At least it's flat, and it can be washed. The actual food looks pretty good too. I still can't help but think this would look better on a plate though. Even if you wanted to keep the shape and contrast, it takes less than a minute to find something on Amazon

Well, it's not like you never pay for the essentials. The water heater in my house failed last Monday and I had to pay nearly $2K to have a new one installed (water heater + bring water & gas lines up to code, because the home's previous owner did some "creative" DIY).

But I also still had the disposable income this week to order some pretty new dishes for myself (ordered this set x2 so I could have service for eight). And a new plush blanket. And a nice dinner out with friends last Friday night. And some books and Blu-ray movies.

So, no. You can be a grown-up and not have to pay for only essentials.

I think these are nice or I absolutely love these or even these I hope you find a new set! I too have trouble throwing things away that were a gift, it just seems wrong but if you don't talk to the person anymore I would get rid of it too.

I don't know for sure, but given who we're talking about, it seems pretty coincidental that there are sets from Gordon Ramsey's collections that look awfully similar to both.

These, I dig the squares and bonus neat colors.
These have a nice pattern but they are very bold, not everyone is down with that.
Personally, I like these and these but that's more to my taste, YMMV :)

Oh gosh, moving is such a big job. I hope you're at least looking forward to it, or upgrading yourself into this house. Hrm. So it's a completely blank slate. That's actually really exciting! You'll definitely need somewhere to sit, and this chair seems comfortable and high quality for a price that isn't too difficult to justify, if it's one of your primary living room pieces. And to go along with it, this end table has a really cool design, and looks functional to boot. It's not all that expensive! Corelle dinnerware sets are seriously the best, and I'm in love with this one. Also, this one is cheaper and a lot of fun.

It looks like the original came with a different design for the salad plate, does your set have bamboo salad plates or just a smaller version of the same design for the salad plate?

The smiley face one is manufactured by JSCo. I found one used mug on EBay.

The brown one is part of the Hometrends Bazaar series. It is available at Walmart and Amazon but the search results typically show it as part of a set. Hopefully you can get just the cup.

I really love this set ... I really like the square style of plates and dishes - they are just very visually appealing - and the black red and white is just very attractive to me.

However if you like blue and more traditional - These are pretty

So...I kind of super really need this. I took it off highest priority because we got some paper plates that we can make do with...but honestly, we need them.
