevenspecial · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

There is actually a weird looking box that will work in that space:

https://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-0200011-Support-2-Cubic-Inch-Capacity/dp/B0002YV1Q6

It is designed for ceiling fans, but would work there as well.

u/readmorebetter · 2 pointsr/roasting

Yeah, 2 min is too fast. You can really slow things down with a router controller. The downside is that it slows down the fan too, so you have to agitate manually if your beans won’t circulate. I don’t mind that though.

I got this one. Cheap, effective. So far so good.

I have 3 of the Hunter fans. They replaced older RF remote based fans that all had in wall mounted controls. I replaced them with a Hunter control that wires in the same way and works great with the fan.

Actually, /u/PerestroikaPal has never seen one of these. It is called the Westinghouse FanMaster ceiling box, and the big one is rated for a 70 pound fan:

Trust me on this. It works, and it works well. Mount your fan and make the connections. You'll be fine.

Yes! Thanks! I really appreciate that, you just saved me $40. I'll buy the Bundle to start and assuming it works out nicely I'll add in the extra switch afterwards. (And I see that if I later want those pedestals, I can get them for less than $10 each. Sweet!) Thanks again.

Somewhere between the UK plug and the wires connecting the LEDs is a power supply that provides a constant current source for the LEDs in the string. Because this internal power supply is regulated to always provide the same amount of power to the LEDs regardless of the AC input voltage and can accommodate a voltage range from probably 200V to 240V AC, varying the AC voltage going into the UK plug will not change the intensity of the LEDs. What you have to do is change the voltage going directly to the LEDs. You could hire someone to design and build a controller that uses an audio signal to control the voltage going to the LEDs, or you could just buy something like this

The device I linked is designed to drive a pair of RGB LED strings from a stereo audio input but you can connect a single color or white LED string to any one of the RGB outputs and it should work.

u/CrossHatch · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

Try these. the fan one spins too.

u/MyOther_UN_is_Clever · 1 pointr/homeautomation

So assuming you have seperate wires for light and fan motor, you need a smart switch for LEDs (assuming LEDs), and a seperate smart switch for fan motors. https://smile.amazon.com/MOES-Ceiling-Control-Compatible-Required/dp/B07HQ95N69/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=wifi+ceiling+fan+controller&qid=1555516380&s=gateway&sr=8-9

You can also get a smart universal controller, which is a little box you wire into the fan housing, and pretty much all fans are designed to fit one (hence universal). https://smile.amazon.com/NFS20Z-Enabled-Isolated-Fixture-Mounted/dp/B00WXLRF2U/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=wifi+ceiling+fan+controller&qid=1555516380&s=gateway&sr=8-15 The downside to this option is you can't control either from the wall switch (except on and off).

I haven't done too much looking, yet, but I do know that fans are usually 3 or 4 speed, so I'd look for switches that match (as opposed to ones that let you set any voltage). The motors are engineered to specifically run at certain speeds (it's a frequency thing).

For everything to work properly, the pull chains need to be set to max speed, max brightness. I recommend not adding the extensions that are often included, so people don't mess them up on accident.

u/Nightcinder · 1 pointr/lifx

late reply, but, I'm concerned that it wouldn't work on something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00067YOJ0 because of the cover?

Mostly concerned about there not being enough room, Lifx bulbs are huge.

u/EL_LUKEO · 1 pointr/homeautomation

I've added a new fan/light combo (no fixture there previously) as well as added a new switch to an existing fan/light that ran off of one switch. Both places I used a GE 12724 Smart Dimmer for the lights and a GE 1273 3-Speed Fan Control for the fan. It works great in my opinion, you can manually turn the fan and/or lights on/off or I can use my phone (connected to my Rpi3 DIY hub running homeassistant).

Here's what you'll have to do, it's a little bit of work but if you're handy it's not a very difficult job. If you have access to the fixture from the attic this will be 100% easier.

Assuming that there is a single 14/2 Romex wire from your current switch to the light you'll either have to:

  • pull another 14/2 Romex wire from the switch receptacle to the light fixture

  • replace the current wiring with a single 14/3 Romex wire

  • replace the current ceiling enclosure with an old-work fan-rated box assuming the box isn't ceiling fan-rated

  • assuming that the switch is in a single-gang enclosure replace the switch enclosure an old-work 2-gang enclosure

  • wire the fan and switches with the new 14/3 Romex or the dual 14/2 Romex wiring

Thanks for the responds and tips. I tried using a 50ft extension cord and it really had no effect on time. Maybe the 100ft will yield better results. I have also thought about getting this variable temp controller, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. https://www.amazon.com/Hongville-HV-FSC-Variable-Controller-Hydroponics/dp/B074D35YB8

u/Piratesfan02 · 1 pointr/homeowners

Yup. One of these.

Do you have access above the ceiling? You’ll want to get a good ceiling fan support, this one is rated for closed ceiling access.

Make sure your support can support the weight of your fan. It’s not difficult to do. Good luck!

In installed two of these last summer and plan to install two more

http://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-7802400-Contractors-52-Inch-Five-Blade/dp/B0011Z22ZE?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I did not want lights as the room already had recessed lights.

I used this type of box so I can mount it directly to a ceiling joist
http://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-Lighting-0103600-Saf-T-Pan-2-Inch/dp/B000DCN8ZY/ref=sr_1_12?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1462621916&sr=1-12&keywords=fan+ceiling+box

The its just a matter of cutting holes and running wire.

u/KentAshfield · 1 pointr/AskElectronics

well, technically it isnt a matter of no lights, they still operate with the pre-built features that come native with the device. the audio control feature just doesnt function.

any yes, the computer powering the device also supplies the audio out, which is then received by the device through the 3.5mm audio in.

I've adjusted all volumes to the recommended settings, and that was not successful.

For your reference, here is the exact controller
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQ3QOSY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As you can see, the audio and the power are "isolated" in the sense that the device is powered from one input and receives the audio from another.

Interference should not be an issue because I've run the cables far from the internal components.

I totally agree when you say it should work...and it does when it is connected to anything but my computer. So that makes me think that something specific about the audio line out / stereo out ports in this specific computer confuse the device...

I went with a lower profile, smaller ceiling fan:

http://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-7247300-Two-Light-Reversible-Three-Blade/dp/B00C8C48P6

I can still barely hit part of it (not the blades), but I have fairly low ceilings; it is a lot better than what I had before.

u/MrMallow · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

I mean, for a quality fan that is that complicated and intricate (that I would want to last) that is a totally reasonable price to pay.

EDIT:amazon listing for anyone interested. CTRL + F where to buy

For less than $20.00. Never fuck with chains or strings again. It even glows in dark. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00150AVUI

A ceiling fan for my tent. It's fantastically decadent

You can buy these for your home. I have this one.
