This company has multiple products like this, they definitely know.

u/wescotte · 13 pointsr/Vive

Step 0: Obtain a 2016 (model SM-R323) GearVR. The 2017 model will work too as it has the same lens but the 2016 is generally cheaper to purchase. The 2015 model has different lens and won't work with the adapter.

Print two copies (just the adapterV3_2.stl file one for each eye) of adapter. If you don't have a printer you can use a service like 3D hubs. When choosing your print type pick PLA and resolution of 200 μm (or better). You can sort the list of printers by location and often find a local printer in order to get it faster and avoid the shipping fee.

Step 1: Remove GearVR lens. Refer to ifix it tear down guide for step by step instructions. You can also use this video for most of it. However, that's a different model GearVR so the actual last step is slightly different.

Step2: Remove Vive lens

Step3: Insert adapter without the GearVR lens attached.

Step4: Remove any dust/debris from screens. Shine a flashlight into the adapter hole and you'll be able to see if there is anything on the screens. Use a can of compressed air and a lens cleaning rag to remove dust/debris from display.

Step5: Clean the GearVR lens one last time and insert them into the adapter. The curved side should go down towards the display.

Step 6: (Optional) Update pre lens distortion settings more tuned for the GearVR lens using this guide

EDIT: Right now the adapters are still being refined and the lens distortion settings aren't very accurate and just tweaked by trial and error. Once we iron out all the details and finalize a good design I'm sure somebody (maybe even myself) will make a video tutorial on the entire process.

This is the permanent solution

I used to get random disk ejections twice a day on average. I tried tightening the screw and keeping the eject button away from surfaces but none of those worked.

Then I tried this. I haven't had a disk ejection in over a month since I did it. It prevented me from having to buy a new ps4 or a new disk drive from sony for ~$150 I think it was. It's a permanent solution. It's a little scary because it seems like you'll break something doing this but it 100% works.

You'll need a torx 8 security driver to open the main cover on the ps4. As well as a box cutting knife.

While you're in there you might as well use one of these to clean out your heat sink/fan after taking out the battery. I recommend you check this out to clean out on how to clean out your heat sink.

There. Two birds with one stone. You fixed your ejection button and you cleaned out your ps4 so now it's quieter and cooler.

Im glad you've woken up to the lies "big duster" has been spreading.

Air Dusters are perfect safe. FALSE.

90% of all compressors and dusting cans will spontaneously explode at least once within their product life cycle. The explosions can cause grievous injury to all organic and artificial life within the blast radius.

Canned Air is affordable at any budget. FALSE.

https://www.amazon.com/ULTRA-Duster-Canned-Pallet-100/dp/B00HZC0QAU/ref=sr_1_17?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1496986512&sr=1-17&refinements=p_36%3A1253507011
A Single pallet costs over $3,300. Since most of the distribution networks are based out of Peshawar province, you are literally funding terrorism every time you buy canned air.

After reviewing the product you purchased, I implore you to return and avoid using that product immediately. I am quoting directly from the product information page here: "The metal housing gets very hot in a matter of moments"

You know what else gets very hot in a matter of moments? EXPLOSIONS.

DO. NOT. FOR. ANY. REASON. TURN. ON. OR. ACTIVATE. THAT. DUSTER. PERIOD..

Best advice i can give you: Buy a mac. Once a Mac gets dirty, they are very easy to replace. There should be a local mac store within one to two hundred miles of your house and they take the dirty old computer and provide you with a clean replacement.

u/CogitoNM · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Get a Can of Air and spray the dust away. Make sure computer is unplugged and don't make the fans spin. Hold them with your finger while you spray the dust bunnies out of the heatsinks.

u/Lauren_Is · 3 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Compressed air like for cleaning keyboards and whatnot. Paint the tip of the straw with nail polish and aim at your nail (right side up or you can get a chemical burn). The farther away you are, the more splattery is it.

u/holyslot · 3 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

Do you have your phone in your pocket often? If yes, it could be that there is dust or fluff in there. Try to blow it out, if possible with an air spray(Something like this).

Had this problem once too and this solved it.

$7.99, stupid cheap. Plus you'll probably get a fps boost too. Currently your CPU is thermal throttling

u/noname001 · 3 pointsr/SonyXperia

You could use compressed air duster like this one

u/JP20Boss · 2 pointsr/titanfall

Is this happening with any other games? I asked before but I guess you missed it, heh. I'd suggest you download Speccy. You can use it to monitor the temperatures of components in your laptop. Play Titanfall windowed and watch your temperatures closely. If they reach a peak, your system will shut-off to prevent further damage to itself.

