You can buy a vegan starter. I think they come in powdered form and it may come in plastic but you only have to buy it once (always keep a litter of your yogurt for the next batch) and you will save way more plastic in the future by not buying already made yogurt.
Here's one I found through amazon, but you can also try health stores or vegan friendly grocery stores.
But the best way is to find someone who already has a live culture yogurt and ask to have a little of it. I bet there's a place on the internet that helps you find local people to exchange yogurt cultures and sour dough starters with. And if there isn't we should make one.
Psst!
I believe that these are neither bread nor rusks, but a particular type of bread-shaped cracker.
Here's an example of what I mean.
I've had them before, but honestly they're nasty things and I certainly wouldn't feel inclined to seek them out again. They're pretty bad.
So this is gloop on top of crackers.
Ehh.
https://www.amazon.com/Gourmet555-Halloumi-Cheese-8-8oz/dp/B001TJKIQ2
Anyone have $20?
EDIT: Oh, and some for shipping...
Maybe try making your own? I've seen this at whole foods https://www.amazon.com/Cultures-Health-Starter-delicious-nutrient-dense/dp/B012PNMB7O
I make my own dehydrated boil in bag meals. I use THIS SITE as a template and just modify things as needed. I use a lot of powdered heavy cream, powdered eggs, powdered coconut milk, powdered cheese (all purchasable off amazon), instead of rice I dehdyrate cauliflower rice in my dehydrator.
It requires a bit of experimentation on your part since they don't translate 100% but I've made some good meals, bag tacos, butter chicken, fajitas, pizza casserole, buffalo chicken casserole, breakfast scrambles, cheeseburger casserole, etc. I've been playing around with the idea of trying to make a few keto cobblers.
Portion them out into quart freezer bags with smaller bags for spices/seasonings, when time comes to eat boil a bit of water, dump it in the bag and seal it up, let it sit for 10 minutes or so wrapped in a handkerchief or something then enjoy.
If you are dehydrating yourself you want to use LOW FAT meats. I know that's counter-intuitive for keto but high fat content foods won't dehydrate right, so use lean cuts, then add fat later (heavy cream powder, etc)
here's the DEHYDRATOR I use
Here is the HEAVY CREAM POWDER
COCONUT MILK POWDER
CHEESE POWDER
EGG POWDER
I've priced everything out and for a day's worth of meals I'm around 10 bucks or so, vs Mountain House which are 5-8 bucks a meal and the Next Mile meals keto offerings which can be 15 bucks PER meal
EDIT:
You can also bring mayo packets with you and I like bringing Individual Justin's Peanut Butter Packs also, great way to up the fat and to eat "quickly" between meals.
I dehydrate my own jerky as a snack, also you can hit Walmart and get single serve individual foil packs of tuna and spam, they work good as a quick meal without having to boil water.
> Cross between ice cream and butter.
holy fuck my arteries
Costco has these as well as these
I see. In that case, yes, you'll have to go with a protein source as the carrier. Sodium Caseinate is the most common, though I've actually tried a sample of oil spray-dried onto a rice protein carrier, and it turned out a lot better than I expected. When and if we make a complete, just-add-water hypoallergenic keto mix, we'd probably go with that.
If you're okay with dairy, though, why not just use a heavy cream powder instead? Too high in carbs?
I love Cello Whisps Pure Parmesan Cheese Crisps: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3MKFHX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_AaUAzb3FGEXWM
I usually buy them at costco, but looks like amazon sells them as well. Hard boiled eggs are also a nice on the go snack!
I got some dried full fat creamer, it tastes enough like the real stuff if you dissolve it in the coffee, but then I realized that I only like the cream when I am essentially making a desert drink.
Now I only drink coffee with cream/milk if I get a cortado from a shop, or poured on ice cream at home.
Heres a link to the Heavy Cream powder I had used. If you are in Baltimore Id be happy to give like half a pound away lol. They also make milk/butter but in my mind all of those are the same thing with just less butter fat in them

