The Black Bibs. Was hoping I found that coveted cheap-but-good, but no, they're complete garbage. I've put about 600 miles into this pair and they're already essentially unusable, chamois totally worthless, sitbones aching like you wouldn't believe. Hey, at least they were only $40... and better than nothing when I miss laundry day, I guess, though only by a slim margin

Now, this thing... surprisingly good value, I assumed it would be Chinese crap but I bought it at the same time as the Black Bib and this one's still doing fine, some of the stitching isn't perfect but it's still in one piece and the chamois performs admirably on my weekly century. The leg openings have a raw silicone band which kind of sucks but it does the job and doesn't wear out --- unlike the Black Bibs, whose compression leg openings are already totally stretched out... can't emphasize how crap The Black Bibs turned out to be.

edit: oh wow this is a running forum lol

These would be fine, for short and medium rides. For longer rides, 2-3+hours, i prefer these... Bib Tights,Sponeed Men's Bike Shorts Bibs Pants Short with Padding L White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRCQ3N8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fhCxzbEZSJFXG

Pretty much all of my jerseys and shorts have come from amazon, and they have a great return policy for test fitting.

I have a few pairs of these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YQU22PQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like them. They're not amazing but they work.

I have a couple of bibs from Dinamik. Great chamois and fits well. Did a century with them last Saturday and had a comfy buttocks the whole way. Their shorts are really good too.

Jersey
Bib shorts not quite what I have but same brand.
Shoes are Specialized road shoes.
Socks are just Nike ankle socks.

I have a pair of Przewalski from Amazon. $30. Did a century in them with no problem. I like them better than the Pearl Izumi ones that I have which were twice the price. I also tried out a Performance Elite one and didn't like it at all. For the next pair I might try out The Black Bibs as I've heard good things about them.

I ride a 168mm saddle, I really like the Specialized RBX Comp bib and Baleaf bibs from Amazon are just as comfortable if not more so and same quality of construction.

I hope this help https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZBHB2P/ Their padded bibs.

Does not seem like Amazon Canada carries. The Baleaf's site links to that Amazon page.

To OP /u/SirNoodlesworth and you,

For Winter:

Thermal and Windproof jacket by Przewalski

Neck warmer, unless it's super duper cold, then try full Balaclava

Windproof gloves, and if you want extra padding, try Pearl Izumi from LBS. They're pricier, but may be worth it depending on your comfort tolerance levels.

For Florida/summer:

Best "cheap" bibs! Double stich and will handle lots of washes.

Comfy jerseys with high quality zipper (the zipper is usually the first thing to break on the cheapies).

For ladies, my wife loves these kits. Comfortable and durable.

I have a couple pair of these Przewalski https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HUNDFH4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GZ0EAb6QDC4Z8

Figured that for the price it was worth giving it a shot. The padding hits in the right spot and so far they have lasted without flaws. I picked them up last summer and they still feel new.

Recommendations for affordable bib shorts?

I'm eyeing these Pearl Izumi Escape Quest ones, curious if anyone has anything better to recommend?

I have a pair of these PI Quest bibs.

Pearl iZUMi Men's Escape Quest Bib Shorts, Black, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HPR12KM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DiKPzbJ9D4KJS

I check S M and L are all sub $50.

They are as I like to say, "delightfully average." I wouldn't spend more than about 2 hours in them though.

I hear that pearl izumi is a reputable one - should i get this one?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HOUWSGW/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=

though tbh that DHB one had really good reviews

I just bought this bib a few weeks ago and it feels amazing. They're only $40 too.

Normal price: 110. Deal price: 77

EDIT: You can paste the Amazon URL of a product on sale on camelcamelcamel.com to get an idea of the variance in the price.

I have one in mind for the bib shorts, but it is amateur level other than elite bib shorts. http://www.amazon.com/Baleaf-Mens-Padded-Cycling-Shorts/dp/B00YQU22PQ/

u/dshervy · 1 pointr/bicycling

Well you should order from Amazon to stay in that price range. Check these shorts out 1 or 2. I really recommned full bibs though because the shorts tend to move around, but I really don't know your preference with that. With that being said, if you live close enough to one of those bike shops just go in so you can try a pair on to know your size so you don't have to order multiple pairs online.

Newbie road cyclist riding a Giant Defy 5 with stock everything, and I'm dealing with saddle pain. I have a pair of Pearl Izumi Quest bibs (http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-Izumi-Quest-Short-Medium/dp/B008BZPVCI), and while they're an improvement over non-padded shorts, I feel like they (forgive my indelicacy) somehow shift things around so that I'm putting more pressure right on the crotch/perineum instead of on the sit bones. The experience varies - a couple days ago I did 20 miles with no pain, and today I started having pain within about 8 miles. I'm not sure if this has to do with my posture, the fit, the saddle, the shorts being cheap or the shorts just not fitting me well. Any advice?