EDIT: Also, I'd recommend picking up a "can of air" like this. You can use it to do some dusting and clear out your PC's vents.

compressed air duster for cleaning it out. Take off the side of the case, blow the compressed air in in short spurts until the dust comes out. There are also electronic vacuums you can buy but these are cheap and effective. You can also buy these at any store like walmart/target/best buy/etc.

For monitor, it has a DVI, VGA, and the third connector looks like HDMI, so just get a monitor with HDMI or DVI and you'll be good.

get a typical usb keyboard and mouse

Any speakers will work, most of them come with 3.5mm connectors (same as typical headphones)

u/mojank · 2 pointsr/MechanicAdvice

> I always suggest DIY to do all the work but then have a shop do the evacuation and freon charge. THat way if they discover a problem they can recover the freon quickly and not just release it into the atmosphere.

I agree with this for logistical reasons, as its hard to charge accurately with cans. But just so you know R134A is sold as computer air duster, and freeze spray among other things. In that context releasing it into the atmosphere is normal and how its designed to be used. Not advocating you vent your car (its illegal & not great for the planet), but if it should happen its not any different than using a can of air duster.

PS. If you don't believe its the same chemical check the MSDS. Wikipedia.

u/FlugMe · 2 pointsr/oculus

I'd also recommend buying one of these https://www.amazon.com/Best-Elements-Non-toxic-Bitternt-Compressed-3-5-Ounce/dp/B01E4I5EX6/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1527141017&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=compressed+air&psc=1

There's a lot of dust in there, particular in the CPU heatsink, cleaning that out will increase cooling efficiency and lower fan noise.

u/iiij · 2 pointsr/WTF
u/JustSayNoToGov · 2 pointsr/24hoursupport

The smell is an additive to make people not want to huff it. YOu can get the same thing marketed as gun cleaner, which doesn't have the gross additives, at a small premium on Amazon.

EXAMPLE

u/johnjs · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Every three months or so should be adequate, depending on whether or not you filter your intake fans, own pets, etc. To get rid of dust, you can use compressed air, a handheld blower, an electric duster, etc. just to name a few tools. As for dust that isn't easily removed through air, you can use a a damp cloth / cotton swab to clean those (for example, dusty fan blades).

u/dogeatdawg · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Compressed air is great for clearing out dust.

Or isopropyl alcohol + a q tip to get the finer dust, but it'll take some time to clean it this way vs. the air. And if you do it this way, don't dump the card in the alcohol or pour alcohol over it, just soak the q tip (or paper towel) and then wipe off dust.

u/hansmoman · 2 pointsr/engineering

Bit of an anecdote but if you release R134A into the atmosphere from an AC system you'll can get slapped with up to $10k in fines. But many brands of compressed air duster are simply cans of R134A. It's perfectly legal in that application. Here is one such:

https://www.amazon.com/Fellowes-Duster-134A-Liquefied-10oz/dp/B005Q6FQGG

u/jazdk4 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Yeah bud, just something cheap. something like this works.

u/fourdots · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

If you're not having XoticPC repaste the CPU and GPU, you should do that yourself. A tube of cheap paste (that's still better than stock) is maybe $7, and the really good stuff is around $20. A can of compressed air with no bitterant (I use this stuff) is useful to have around for cleaning dust out, and you'll need a screwdriver to open the laptop up so that you can blow air into the heatsinks.

For the SSD, currently the Samsung 840 Evo or the Crucial MX100 are the top choices. The MX100 is ~$75 for the 128GB variant, the 840 Evo is ~$130. Just make sure that you're getting a standard 2.5" SATA SSD, either 7mm or 9.5mm high.

Some people suggest cooling pads with adjustable fans, so that you can point them directly at hot spots. But really, as long as there's enough air flow it doesn't matter that much.

Use something like this

Dust-Off DPSXL Disposable Duster - 10 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0025U3TQ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ofeTCbF03CHN9

You probably can find it like at wal mart ,Best Buy or somewhere similar also.

u/pixeltarian · 1 pointr/apple

Here's the comment you may be looking for:

  • Use a P5 Pentalobe Screwdriver to get the lower case off

  • Use canned air to blow the dust out of the back vents.

  • Don't use a vacuum, the static electricity might cause damage.

  • Hold the fan with your finger when blowing or you risk ruining the bearings in the fan.
u/Killerfist · 1 pointr/buildapc

Canned air? I have heard this few times on this subreddit but to be fair am ashamed I never have used one and never even heard about it before coming to this subreddit. It was something on my "To-do" list for researching and buying for the PC that I am planning to build.

You mean something like this?

https://www.amazon.de/Durable-579619-Druckgasreiniger-Powerclean-Druckgasspray/dp/B000NJXZ4G/ref=sr_1_1?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1526055619&sr=1-1&keywords=canned+air

Hello, Goodbye~. I've really been needing a new battery for my ancient Macbook. I can't afford a new laptop, so I'll have to replace the fully dead battery in the meantime. Fortunately, I still have a PC, but it could use some of these (presently out of stock @ Amazon, but you can still order them with Prime). Thanks for the contest!

u/endlesscartwheels · 1 pointr/TalesFromRetail

I use gun cleaner for my computer now. The product reviews for computer canned air recommended gun cleaner instead, because it doesn't have the bittering agent, so I switched to it.

u/motionglitch · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Fans, filters, heatsinks tend to get really dusty overtime. Clean them out. But never ever use a vacuum cleaner to clean it. Use this or if your really want to invest on a cleaner, this one

Both. But what's the poin of buying an unlocked processor if you're not going to overclock it? ;)

Yes, that's a better one

I've used this guy for a little while, and it's handy: http://www.amazon.com/O2-Hurricane-CA-02-Computer-Duster/dp/B006T5JQ9Q

Blows the dust away, no chance for a compressed air can "flash freeze" and it can be used multiple times.

OP must be super extra radical church high.

Oh lawd, people be chargin' for the air we breath!

u/DoctorOMalley · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'll recommend you use this Link to get some compressed air, then, if the mobo is really bad, turn off the PC and stick to your phone for the weekend unless absolutely necessary

u/Kawdie · 1 pointr/shadowofmordor

What mblmg said. You should ideally clean your computer of dust once a month or something. It gets itself stuck in there pretty good and playing with your GPU's heatsink full of dust can damage it.

You can buy Cans of Air which are relatively inexpensive and will last a fair few uses. Otherwise if you have a friend who has an air compressing unit it would also be great. Using a vacuum isn't recommended as the sucking power isn't strong enough (or if it is, it's dangerous to the system) to clean dust that has stuck hard.

u/agent674253 · 1 pointr/techsupport

You should use a compressed gas duster similar to one of these or an air compressor (and take the PC outside to blow it out; don't do it inside unless you like to be 'that guy').

People will say that you should only use an air compressor if it has a moisture trap/filter, but I like to live dangerously and go straight from the tank to the hose ;)

u/Mighty72 · 1 pointr/techsupport

Yep, your computer is overheating. Get some compressed air in a can and clean the insides. Specially your CPU cooler and your graphics card. But be careful, the air is really cold and can damage parts of your computer.

u/Skooman · 1 pointr/Justrolledintotheshop

There's also this.

u/Mememidas · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Lots of dust! Don't blow on it, because that will add moisture. Water and electricity don't work together. Get some compressed air, like this. That's pretty much it!

u/toothwoes123 · 0 pointsr/buildapc

Yeah except canned air is $11 where I'm from. A local DataVac is also $146 (white) here, and that's not even the ESD version (black) which is $183.

https://www.lazada.sg/products/metrovac-datavac-ed500-ed500esd-electric-duster-made-in-usa-i382712930-s902472505.html?

The only way I can get canned air for a reasonable price is to buy them from amazon in bulk, except I get slapped with stupid international shipping charges.

$220 international shipping charge after adding this to cart: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W72JTPD/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A38VKAMGGLK3QF&psc=1

$133 international shipping charge for this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DPW2SR2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1GEJZ8XPRZUHC&psc=1

I'll have to look through all the shipping options, possibly having to engage a third party forwarder in the US which is not cheap. Except I don't even know if they would actually ship compressed air for me because it's likely a prohibited item for shipping.

The only real options are to use that $15 electric blower (non-anti static), buy an amazon export set DataVac with no local warranty or to get rekt by $11/can compressed air.