Oops, that should have said coconut MILK powder, not powdered coconut. This is a brand Ive used and liked: https://www.amazon.com/Native-Forest-Coconut-Powder-Ounce/dp/B00QIVB19Y. However I don't use it often so there might be tastier brands. And weirdly the coconut powder works better in coffee than coconut milk does. Creamier, less oily, etc.
I DONT recommend nut milks or their powders. Almond in coffer is gross. But you can try that too - some people like the taste and dislike coconut.
This is more or less just a PSA that parmesan cheese crisps make an excellent “guac vehicle”, a.k.a. tortilla chip substitute.
I buy these ones from Costco, and while they’re just small enough to be kind of annoying—I don’t have the patience to DIY them. I know I’ve seen recipes for this though. Maybe there’s a way to make them tortilla chip shaped too, idk.
You can use any guac recipe, for the record. This is what I call “guac for one”, but you can double the recipe as many times as you want. Adjust the avocado content to your personal macros. Also, really every ingredient here is “to taste”—if you like more, add more.
1 medium haas avocado - halved, pitted, and peeled
1 wedge of lime
1/8 medium onion - diced
1/4 roma tomato - seeded and diced
1 tsp fresh cilantro - finely chopped
1/3 clove fresh garlic - minced extremely finely, to a paste
sea salt - to taste
pepper - to taste
Put the avocado in a medium mixing bowl and mash the pulp. I like to leave it a little chunky, but you do you. Add salt and pepper to taste. I just use our tabletop shakers to avoid adding too much. Squeeze the wedge of lime to release some juice. Discard the wedge. Add fresh garlic paste. Mash the avocado again to combine. Fold in the onions, tomatoes, and cilantro.
You’re done. Enjoy with cheese crisps.
Guac:
26.8g fat
4.2g protein
7.1g net carbs
Parmesan Cheese Crisps (per 23 crisps):
10g fat
13g protein
1g net carbs
>You do realize they make powdered milk right? LMAO.
Powdered coconut milk needs to be dissolved in hot water, which you then can't combine with ice cream. LMAO.
https://www.amazon.com/Native-Forest-Coconut-Powder-Ounce/dp/B00QIVB19Y
Why wouldn't they just bring normal coconut milk?
>Yes its already on twitter and instagram. People were sipping these and throwing them.
Do you have links? I've only seen throwing, not sipping.
There's also the possibility they were making special batches. The powder still hasn't been explained.
I'm showing deals that are the historically lowest price (or very close to the lowest) it has been on Amazon, using the site camelcamelcamel.

Do not cook it. It might be ok on a burger, but it would be much better on crackers or those mini toasts (that's an insane price, btw, don't buy them from amazon). That, along with a salad and some hard sausage and/or cheese would make a wonderful cold full meal.
>coconut cream...do they mean like the coconut alternative to coffee creamer
Coconut Cream is canned and usually in the Asian food isle of most grocery stores. Here is an example of a can of it.
> pineapple extract readily available
I don't believe it is carried in many grocery stores but you should be able to find it at an Asian market.

I get coconut cream and cook it in seasonings garlic, pepper, onion, maybe some nutritional yeast flakes, and it tastes like cheese sauce, put it on errything.
To mix coconut oil into drinks like coffee emulsifiers are your friend. I recommend lecithin powder or flakes, it has some supposed health benefits on its own supposedly. Coconut cream usually has guar gum in it added, which is another emulsifier.

