I do just for those faint micro scratches. If they get too bad I like the option to replace a start fresh again. I swear by the Spigen ones. I’ve had the same one on my 7 for about 11 months and it looks new. I tried two other brands before it and on cracked next day and another started peeling on the edge.

My whole family now uses them. 4 different iPhones (not all X) and counting. 6 if you count the not received yet X’s for me and my wife. Already have them waiting though.

My wife seems to be the only one that breaks hers often. But I attribute that to the purse gauntlet.

I quickly replaced the ones that I got from Samsung, they were horrible.
If you're not looking for glass to expensive, I highly recommend this one:

I know some pretty clumsy people who drop their phones often and have pretty fucked up screens. They still say "I just don't like the way screen protectors feel" while scrolling their finger across jagged sharp glass. I don't think everyone needs a screen protector, but some absolutely do.

Beforehand, I only went with an Otterbox Statement case which had a raised enough lip to not worry about screen cracks from dropping. I only recently started using screen protectors because I use a wallet case now and would rather not my cards scratch up my screen. The screen protector I use, you can't really tell it's on though (no notch cutout, and outer part of the protector is black), and feels much better than previous screen protectors I used on older phones.

I have this one

Google Pixel 2 Screen Protector Glass, amFilm Google Pixel 2 Tempered Glass Screen Protector Dot Matrix for Google Pixel 2 0.3mm (1 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WWQBR6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jpF4AbMFHWN3J

It gets the job done. Easy as hell to apply. It's kind of plastic-y though. It has these dots that you can see at weird angles(not a deal breaker at all after using it for 3 months). I think they help with application because it does not bubble at all.

u/thehistorybeard · 9 pointsr/LGG3

I love my matte Diztronic TPU case. Slim enough to preserve the great curve of the back of the phone, but tough enough to keep dings away and textured enough to give a good grip.

I went a couple weeks without one on my 7+. I'm always super careful of where I place my phone, which pants pocket it goes in, etc. and low and behold I had micro scratches on the glass after just a few weeks.

I've since applied this tempered protector and so far so good. I've got a nasty, deep scratch on it from a key so I may install the second one as it bothers me slightly. It's been on the phone since September and no issues thus far. I applied it myself per the included instructions and it's well aligned.

Here's a link to Spigen's X protector.

u/MntyBntz · 8 pointsr/lgv20

I'm using a Spigen tough armor/ tempered glass combo. The case has a metal finish and it matches the V20 which I like, whereas the tempered glass is crystal clear and it covers most of the screen and the second one. I highly recommend Spigen. I spent $25 on both accessories from Amazon.

I use a screen protector and barely notice it. I have a fairly lean case. Alternative would be to get one of those otter cases, but they are way to big for me.

This is the one I use. I do have to replace every 3 months because it gets scratched and stuff. Installation is extremely easy and always looks good.

Yes, i am using this cheap but decent 'Pleson' case, and a screen protector apparently by the same brand. I like the case as it is slightly more grippy than no case, and I'm less likely to drop the phone. (Not less likely to leave it on top of my car though!)

u/Ashinjuka · 7 pointsr/nexus5x

I got the Plesson. I've only had it about a week, no issues so far.

u/akashik · 7 pointsr/nexus5x

PLESON makes a great one. There are three Nexus 5x's in my home and they all wear this protector.

Edge to edge with no cutout for the notch and it comes with an alignment tool

u/johnnyboi1994 · 6 pointsr/iphone

I have this and I can’t tell it’s there anymore (least In a spigen case). I also found that touching the screen by itself created more friction I guess from the oils in my finger.

Edit: typing is hard

u/tlogank · 5 pointsr/LGG3

I'm using this Diztronic case because every case I've ever had from them has been exactly what I wanted: extremely slim, protects the screen with a lip, and cheap. The reviews on the case speak for themselves.

u/eDamko · 5 pointsr/lgv20

This is the best fitting screen protector I have found. I tried a few others, but none fit nearly as well and I ended up chipping them all. It's a bit difficult to install, but comes in a pack of 2, so you have two chances to get it right.

u/Whiplash104 · 5 pointsr/iphone

For years I have been the guy friends and family go to for screen protector installs because I've gotten good at it. I have to say that Spigen EX Fit https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Tempered-Protector-Installation-Designed/dp/B07HRYZFN3 make installs so foolproof that anyone can do it. Just make sure the screen is clean and install is really that simple.

Thanks for the review as I'm always curious but I also wanted to put this out there that everyone should consider this.

This one comes with a plastic frame that snaps on the phone to help with alignment. By far the easiest screen protector I’ve ever installed. I always put them on the kiddos phones. I’ve never really used one in the past. My 8+ had zero scratches after more than a year of use. I got an XS Max and went without. Within a week I had 3 fairly deep scratches. I took it back and apple exchanged it. I immediately installed a protector on the new phone. Not sure which phone you have but I’m sure these guys make a protector for all models.

Have had iPhones consistently since the 3GS, hate screen protectors, never used them. After my iPhone X screen getting more scratches on the screen than all my other iPhones combined, I had no choice for my Max.

After much research, landed on Tethys edge to edge.

TETHYS Glass Screen Protector... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FQY28GR?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I am not exaggerating when I say that I forget I even have a screen protector on my phone. It's fantastic. I have a clear, simple case and the screen protector truly goes edge to edge. You cannot see it at all. Only $14 for a triple pack plus plastic guide frame. Highly recommend it.

Yeah. If he needs a screen protecter, I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Scratch-Bubble-free-Fingerprint-Protector-Replacement/dp/B00KGSW734/ref=pd_sim_cps_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0YD0WATTD8FFYN72JN65
have used the phone for a while and the protector and it has no scratches at all, its easily placed on, just stick it on and press it on all sides, no worrying about bubbles, and finger smudges are a non-problem.

u/size14shoe · 3 pointsr/LGG3

I don't know if I can post the link correctly, but I went with the Diztronic case from Amazon. I'm hoping that it will keep me satisfied until the LG Slim Cases become available so I can use wireless charging!

u/Simon_Mendelssohn · 3 pointsr/LGG3

I started with this case but after less than a year the back got very scratched up and discolored. Switched to the Diztronic case and I am liking it a lot so far. Good protection for my needs and less bulky than the Spigen.

u/mrselkies · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Red switches:

Ducky One TKL RGB

Masterkeys Pro S

MK Disco

---

Unfortunately as far as I know RGB TKL keyboards with cherry MX clear switches pretty much don't exist (unless you build a custom keyboard).

This KBParadise V80 has clears but it's dual color blue/red LEDs and not RGB.

The WASD Code has clears but it's not RGB and it's fullsize.

There's also this newer keyboard from mechanicalkeyboards.com called the Fission but it's fullsize and the RGB is on the sides.

Clears are a more rare switch than the rest for sure, they can be hard to find on stock keyboards.

u/-illuminati · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I finally made the jump to mechanical keyboards and... I hate it.

If my previous keyboard was a person, it would be a freshman in high school right now. It was an old Dell keyboard from 2003 and the PS/2 (!) connector recently broke so I decided to make the switch. I initially bought the Corsair K95 RGB with Cherry mx brown switches but the keyboard was just too big and it kept disconnecting/reconnecting randomly while playing Dota. And what's worse, my WPM went from 130 WPM to around 90 WPM due to massive amounts of accidental keypresses. Apparently I'm a heavy-handed, sloppy typer and the keys are just too sensitive for me, leading to inaccuracy.

I traded in the K95 for a smaller K70 but I'm still getting intermittent USB disconnect/reconnects and my WPM is still atrocious nearly a month later. I just don't think I can adjust to how light the keypresses are.

So my questions for you all: Would clear switches be better for me? Or should I just (gasp) go back to the old-school non-mechanical keyboards that I've been typing with for literally 25 years? I'm looking at this keyboard since it's got decent reviews.

u/Odetodistractions · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

You pretty much described the WASD Code.

MX Clears, TLK or Full size available, Standard key layout, White backlight (which is my favorite as it highlights any customized keycaps you chose better than most other colored LEDs), and it's NKRO on USB.

$150 for the TKL, $155 for the full size from WASD's site. You can also find them on Amazon (TKL, Full) if you'd rather order from there.

u/JangaJam · 3 pointsr/nexus5x

If this is the Pleson screen protector you are talking about, then I highly recommend it. http://smile.amazon.com/Protector-PLESON%C2%AE-Tempered-Clarity-Hardness/dp/B016CUS84Q?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I recently bought this case and it is great. I assume the SUPCASE will work just as well though. http://smile.amazon.com/Nexus-Case-Verus-Shield-Shine/dp/B015GHQJ1U?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

There has been some controversy surrounding USB type-C cables lately, but I've tried several different brands and they all work fine. Just spend the extra couple dollars to get decent ones. If you're anything like me, you'll find that having a few extra cables is necessary. I also tried those microUSB to type-C adapters, and they work, but it's clunky and awkward and I don't think you can do fast charging with them (not sure on that though).

PhoneArena posted an article about USB type-C battery packs. Take a look at what they have to get you started in the right direction. http://www.phonearena.com/news/5-portable-battery-packs-all-ready-for-the-USB-Type-C-revolution_id81001

u/mrmattolsen · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS7

Yes I've used it for the past 6 months. Still on my first one. Fits great -- since it's a film, it conforms to the curved edge well. Pics here are accurate: https://www.amazon.com/Armorsuit-MilitaryShield-Protector-Anti-Bubble-Replacements/dp/B01ACXRS6I

u/kyiami_ · 3 pointsr/Android

Yup. Still using mine with the gaps in the screen protector around the edges. Time to look for a new one...

EDIT: this this this this

u/ds_279 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS7

I use an ArmorSuit screen protector for my S7 because it works well with cases.

It's not a traditional screen protector. It's more of a rubberized plastic that sticks to it. They're easy to put on and have a lifetime warranty on each of them. If you ever need a new one you just need to pay $2 for shipping. I would totally recommend them.

*edit: They also adhere to the curves of the phone. I have installed one of these on both a Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S9+ and they adhere to the curves perfectly.

u/itsjellybear · 3 pointsr/lgv20

I have these for my v20 and they are perfect.

u/khedan · 3 pointsr/oneplus

Spigen Rugged Armor.

Pros : Minimum bulk, adds grip, easy to install/remove as it's flexible.

Cons : It hides the nice Aluminium back of the phone and logo. But there is the Ultra Hybrid case which is transparent.

Coupled with the Orzly 2.5D TGSP V2. Some people notice the dotted layer on the TGSP, but I don't, at all... Have to make sure that it is perfectly applied and centered so it doesn't interfere with the case.

u/OnePls · 3 pointsr/oneplus

Orzly V2

Cons: Dot matrix, rainbow effect, not secured to screen in center(so it kinda feels like a defender-series otterbox).

Pros: Covers entire screen perfectly and fits with my case, seems high quality, apparently it's the best one available

I really like it, even with it's flaws it's way better than any plastic one i've owned before.

I bought this and its full coverage no bubble or rainbowing but one issue i have being not so big is dust get in the lg logo area but not under the screen itself and its been great so far

u/nullx · 3 pointsr/lgv20

I've had the best luck with these screen protectors, no bubbles, halos, or gaps and fit the screen pretty perfectly. This is on a VS995.

I've been using this PThink one. I am pretty satisfied with it so far. Tempered glass 2 pack. Comes with guide tape.

Case & Screen protector. It was hard to convince myself to put a case and protector on such a beautiful phone but I dont actually mind this combo. This is coming from a guy who refused to put a protector on all my previous phones (directly causing the demise of a couple)

So far loving it! Can hardly tell it’s there.

u/jedmej · 3 pointsr/iphone

I'm also not sure about this particular case, but I'm using Totallee Clear case on my XS Max and I love it. As for the screen protector, I purchased TETHYS Glass Screen Protector (edge to Edge) 3-Pack for $14. I was never a fan of any screen protector, as they take away from the design and feel but this one is really nice! Basically can't tell its there, especially with a case on. Feels just like the stock glass and coating seems good so far. I would recommend!

u/smackythefrog · 3 pointsr/galaxys10

Mine definitely has the small scratches and even one that looks to be moderately deep but still on the protector and not down to the screen.

I plan on going with this soon

u/purebredginger · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

All of these items are from my "Things I really Want" wishlist which is full of stuff from my other wishlists so that's how I'm organizing this, if that makes sense.

The Highest priority of everything is my tv, which I am not linking because it is hella expensive. I don't have a TV, and I kind of really want one so I can get cable and watch tv.

For Ezra and Jude this cat bed because Ezra loves to curl up under the covers with me and Jude has taken over the other bed.

From my "for the home" wishlist, I would love paper towels I burn through these so fast so it would be awesome to have a nice little stash so I don't have to worry about not having them.

From my girly stuff WL, these shoes because they are super comfortable and I walk to class. And I really want them because they are cute.

From my books WL, this quilting book because I am learning how to quilt and I hear it is a great resource.

From my get my ass in shape WL, this arm band so I have a place to put my phone while I'm jogging/walking that isn't my sweaty bra.

Thanks for the super awesome 'discussion' =)

u/shnanon · 2 pointsr/C25K

I use : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ZZKL6U/ref=cm_sw_su_dp
Tuneband for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, Grantwood Technology's Armband, Silicone Skin, and Front and Back Screen Protector, Black

I'm only in week 4 though and this is the first and only armband I've ever used. It's comfy though and I have no complaints. I see you have an iPhone 5. The link for that one is here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A92V9QS/ref=cm_sw_su_dp I would assume it's the same but as I don't have that one, I can't be certain.

u/geekocioso · 2 pointsr/C25K

I got an arm strap (Amazon Link) for my iPhone 4S a while ago, and it seems to work well. What I had a hard time finding was some headphones that wouldn't be escaping from my ears so easily... I probably bought and tried at least 6 "sports" models, and finally settled with these Sennheiser/adidas branded ones (Another amazon link). I was running with the volume control thingy on my hand, mostly because I just didn't try to clip it anywhere, but still my main concern was not having them falling out of my ears. My ears are rather small, so YMMV.

Those purchases were a while ago, which just reminds me of how long I've been putting this off... so there may be newer models of those items. Just wanted to share them in case they may help anyone on their gear-spending decisions.

u/cbsteven · 2 pointsr/running

I did a lot of research on these last month. Every armband I saw had terrible reviews. Then I found the Tuneband, saw the consistent praise, and bought it. It's great and simple. Two components: A rubber case that you can keep on your iPhone all the time if you like (I do. It's as good as any other case I've had). A strap that slips through a slot in the back of the case and goes around your arm.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZZKL6U/

u/bit_inquisition · 2 pointsr/iphone

I have an iphone 4s and have been using Tuneband for about 7 months. Those reviewers don't know what they're talking about. It fits perfectly. Here's the exact one I ordered on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZZKL6U/ref=oh_o06_s00_i00_details

Edit: 7 months not 8. Since October.

u/munick · 2 pointsr/iphone

I just bought the Tuneband (http://amzn.com/B003ZZKL6U ) but haven't used it yet. It seems to have the best reviews on Amazon but I'm a little worried about it not having protection from my sweaty fingers. I'll update in a few hours after my run.

u/kjaka · 2 pointsr/LGG3

[It was $9 here] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KGSW734/ref=pe_385040_121528360_TE_dp_2) You might be able to find it cheaper if you shop around.

u/PullOutFirst · 2 pointsr/LGG3

So I was stupid and forgot that my new $600 phone was $600....and I used it as an aid for my baking a little over a month ago. I used the neat feature of quick memo to draw notes and measurements over a screen shot of another recipe. While baking, and one hand covered with powder, I fidangled with my phone to incline it on an angle to see the recipe but with a loose grip, I dropped (pretty much laterally [not literally or figuratively] shot-putted) it across the kitchen and onto the hard tile floor.

My heart sank 20,000 leagues as I barely just had the phone for a month....

o.o
O.O
>o<
-_-

Time to assess the damage....I picked it up and saw a ginormous crack from one corner and extending across my phone. fuck. fuckitty fuck. <sadface.gif>

I slowly built up the confidence, and tapped on the screen...It turned on! Better yet, everything fully works, and the LCD is intact!!

After recollecting myself, and finishing my /r/Keto Coconut Pancakes by memory and just adding a little of this and that
http://i.imgur.com/lyiLtw6.jpg

...I remembered that the title of the screen protector on the Amazon mentioned a lifetime warranty!
http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Scratch-Bubble-free-Fingerprint-Protector-Replacement/dp/B00KGSW734

I couldn't find any other details in the original packaging or on their website addressing this warantee, so I contacted iCarez through their email, [email protected], but the email didn't hit (got a server not found message). I contacted them through my Amazon account, contact seller and this got me a response. They told me to reply with some images of the damage (See album below). After a day, I received a shipping confirmation from them and received my replacement and within a week, I received a brand new screen protector!

I've been definitely babying my phone a lot more since this incident. But thanks to the awesome support and ease of replacement, I whole-heartedly recommend getting the iCarez glass screen protector! it kicks the llama's ass, although their website is janky as hell.

Lessons learned:
Always write down your recipe. I made the best fluffy and moist flourless pancakes ever that night without a recipe and didn't bother to write it down since I thought that I would remember. I didn't.

tldr; write down your recipe if experimenting in the kitchen.
Also buy the a glass screen protector from iCarez, it has a lifetime warranty and only costs $9. It's worth it.

I've used diztronic cases on my last few phones and have been happy with all of them. They fit snugly and still hold their shape after being pried off hundreds of times. I can't attest to the longevity of the G3 version, but the fit is great and it's under $10 on amazon.

Note that one of the black options is the "ultra" version, which is a bit thicker and has reinforced "bumpers" on the corners. I have the standard version.

Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case for LG G3

Got this kind as just a temporary case (was thinking of getting the Seidio case with the kickstand), but I REALLY like this one. Has the nice matte feel like you'd expect on a Nexus 5 of Nexus 7 - really fits snugly and just feels great. Doesn't add much bulk and I am so much more confident handling it one-handed now. May just stick with this tbh.

u/adm96 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Every switch has it's own advantage, reds have an advantage in gaming, as they have a lower actuation force. I have a brown switch KB as well and from my experience, they are not much different as they are still one of the more weaker switches (other then the fact that browns are tacticle). I suggest you try a pair of clear switches, they're similar to browns, but have a stronger actuation force; though they are much harder to find and keyboards that feature them are generally more expensive.

Here are some to look at:

KBC Poker 3

WASD Code

u/fanfarecross · 2 pointsr/linuxadmin

Second the WASD:

I use a WASD CODE at work with Cherry MX Clears. Thing is an absolute tank, minimal design (which I like), and has all the features I need.

I used to use a Das Keyboard Ultimate 4 at home, with Blues, but I swapped it out for the WASD CODE equivalent after using the one at work and liking it. About the only thing I miss from the Das is the volume wheel. The CODE has volume keys as function keys but not the slick wheel that the Das had.

I do, and would recommend it. A case made of TPU is more important to protect from drops, but screen protector will save you from a scratched screen.

The new “tempered glass” ones are all built more or less the same: a 0.3mm sandwich of toughened glass, backed by PET plastic, and a layer of silicone adhesive.

Better ones have a higher quality coating on the glass to give proper anti-glare and oileophoboc (repels oil/fingerprints) abilities. And for the iPhone 8, the screen curve is more pronounced even though it’s the “same shape” as iPhone6/6s/7, so its important to find one updated with a thicker adhesive layer to accommodate.

Edit: cut length for readability.

Ones I’ve tried:

Amfilm: fit an iPhone8 acceptably, but needed some extra pressure to get the edges down. Coating was fine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01415QHYW/ ($8/2-pack)

Manto: no ring effect on iPhone8, coating actually works. Would recommend. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07897X3Z2/ ($10/2-pack)

Ailun: would not recommend. These fit an iPhone6 fine but left a ring on my 8. The oileophobic coating just plain doesn’t work. At least they’re cheap. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0WUEWU/ ($6/3-pack)

u/Anon_8675309 · 2 pointsr/iphone

Yes. I like them better than the plastic ones, too. They offer better oleophobic (sp?) coatings, and they feel nearly as well as the original screen.

You don't have to get expensive ones either. I got this set of 2:

I've been using these ones since the iPhone 6. Never had a problem and they're cheap to replace if they break.

I have the Google adopted case for $20 with a Pleson Tempered glass screen protector (~$7 from Amazon). Keeps the phone at a reasonable size and well protected.

u/t88dsm · 2 pointsr/Nexus
u/itchy_feet_ · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I've been using the Diztronic flexible TPU case for a couple of months now and would probably give it a comfortable 4 out of 5 score. Generally it fits the phone well and does a great job of protecting it too. The buttons are covered and all of the ports etc have their own exclusive openings - not one opening for the fingerprint sensor & camera, which I'm a big fan of. The camera opening also rises up probably around .3mm or so for additional protection of the lens which is awesome.

On the other hand, the fit isn't that great: when I hold the phone to my ear and push it against my head I can generate a click between the case & phone. I rarely talk on the phone so it's not a big deal, but I've noticed it and can't stop noticing it anymore. I also have had it catch on my pocket while pulling it out and it can pop the case off of a corner or two of the phone. Again, not a huge issue, but definitely enough (IMO) to not give it 5 stars if this were an official review.

_____

As for screen protectors, I've been using the tempered glass screen protector from Pleson and it's been great. I used to use non-tempered screen protectors on my old Moto X and found that after around 3 months I wanted to replace them because they got gunked up with not exactly scratches, just a general blurriness in the high traffic areas of the screen like the keyboard. Mostly noticeable when the screen was off, but it wasn't ideal for looking at photos and it kind of just looked like crap.

The Pleson protector has been great for the three months I've had it. I can't see any blurriness building up and have noticed no decrease in the touch screen sensitivity. I did have a pretty good scare last week when my phone face planted onto a flat surface and I picked it up to discover a crack running vertically down the whole screen.... but thankfully it was only the protector. A bit bummed that the protector itself can crack, but pretty damn happy considering the potential alternative. That said, planning to order a replacement of the same within the week!

u/pokepud3 · 2 pointsr/GalaxyS7

I've reviewed a bunch and the only good screen protector period is armorshields. The rest suffer from orange peel texture, bubbling, small cutouts excluding the curves, and some have touch sensitivity issues.

Spigen Glas tR Slim https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Screen-Protector-Tempered-Glass/dp/B01L0F17LO

Went OCD on the first of the two in the pack and ended up redoing it with the second and it went on perfect. Covers the main and second screens with a cutout for the camera and proximity sensors. The protector only covers the actual screen , not the entire face of the phone so there's a gap between the protector and the edge of the phone. I have a Ringke case on mine and the gap is never an issue. I actually like the way it looks when the screen is off, too. The protector is lined up perfectly and the cutout is not cover gmthe camera or the camera housing but the wide angle on the camera lens picks up the edge of the screen protector in certain pictures under certain conditions. Doesn't affect most of the picture but it is a little annoying. Otherwise the glass feels great, I dropped the phone on its face and no scratches at all. Glass is very strong and clear..I no longer have to worry about scratching up my phone.

I like the glass by Spigen. For $10 you get two. I did my first one perfectly (stars were aligned in my favor or something). I have a review up under "Curtis". https://amzn.com/B01L0F17LO

Most of the bad reviews are from people who get pissed about what is exposed or how they screwed up.

Either way it's great quality for the price!

u/dubloe7 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I got a Rhinoshield myself. I got the oneplus brand tempered glass screen protector that doesn't go to the edges of the phone myself, but that kind of thing bothers some people more than others. I also want to wait until I'm done removing the case for a while, so I haven't actually put it on yet. I hear the Ozrly v2 tends to work well with cases, but I haven't tried it.

The default screen protector is just a plastic one. She'll probably have a much better experience if she gets a tempered glass one, your finger glides over much more smoothly.

I've used phones with and without screen protectors. I can say with confidence that if you do not use a screen protector you WILL get microscratches at the very least. Depends on how vigilant you are with making sure you don't drop it or letting it come in contact with surfaces or debris that can scratch it.

I buy tempered glass protectors strictly because they feel more like the original screen, but they have the added benefit of looking a lot better than plastic protectors.

Every time one breaks I think "I'm glad that wasn't the screen", peel it off, and buy a new one. You can get them for pretty cheap on Amazon. This Spigen one even comes with an install tool to put it on perfect for less than $12.

That's what the Whitestone screen protectors aim on solving. If you look at the reviews for the amFilm and Caseology tempered glass screen protectors, most people are complaining that they don't cover the edges of the screen. Some people are okay without full screen coverage, but some people are okay with paying the extra $50 for full coverage. FWIW, I don't even use a screen protector due to the hassle.

On other models I didn't like the plastic in front of my phone, I found it difficult to use the touch screen. Not impossible, mind you, just difficult.

So when I got a new one I got this that has nothing - no screen. I also wanted it to be taken in and out really easily. I've used this for three weeks now and I love it. Easy to remove my iphone from. It is comfortable.

Also, I'm a male and the armband on this is great. It doesn't feel too loose, and it is long enough to fit my bicep in. I'm not built or anything, but I have an average size arm and the last one I got this was an issue. So this arm band is certainly big enough for me.

If you do decide to purchase, I'll fill you in on a few things about it.

-The case is pre-applied with 3M adhesive. (if you want to take off the case, they require heating it up with a hairdryer first)

-The top corners have seem to chip a little on mine recently (I've had it for 2-3 months). I can upload a photo later.

-You can remove your battery without peeling off the case.

I recommend getting a tempered glass screen protector. This is the same one I have on mine. Flawless.

Edit: oh Yea! The case will collect lint in the cracks for a week. Just keep using it. It will stop. My favorite thing is a burst of fresh cut wood every time you pull it out of your pocket.

u/Marka_Lagmost · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Hey guys! I just came from /r/pcmasterrace with my own build. Now I need a good mechanical keyboard for gaming and casual use. I just bought [the Code keyboard[(http://www.amazon.com/104-Key-Illuminated-Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlighting/dp/B00LV5P2N8/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1450294883&sr=1-1&keywords=code+keyboard) and it was great, however it is LOUD.

The loud clacky sound is satisfying but does get to me after a while. I use the WASD finger setup for movement in MMO's, as well as keeping my left pinky on the left shift key and my left thumb on the left Alt key(this is so I can use my Naga to its full potential) so this keyboard wouldn't work. The left Alt key isn't as close to the center of the keyboard as I would like so it's a stretch for my thumb. Since I'm capable of gaming for 5-6+ hours straight I need to be able to rest my thumb comfortably on the alt key.

SO I need a mechanical keyboard that has the alt key closer to the center and isn't too loud. I've been looking for keyboards that have the right edge of the left alt key at least lining up with the left edge of the D key. Does anyone have a recommendation that is under $150? Preferably something that will last as opposed to flashiness. Thank you so much guys!

u/wishful_cynic · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Please help me pick my first mechanical keyboard!

This sub has been a very helpful resource in guiding me towards my first mechanical keyboard. I’ve become annoyed at the mushy, loose keys on my office keyboard. Every office comes with a standard cheap keyboard, so this purchase will be out of my own pocket and I want to make sure I choose a keyboard I love.

I don’t do much data entry apart from time sheets and occasional spreadsheets, so a full size keyboard is not necessary. I don’t keep my office dark, so a backlight isn’t necessary. However, I do plan to bring my keyboard home with me on nights and weekends when I know I’ll be doing a large amount of writing, so a backlight would be nice. I also think backlit keyboards look nice. Writing is most of what I do, so I want a keyboard that I love.

I pound my keys hard. Even these cheap, loose, mushy keys make a lot of noise. There are people working in offices next to mine, as well as secretaries at desks in the hallway outside my office. I want to make sure that the noise level of my typing is considerate of these people.

I want to buy a keyboard that I will love out of the box. I want to buy online with free shipping. I don’t want to spend more than $150 and I don’t want to replace switches, so some of the less common switches that make less noise are probably out of consideration. Key caps are something I might look into down the road if I fall in love with my keyboard and want either a sturdier key cap or different colors, but for now I would like to be happy with my initial investment (although, judging by this sub, this might not be my last mechanical keyboard). From the research I’ve done, based on my hard keystrokes and consideration of making less noise, the right switches for me appear to be Cherry MX Clears.

Here are the keyboards I’m currently considering:

u/LumberCockSucker · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

> including shipping (to where I am) straight from WASD would be $168 for a fullsize Code with MX Clears

Amazon has them cheaper.. Someone looking for this keyboard would be so much better to pay $7 more and just get it from Amazon in two days rather than wait a few weeks for it to ship from Massdrop. Massdrop is such a joke anymore, they rarely have any worthwhile deals.

That particular one is a mechanical Velocifire: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0QEYR4

I bought a CODE one for work, but didn't want to spend as much on another one for home: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LV5P2N8/

I got back into mechanical keyboards over the last couple of years, after many years of using cheap shitty rubber dome ones. I'm never going back.

You do a lot of heavy input and you use a laptop keyboard? Do they even supply monitors? That would be painful.

At work, we ALL have dual Thinkvision monitors and I have a DAS and Code mechanical keyboards. When I bought them, they were cheaper though, but still expensive. As good as my laptop keyboards are (T60,X220), I would not use them if I had the mechanical keyboard present.

Just something to consider.

WASD CODE 104-Key or Ducky Shine 4 for first mechanical keyboard?

My 2009 Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K740 is starting to break down after many years of faithful service. I figured I should replace it with my first mechanical keyboard. While doing research with the wiki and related posts in the subreddit, I picked up a WASD Cherry MX Switch Tester to help determine which switch I am most interested in. I confirmed my suspicion from reading the buying guide that I would prefer Cherry MX Clears or Greens (maybe even Light Greys). I will have to go with Clears to reduce noise but would go with Greens otherwise. It will be used at home for general typing and I am currently playing Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield 3.

Requirements:

  • MX Clears

  • 100% keyboard (I'm a sad panda without 10 key)

  • Backlighting preferred but can live without it

    Not needed or wanted:

  • Macro keys

  • Media keys

  • Volume rocker

  • NKRO

I can get the CODE for $155 on Amazon and use my Prime shipping. I found the Shine 4 on mechanicalkeyboards.com for $140 although the Add to Cart option is visible and says it is out of stock, so I'm not sure what's going on there.

I'd like to hear any suggestions either way or another model I may have missed. Thank you!

It went away after a day. The screen protector was this one from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01415QHYW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8ZUWAb7ATT1ZP). I think there was some water trapped as a thin layer under the screen protector but it was absorbed by the adhesive evaporated out.

u/rbizzle_10 · 1 pointr/ipad

So I'm picking up the iPad Pro 2018 this weekend and was getting some accessories for it. I'm paying for this myself so my compromise will have to come with the accessories. I don't really need the pencil but it would be nice to have.

My issue is with the screen protector. Now that the iPad has been out for almost a year, I wanted to know the screen damage difference between the tempered glass and matte-style. I'm not really drawing or anything, and I've always used TechMatte screen protectors because I really like the tempered glass feel. I've had no issues with it on any of my phones, whatsoever. I don't see how it would be any different for the iPad version.

Questions:

How much does glass affect writing vs writing on a matte?

Does using glass create the same amount of screen deterioration seen while using matte protectors?

u/relativ_c · 1 pointr/iphone

I've spent more money than I care to admit on tempered glass and settled on amFilm. They're the only ones that are cheap and durable enough to protect against a big drop.

iPhone SE. If he's skating and such it's more of a brick than iphone 6. If you get him the iphone 6 i would suggest a case. Better yet check out Swappa.com might be able to pick up at iphone 6s. The iphone 6 bends and I've been to the apple store and a lot of people bring in their 6 when I was getting my camera issue fixed and it's mainly from the bend. This guys 6 bent and he couldn't get any reception and another guys screen stopped working. Although I'm not sure if you use Swappa it'll get to you on time (23rd). I highly suggest SE since it's got new hardware, and really durable. I had the iphone 5s and it was literally a brick. If you want to get the 6 I'd go for 6s. Cases and Screen protector straight off Amazon. Go with Spigen for case or caseology both good brands and have thin cases. Screen protector any tempered glass works as long as it's 3.5-4 stars you should be fine. Both fairly cheap 8 dollar screen protector and 10 dollar case aprox.

TL:DR: iphone SE is great, new hardward and a brick. iphone 6 bends and has issues not sturdy. Swappa.com good place to buy used phones. Has people verify iMei and everything. iPhone 6s recommended solid and good if you want to go for 6 just get the 6s last longer and won't bent.

edit: I should mention I highly recommend SE cause he skates. Main reason, due to phone will last longer if he keeps it in his pocket or drops it. If he skates and is somewhat careful with his phone iphone6 (but pref 6s it won't bend and cause issues)

I have this case and this tempered glass screen protector. I like them both quite well. I've had plastic film screen protectors before, both as part of a case and as a standalone application, never again. The tempered glass is waaaay nicer IMO. Smoother, firmer, more resistant to scratches/marks. The only time I even notice the screen protector is when pressing the home button - its not in the way or anything, but it is thick enough that I'm aware of its presence.

u/gibletdinner · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I understand that; but there are certainly some people who get into fender benders every few months and I used the example of my last phone to demonstrate that I am not one of those people.

I have a Pleson tempered glass screen protector and this Pleson bumper case on the phone.

The second crack isn't touching the first one, so they seemed like unrelated damage, but maybe it was just more susceptible to another crack after the first one.

I bought ArmorSuit for my S7 and it's been great, fits perfectly with my case and besides being slightly more "sticky" it runs smooth. I've since bought additional versions for other devices... Economical with lifetime replacements. (Edited for autocorrected product name.)

u/AddictedToAsianFood · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I wouldn't recommend cheaping on out on screen protectors for the S7 as even the decent cheap ones from Amazon tend to peel off once you pair it with a case. Maybe they've gotten better since I last bought mine as I got it when the S7 was still new, but here's the one I bought:

https://www.amazon.com/Armorsuit-MilitaryShield-Protector-Anti-Bubble-Replacements/dp/B01ACXRS6I/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1485463105&sr=1-4&keywords=s7+screen+protector

Still holds up fine almost a year later without any peeling and it's under $10. Really easy to put on too since you can move it around when applying.

Just offering some tips as I went through a couple cheap screen protectors thinking it wouldn't matter.

u/cashmunny · 1 pointr/GalaxyS7

I have the S7 edge, so good screen protectors are hard to come by because they're prone to come up around the edges. The best protector I have ever used on any phone is the Armorsuit MilitaryShield.

It uses a wet application process so you will need to power down your phone overnight while it dries. I recommend watching a YouTube tutorial when applying it. The end result is a smooth, bubble free protector that you can barely tell is there.

I use the commuter with this screen protector since December and it is still in perfect condition. I followed the instructions and left my phone off for 12 hours which was hard but I did it right before bed on a night I didn't have to set an alarm. It doesnt bunch up in the corners or edges, I have no dirt or air bubbles, and it hasn't torn. I shove my phone in my purse, my pockets, my desk, no issues. It's a good product. Also my touch screen response has not changed at all.

Well maybe if you followed the reply, then you'd know what I was talking about.
Someone says post a pic, a pic is posted, from what I REFERENCED in my first gawd damn reply detailing how I did't like the TG for the v20, and that I was going to use the one for the v10 because I thought it was a better fit. Just receiving the v20, I didn't take into account that their screen dimensions were actually that much different.

Why would someone post a pic of the v10, when the discussion is about the TG on the v20? HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Anyway, there is a new discussion going on, if you hadn't noticed...there are new Spigen TG protectors out for the v20...

u/RAMASO · 1 pointr/lgv20

Due to the top and bottom of the screen edging into a curve it makes it not perfectly flat. Therefore glass screen protectors are sized not to cover the full-screen glass and some are made too short (and ugly) on both ends. I see the image for the Spingen glass screen protector (link below) just listed yesterday on Amazon as an example of what manufacturers are best able to do. The glass protector leaves the last 3/16" uncovered at the top and bottom of the V20 screen.
I ordered a plastic full-screen protector, yet to arrive, from Amazon, the link also below. It's a wet installation screen protector for what you need a very clean dust free environment and a lot of patience. Note that this one is described as case friendly, which to me means the case will not mess up the edges by leaving an uncovered gap around the screen for clearance.

Did you get the curved or just the regular? The curved is supposed to cover the whole screen similar to the Orzly which I have now but without the newtwon rings/rainbow/oil slick in the middle. Although some people report that the black bezels cover ~10 pixels on each side of the screen.

u/Jcconnell · 1 pointr/oneplus

u/Saikou0taku · 1 pointr/oneplussupport

I like my Orzly one. Fits with the Orzly TPU case as well as a generic eBay Wallet case.

A trick I found when installing my screen protector was case first, then screen protector, since the case helped me line up the protector.

Notice micro-scratches on my screen, then a few more weeks later so I was tempted to get a screen protector however every review was critical and mentioned lack of proper coverage so I got a wallet case but then got the Pthink Protector.

It was my first time putting on the protector and I couldn't get it to settle properly around the bottom logo part and in the process broke both screens provided. This is the one I'm using. I've heard really good things about the Yootech brand as well.

If you've never installed a wet type before, watch the installation videos and go slow. You can peel, respray, and restick them until they dry, so they're easy to get right. You also have to be patient and give them time. They can take 2 or 3 days before they're completely clear and bubble free. Think of it like installing window tint on a car, because it's basically the same thing.

is this the one you're talking about?
Damn I'm actually worried. I tend to drop my phone quite a bit, so I feel like I would need a strong screen. I know glass doesn't fully protect it from drop, but at least it puts my mind at ease.

offtopic: I had NeoHybrid Spigen case for my previous phone, and it offered a bit of bump protection for the front screen. Does it have for the S8 too?

u/Blue2501 · 1 pointr/Smartphones

If you're okay with a plastic protector, and if you're okay with a wet install, I can vouch for the Spigen Neo Flex. I put one on my wife's S8, along with a spigen case, and it's been pretty nice. Make sure you watch the video on the amazon page, and there's one unusual thing about the install - you'll want to put it on with your case already on. With the install process, you can move it around until you start squeegee-ing it down, so having the case on lets you get it positioned to avoid touching the case.

It looks fucky for the first day. After that it gets clear enough you can barely see it, but it does have the plastic screen protector feel to it.

Do you have a non-glass one or a glass one? Glass one looks more safe, does it fit well? Will I be safe with the non-glass one (I am very insecure)? If non-glass, do you recommend matte or not? Thanks in advance.

IQ Shield is the answer to this problem. Very affordable and comes with a solution to spray on the adhesive so you can move it around as much as you want.

It does sometimes lift up on the edges because the case will sometimes push up against it. If only they could make the screens as good as the case.

Also bestbuy had the case in stock in the store.

And also use caution when installing the case. Carefully align the silent/ring button with the triangle slot. Otherwise the plastic will strip, I had to exchange my first case. Not sure if I stripped it of if it came like that but I was aware the 2nd time around an had no issues.

Wish it was waterproof but otherwise I am Very and happy strongly recommend!

i got this glass protector and I wouldn't recommend it. I ordered it knowing it wasn't an edge to edge protector so it would be compatible with cases. However even with a case on, there is still space between the case and protector. Not only does it look bad but it leaves areas unprotected.

Only issue is it's not 100% adhesive, only around the edges but I don't see any flex in the screen, ever.

Also, they're very glossy, so reflections are heightened and fingerprints are very attracted too.

Edit: absolutely no halo effect and edges of the protected are smooth

I currently use the Tethys glass screen protector for my 11 Pro Max. It basically overs the whole front, even the notch, and it fits well with my case. Face ID works normally and gestures work fine. I sometimes don’t notice it’s even there. Comes with a pack of three for a pretty good price.

Like:

  • Super slick surface. Seriously; I've used cheaper screen protectors that feel like they're NOT glass; have an almost sticky / rough feeling to them, your fingers do not glide easily around the screen and it is awful. Don't get the cheapest ones out there. You truly get what you pay for.

  • These are truly full-screen / cover the entire face of the phone. I think this is better as it protects the notch area & the sensitive equipment in there from scratches.

  • comes with a nifty guide to help perfectly center the protector. Essential for OCD people like me. :-)

    Don't like:

  • the edge isn't beveled quite as much as others claim to be and it's a little annoying / doesn't feel good on your finger when you swipe up from the bottom to go home. It's a little rough as your finger goes over the edge of the protector.

Seeing how often you perform that gesture, I'm seriously considering looking for & getting a good protector that has ultra-beveled edges, something like this:

I have this one. It was crazy easy to install and not bad for 12 bucks. It's definitely as low and as I would personally go, but good enough that I'm not looking for a new one anytime soon.

Attracts fingerprint smudges like crazy, but they wipe off instantly just on my t-shirt, so no big deal. I'm definitely not a fan of the dot Matrix, but this is the first time I've had a screen protector on in 2 years, so I don't know how common that is, might just be the way things are. It covers the entirety of the screen but not the entirety of the front of the phone. That's actually good for me because I've had three different cases and they've all been fine. I did turn up the touch sensitivity after putting it on and it's been flawless as far as that goes. If you're looking for something a little cheaper, even if it is just while you take your time and investigate other protectors or wait to see if something else comes out, this one is pretty good bang for your buck.

u/similar_observation · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote9

I have the same issue near the home button. This screen protector is just about a month old.

Now, I've heard some folks claim that the protector is not glass. This is not the case. I've actually cut myself trying to remove an old cracked protector. I can confirm very much that it is glass and a laminate component to absorb damage like a car's front windshield.

I guess I can keep dumping $10 for replacements as long as they'll replace it. If not, I kept the jigs and can use Chinese knockoffs. I also have a decent UV lamp, which does a better job than the 30 second timer on the provided lamp. BTW, you can buy the components individually on ebay and aliexpress. So it doesn't math out correctly why this kit should cost $50-60 per set.

Lets do the math in retail prices:

I used this one. Sometimes the protector doesn't stick on edges occasionally. Not sure what causes it? Bad install? Too much or not enough liquid? Just bad plastic cover? Not sure but first one edges wouldn't stick so used second one and it stuck well. It's like a soft plastic instead of the small hard plastic of stock. At first I didn't like the soft but have grown to like it better. Once you get one to. Stick on edges it works Great so far. (common problem for all protectors)

I was skeptical but my factory screen protector was so scratched i had to try something. went with the iq shield. its rubbery plastic like the other commentors. different to install but not too bad. i got mine on the ffirst try(it comes with 2.) zero bubles, and amazingly not a single scratch over the past month of use, and im hell on my phones. for example, the factory protector was nearly un-usbable after a month of use. idk if the screen heals itself after scratches or what.

fingerprint reader works just as well as stock. wet install, wraps around edges but doesnt bubble up from my ringke case.

s10+ link, btw.

u/captainant · 1 pointr/samsung

I bought the IQ Shield Case Friendly protectors and have had zero issues with the fingerprint scanner. The screen protector is one of those self-healing films so it never carries scratches, but the finger feel is different from glass or the preinstalled protector.

Installation is pretty easy, you basically clean the phone, then spray your fingers and both sides of the screen protector with the included bottle of soapy water, then apply the protector to your phone. Installation is a breeze since until the liquid dries, you can move and adjust the protector without peeling it off the phone. You use the included rubber squeegee to push out any air bubbles, and then after a few minutes of drying, need to use the squeegee and your hands/fingers to make sure it bonds and adheres on the curved edges of the screen.

It took me about 5 minutes to take off the preinstalled protector, clean the phone, apply the new protector, work the bubbles out, and get the edges sticking down.

Once the protector is on, there will be a little bit of optical distortion and maybe some small bubbles that wouldn't work themselves out for at most a couple hours, but the final state is a minimally invasive screen protector that's cheap and effective and works with the fingerprint scanner

u/ijustwantcheezits · 1 pointr/samsung

IQshield. Got a pack of 2 for $10 on Amazon. It has a pretty similar feel to the preinstalled protector, but softer. Went on easy and bubbles are nonexistent if you do it right, and it's fingerprint resistant.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07MBK7BYP?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Edit: when I say fingerprint resistant, I mean it stays clean. It works perfectly fine with the ultrasonic reader.
