100th time I'm recommending this now, Spigen Rugged Armor. Unless you want a briefcase for a case, this is the best case out there imo.

I ordered mine the same day I ordered my phone and couldn't be happier with it, cousin has it too. Looks great, comfortable to hold, power and volume buttons effortless to press, proper cutouts for everything, and phone has been fine dropping it from 5' multiple times (of course, not something you should get in the habit of).

Also recommend this screen protector to go with it as it fits well with the case. Honestly though, as great as the screen protector is, I would opt to go for a glare free screen protector next time. Still, this protector does it's job.

Spigen Rugged Armor Galaxy S7 Edge Case with Resilient Shock Absorption and Carbon Fiber Design for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 2016 - Black

Love it. Very nice design, and good protection. It does take 1-2 mm from the edge screen on both sides but I dont care. you can't notice it.

u/12GA63 · 21 pointsr/Nexus6P

I've had this Spigen case for just under a year and I have had no complaints. It grips well, it holds its shape, and, imo, it looks pretty sharp. $12 on Amazon.

i really like the diztronic tpu case

a couple friends (who don't know what the OPO looks like) assumed my phone was caseless when they first saw it, its design is that good

u/SuperDece · 12 pointsr/GalaxyS7

I've used Spigen for my last 3 or 4 phones. The Rugged Armor has been great for my s7 edge. It's slightly thinner than Neo Hybrid, and only slightly thicker than the Thin Fit since it sits in front of the bezel on top and bottom.

u/dandeagle · 11 pointsr/Nexus6P

I can't believe how many people are still bashing the Nexus 6P in this thread, if you have moved on from the phone please unsubscribe from the sub. Wow.

Enjoy your new phone, I recommend a good case, because the phone is quite thin and slippy when cold or when your hands are moist.
This is the one I've used for 2 years -

If cases aren't your thing because of the added bulk then check out the dbrand website for a skin.

LG G3 reporting in:

I've been using the Spigen Rugged Armor since Thursday. It is slim and has some nice protection and a very good feel in the hands.

Looks like a Bear Motion

u/jif963 · 8 pointsr/gadgets

The LG G3 has an extended battery that changes it from a 3000 mAh battery to a 9000 mAh. My brother has one and, yeah, it makes the phone thicker, but it's also a case and lasts 3 days with heavy use.

u/courageousrobot · 8 pointsr/Nexus6P

Don't be lazy, link it! Here, I'll do it for you.

In fact, I'll just link to one of the best tempered glass protectors (as agreed on in that thread and from personal use).

Also, I know you said w/o a case, but here's a really awesome slim case that adds barely nothing to the footprint and feels great in hand.

u/Kyrrin · 8 pointsr/GooglePixel

Love my bear motion, super thin and a very nice texture.
https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Slim-Case-Google-Pixel/dp/B01M0NBJ79

Only minimal protection, though, but I keep a parallax around for days I might risk dropping or damage.

u/Accuratus · 8 pointsr/GooglePixel

The Spigen Rugged Armor Case is a solid choice imo. (not clear though)

I got this diztronic case from Amazon, I've dropped my phone quite a few times, even on concrete and it kept it completely safe and unscratched. It also doesn't add that much bulk to it

u/xlaxplaya · 7 pointsr/oneplus

I disagree with a lot of the Diztronic cons. Since when is ten bucks pricey? Also, "substantial" bulk? Really? It adds a couple millimeters to the front, but this is by design. And I definitely wouldn't consider it a "fingerprint magnet". In my experience, fingerprints only occur when my fingers are greasy from food, and they're easily wiped off.

u/Pleasant_Jim · 7 pointsr/news

Not the greatest battery but this and other alternatives exist: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Warranty-ZeroLemon-Extended-Protection-Protector/dp/B00NVR93IY

Other than that, its a great phone - literally no other issues with it at all.

u/jmowens51 · 7 pointsr/Nexus

Not sure how slim you want but I've been very happy with the Spigen Rugged Armor.

u/akashik · 7 pointsr/Nexus6P

All I wish was for it to be a little less slippery. I have mine in a case so it's fine, but I pull it out once in a while to clean out the dust (and to marvel at it's beauty). Every time I do I'm sure it's going to launch itself across the room and end up embedded in the wall.

Bear motion sandy case.

u/clabern · 7 pointsr/GooglePixel

I love my Maxboost case.

Here's a few pics of it on my Pixel. It's very thin, fits well, and has great coverage. There's a small lip over the front to protect the screen. The bottom doesn't have jagged edges to hurt my pinky with the phone is resting on it, and it has a nice "soft touch" finish. It isn't super grippy, but miles better than slick plastic or the metal on the naked phone.

u/dustinbiebert · 6 pointsr/GooglePixel

This. Fairly thin and good grip but offers great protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1EEXWJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_iRPgybXDSEJMY

u/dagaetch · 6 pointsr/essential

I just got a Tudia case yesterday. So far I like it. It's a very well made case, with the cutouts perfect and effective. Not a huge fan of the design elements, but whatever. It makes me feel much more comfortable, since the phone is so slippery without it. My only problem (which would be true of any case) is that the ridge around the screen compounds the pre-existing edge detection issues, so that's annoying. Hoping a future update from Essential fixes that however.

u/djdertate · 6 pointsr/oneplus

I have had the Diztronic TPU case for five months now and I love it. Offers good protection and pulls out of my pocket easily.

"new"

There's already a dent (bottom right) and wear around the charging port.

You could buy this which is 310$, this which is 25, this for 12, all 6 skins for 63$, and the Slickwraps for 27$.

310+25+63+12+27 is 437, which is almost 100$ cheaper then your asking price (535). (prices in USD)

u/catlatte · 6 pointsr/Nexus

I've had good experiences with Spigen in the past so I went with this one: http://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugged-Resilient-Ultimate-protection/dp/B016CBFBVI

It seems like it does the job well without adding too much bulk. Not sure how I feel about that faux carbon fiber look on the back though.

u/Deep4569 · 6 pointsr/Nexus6P

If you want a good case just get the carbon fiber spigen case from Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B016CBFBVI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_OMdzCb67XW8Z5

I have had this case for about 2 years now and have dropped my phone more times than I'd like to admit and have no dents/scratches on the phone screen. As for a screen protector just get any tempered glass protector. The 6p is such a nice phone hope you'll enjoy it, I just changed the battery recently and probably going to keep this phone till it officially gives out.

u/screwyluie · 5 pointsr/LGG3

Looks like a very flimsy and thin case. Would it protect the phone if it was dropped in a potentially screen shattering fall?

I purchased this clear case from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016CBF3DE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Fits like a glove, solid plastic, quite thick but not too thick, and has already protected it. Definitely recommend. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera to take a picture of my camera.

u/rawringbear · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

Awesome! You'll love it.
Would recommend a case. I really like this one from spigen: Nexus 6P Case, Spigen [Rugged Armor] Resilient [Black] Rugged Armor Ultimate protection and rugged design with matte finish for Nexus 6P (2015) - Black (SGP11797) ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016CBFBVI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oSAvxbVXHMAAB
It's slim and very durable.

I'd also recommend some extra cables. The yoozon are excellent and come in 3 pack of usb-c to USB
Type C Cable, Yoozon® 6.6ft/2m 56k ohm pull-up resistor USB Type C to Type A (USB-C to USB-A) Cable for LG G5, Nexus 6P,Nexus 5X and Other Type-C Supported Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017G8IRQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VUAvxb0S60JQ5

Finally. Personally I'd also recommend a tempered glass screen protector.

There are some other cool accessories to look at for VR and stuff, but that depends on your hobbies.

Happy droiding!

u/PrinceMeatloaf · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have This screen protector and it's amazing. Also this case fits it perfectly and looks great!

I bought (or received) about a dozen cases for my Edge, and by FAR, this one is my favorite:
https://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Unicorn-Premium-Protective-Samsung/dp/B01BLIBS0A

If you're looking for ultra tough/durable, they have a Unicorn Beetle Pro, but I'm not a fan of the bulky Otterbox style cases.

https://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Full-body-Holster-WITHOUT-Protector/dp/B01BLI4FWI/

Qi charger - Choetech Fast charger - https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charging-Pad-CHOE-Qi-Enabled-Adaptive/dp/B016DAFUGY/

Screen protector - Haven't found one I liked, and the glass ones ALL suck, but I had a decent time with these - https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Coverage-Anti-Bubble-Lifetime-Warranty/dp/B01ANIYOZ0/

u/wwereii · 5 pointsr/GalaxyS7

Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro
Doesn't include a screen protector but the plastic in the front makes it feel much more protected in a 360 way. Also it's not very bulky and feels grippy.

u/anotherDocObVious · 5 pointsr/oneplus

If it doesn't work with the Spigen rugged armor case, then 99% it will not work with the Diztronic TPU cases as well .. both of which i own.

Dang it! :(

u/UpvoteEmperor · 5 pointsr/oneplus

Most covers that aren't "ultra thin" or "snap on" will do the job just fine. I'm using the Spigen Rugged (not Hybrid) case from Amazon and it suits your requirements. It's probably also one of the best covers I've had for a phone.

u/jeromek · 5 pointsr/lgv20

I love the ringke onyx for this phone. Good grip on the sides, and pretty good durability and protection. I've used mine everyday for a year, and it looks great. Granted I go into an office everyday, and I'm not out on construction sites. https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Resilient-Durability-Anti-Slip-Defensive/dp/B01K5I9CB4

u/TTwoTerror · 5 pointsr/GooglePixel

These cases actually have a sandstone feel to the back similar to the Oneplus One. I had one of these for one of my devices and absolutely loved it.

Pixel:

The point of these slim cases in my opinion is to protect from scratches from in your pocket or sliding across a table rather than dents and dings that you'd get if you dropped the device. I'd recommend this from personal use. It is slim, protective, and aesthetically pleasing.

I second the Spigen rugged armor case. Was recommended to me, and it's a case that is snug, protective, and very good looking. You shouldn't have trouble putting a screen protector on with it either.

I really like my Caseology Parallax.

Before that, I had the Spigen Rugged Armor which I liked (the power and volume buttons are the best of any case ever) but it's kind of a boring looking case, which is I why I changed to the Caseology Parallax.

more of a smartphone accessory in general, the Scosche Magic Mounts:

https://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/mounts

used it with my Nexus 5, 6P and now with my Pixel. I just affix a new pad to the back of my case of choice and I can quickly and easily dock my phone in my car.

oh and I guess I should mention my Spigen case

I got this one and love it. Makes the phone all black and is the thinnest case I've found for the phone. It also has just enough lip on the face of the phone to prevent the glass screen from touching when face down.

You can find a good selection of covers for your controllers on amazon. Some look ridiculous but should keep you from breaking them.
For example

u/BalianTheMighty · 5 pointsr/Vive

Also, for anyone who doesn't have a 3d printer, you can buy almost the same thing on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1524343307&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=vive+controller+protector

They're garbage, though. My tracking went to shit after putting them on.

u/Pugs_of_war · 5 pointsr/EDC

If you just want a case, I suggest this. I buy this case for every phone I can, it's slim and very comfortable to hold.

If you want more pronounced buttons, Spigen has a near identical model.

PART TWO -- wrote this before seeing your VIVE arrives... basically tomorrow

-=- recommended accessories -=-
get the Deluxe Audio Strap. this is a MUST HAVE.

https://www.amazon.com/HTC-Vive-Deluxe-Audio-Strap-pc/dp/B06Y2GDXMC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=htc+vive+deluxe+audio+strap&qid=1555922928&s=videogames&sr=1-1

i don't consider this an accessory...this is just absolutely CRUCIAL. installation took me ~15-20 minutes after watching a youtube video on how to install as the instructions that ship with it are ...lacking. there's a video of a german guy who shows you have to install it easily.... this strap adds not only great sounding, adjustable and comfortable headphones but (more importantly) will secure the HMD in a way that makes the default strap seem laughable. this deluxe strap allows more comfortable wear of the HMD, better cord management and eliminates the need for supplying your own audio (be it earbuds or headphones) while i ordered all of these "accessories" and received them before my VIVE, i decided to try the original / shipped strap before installing the "deluxe" and words can't describe the difference in fit, comfort, and how great the audio from the adjustable integrated earphones sound. the headphones are able to "snap" in an upright position when you are either removing /storing the HMD or just need to lift one up to hear something someone is trying to tell you...

-=-2nd suggestion for "accessories"-=-

probably most important second only to the deluxe audio strap.... get these tripods. you don't want to mount your lighthouses to your wall... with these tripods you are able to place your lighthouses without drilling/mounting. it is way worth the investment as the stands are very secure, adjustable and the lighthouses screw directly into them. no other parts needed, just these two stands... you'll realize that you might have to fine-tune/tweak the placement of the lighthouses slightly, and with these stands you are able to make adjustments (not only in placement but with the ball/swivel you are able to change the angle/pitch etc.) which you couldn't do if you mounted them.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B6FDKZ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

-=-honorable mention -- not necessary but recommended...-=-

when i purchased my vive i made sure to get a nice stand to set the HMD/controllers on... (...i went a bit overboard with other accessories and for brevity i'll only mention two more accessories that i think you should pick up) here's the HMD/controller stand i purchased for when either storing the vive or to set it on while taking breaks/cooling off... . it isn't an absolute necessity but it gives it a nice place to rest the HMD/controllers during breaks between play (you will sweat a lot even in a cold room, i know i'm out of shape but with titles like sairento, sprint vector, space pirate etcetc i take breaks just to let my face breathe and cool off.) this beats just setting the HMD on the ground or on a nearby table which could easily fall off.... your call, but -- again, protect your investment!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D1N5GP4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

"Skywin VR cable management system"
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0733NN7G8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

-- these are simply pullies that attach to your ceiling, allowing the cable to be out of the way of the ground... personal preference here but i find these very useful (especially with titles where i'm moving around a lot... sairento, gorn, QuiVR etc) ... protip: i went to walmart etc, purchased -several- packs of 3M "Command" large picture and frame hanging strips 16lb "large picture hanging strips" and have them all over my ceiling at different strategic places (depending on if i'm playing a title that requires my entire room i.e having to move my bed for the max. play area, or if i'm playing a title that requires only the smallest room setup or even for sitting) so using the 3M strips instead of the adhesive that comes with the pullies in the kit, i'm able to switch around the location of the pullies to suit each above situation...also, they remove without damaging your ceiling... if you have any questions on this just message me and i'd be happy to elaborate.
-=-
last accessory suggestion -- after watching videos of people punching holes in their walls etc. i decided to grab these protective frames which have saved my walls and possible harm to my controllers when demoing my vive to friends (even though when demoing i always have chaperone on "beginner", floor bounds on etc) it -never- fails that they will try to throw a grenade and hit my ceiling, swing a punch while playing Gorn and instead of my vive controller slamming into the wall, the cage around the circular top part absorbs the impact and deflects/redistributes the force from one point of contact to several. just throwing this out there, just in case you or someone you are showing it to will be inadvertently throwing your controller into your wall

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

final thoughts/closing: hmm. well, i think i said a LOT here and hope that your experience with installation is pleasant. again, let us all know how your first experience went and feel free to ask any questions.

I bought 3 cases:

  • Spigen Ultra Hybrid
  • ESR Crystal Clear Slim Soft TPU
  • Humixx Aluminum Bumper Frame

I've used Spigen cases before but this one had weird sharp notches on the corners at the back to prevent the wobble from the camera section protruding, that turned me off that case.

The bumper seemed ok but was a little bulkier than I wanted and mine didn't contain the rear screen protector either

I ended up settling for the ESR case and am still using it now. It's soft TPU and fits snugly. I have the dark one (to go with the dark phone) and you can still see the logo and stuff through the back of the case. It has the corner drop protection and the slightly raised ridge prevent the camera or the screen from touching the surface you put it on (assuming the surface is hard). They all seem to work with the Qi chargers I have too.

I took all 3 cases into work as another guy was also getting the phone. He checked them all and also ended up buying the ESR case.

On the downside, I've just bought some new gloves that allow me to use the touchscreen and the case seems a little slipper with the gloves on, but then I expect a lot of cases would (unless you get those weird cases with all the ridges and angles which I'm not keen on).

I'm always on the lookout for other better, more suitable cases but haven't found one I liked yet.

Ive had my X for about a month, switching over from the Galaxy S8 so heres my experience

> What kind of case should I get for the X

I have a tempered glass screen protector for the screen and a really chunky bumper case with a clear plastic back (https://www.amazon.co.uk/iPhone-Spigen%C2%AE-Cushion-Technology-Protection/dp/B074CMHQW5/ref=sr_1_6?s=telephone&ie=UTF8&qid=1524581014&sr=1-6&keywords=iphone+x+case) so you can still see the lovely apple logo. I use this as it is grippy, adds a bit of heft to the phone and also the camera cutout is protruded so the lens never touches the surface when i put the phone down. Also, a bit of a placebo but it does give me a bit of drop confidence as the rubber bumper is quite thick and reinforced. If you play alot of games the extra size makes it comfortable to hold for long periods although that same heft might be a downside for gym use. Its great for taking pics as the lens has a low chance of ever being damaged or scratched.

> Would I be a fool to start my iPhone X life with it being a blank slate instead of having the Apple techs clone my current phone setup onto it today?

Im a nerd and always start from scratch on all phones I get cos i enjoy the experience but if you 're in the Apple eco system I guess it would only benefit you by transferring your stuff across?

> do magnets do any damage to the IPhone X

I have a magnet mount in my car and have not had any issues as of yet

> Is there anything I can now do better or differently with my iMac by having the X

I dont have a Mac but I don think theres anything in addition to the X that can be done that other iPhones cant do. The extra spec bump in video recording is great, depends on how seriously you want to get into it if you want to consider getting better equipment.

> is my dumpy series 0 watch going to be a. Detriment to the glory that is the X

I dont have an Apple Watch but really want to get one so this would also be good for me to know lol

> And finally——— any X owners feel like suggesting a game or a two or an app that is just a beast on the X

I dont game much on the X as of yet but when I had an iPhone 6, I purchased Star Wars Knights of the Old republic and played it like ass.
I also bought the game again on the Galaxy S8 and although alot smoother, it still crashed alot. However, on the X it is just a dream. Plays beautifully!

Also, one thing I would recommend is getting a 12w iPad charger for the X, charges much faster compared to in the box charger and it does not require you to get an expensive USB C to lightning cable, you can just use the regular lightning cable.

Just go with the Spigen Rugged Armor. It says it is for the Oneplus 3 but it will also fit the Oneplus 3T. It looks like a hard case but it is actually thin and malleable while still offering good protection.

Diztronic is the go-to recommendation. TPU is basically like rubber but more resistant to tearing and puncturing.

They also have a beefier "Ultra" version: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Ultra-TPU-Case-OnePlus/dp/B00OSS12Z2

u/sumchinesewill · 3 pointsr/oneplus

The clear case from Oneplus does not really protect the top or the bottom of the phone. It just protects the back and the side and it's slippery as hell.

I would go a diztronic case

Diztronic

and a tempered glass screen protector. The most popular one it seems is Orzly, although I've had issues with it, it seems to be the best one from reviews

Orzly

There is no cases out right now that will keep the sandstone look unless you get a clear case but it'll still make it look washed out. You can get an aluminum bumper case but it cases reception issues.

u/mehtabg · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I bought the Tudia case when I first bought the phone but I found that it added too much bulk to the phone and caught way too many fingerprints on the glossy back.

I've since bought the Diztronic TPU case and I love it. I would definitely recommend it if you were looking for a matte black case! (Link: http://www.amazon.ca/Diztronic-Matte-Black-Flexible-OnePlus/dp/B00MBS1NA0)

I've had two cases so far, The Diztronic case that that has been mentioned, and this one.

The Diztronic I had first since everyone recommended it. It is really well made, fits nicely, its thin, all around great except... it's really slippery. Makes it difficult to use with one hand without it sliding off my palm. Multiple times I almost dropped the phone because of this.

Then I got Tudia case. I wanted something with a little more grip. This one has smooth/glossy border around the sides which kind of 'sticks' to your skin, making it much easier to use one-handed less likely to be dropped. On the down side, it does hold fingerprints around that thin border area. The quality is a bit lower as well, you can see the the lines from the molding process (which you can't on the Diztronic).

Overall, I'm kind of torn. The Diztronic is much nicer to look at, but the Tudia feels safer and makes the phone easier to hold. I'm going to give each more time, but thought I'd share my thoughts.

I converted my whole household into wireless charging. I keep the little puck chargers around the house. My wife has an iphone 5s so I converted her phone to wireless charging as well.

The puck chargers I use are the powerbot chargers: http://smile.amazon.com/PowerBot-Enabled-Wireless-Charger-Smartphones/dp/B00F6SPYJS/ref=pd_bxgy_107_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1ZB69PZ9QEYM3AFEKCG4

With that setup it works fine. You do have to line it up pretty close, but once you figure out where that is, it is quick. The key is making sure you have the charger hooked to a sufficient power supply otherwise it will keep disconnecting.

u/Blitzsturm · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

I use a Spigen Thin Fit case which is close enoguh to the natural profile that a DBrand Skin fits over it perfectly.

I use a black carbon skin with red carbon text and camera inlay. Looks fucking amazing, adds very little to the size of the phone and adds a basic protective value.

Check out the skins and see if there's one you like. Another bonus is you can get multiple cases and multiple skins and swap them with minimal effort.

Also if you're into wood grain Toast has some nice looking stuff, but you'd need to put that on the phone it's self since it wraps.

u/Ausvego · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

I bought both of these cases myself, actually. I didn't like the Rugged Armor case, the hole on the back is very small, with steep edges, which makes the angle your finger has to be at to unlock the phone rather unnatural, and hard to reach. I really liked the SUPCASE, the hole on the back is really big, so very easy to unlock, and it's good protection for the phone, as well as the clear back looking nice. It does add a bit of bulk to the phone, so I have opted for another one, a different Spigen case, which is on my phone now. It's a lot better than the rugged armor one in terms of the fingerprint scanner, but still not as easy access as the Supcase. It is very low-profile, though, which isn't a huge amount of protection, but if you're like me, and rarely drop your phone, it's good, and looks nice. If I'm traveling, or in a situation where my phone might be used a little more roughly, I would definitely prefer the Supcase over anything else.

u/ga9213 · 3 pointsr/S7Edge

I'm quite careful with mine and was a fan of the spigen rugged armor for my Nexus 6P so that's what I'm going with again here. Very slim, yet adequate protection for the occasional minor drop.

(I own a S7 Edge)

I currently use Spigen Slim armor, it's protected my S7 from so many scratches however the scratches are very noticeable on the case.

Unfortunately there is not many great glass screen protectors for the S7 Edge, this shouldn't be a problem for the S7, the gorilla glass is great however even a cheap protector could be a lifesaver. (I believe everyone is waiting for the Zagg glass screen protector which should come out in the next two months.)

I'm considering changing case to either this or this

Spigen Rugged Armor.

Pros : Minimum bulk, adds grip, easy to install/remove as it's flexible.

Cons : It hides the nice Aluminium back of the phone and logo. But there is the Ultra Hybrid case which is transparent.

Coupled with the Orzly 2.5D TGSP V2. Some people notice the dotted layer on the TGSP, but I don't, at all... Have to make sure that it is perfectly applied and centered so it doesn't interfere with the case.

There are covers you can get.

They'll protect against scuffs, but obviously if you smash the thing hard enough you might just snap the plastic. I find the best way to avoid this sort of stuff is to just not go completely wild with my movement. There's also an application called [OpenVR Advanced Settings] (https://github.com/matzman666/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings) that lets you customize chaperone boundaries. It lets you adjust chaperone height, which might be helpful in giving you an idea of how high the ceiling is. .

Bear Motion was my favorite until I found the maxboost one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3MQCG0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I love a minimal case and this one feels premium (super soft to the touch). I love that it has large cutouts for the buttons and camera sensors. I found the bear motion to interfere with autofocus and collect a lot of dust, it also always worried me that that case didn't protect the top and bottom edges of the phone.

I have tried the TUDIA TAMM TPU Bumper Shock Absorption Cover in Black and am currently using the Incipio NGP Pure Case in Clear.

The TUDIA one is provides a better grip, and it's slightly thicker. The TUDIA one may provide better drop protection, but I'm mostly basing that on the fact that the case is more rigid when it's off and it's slightly thicker. The Incipio one is rated to protect from 3-foot drops. I have read a couple reports about the Incipio NGP case having mushy buttons, but I actually like the way the buttons feel, even more so with the case on than off, in fact.

Another popular case is the Viva Madrid Metalico Flex Clear Back Case. I haven't used it, but based on reports I have read, the case isn't perfect and the Incipio NGP is a better one.

If you want a heavy-duty case, similar to Otterox, check out the (Incipio DualPro)[https://www.incipio.com/cases/smartphone-cases/essential-cases-covers/essential-cases/dualpro-essential-case.html]. I originally ordered that, but decided to cancel the order because I wanted a clear case so I can see the phone in all its glory. One thing to note with clear cases is that they may turn yellowish over time; I don't know if that's the case for Incipio cases, but that's somewhat typical of clear cases in general.

If you purchase any Incipio cases from Incipio.com, use code INCAFF for 15% off.

u/WhipTheLlama · 3 pointsr/essential

I've got this Tudia case. In black, it's not as garish as in the photo. I normally dislike cases and my last few phones have all been caseless. The EP is just so ridiculously slippery that I'm pretty sure I'll drop it. I might decide to use a skin instead of a case, but if I'm ruining the look of the phone then maybe I might as well have it protected with a full case.

Pros:

  • Great grip
  • Seems like it offers decent protection
  • The buttons are great. Most case buttons suck, but these are as good as the naked buttons.
  • The cutout around the fingerprint sensor makes it easier to find with your finger

    Cons:

  • The phone has such small bezels that even a small case overlap causes some minor problems touching the screen edges. Solvable with some careful touching.
  • The design on the back is ugly.
u/galleria_suit · 3 pointsr/essential

Screen protector
Case

Had them since Oct 2017 and still going great. Case is tight, not stretched. I cracked one screen protector with my keys and bought another.

Only issue I've had with the screen protector is it doesn't adhere to the screen, it just sticks around the edge.. so I get dust under it occasionally. But, it's also easy to pull off (intentionally mind you) and clean, so you can re-apply it and it works great again. Looks great.

I really like Maxboost case. Super thin, snug fit and not slippery (especially after a week or so). Also not too grippy when trying to get it out of your pocket. I dropped my phone on tile the other day face down and the raised edge protected the phone beautifully.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They make the controllers very heavy. After taking both the protective shell and skin off the controllers it felt like the controllers had no weight to them at all. I took them off because I was having tracking issues and because I'm not doing anything but development right now. Most likely the tracking issues are my own fault - my setup isn't the best and I haven't taken the time to improve it.

I am 6'5" or so. I hit my ceiling when playing games, so the shell is great for protecting my controllers. I'd recommend them for problem games but not for full time use.

Best thin and low profile case is the Diztronic Ultra TPU Matte case. Hands down. It offers the drop protection of a TPU, yet it's the case that adds the least amount of bulk.

I think it's out of stock right now on Amazon but you can probably Google around and find it on Ebay. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NVR93IY/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_FaYmub02GBG3W

I got mine from Amazon. I just checked and it looks like I got it just in time because it's currently unavailable :/

I have this one and I absolutely love it. Doesn't add much bulk and it looks sharp.

u/GustoB · 2 pointsr/nexus6

That is also the one I'm rocking. I love it. It's stood up to dropping several times, and the kickstand comes in handy (although it's not quite up to par with the ahem Thunderbolt's that I used to have). The cutout for the M also helps make it easier to hold onto, and the blue one matches the N6 blue quite well unlike a lot of cases.

Spigen Slim Armor along with a random tempered glass screen protector from Amazon.

Not the prettiest case, but I do like the kickstand.

u/landonianb · 2 pointsr/nexus6

That Slim Armor case looks almost black.. Is it this dark blue one, or is there a black one?

I have a Spigen case for my phone and I love it. But they totally deserve 1 star reviews for doing this.

Edit: grammar

u/rusrslythatdumb · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I rotate between three:

  • Spigen Bumper
  • Caseology Slim Fit
  • Ringke Slim

I have a Spigen heavy duty case, but I rarely use it because it adds too much bulk. I did protect it from my driveway, though, when it feel out of my pocket from about a 4 foot height.
u/jb7410 · 2 pointsr/nexus6

Honestly I just don't use cases that often. I get an emergency case for when I go out (I bought this one, super sleek: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OH4HLJ8?psc=1) but that's about it. To show off the back many people got this case http://www.amazon.com/Spigen%C2%AE-Cushioned-Gunmetal-Scratch-Resistant/dp/B00OH4I2LY# or any other clear case. Haven't seen many bumpers around but I'm sure more will come out soon.

u/tmhiott · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I already have several Qi Chargers I used with my Nexus 5. I have 5 of these spread around my work/house/car.

I bought both the Ringke Fusion and the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Once I get them and the phone, i'll be doing a comparison video.

I also bought a Black Titanium Dbrand skin. I bought a 32GB Cloud White today, so with that skin I'll essentially have a black phone.

u/KYL0C0 · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I bought the Spigen Ultra Hybrid in Gunmetal with my Cloud White. It shows off the back with a somewhat glossy coated clear back. And the Gunmetal compliments both Cloud White and Midnight Blue!

u/my5dollarFTlong · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Series with gunmetal (gray) bumper and clear back. If you want to show off your phone and have protection i'd go with this case. Its slim too. Doesn't add much bulk to the back or the sides. The clear back is a fingerprint/smeare magnet but can easily be wiped off. Cut outs a damn near exact and its a tight fit all around. The price is good too. Link

Edit: The bumper and backing add for more grip. I haven't felt like i'm about to drop the thing when holding it loosely compared to without the case.

u/Andranik136 · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I just bought this today and couldn't be happier with a case. Its slim, has screen protection, and feels really premium. Also shows the Nexus 6 original design without altering it much. Hope you consider this.

u/Lampwick · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Currently using a Ringke case with the ovals for the power button and volume rocker cut out with an X-Acto knife. This puts the buttons at the bottom of a hole where they won't be bumped by anything, but they're still usable.

u/ChochiWpg · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm using this one and really like it. Clear so it doesn't cover up the natural beauty of the device. It's not bulky, buttons are very clicky and easy to use and comes with a screen protector as well. I really enjoy it.

u/Arcendus · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

You could opt for a clear case, like the Ringke Fusion (http://amzn.com/B01637DS70) or Spigen Ultra Hybrid (http://amzn.com/B016CBF3DE). I use the Ringke Fusion with a back-only skin and it works wonderfully.

u/mogruith · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I bought the PRO version and it sits very close to the edge of the screen, but I haven't had a case friendly version to compare. Since the Live Case is so form fitting to the edges of the phone, however, it doesn't touch the protector.

Also I've used this clear Spigen case and also have had no problems using it with the IntelliArmor PRO screen protector. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016CBF3DE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_d2PAxbTRZNVWQ

u/BoWeiner · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I do use a case. I use the spigen ultra clear. I think it's their thinnest model. I hate cases, but this phone is just too Slippery for one hand use without a case.

Here's the one I have.

u/PRO4X · 2 pointsr/Nexus

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case. Satisfies two things for me: 1) doesn't make the phone more big or bulky, 2) the back is visible so it doesn't hide the Nexus logo and the color of the phone. I really like it but my only complaint is when I want to take screenshots I would need to press the power button and the volume up button and when I press both at the same time, it only increases the volume. Not sure why it does this but on reviews, I see people cutting off the power and volume button covers and I'm assuming its because of the screenshot problem.

u/lament · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Love it.

Too slippery to go bareback.

u/xFIJI · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Headphones: Jaybirds. Sweat proof. Lifetime warranty on sweat. Great sound for the price. Perfect for gym or just casual. Wait for x3's. I got x2 they have problem with battery completely dying (atleast in my case), but the company always down to fix them. x3 coming out around October ("Fall") I think.

Case: Google live case, because swag and scratch protection. You can totally get cheaper/better (less swag) on Amazon. Spigen Rugged Armor comes in mind. Looks good but doesn't really protect the screen, you will need a bulky one for that.

u/sdneidich · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Does it happen in other locations? I thought my phone was powering itself off, but since it only happened in pocket, I theorize that it was the button getting hit. It was worse when I used this case but stopped when I switched to a Feather Case (can't find at the moment) which had a recession for the button.

In short, the more the button stuck out, the more this problem happened for me.

u/TrevorX5J9 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Check out either the Spigen Rugged Armor or the Unicorn Beetle Pro. The first one is more of a slim/sleek option and the second is more akin to an Otterbox. I own both and I prefer the Unicorn mostly because I'm clumsy and it'll protect from drops. It's a fair amount thicker than the Rugged Armor however. As for glass screen protectors, check out the Spigen Glass Screen protector. It's a perfect fit and I've had my screen saved once by it. Smooth to the touch as it should be.

For me it's pretty slippery so a case was necessary. I got this case and it's perfect: still super thin with barely any bulk and it feels nice in the hand.

I went with the slate/black colour and it never ceases to amaze me with its sleek design!

u/sri745 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Ah, my mistake, so the glass cover I got worked fine with this case: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugged-Resilient-Ultimate-protection/dp/B016CBFBVI.

When I ordered mine, they only had one type of screen protector...my best guess would be to go with the "case friendly" one if you plan on using one with a case.

u/victorvito · 2 pointsr/EDC
u/rarandar · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I actually had that same Spigen case and got a replacement case for the same reason! I went with another Spigen Case. This one is a different, more flexible material that won't crack and it wraps around the whole phone. The only thing I missed was the cutouts for the volume and power buttons but I've gotten used to this one now! I like the look of this one too.

u/ornryactor · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm pretty minimalist in my preferences (and, more importantly, don't have access to a good printer). As an illustration, my regular case is the Spigen Rugged Armor. If I do get the Ringke Fusion, I'm sure I'll just use it as-is, put the adapter on it, and learn to not be bothered by it. In the end, a slightly-less-than-preferable case on a securely-attached phone is better than an ideal case on a smashed-to-bits phone.

u/railo · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I ordered Spigen's Rugged Armor case myself just the other day along with Orzly's screen protector and a few Type-C accessories from Anker. http://www.amazon.de/Spigen-SGP11797-Schutzh%C3%BClle-RUGGED-schwarz-Armor-Black/dp/B016CBFBVI

u/notmyname1 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have an Intelliarmor TGSP and love it. I also own 3 cases:

  • The Adopted from the Google store. This is my favorite case overall. It's minimal, adds very little bulk, and has grippy sides.

  • Spigen Rugged Armor. People seem to love this case, but I just don't get it. It doesn't add any grip, so you still feel like you'll drop it. And the carbon fiber absurdity on the back is humiliating.

  • Supcase - This is not an attractive case, and it does add some extra bulk over the Adopted. However, it does feel a bit more protective. I actually dropped my phone from waist-height onto a tile floor and my phone escaped blemish-free. I was trying this out, and will likely leave this on for now.

NOTE: All 3 of these cases work great with the Intelliarmor TGSP.
u/MrChow13 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have the same metal plate on my 6p and use this case with the magnet between the case and the phone. It may lose some of its strength but I use the mount in my car daily as well and it has never once fallen off even after abrupt turns and braking so clearly still has enough strength to securely hold the phone. Plus the metal plate is entirely invisible.

A few things I recommend:

  1. CD Car Mount. They seem to hold the phone better than air vent mounts

  2. Power Bank

  3. Tempered Glass Screen Protector

  4. Spiggen Rugged Thin Case

  5. USB Type A to Type C for laptop/other chargers
u/Pidgiano · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I've got 4 cases I rotate on my Nexus 6P, the first case I got turns out to be the best , feels good, looks good, nice grip,

RINGKE FUSION Smoke Black

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B006LPWJQG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1463039118&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=6p+ringke+smoke&dpPl=1&dpID=51mrrdb1v%2BL&ref=plSrch

Must have case for all Nexus 6P , you won't regret it,

Next up is the Cover Up Woodback Explorer, Gold Lightning Bolt..... As soon as I saw the black wood finish with the gold Lightning Bolt I wanted it, very easy to fit, light weight and nice grip on the edges, looks real classy

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01AAFF54U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1463039302&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Nexus+6p+cover+up+wood&dpPl=1&dpID=51Aa3Th3s1L&ref=plSrch

Third is the Frost Black Supcase Unicorn Beetle.....probably the most heavy duty of the 4 I have, feels real heavy , chunky, dense, tough , looks OK , not as slick as the Ringke, and the main negative for me is how hard it is to take on and off, but for some that'll be a plus as you get a tight fit, becomes one with the phone , sure to protect your Nexus 6P.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015X90UJS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1463039481&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Nexus+6p+supcase&dpPl=1&dpID=51Ga2SN6oBL&ref=plSrch

Finally a case I want to love but the texture just doesn't quite give me as much grip as I wanted, it looks good, so easy to fit , the Spigen Rugged Armour......it's OK, nowhere near as much protection as the Supcase, least grip of the 4 I have, but it's a good no thrills solid case without being great.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B016CBFBVI/ref=pd_aw_sbs_1?pi=SL500_SS115

So there it is , seriously if you don't have the Ringke Fusion you must get it immediately, winner all the way at a great price, the Cover Up Wood back is a comfortable 2nd , really looks amazing but is over twice the price of the other 3 in my top four, the Supcase is the brute of the 4 and finally the fairly drab Spigen Rugged Armour.

u/CoolJumper · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

To bad Otterbox doesn't makes cases for Nexus phones. But if bulk and looks (which is subjective) aren't a worry, this seems to be up your alley.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B015X9UR2S/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1457219041&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=nexus+6p+supcase+unicorn+beetle&dpPl=1&dpID=51t8C4EcwTL&ref=plSrch

This one also isn't bad, but like you mentioned I'm seeing more about the looks than anything else. I have it and personally I love it, but I can't speak for its ruggedness since I haven't really ever dropped my phone (with spending over $600 I'm incredibly protective of it).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016CBFBVI/ref=pd_aw_sbs_107_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51QdYN2TbEL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=1C673WA6HT6N4TF1EXRT

Here's a 3rd option. More pricy, lacks reviews, but Speck is general a really well received brand for cases and protection.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B015XIIM2G/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1457220001&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=nexus+6p+speck&dpPl=1&dpID=41WonIEGNkL&ref=plSrch

I have a Spigen Rugged Armor Nexus 6P Case. The logo & 'carbon fiber' pattern are not nearly as visible as in the picture (I forgot they were there until I saw the Amazon page).

u/BenderB · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

2 best cases, in my opinion, are the Spigen Rugged Armor and the Spigen Thin Fit. They both fit perfectly (even with a screen protector) and look and feel great. Just depends on the amount of bulk/protection you want.

u/LivingReaper · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P
u/IDK2012 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm using the Spigen Rugged Armor (http://amzn.com/B016CBFBVI) and it really is a nice case. I haven't put it to the test yet but after putting the 6P into it I do know I felt a lot more comfortable with where I lay the device and so on. That said the rhino shield bundle setup Evolutive Labs is coming out with looks like a for sure winner. I even placed an order for their full bundle but it's going to be January sometime before it's even suppose to be out. So till then I'll gladly sport Spigen's case. I might even pick up their screen protector. They have a tempered glass one out now (http://amzn.com/B016CBF5VO)

u/abunnyrabbit · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Here it is on Amazon. I bought it and it's definitely my favorite so far.

u/MistaHiggins · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'd recommend the Spigen Thin Fit. Pictures here.

I bought one, and I absolutely love it. The material is similar to the soft-touch back on the Nexus 5 which helps make it grippy while staying minimal. The exposed buttons are my preference for cases and I now hate the adopted case I originally bought with the phone. I agree with you that almost every 6P case is extremely ugly, but not the Thin fit.

Still allows the white to peek out but with added grip/protection compared to the bare aluminum.

Also preordered a Rhino Crash Guard bumper.

u/AJ_M · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Hey, welcome to Fi! I got my sim chip, but I have to wait until Feb. 22 to switch over because I'm still on contract. I'll join you soon though ;)

There is a great thread about a modular stand. Also, I just bought this case, it's on a 70% discount right now.

u/GamersCorp · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I am an avid biker, and have tried MANY different mounts. The only one that I have found to work perfectly is the Quad Lock Bike Mount. I use it attached to this case, which I only put on while I bike. I highly recommend this setup.

u/Honsou · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have an Aluminum 6P, and I went with the black Spigen Thin Fit case. I really hate bulky cases, so this one is great for me. It's the bare minimum protection, so it doesn't add much bulk. And it actually improves the phone in my opinion. The power/volume buttons were so easy to hit accidentally, now they're recessed and that never happens. Adds more grip to the phone as well. And I've dropped my phone a few times since getting the case, and haven't experienced any damage. Protects the corners, lifts the screen. (though I also have a tempered glass protector) Can't recommend it enough!

I use the Unicorn Beetle case, and it completely solved that issue for me. It makes the buttons just slightly harder to press, eliminating accidental presses. It also adds a little extra grip to the sides so that the fingers don't rest on the "edge" display.

u/mithikx · 2 pointsr/oneplus

Spigen Rugged Armor, $12.99 off of Amazon, has Prime shipping (or Prime One Day with $35 ordered).

It sits higher than the camera bump (crucial to prevent having the chrome ring around the camera from getting scuffed), covers all the buttons save for the notification slider, and fully wraps around the border of the phone. Which the "Protective Cases" from OnePlus doesn't do.

It's not too thick (though thicker than a OnePlus Protective Case), but in exchange it doesn't offer as much protection as an Otterbox, Neo Hybrid or other multi-piece cases.

u/Enderpig1398 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

The reviews for that case are saying that it doesn't fit right and the there's not enough room for the headphone jack. One of the reviews suggested Spigen. I've been looking at this one

u/TheDerf · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I'm currently rocking this Spigen case it's really slim and still has protection where it's needed. Plus it looks good.

u/p07a70 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

Try the Spigen rugged armor case. I'm using it right now on my 3T. It looks much better irl than in pics, and it feels very protective and thin. Spigen is also a trustworthy brand.

u/mightyprometheus · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I've decided to go with the Spigen case and 5 pack Orzly screen protectors.

I figured with the case protecting all the edges, these screen protectors would protect the face that is exposed, and that's perfect for me.

I'm rocking this guy. It's my pet peeve when a case adds a lip around the front face - I like it to be as flush as possible.

This case has a textured, Teflon-feeling material. It's not very grippy, but it also is pretty resistant to finger grease. It already has a some signs of wear & tear after just a few weeks, so I may be in the market again for a super-minimal case.

This might be way too thin for you, but I've been using this case: https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Slim-Case-Google-Pixel/dp/B01M0NBJ79

I realize it doesn't offer that much protection, but I found other cases much too bulky. I have small hands, and it hurt my hand to hold the other cases for too long. I like the lightweight feel of this case.

u/SerdaJ · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

I like my Parallax case but it's just too bulky and a bit slippery for me. I generally just use my Nillkin Ultra-Thin nature series case. I also ordered another Bear Motion case, this time for the Pixel, as I loved the case on my Nexus 6P. It may not last but 5 months before the grip wears off but at $8 it really isn't a bad deal. If you want a near caseless feel though the Nillkin is awesome.

Looks promising! I picked up this Bear Motion case off Amazon and really ended up liking it. Has a sandstone finish like the OnePlus One and it's as thin as the Spigen Thin fit cases. Only gripe is that it doesn't cover the top or bottom chin.

Which one do you think is the "grippiest"? I've tried all of the ones I've listed below but they're all just not very grippy. If I angle my open hand at all, it starts to slip. I never had that issued with the Ringke Slim on my iPhone 5S. I like the super low profile of the Suensan and Bear Motion but none of them feel grippy to me. The Bear Motion has the most grip but even that one is underwhelming.

u/lutgholein · 1 pointr/oneplus

For my old OPO, I tried on a bunch of cases, including Tudia, Cruzerlite, Diztronic, Diztronic Ultra, and Ringke FUSION. I ended up sticking with Diztronic Ultra, but the problem with all those cases was that they all covered up the sexy Sandstone finish.

So I got the Sandstone case this time for my OP3, and also the Black Apricot to change it up once in a while.

As for screen protectors, right now I have the official OP3 tempered glass screen protector. The quality is really nice and it feels good to the touch, but it really bothers me that it doesn't cover the whole screen, leaving a significant gap on the edges.

The whole point of tempered glass screen protectors is to absorb shock if the phone is dropped, so that the protector cracks leaving the phone screen/digitizer intact, so if this phone gets dropped on its corners or edges, this tempered glass screen protector wouldn't do much to help.

Another issue is that the official screen protector is narrower than the width of the screen, the gap it leaves is bigger than the side bezels, so it makes the display look weird.

I ordered the PLESON full screen tempered glass today, but somebody was telling me in another thread that it sucks, so IDK, we'll see how it goes.

I mean this is certainly true, but usually I have my phone and it's charged already. It's kinda like "the camera you have." I'm not charging a GPS or music player or book reader or alarm clock because I just use my phone for all that.

And if charging stuff is a problem, I highly recommend using a phone with a removable battery and getting a ZeroLemon replacement extended battery. I get about two days of what I would consider "heavy use" out of my phone with mine.

Yes, I tried them with the Spigen Slim Armor, which is ironically not that slim. It works on the DT-900/DT-910, though it's a bit more finicky than without it - you have to line it up perfectly and make sure the back is flush with the charger.

I imagine a slimmer case would have no issues, but anything thicker is likely to not work well, if at all.

u/silicon_reverie · 1 pointr/nexus6

How well do the rounded-edge screen protectors work with cases? I'm thinking about picking up either the Spigen Slim Armor or Neo Hybrid, but have no prior experience with tempered glass.

u/RXrenesis8 · 1 pointr/nexus6

I had a Ringke slim in white like you. I have a midnight blue 6 though. (just wanted to see what all the white fuss was about...) After two months of use it's become scratched and smudged and all that sticks out like a sore thumb on the white. It's not pretty...

In addition (and perhaps more importantly) it makes the phone slipperier than it already is!

I just got a Spigen Slim Armor in Metal Slate, which not only matches the nexus 6's colors to the T, it also is a bit grippier, thicker, and has a stand. First impressions say that I'm going to like it a lot more!

http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Case-Spigen-Armor-Google/dp/B00OH4I2IC/

Just bought the Spigen Slim Armor

I've had one on my N5 forever now and it's really impressed me. Not too thick but still does a great job of protecting the phone. The kickstand on the N6 case is an added bonus too!

u/Notch__Johnson · 1 pointr/nexus6

I have this one......dropped it once and seems to have helped. I use the kickstand daily and like the feature

u/LaGrrrande · 1 pointr/nexus6

From what I can tell, the Slim armor has a soft TPU case around the entire phone along with a hard plastic backing covering most of it, the Neo Hybrid has the TPU covering, but a hard plastic bumper that doesn't cover the back of the phone. Now the Ultra Hybrid has soft TPU bumpers around the corners and a clear hard plastic back to it. I have an Ultra Hybrid, a Slim Armor, and a Ringke Max (Comparable to the Slim Armor, only it has a textured plastic back and no kickstand. I'll probably roll with the Ultra Hybrid most of the time so that I can show off the spiffy dbrand white carbon fiber back I've got ordered, and swap the Ringke Max or the Slim Armor for when I'm doing something a bit more prone to phone breakage like hiking or whatever. The product pages on Amazon for the Spigen cases have pretty good pictures of how they each break down, but they can definitely be confusing as to what the differences between each case are.

u/brndnyn · 1 pointr/nexus6

I wonder how the clear Ultra Hybrid case is going to feel on the sides.. Do you think it's going to be hard frosted clear plastic like this one?

Screen protector, yes, I use just the regular ones from best buy, but I would prefer tempered glass. Much more protective. Brother dropped his phone hard and the glass protected the screen from shattering.

I don't own a google store case, but the live cases are pretty popular if you want one custom to you. I really like the design of the Adopted Nexus 6P case on the google store too.

I use the Spigen Rugged Armor, which IMO is the best looking case you can get. If I had any other option for a case though, I'd probably get any really clear thin one and get a Dbrand skin

There isn't any bundles with the 6P that I'm aware of, but regarding your last two questions a simple search on Amazon or Ebay should help you. Just make sure when you're buying USB A to USB C cables, adapters, car chargers, etc. that they're up to USB Spec. Here is a google spreadsheet where you can see nearly all cables and adapters that have been reviewed by Benson. Avoid the ones that aren't approved like the plague and try to buy the ones that are approved for minimum risk of burning down your house/frying your phone.

Other than that I feel you'll find the transition from an Apple device to a Nexus fairly easy, as Nexus provides you with a stock and easy to use Android compared to most other Android flagships.

u/Ruby_Language · 1 pointr/bicycling

I'm using the Quad Lock Front Mount with the Quad Lock Universal Adapter. You pretty much attach the universal adapter to your phone case and you're good to go. I also have a Nexus 6P and I'm using this case if that helps.

u/oldneckbeard · 1 pointr/Nexus

I ordered the Spigen Rugged Armor. Seems to be a favorite, after they fixed all their sensor-blocking issues.

If that one is too bulky or grippy (like collecting all dust from my pocket, not coming out of pocket easily, etc), I'll probably look at the Spigen Exact Fit.

u/djembeplayer · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Chiming in with my experience...I had mine on the roof of my car while I loaded my bike. I drove away, forgot about the phone, turned around, found the phone in a dusty, gravel parking lot working normally with no cracks in the screen. I run with the spigen rugged armor case. I will always trust the spigen cases, I had this phone go flying into parking lots or slip out of my hands and have been "lucky" each time.

Item Name: Nexus 6P 64GB Graphite

Condition: Pretty much perfect, had a tempered glass screen protector and a case on it since about a week after I got it.

Timestamps: http://imgur.com/a/kGij8

Price: £260 including postage.

Postage and Payment: Paypal or BT and probably royal mail.

Any additional information: I don't have the original charger for it so it'd just be a generic apple plug that I'll throw in most likely with a 3ft type C cable. The case is a spigen rugged armor case from here, and I'll leave the screen protector on. Never unlocked the bootloader so it's still running stock everything and it is unlocked.

I love the phone's bare look but I love it too much to end up having it slip out of my pocket and into the street or tile floor.

Spigen makes some fantastic, good looking, slim cases for the 6P. A couple people have said that my phone looks better with the Rugged Armor case as supposed to without it. I feel no compromise in using a case.

Here's a link to the one I am talking about:

one of these and one of these

The Spigen has a slight bulk to it, but is a solid case. The Google case is more of a novelty with the extra button, but is slimmer and protects pretty well.

u/RawPacket · 1 pointr/GalaxyS7

As someone who's owned the 6P for a few months on Project Fi - I can tell you that it's a pretty good phone. I haven't experienced any of the issues that Cykahui has had, and he's just really bitter.

The screen's been excellent - videos are wonderful to watch on it, and there has been no "Yellowing" or visual degradation of any kind.

The bezels aren't noticeably bad in any way. However, if you get a case for the 6P - it will inch it into "a tad too large" territory depending on the case. I use this Spigen Case with my 6P. I also use this Tech Armor screen protector - not because I lack faith in the Gorilla Glass, but just as an "extra layer" against typical unexpected life events.

The phone still feels solid, I've dropped it twice down the side of my car seat, once getting it wedged between the metal seat slide and the floor, and on extracting it there were no scrapes or scratches.

I am very happy with my 6P, however at times using custom launchers, it does prove to be a little sluggish. Using the stock launcher/Google Now launcher I didn't have any performance issues. The fingerprint unlock works well, the NFC works flawlessly with my YubiKey NEO, and it picks up my voice far more accurately than my Moto X 2014 ever did - and that phone was supposed to have a dedicated processor for voice input.

I have no doubt the Samsung S7 Edge is a fine phone, though historically I've been dubious of Samsung's insistence on customizing everything, and the utility of an edge screen still hasn't been proven to me yet. Either way, I think both will prove to be fine for you - but don't let Cykahui get to you. He's irreverent and acidic.

u/JayKralie · 1 pointr/Nexus

The case I'm using on it right now is actually quite thick (although not as ridiculously thick as a typical Otterbox case for the iPhone). This is the case I've been using since day one. It's a rather nice case, but the thickness does make the phone slightly bulkier. However, my original reply above was written based on my use of the 6P with this case on it every day, so even with a thick case, I still feel like the phone's size is manageable. I must point out that the phone is slightly easier to use without the case on it. (On a somewhat unrelated note, the lip on the sides of the case also is not high enough to fit over top of a glass screen protector, so be aware that the buttons on the side of the case will be misaligned with the actual buttons on the phone.)

If you're worried about the size and you're not prone to accidentally dropping your phone from more than a couple of feet in the air, I would just go with a thinner TPU case. I like my case, but it has its flaws, and there are definitely thinner ones out there for the 6P.

I'm a fan of this one. Fits perfectly, doesn't block any sensors, and lets me take screenshots. It's also absorbed a couple decent drops already (waist height). Only downside in my mind is that the corner of the charging hole digs into my pinkie finger given how I hold the phone.

Yes, the Diztronic will work with a screen protector. I have a glass screen protector on my 6P and the Diztronic works fine with it.

An alternative suggestion for a case would be the Spigen Rugged Armor. This is the one I use daily and it's basically the Diztronic with a bit more style on the back (the inlaid carbon fiber accents). This one also works perfectly fine with a screen protector.

  1. Fits in my pocket just fine

  2. No

  3. A little slippery, I bought the Spigen Rugged case
u/Rexus5 · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

We just had a similar discussion in this thread.

My recommendation would be the Nilkin case that you can pick up for ~$5 from eBay. It's extremely thin, fits great, and provides ample protection (even from drops).

I purchased the Spigen Thin Fit case from Amazon but didn't like it at all. Gave it a 2.5/5 in the thread I linked in my first sentence.

u/ahmedouvix · 1 pointr/PickAnAndroidForMe

that's a nice decision keeping both phones. i am going to purchase one too next month

about the case

i like this one http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Spigen%C2%AE-Exact-Fit-Premium-Finish/dp/B01761J26I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451857356&sr=8-2&keywords=6p+cases

but it's not leather. i can't find a good leather case.

I saw someone say the same thing on Amazon. It's $12 there right now.

I use this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01761J26I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

so far so good. Hardly any bulk. I typically use my phone without a case, but i got so used to the soft touch nexus 5 back and this feels just like it.

u/Sugarlips_Habasi · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Spigen thin case because the texture provides a grip on my $400 phone.

u/Itonlyburnsalittle · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I have had the black one for many months and love it. It is starting to crack just a bit and I think I will order a fresh one soon. Go for it!

u/tc2k · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

You should, it's a great phone and I'm planning to keep it until the successor to the initial Pixel phones. Camera is great all around, HDR makes low light scenes great. The display is AMAZING, I use the multi-window option to do two tasks at once since the display is big enough. Updates will still be flowing in a couple more years and maybe a few more for security updates.

If you also decide to get a case without adding too much extra surface area, this Spigen thin-fit case IS AMAZING! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01761J26I/

that looks like a nice case actually. I just bought the black s7. Sorta regret the black now that I found that clear back case. I thought the black would look better given that it's mostly covered anyway.

Most caselogic and spigen work. Though the plastic ones from Caseology do not and they are thin. Seems to be if they are a hard plastic shell type case, it will interfere.

The Unicorn Beetle pro Full case that I would get though doesn't come with a screen protector (http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Full-body-Holster-WITHOUT-Protector/dp/B01BLI4FWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464080997&sr=8-1&keywords=Unicorn+beetle+pro+full+case+S7+edge).

I've never been a fan of them and am generally very careful with my phones (upgrading from a 3+ year old S3).

Should I get a screen protector for this phone though?

u/Ineffablemo · 1 pointr/GalaxyS7

I use this case for the ruggedness and it has saved my phone from a handful of drops. Unicorn Beetle (Black/Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BLI4FWI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_6rcuxbX1PD5T0

As for screen protector I use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BG2B7XE/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_.ycuxb1YQVPFP because I'm usually outside taking picture and don't have to worry about glare or finger prints on the screen.
It does raise on the edge occasionally but I remove case and press on the sides with a credit card and let it sit for 10-15 mins and BANG, you can't tell there's a screen protector on it.

Am I seeing this right? I know the listing is without the screen protector for the edge but does this mock-up mean they have one with a screen protector or one coming? It would be the first full phone protector case I've seen with an S7 Edge screen protector on it.

I got the unicorn beetle from amazon. Cheap but built surprisingly well. It is designed with a bezel the clicks into place around the the front of the screen and holds down the edges to any screen protector you add.

Yeah I agree, the wood cases look cool, but I don't think they will do much to protect the phone. This case also does put a lip around the screen like the otterbox cases which should help a lot too - but i love this phone so much i'll do everything i can to not drop it, the case is just there for daily protection from scuffs and etc lol - i also love how the buttons are covered so they don't get liquid in them and stuff (nexus 4 got a tiny drop of water under the button and the volume rocker started working very randomly)

I wanted to buy the Spigen one when I got the V20 back when it was released, but Amazon was out of stock so I settled for the Ringke one.

It's survived multiple drops from shoulder level to gravel without barely any scratches to the case...

I use this Ringke Onyx case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K5I9CB4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VlidBbQCARWWV for $10, it's highly durable, it provides protection for camera bump and also raised for screen protection. It also fits perfectly while also being easy to take it off. I use this case from the day I bought my V20 until today. It's already take quite a beating but still looking sleek. I also like the side grips this case provides.

u/Illuminatisamoosa · 1 pointr/lgv20

Here's my 2cents. Advice above regarding cases is sound. The curved screen makes it hard to protect. So I initially ordered the uag rugged case. You can drop the phone from anywhere and it will be 100s. However, it was too much. The phone was just to bulky, my pockets were getting ruined, and the aux and charging ports were too much of a mission to access. So I have changed to this:

https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Brushed-Flexible-Dynamic-Absorbent/dp/B01K5I9CB4

And it's amazing. I'll risk the screen for the slim fit.

Battery- I got this 2 weeks ago and have been swapping it daily with my original battery. So far seems legit and works better than the original:

u/jag986 · 1 pointr/lgv20

I picked up this one

Very thin profile with a lip over the front and extends beyond the camera bulge and holds it about a millimeter or two above the resting surface. Cutouts are super accurate and it feels good and grippy in the hand.

u/GET_OUT_OF_MY_HEAD · 1 pointr/Vive

People buy floor mats so they can turn the Chaperone off. If you're okay with a grid popping up in front of you when you get too close to the boundaries of your play space, then you don't need a mat.

As for padding the walls, people buy those after they've destroyed their first controller from punching a wall. If you are able to turn off that animalistic part of your brain that convinces you what you're experiencing is real, then you don't have to worry about padding your walls. But almost nobody is able to do that right away -- especially when they're new to VR -- so I'd recommend buying some skins for your controllers (and possibly headset too).

u/dont-laugh · 1 pointr/Vive

I wish they were cheaper. Already had to buy two replacements after killing my original two controllers with sweat damage. Tip - check these out. I got them a few months ago and they do a great job of protecting the controllers from sweat and scratches.

You have no idea how many times you'll bang them together trying to pull the pin out of a grenade. Just buy them. Much less frequently I hit myself in the HMD, these are perfect for softening those blows as well. I also don't recommend any other brands as I've never tried them and these had the best reviews when I got them.

u/phimath · 1 pointr/Vive

Don't think it would stop ribbons from coming loose, but I use these and they at least stop scuffs and scratches both on my walls and on the controllers as well. I'm sure they absorb a little bit of the impact in larger hits, but I doubt its anything substantial.

They are a great product though. I got them in white with for the HMD to match, and they both fit perfectly and look dope too.

For the standard Pixel, I recommend the Spigen Rugger Rugged Armor (this is what I have) and for the Pixel XL, I recommend the Spigen Neo Hybrid

Personally, I've used Spigen cases for a while now and they've always served me well. I'd have opted for the Neo Hybrid for my Pixel is they made it, unfortunately, they don't. That being said, I'm very happy with the Rugged Armor case.

I like that it hugs the case and isn't as bulky as the UAG. I watched a few drop tests for cases but there aren't any for the Pixel with a group of cases yet.

u/BlackholeDevice · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

At the very least. I would recommend a grip case. I love my XL and all, but it's a bit too slippery. I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M1DZT8K/ref=pd_sim_107_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DHQ5KRQT7ER5F3M4FPBG for mine (the XL version, of course). I'm loving it. It's TPU, so it's flexible, yet semi-rigid. It adds almost nothing to the size of the phone and it grips pretty well.

u/thehashrocket · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I've got the regular sized version of this case and so far I've been ok. But yeah, it's the exact same case, just smaller. I'll be keeping an eye out for that slot to make sure it stays clean. Thank you for the heads up!

u/DIGGYReddit · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I came from a Nexus 5 rooted on 4.4.4KK vanilla with some tweaks, which is almost as ancient sans the LTE (yes I'm still using it as a backup phone/random gaming phone at home). Here's what I've learned.

Case - I'm using a Spigen Rugged Armor, surpsingly it's thinner (despite it's name) than the Ultra Hybrid that's so popular. It is a bit tacky with the fake CF at the bottom, but the phone has just the right amount of grip, and buttons/ports are all working as intended. Can't complain about the price.

Screen Pro - although everyone has their choices, at least in Canada we don't get a good price on amazon.com so from amazon.ca the CaseBase 2-in-1 is the best for full coverage (only cutouts for the earpiece speaker and prox sensor) for the money

The swiping down from the fingerprint sensor on the back is actually quite easy to do, even with a case on. Definitely easier than trying to get to the top to swipe down one-handed (at least the way I hold my phone).

SystemUITuner - Enable battery % - Waiting on NRT, but WugFresh's Pixel XL was lost in shipment, so it's going to be a while till we get it.

Turn on the notification light (yes, there's one hidden in the earpiece speaker grill). Settings --> Notifications --> Gear Icon --> Pulse notification light

If you care about e-mail, make sure to enable gMail to have unrestricted background data access. I found when the phone was "sleeping" e-mails weren't being pushed so a notification could wake the phone and notify me. Settings --> Apps --> Gmail --> Data Usage. This also works for any other apps you want to be able to use data while the phone is in doze.

u/originalmoose · 1 pointr/technology

I have the Pixel XL and I can say I am completely happy with it (Switched to ProjectFi as well, I only use a little over a gig a month so its pretty cheap).

I don't use my phone a whole lot (browsing reddit, reading work emails, occasional youtube videos, looking up stuff, I might try a game every now and again but I prefer pc for that) and I probably get a solid two days in between charges to 70-80%. I'll occasionally charge to 100% if I'm going to be using a lot of GPS or something.

Performance wise no complaints either, everything feels really snappy and I haven't noticed and lag. I'd recommend a case because the metal body is slippery if your hands are dry, and one time it slipped out of my pocket onto the concrete when I knelt down putting a nice little scuff on the corner. I bought the following case and screen protector

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugged-Google-Resilient-Absorption/dp/B01M1EEXWJ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1495134868&sr=8-2&keywords=spigen+pixel+xl

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZT3PGR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The two pack of screen protectors is nice because you will eventually break one, I know I did.

Tried a few this is the best no joke. Good protection and the power button has texture.

u/BenjaminGeiger · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I have this Spigen case and love it. Before that, I had a clear Google case which broke and kinda looked ugly.

u/IronedShirts · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

Yes-- Keep checking this a few times a day until the model you want doesn't say "Out of Stock"

I love this phone. It's really nice. Using the Google site above, I paid $649 for the phone, $120 extra to make it "pixel XL" and $100 extra to make it 128GB. I didn't pay the extra $100 for the extended warranty, because I bought this case and this case and plan to keep it super safe. All in all it was about $924 with tax.

Using the standard free shipping Google provided, I got my phone in two days. Some people who got their phone through Verizon have been waiting several months at this point.

I also got my Daydream View VR headset last night, and I spent about 5 hours on it having a blast. It is amazing all you can do. The only issue I (and everyone else) has is that after about an hour the phone says "Please remove your phone so it can cool off" and then you realize your phone feels like a piece of molten lava. AKA, it gets very hot after about an hour of VR use. But you simply put in on a table and after maybe 6 minutes it's fine again for another hour.

Please let me know what questions you have about this phone.

I have the Spigen Rugged Armor Case and man I love this case. The design is superb and it's very grippy. I know this phone won't be slipping out of my hands.

No kickstand though, but it is a great case.

I'm loving this Spigen Rugged case so far. Very easy to pop on/off and it looks great

OP do you happen to have the Spigen Rugged Armor case? I was considering getting that case but if it causes issues then I might have to reconsider.

u/ADubs62 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

Spigen Rugged Armor I'm a huge fan of this case it's really the only case I've ever used on any phone that I don't feel a compulsive need to strip off.

I also don't have a screen protector and despite having a fairly rough job at times I only have a few very minor superficial scratches that I can only see with the screen off, a freshly cleaned screen and the light hitting it just right.

This is the one I have. Really thin, fits well, protects everything. I really like it

u/bravoavocado · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

My phone is a tool these days and I am boring.

128GB Black Pixel in a thin black shell and no screen protector. I stuck a metal plate inside the case so I can slap it on my car mount.

Stock Pixel Launcher; not even rooted. I VPN to my home network at all times and route DNS through my Pi-Hole for ad-blocking.

For years, starting with my Nexus S, I used to flash firmware daily, swap between kernels just as frequently, custom themes, KLWP, blah, blah, blah. I'm a busy dude now. I have 3 kids and a very demanding IT career. I have other tech toys to play with, but my phone just needs to work, every minute of every day. The Pixel does and I love it.

u/choose_the_rice · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I love my black Maxboost case. It's pretty thin and looks badass with my Quite Black. When I had an iPhone it was also my favorite brand of case. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3MQCG0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Tr8oyb0SYHJVN

I even bought and returned one of the $40 Google cases with the map print. It just didn't look as good as the really cheap Maxboost.

u/joetheshm0 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I loved my Ringke Slim on my Nexus 5X and was sad to see them not make a Slim for the Pixel, so I went with this and I dig it

u/nycska · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I've got this Maxboost mSnap and it's pretty sleek compared to my Caseology, which I use every day for the extra protection.

I tied a small quick release lanyard to the mSnap and attach it inside my ski jacket. Still fits nicely with that loop through there.

u/newone757 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I don't like the bear motion because it leaves the top and bottom wide open. I got the Max boost Msnap and love it. It's super thin, phone almost feels naked

2 Packs Protective Frame and Silicon Protective Case for HTC Vive/Vive Pro Controllers MDW https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_r35SBb8S4330K

I haven't used them yet, just assembled before work... The side sensors are outside of the cage... but if you bump something lightly it puts my mind at ease compared to just the controller taking the bump.

The plastic is a little flexible since it isn't as hard as the controller plastic... but I don't think it would save anything if you punched it through a wall since I don't think the plastic is really that strong enough.

If I remember to update this after I use them and bump something I'll let you know.

u/WRT8998 · 1 pointr/Vive

As said it's more than likely wiring that's come loose. Also I'd suggest asking the arcade to invest in these https://www.amazon.com/Packs-Protective-Silicon-Controllers-MDW/dp/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541789367&sr=8-3&keywords=Protective+Frame+and+Silicon+Protective+Case if they already haven't.

I have 2 freinds with this one you listed. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_sa5KzbFC8RR2S . Both really like it. They have small play spaces and tend to hit shit around them.

I've got a set of these coming:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

...before I grab this game. Going to use just the cages as the reviews say the silicone sucks.

Can't wait. Only tried an early beta from their site. I just remembered that this and holoball were the only things that made my controller hit the wall so I didn't buy day one when released on Stream. Refunded Holoball due to this(wasn't that great of a game to warrant any controller risk), I hope these cages will save my controllers with Gorn, as that beta was fun as hell.

u/cteters · 1 pointr/virtualreality

The idea everyone is pushing of OP going overboard sounds pretty extreme, but they will at least have a good whack at the railing with their controllers no doubt. OP, at least consider a protective frame if you haven't already. Maybe also rotate the couch 180 degrees.

u/rtsdgfdegfdsh · 1 pointr/Vive

Now that you mention it... That's exactly what I ordered and I'm an idiot for thinking a skin would offer more than the slightest bit of protection beyond scratches.

I'll see if it is too late to cancel and order these.

This is the one I ordered (and it arrived Monday); Amazon advertises it as fitting both X and Xs, but Spigen's site isn't very clear. The photos look very similar, so it's hard to tell. I guess I'll find out on Friday.

u/Araziah · 1 pointr/essential

The 2 stores by me don't have any cases or screen protectors.

There are only 3 cases I can find right now.

  • Incipio clear and has reviews of not playing nice with screen protectors.
  • Tudia comes in 3 colors and is the cheapest of the lot.
  • Viva Madrid clear with metallic accents.

These are the only ones I could find last night that are made specifically for the essential phone.

dbrand makes some skins which should help with the slipperiness if you don't particularly care about edge protection from a case.
u/webwarmiller · 1 pointr/essential

I'm happy with the Tudia case. It looks much better in person than in the photos...doesn't look as gaudy. The nubby texture on the sides is great and the fit is as good as I've seen a TPU case on any phone. I don't use screen protectors on this phone or any phone.

https://www.amazon.com/Essential-TUDIA-Carbon-Lightweight-Absorption/dp/B0762F2T19/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510241397&sr=8-1&keywords=tudia+essential+ph-1

u/Nuckles37 · 1 pointr/essential
  1. I use this Tudia case, it looks way better in person than in the photos (the white-ish lines/bits are black in person and are a bit reflective), adds some grip, it feels like it adds a decent amount of protection, the buttons still feel great, and it's not bulky: https://www.amazon.ca/Essential-TUDIA-Carbon-Lightweight-Absorption/dp/B0762F2T19/

  2. I would recommend updating to the latest version before putting in your sim card or logging into your google account (I had to update/restart my phone twice to get fully updated). Once that's done, factory reset then put your sim in and log into your google account.

  3. If jitter is very noticeable and it bothers you, unlock the developer options and tune Touch Sensitivity down (I have mine at 4). You can also turn off Grip Rejection if you don't have a problem accidentally touching the edges of the screen.

  4. I'm on Koodo and my area has weak 4G/LTE and the phone's poor reception makes it worse, but when I switch to 3G only mode I get full/mostly full bars all of the time. Wifi is also a bit weaker than on my previous phones but I haven't had problems because of it.

  5. I personally found the icons to be too small on this phone so I used nova launcher to increase them to 140%. I don't know if that's an option on the free version or if you have to pay a few bucks for nova launcher prime.

  6. Using a dark background will cause the pull-down/notification menu to be black, using a lighter background will cause it to be white. (I wish you could manually assign it)

  7. Not a must-do, but I installed Arnova8G2's v7beta9 google camera port/mod and I think it takes noticeably better pictures than the default camera app on the phone.
u/Helios119 · 1 pointr/essential

I'm a little late, but the Tudia TAMM has worked great for me. Matte, no cutouts, does have some patterns on the side for grip and the top/bottom for...coolness I guess. Protected my phone when it fell from like stomach height off my bed onto tile. Link if you wanna check it out: https://www.amazon.com/Essential-TUDIA-Carbon-Lightweight-Absorption/dp/B0762F2T19

Does anyone with the GelShell controller skins have a comment on whether they improve gameplay (i.e. feel better, controller easier to grip, etc)?

I don't care about looks and I'm not worried about my controllers getting scuffed, but I would consider buying if you think tactilely they feel better than original controller?