Leche de almendra, pack de 6 a 13,64 USD, así que 2,25 USD el litro
Thank you. I did look at the link on your blog but I was under the impression that true clotted cream was unpasteurized. I'll try it your way and see how it works. To my knowledge, unpasteurized dairy is illegal in the US, but I did find this on Amazon so maybe we can get it.
This seller on Amazon.
>Sounds like you work with sexist people. Also, I doubt people are as intolerant as you believe.
People are exactly as intolerant as I believe - no more and no less.
I actually had to get a job in another state (gotta love the age of computers for lots of reasons - working virtually in another state) because I burned my bridges in this town - by arguing that men should get paternity leave the way women should get maternity leave. I honestly thought that was pretty noncontroversial.
>So what's your solution? Make a law that requires everyone to accept your opinion? Oh, wait, this is already what activist feminists are doing...making their opinion the law.
Barring businesses from discrimination, because that's the way towards the most freedom. It's not perfect, but barring discrimination was a good act in the face of oppression.
>In apartheid Africa, in many residential areas that were required by law to forbid blacks, the number of blacks outnumbered whites.
Not sure how that proves who's "winning".
>Also, the entire North is a case study.
Let's try discriminating communities in the south vs nondiscriminating communities in the south. Otherwise we might as well compare Beijing and Tehran for all the sense it makes.
>What about them? A company was buying from people, and those people did bad things in order to sell to them. They then stopped selling to them. I don't see anywhere that the employees of the company were murdering people.
As I said - they hire out. It's essentially the same thing, but you get one step in between so you're not technically guilty by law and can plead ignorance.
>I'm skeptical, however, purely because I couldn't find any evidence of it outside your comment.
https://ilsr.org/walmart-charged-predatory-pricing/
>In September, Wal-Mart was hit with three separate charges of predatory pricing. Government officials in Wisconsin and Germany accused the retailer of pricing goods below cost with an intent to drive competitors out of the market. In Oklahoma, Wal-Mart faces a private lawsuit alleging similar illegal pricing practices.
>The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection filed a complaint with an administrative law judge accusing the retailer of violating the state’s antitrust law. The complaint says Wal-Mart sold butter, milk, laundry detergent, and other staple goods below cost in stores in Beloit, Oshkosh, Racine, Tomah, and West Bend. The company intended to force other stores out of business, gain a monopoly in local markets, and ultimately recoup its losses through higher prices.
I don't live in Wisconsin, btw.
>If you've noticed this trend, once a new grocery store appears, why not just boycott the Wal-Mart, since you already know it's going to just up the prices?
I do. Most people don't.
>Maybe put up a website or run a local ad regarding it? Why doesn't the new grocery store advertise this history in order to draw customers, something like "Unlike Wal-Mart, we won't increase our prices once the competition leaves!"
Yeah they've tried that. People still go for the lower prices.
>Then the situation at Wal-Mart isn't bad enough for you to move. That's your choice. Why is that Wal-Mart's fault?
Because they're engaging in predatory pricing, which is against the law, and would be prosecuted if the state had any balls.
>Ah, so the majority are willing to pay more, and so the prices are more expensive. Yay for basic economics?
That is economics, yes. The strong beat out the weak and then prey on the consumer.
>Also, does Amazon not ship to your location? You can buy groceries online, and for cheap. It's why they bought Whole Foods, and have plenty of other suppliers. Why don't you?
I'm glad you brought up Amazon. Wal-Mart's predatory pricing on nonperishable goods has been broken thanks to amazon. You can order things and have them shipped in. Which I generally do.
However, for perishable items...
https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-Sweetz-2-Milk-Gallon/dp/B077T4C2WF/ref=sr_1_11_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1526940382&sr=1-11&keywords=milk
$20 is quite a lot for a gallon of milk, even by price gouging wal-mart standards.
>My choice is between benevolent tyranny or corrupt tyranny? Sorry, no. The entire history of the United States disproves this.
Those are your choices in this instance, yes. Economics is not some benevolent force for good. It merely is a thing that exists. The preferences of the actors drive the preferences of the economy.
If those preferences are racist, the economy will react accordingly. If they are sexist, the economy will react accordingly.
Kefir feels great! I drink it every day unless I'm fasting, and sometimes I'll even monomeal kefir for lunch. There are days I go without, and it's missed, but physiologically there are no issues..
I bought my grains on Amazon and am most satisfied. Grains woke up quickly, had no problem with raw milk, and came with instructions, small plastic sifter, and plastic lid for standard size Mason jar.

