I'm 23. I was basically indoctrinated by my parents. They listened to a lot of classical music and provided me with such things as Beethoven Lives Upstairs and Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery, which pretty much cemented it for me. Started ballet at 3 and didn't quit, so that helped too.

u/mrdaneeyul · 6 pointsr/StarWars

It's on Amazon if you want the physical copy or MP3. It's probably on iTunes as well.

u/ArtistBruce24 · 5 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

Walt Disney World - Official Album

That album has all the originals and is a little pricey.

Where the Magic Lives

That album is the holding music you hear plus some. Not as expensive but still collectible.

Four Parks, One World

And lastly this album also has the original songs you hear around the parks. Once again, collectible.

Hope this helps!

I couldn't be more jealous. I would love to see this band perform live.

The vinyl has been on my WL since 5/24. You can find it on the first page of my "Vinyl" wish list.

Thanks so much for the contest and your generosity. Three people are going to be listening to some awesome music soon, thanks to you!

u/MimiHylea · 4 pointsr/tipofmytongue

The song "I've Been Working on the Railroad" has some of those elements, and I know has a few variant sets of lyrics (though I don't remember hearing one where anyone gets hit).

Your description of the CD made me think of this one: https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Silly-Songs-Simply-Singable/dp/B000001M1F , which contains the Peanut song mentioned by another commenter and "Bill Grogan's Goat" which also features a train

Bend Down The Branches is fittingly on this kid's album

Ah, we have Raffi, but we also have stuff like Dog Train and Philadelphia Chickens. Music by Sandra Boyton, often employing celebrity talents for the songs. A few favorites are Snuggle Puppy, Boring Song, I Need A Nap (with Weird All & Kate Winslet), BusyBusyBusy, Dragonfire, Pig Island

You should really check out "They Might Be Giants" as well. :) They've started making children's music a few years ago. It may take a few listens for the songs to grow on you, but they are awesome. :)

The No! album has got some great songs, favs are Fibber Island, Violin, I Am Not Your Broom, The House At The Top Of The Tree

Be sure to peruse the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section for some good ideas of similar whimsical modern kids music.

We like almost all the songs from Here Come The 123s quite a bit. Funny, whimsical music videos as well. Some of my daughter's long time favorites are One Everything, Triops Has Three Eyes, High Five, Seven, Hotdog. I like "Apartment Four" quite a bit.

All TMBG Childrens Music

Also check out the For The Kids albums. Great stuff. I've Got To Be Clean is a fav as well as La La La Lemon by Bare Naked Ladies.

And finally, Singin' In The Bathtub by John Lithgow. Very funny, silly and cheerful. :)

Hope this helps. :)

Vivaldi was my favourite. My mom and dad are going to Venice at the end of the month and my jealousy knows no bounds....

u/HussyTussle · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

He's at great age, and probably still non-materialistic. He would probably be more happy with a coloring book than an expensive toy robot. I suggest something educational that you can do with him. I used to be a preschool teacher I know my kids loved the They Might Be Giants kid's album "No". http://www.amazon.com/No-They-Might-Be-Giants/dp/B000068C97. It is an enhanced CD and has lots of toddler friendly computer games/videos for the songs.

u/_Anthem_ · 2 pointsr/daddit

We liked the rock lullabies for when my son was a baby, and now for my new daughter. Kind of like kids music, but a little more palatable to adults.

u/MrMessyMarvin · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

Just brainstorming here...

Does he like Coffee? Give him a Starbucks card, there are stores in all the parks now.

The Official Album (https://www.amazon.com/Disney-World-Official-Album-Release/dp/B00EVAY1EQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1479417276&sr=1-3&keywords=disney+park+music)

Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner at a Park Restaurant

Disney Photopass

Make sure he gets a sticker every day

I like the shirt idea too, never ordered here but... https://www.customink.com/photos/tags/disney-world

Something like this would be good. "Sing-Along" songs and the like. Things like "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider." Because of your disability, though, maybe you could start her with a "children's sing-along song" DVD, that shows the subtitles across the bottom. That way you could sing along with her. I'm not very educated on deafness and how you could interact with her in that way, I'm sorry. Maybe there are "sing along" DVD's in which they show the verbal words spoken as subtitles along with how to sign the songs...? I wish I could be of more help.

u/JaneHurtin · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Aw, Happy Birthday! What a sweet contest! I'm going to pick this They Might Be Giants CD for my son - we listen to music every day on the way home from day care and although he loves it all, I could use a bit more variety :-D

u/uxixu · 2 pointsr/Catholicism

This is excellent advice. Custodianship of memories is as important as custodianship of the eyes, if not moreso. You must replace the sinful memories and experiences with the sacred and bury the sinful past as much as possible. Buy a couple CD's of Gregorian Chant:

https://www.amazon.com/Chant-Benedictine-Monks-Santo-Domingo/dp/B000002SKX

https://www.amazon.com/Sæcula-Sæculorum-Selections-Perennial-Chant/dp/B0089FI7I0/

https://www.amazon.com/Adventus-Gregorian-Chants-Sundays-Advent/dp/B001C98EN8/

https://www.amazon.com/BENEDICTA-Marian-Chant-Norcia-Monks/dp/B00V66GNMQ/

Listen to it whenever you would listen to other things. Watch movies like The Passion of the Christ, Ben Hur, etc.

Read the classics, ideally stuff before the 1960's, if not before the 20th century. Especially this: https://books.google.com/books?id=3PkYNcU0k94C&pg=PA3

Confession, early and often. Weekly or bi-weekly until you can break it. Mass as often as you can. Ideally, daily Mass but that might not be practical. If you can do that for a month, you should break the hold.

Obviously pray. You are not strong enough alone. I certainly wasn't. You can and should be begging the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. Pray the Rosary daily. Get formally invested in the brown scapular and wear it to remind you to pray your daily Rosary.

Pray before bed and when you wake up. An examination of conscience followed by a Confiteor and at least a decade of the Rosary. If you make it a habit, you will replace your lustful habits...

u/ernieball · 2 pointsr/NovemberBumpers2017

Yeah, baby. You've seen this and this, yes? I bought them for my nephew's 1st birthday and already have them in the cart for this kid :D

u/lollyopple · 2 pointsr/coversongs

I'm really liking the Green Album by various artists doing muppet songs. probably not what you had in mind, but i love (most) of the tracks.

u/TheNargrath · 2 pointsr/Parenting

I used to sing a lot of Barenaked Ladies' Snacktime songs, especially Polywog In A Bog, mostly due to the giggles I'd get.

She also likes almost anything CCR, so I've gotten to sing lots of their stuff, as well as Bob Marley.

Not nursery rhymes by any stretch, but the kiddo really seems to like full on songs for the most part.

u/hereiamtosavetheday_ · 1 pointr/relationship_advice

The mom will already have a good selection of board books, I'm willing to bet. Most parents are happy to have something quiet to do with baby, and its okay if pages get torn - that's what tape is for. Teaching a child how to handle books early means you don't have to live through the destructive paper-tearing phase. I nannied for nearly 20 years; its all about warping their defenseless little minds with civilizing pre-sets. :)

Another choice is a CD or a book combo -- John Lithgow did one of the best, I've gifted this a dozen times, its a pick-me-up big band thing. https://www.amazon.com/Singin-Bathtub-John-Lithgow/dp/B00000I8A3#customerReviews

This has some wicked talent on every song, big name actors with really interesting voices, and the lyrics are by Boynton, so any kid with ears is going to be able to sing them within minutes. I know all these songs. There's a lot of style variety and there are chattering aardvarks, which is always a nice touch. https://www.amazon.com/Philadelphia-Chickens-Sandra-Boynton/dp/B0001ADB6Y/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=children+boynton&qid=1555922081&refinements=p_n_binding_browse-bin%3A387645011&rnid=387643011&s=music&sr=1-3#customerReviews

Lithgow did one of my favorite albums.

"Gnu song" is definitely the best.

u/piratesgoyarr · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This album for my kiddos in the car would be awesome. I'm watching tangled right now so that's what's in my head. I'd rather be rocking to the eighties.

u/OneHasLepers · 1 pointr/tipofmytongue

I would guess Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery, but I cannot say that I remember that gambling scene.

> Amongst the sale today at Shibuyas disc union was Gorrilaz - Demon Dayz and self-titled, Smashing Pumkins - Meloncholy Infiniate Sadness, Beck - Seachange and Odelay (great albums but Seachange isnt worth 250 bucks for me) and some other very rare pressings.

RIP wallets.

let me save you like $170: http://www.amazon.com/TRON-Legacy-Daft-Punk-LP/dp/B011V1WTB4/

i don't think it is the first run, limited edition one. but apparently it's identical in every way.

Typing "lion king Broadway soundtrack vinyl" into the google: https://www.amazon.com/Lion-King-LP-Picture-Disc/dp/B00MEQR9IE/ref=tmm_vnl_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

That's a picture disk. Not sure if there are other versions. Check the usual places (discogs, amazon, etc.)

Check out the album Snack Time by Barenaked Ladies. All kids songs.

u/overgrownpixie · 1 pointr/Music

Have you tried Owl City? His lyrics aren't as adult as others. You can also try Depapepe, a japanese guitar duo. They don't have lyrics, but my mom plays them for her kindergarten class.

Tallywood String Quartet covers a bunch of other bands, but aren't as "noisy". It's like Rockabye Baby, but a little less baby-targeted. Actually, I don't think it's targeted at them at all...but still child friendly! :D

I would've suggested these Disney silly kids songs, but I can't be sure you have the same appreciation for the silly as my mom. Haha.

u/BeJeezus · 1 pointr/funny

I was thinking more of things like this or this, which still get stuck in the heads of four year olds (and their parents) every day.

u/AressVeran · 1 pointr/Disneyland

As many have mentioned, the Tubes of You is a good place. If you need titles to start searching, check out any of these on Amazon (might be a fair bit of redundancy, I just grabbed a handful of URLs):

https://www.amazon.com/Disneyland-Resort-Official-Album-Set/dp/B00FA2ZJU4

https://www.amazon.com/Musical-History-Disneyland-50th-Anniversary/dp/B000AA4MHM

https://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-Records-Legacy-Collection/dp/B0106438AS <- Based on the cover, this looks to be the Spotify playlist /u/whitesoxfan5622 mentioned.

If none of those lists contain quite what you're looking for, try contacting City Hall in Disneyland with the specifics and they might be able to help you out/point you in the right direction.

Thats confusing! lol, but if I dont want the banana at all, I'm just wasting money, right? I normally buy books or cds, so I check the price with super savings and the price without when I buy more than one item, and its usually cheaper without... Any tips for this? For example, I wanted to buy several of these cds (dont laugh!), all cedermont kids, different songs on the cds for my gramma but it seemed cheaper to buy the ones without 'free' shipping. I ended up just downloading them and burning them though and saved on all the shipping! Whaat would you have suggested?
