Yes. Assuming you're eating this size of jar, that's around 420 grams of sugar, which is around 1,120% of the American Heart Association's recommended added sugar intake for men. Even if you eat absolutely no added sugar on your non-nutella days, that's still over 5 times the recommended amount every day.

Like my 105 oz jar of Nutella?

[HEAVY BREATHING]

Happy Saturday, ladies <3 I'm just going to take a moment long post to be thankful for keto allowing me to live a normal life. I was diagnosed with MS 2 years ago tomorrow, and I remember what life was like: I had to quit my job, not because I was incapable of working, but because I was incapable of even getting to work (wobbled on my bike, too tired to walk, and I couldn't hold myself upright on a moving bus), or standing for more than a few minutes. The last few nights I came home from work, I would immediately drop to my knees and crawl to the couch. I was eating MMJ oil from the minute I woke up until I literally couldn't stay awake, to control the muscle spasms that were so painful they took my breath away. Less than 2 months later, I had quit smoking and started dairy-free keto.

Possibly exacerbated by my recent foray into higher carb days (<50g), and definitely instigated by relationship stress, I'm having a real-life, honest-to-goodness MS flare up. My weird fit of crushing depression the other night, some new muscle spasms I'm not used to, and fuzzy vision in Mah Bad Eye all culminated in some extra special, Super Deluxe Fatigue that caused me to fall asleep ON the cohabitant last night (oops... at least it was ottoman style and not cuddly?). This sounds bad, but it's actually really wonderful!

The inexplicably suicidal meltdown startled me out of my veganism, and I've stayed under 15g carbs for two days now, so I'm feeling fine this morning. I worked 40 hours this week, and only felt like I needed to go home during my last 2 hours yesterday (I stuck it out). The fatigued pass-out last night resulted in a seriously great night of sleep, but I woke up after 9 hours without an alarm, happy to make my coffee and read the Daily. When I remember being blind in one eye and basically immobile, compared to running 20 miles a week, biking 50 miles a week, working full time, and passing out at 7pm after a long week, I can't even express how fucking excited I am. If this is MS, I'm going to be fine. My life isn't over at all!

Two arbitrary items for Daily relevance: I received the keto Nutella that /u/ketokate-o recommended, and let me just say Holy Forking Shirtballs that stuff is amazing. I'm glad it's a mail-order thing, and I can't just keep a full jar around, because I would absolutely polish off the entire thing in one sitting (I'm pretty sure that would be like 150g of fiber). Also, Cute Ex texted me yesterday, and I thought he wanted to ask about taking over my lease, but he asked me to hang out. Yes, Cute Ex, I would absolutely like to hang out with you and your cuteness (meep).

Everyone take good care of yourselves today, and always KCKO, because it may literally be the cure for what ails you!

For snacks, I like these broccoli “chips”. For cooking ingredients that I can’t find in my local stores, I just ordered this sugar-free Nutella to add to my chia pudding, and this keto maple syrup to experiment with some mug cakes.

u/Rajili · 3 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

I wondered the same. I may have to surprise my wife with this.

Maltesers Teasers Chocolate Spread 200g (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ULMAPMU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AUy9Ab0RBWKVD

u/sour_creme · 3 pointsr/interestingasfuck

let's do the math.

https://www.amazon.com/Nutella-Hazelnut-Spread-Ounce-Plastic/dp/B0005Z6ZK4

one serving is 2 tablespoons = 37g according to nutella's own nutrition fact sheet (See link above). that one serving contains 21g sugar. 21g/37g = 0.57 = 57% total sugar content.

however, part of teh "sugar" will be lactose from the skim milk, which is about 12g sugar per 25g milk powder. How much milk powder is in Nutella? 8.7% milk powder http://foodwatch.com.au/blog/additives-and-labels/item/nutella-the-full-correct-list-of-ingredients.html

So ratio is 12g/25g = x/(37g*.087) == 1.5g milk sugar to be subtracted from 21g total sugar

21g- 1.5g = 19.5g white sugar

1.5/37g = 0.52 = 52% white sugar

btw,
the FDA has finalized new rules regarding nutrition labels, and have added the line "added sugars"
http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/LabelingNutrition/ucm385663.htm

in the future (by law, july 2018), when nutella changes its labels, it will have a new line that will reflect how much added sugar is in the product (in addition to the sugar that's in there now). so the nutella nutrition label may one day read total sugars, 21g total, includes 19.5g added sugar.

Edit: skim milk powder ratios

It will las longer if you get this.

Okay, I'm guessing you're talking about low-carb products marketed as such, like Atkin's snack bars and low-carb ice cream? I've tried the following:

  • Low-carb butter pecan ice cream I found at Pavillions (a.k.a. Vons)
  • low-carb ice cream popsicles (both the one with the almonds and the plain chocolate-coated ones) - also found at Pavillions
  • Atkin's low-carb shakes found at Target
  • low-carb bread found I don't remember where (I'm trying to black it out of my memory...)
  • sugar-free nutella knock-off I found on Amazon here
  • low-carb soft-serve ice cream I found at a low-carb shop way out in Tustin that's now closed
  • low-carb bbq sauce and coctail sauce found at aforementioned store
  • reduced sugar ketchup found at Target
  • sugar-free bread and butter pickles found at Pavillions

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I had eaten "carb-smart" tortillas found at Target for a while before I started keto, but I stopped because wheat is crack. The only stuff I like are the ketchup, pickles, and nutella (not together, though). I did not include all sugar-free products that I buy because that's too long a list - just the products that market themselves specifically to low-carb dieters.

Edit: To answer the other question, I prefer buying whole foods and making everything myself. Most low-carb products are crap, in my opinion, but that's just me, though.

achieve a goal: would love to finally have a decent phone case! (phone accessories list)

deserted island: assuming i'd be deserted there for reals and left for dead i'd say either these or this as a sort of last meal type dealio hehe (on the food wishlist)

On the off chance this hasn't been chosen yet...

Kitten mittens! And one word: Nutella.

u/Prisaneify · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Nutella of course, isn't that the reddit snack of choice?!?

I would be tickled to have a bookmark.
I'm not very crafty myself so it is always nice to see things from people who are!

ya i did find it. it was 40 euros over there but here on amazon its a steal for $85. http://www.amazon.com/Ferrero-Nutella-Made-Italy-Giant/dp/B003NL9MPW its like they know they have something we want

u/obsessive_cook · 1 pointr/recipes

There are other chocolate-hazelnut spreads that are organic and without palm oil; this one uses sunflower oil instead. There are also other fancier versions called "gianduja paste." They're generally more expensive too, but if you have a food processor, you can make your own. Smitten Kitchen has her own version using peanuts; just swap out with hazelnuts.

By the way, good on you for not liking palm oil. I was in Borneo for a field course and saw the effects of palm oil plantations first hand.

Hi -- here are some things you might add, based on what you say you like:

Peanut butter: http://www.amazon.com/Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Twin-Ounce/dp/B00061ETX2/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1419134519&sr=8-10&keywords=peanut+butter

Jelly (grape, but there are other kinds): http://www.amazon.com/Welchs-Concord-Grape-Jelly-jars/dp/B0046ZD6LK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419134732&sr=8-3&keywords=jelly

mac and cheese: http://www.amazon.com/Kraft-Macaroni-Cheese-7-25-oz-Boxes/dp/B0019RLJV2/ref=pd_bxgy_gro_text_z

Pasta (there are others, but this seemed like a lot for the money, at least at first glance, and given that we're talking Amazon Prime): http://www.amazon.com/Barilla-Pasta-Rotini-Farfalle-Value/dp/B003N9HMQ0/ref=sr_1_34?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1419134819&sr=1-34&keywords=pasta

Pasta sauce: http://www.amazon.com/Barilla-Pasta-Sauce-Variety-Ounce/dp/B00FQGP20Q/ref=sr_1_47?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1419134819&sr=1-47&keywords=pasta

Parmesan cheese (because pasta!): http://www.amazon.com/Milanos-Parmesan-Cheese-Grated-Ounce/dp/B00B1OWX2M/ref=sr_1_9?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1419135159&sr=1-9&keywords=parmesan+cheese

There are lots of others; these are just thoughts. They're things you say you like, and honestly, I'd rather buy them than Pringles (for one thing, they are much more yummy.) Let me now if you update it; in any case, happy holidays1

C/O me at 32 bottles of Nutella, each one is individually pc'ed by amazon at $8.99 http://www.amazon.com/Nutella-Hazelnut-Spread-Ounce-Plastic/dp/B0005Z6ZK4

Lowest price on Amazon is $0.43/ounce

Google says there's 640,000 ounces in 20 tons.

640,000 x $.43 = $275,000

Where's this $80k value coming from?

u/postemporary · 1 pointr/todayilearned

> Nocilla

It's almost exactly the same thing, except it has a mix of palm oil and sunflower seed oil. In fact, it has less hazelnuts per ingredient rankings.

https://www.amazon.com/Nocilla-Chocolate-Hazelnut-Spread-200/dp/B0015QSJQK

https://www.amazon.com/Nutella-Hazelnut-Spread-Ounce-Plastic/dp/B0005Z6ZK4?th=1

I'd believe you if you said it tasted better, though.

Does Amazon not ship there?

If not, you could try MyUS.com or borderlinx.com for the shipping.

5 pack of nutella, the ladies in your dorm will love you.

u/RosieRose23 · 1 pointr/loseit

Have you seen these?. Its 200 some calories, but wouldn't be a bad weekly treat/Nutella fix, and that way you don't have a whole jar in the house. They sell them at our Walmart.

u/Travis100 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You do have some pretty practical things on your wish. I'll try to keep my choices under $75 in case you really want something, that way you can buy it right away (or even buy a few things at one time)!

  1. This Pillow can be very important for you if you really need a new pillow and/or don't sleep well at night. New, comfy pillows can really help with staying cool, clean, and comfortable at night.

  2. This Laptop Cooler also seems very important. If your laptop does get very hot, or you can't use it on your lap, then you need this! This cooler/stand/lap thing will really help as your laptop will stay cool, last longer, run faster, and you can use it on your lap and on the go!

  3. Rechargeable Battereis are always very important as they save time, money, and the earth! You don't have to buy batteries all the time, you can have new batteries ready all the time, and you don't have to throw batteries away when they die!

  4. Got to have some NSFW fun every once in a while

  5. Nutella... That's all I have to say

  6. Music is very important. It is always good to have a decent pair of ear buds so you can always relax, jog, bike, clean, or do anything to music!

I may add more stuff to the list, but you get the point! Go for important, but also fun, stuff!

Surprise me and pick anything from my wishlist! :D
    Go Ben