Amaretto Creamer for mom?
I found a recipe to basically make butter sauce, apparently. Pic.
It was something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Whirl-Butter/dp/B00C9Z9N34/
Amazon has it.
Ooh, I’ll check them out, thanks! My go-to chip swap is the Whisp crackers in Parmesan cheese. We get them at Costco for cheap. The other flavors are good, too, but Parmesan is addictive. I eat them plain, with dip, and crushed on salad. Sometimes I make Parmesan crisps myself, too, but these are just their own delicious version. They have 1g carbs and 150 calories for 23 chips, which is a really generous portion.

If you're looking for a powder solution, you should consider Garden of Life products, like their [Raw Meal Replacement]
(http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Organic-Chocolate-Powder/dp/B00CLD71X8?ie=UTF8&keywords=B0031JK95S%7CB0031JK96C%7CB007S6Y6VS%7CB007S6Y74O%7CB007SYSQ7K%7CB007SYT7LO%7CB00CLD71X8%7CB00CLD728C%7CB00CLD72GO%7CB00CLD7354%7CB00CLD74U8%7CB00CLD74VC%7CB00CLD74WQ%7CB00GV8GIDI%7CB00R06N59K%7CB00R06N6DK%7CB00R06N7BG%7CB00R06N8G0%7CB01A7N9KPK%7CB01A7OCSRG%7CB01A9IFE8K%7CB01ABWFJIE&qid=1464677779&ref_=sr_1_10_a_it&sr=8-10). It's a little cheaper than Soylent, and if you mix it with Orgain Unsweetened Vanilla + Protein, you'll have your protein and basic vitamins covered. You can add the superfood powders you mention, complex carbs like grains or simpler carbs as fruits. Personally, I wouldn't do it that way, but as you said, it would be better than a lot of people's diets these days. IMO, Soylent's missing more than the things you'd add and shouldn't really be considered a full food replacement.

Used one at Chick-fil-A. They used an oil-based substitute; rather than raw, off the shelf, sticks of butter.
I wouldn't recommend using sticks of butter if you plan on using it a lot.
Example... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C9Z9N34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LzGhDbYW0D8BA
Whisps are good, I think, and they have 0 net carbs, which is also good:

Amazon prime (which I have) supports same day in many areas, next day in some, and they have both powdered and shelf stable milks. (edit: as an example, https://smile.amazon.com/Natrel-Whole-Milk-Ounce-Pack/dp/B0748DYQT6/ has prime one-day shipping) And anyways, even shelf stable foods are better than being hungry. If you go the Amazon wishlist route, please make sure to follow the directions in the sidebar to set your address correctly.
If you have a Trader Joe's nearby their marshmallows are vegan (they are rebranded Dandies, I believe). Their Sipping Chocolate was also dairy free, but I think it's discontinued. :(
Guittard Grand Cacao Drinking Chocolate. Guittard is my favorite grocery store chocolate brand.
It is also really easy to make yourself, if you're into that.
Basic Hot Cocoa Mix: whisk together 1 cup good cocoa powder + 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar + 1/2 teaspoon salt
Next Level Hot Cocoa Mix: 1 cup good cocoa powder + 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar + 1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips + 1 teaspoon vanilla powder; pulse in food processor until chocolate is in small bits
Mocha Hot Cocoa Mix: add 1-2 tablespoons instant espresso powder to mix
Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix: add 3 tablespoons well crushed candy cane or peppermint hard candies to mix
Pumpkin Spice Hot Cocoa Mix: add 2 teaspoons pumpkin spice to mix (or 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon each ginger, nutmeg, cloves, allspice)
Mexican Hot Cocoa Mix: add 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne to mix
Recommend mixing with plain unsweetened soy or cashew milk.
To make it 'instant' for mixing with hot water, add 2 cups coconut milk powder to the mix.
Are you talking about those little jars? Not a fan.
We've found that marscapone will do in a pinch when I make fresh scones.
unsweetened coconut milk is what I use. This kind: https://www.amazon.com/Thai-Kitchen-Organic-Coconut-13-66/dp/B003VYIZT0
or you can get the cream version, which I bought but have not tried yet:
