My babies 6 months and she finally has a nursery now that we moved into our own place.

I’m so lucky to have had so many people offer hand me downs and gifts to help fill her nursery! We’re a young couple just starting off and to see how many people wanted to pitch in was really incredible.

Changing table and diaper pail were both given to me by my moms neighbor.

Crib/mattress and bedskirt were shower gifts. The sheets were hand me downs.

Some of the stuff is my own baby stuff my mom saved. The music boxes were mine, some of the books and the Madeline dolls as well as a couple stuffed animals.

Things I bought:

Dresser I found free on FB marketplace! I’m thinking of painting it light blue but still haven’t gotten to it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Twin bed frame I also found on FB marketplace for $25. I sometimes sleep in there with her if she’s having a tough night. This room also doubles as a guest bedroom for. The mattress and comforter were somethings my mom had saved.

The rainbow polka dot wall decals were an amazon find! $7 Love how they brighten up the room in our all white apartment.

The rug I found at home goods on sale for $40!

The “r” above her bed was another homegoods find for $8

The tassel dream catcher $10 on amazon

It is your position that roughly one percent of Native American DNA substantiates a claim to be Native American? This is exactly why many Native Americans are upset. They are tired of white people staking a claim on Native American identity based on the most tenuous familial connection.

>I consider that her business.

Many Native Americans disagree. Considering that white people have tried to eradicate their culture, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Dance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Indian_boarding_schools)

have stolen their land (https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2015/01/18/368559990/broken-promises-on-display-at-native-american-treaties-exhibit http://avalon.law.yale.edu/subject_menus/ntreaty.asp),

and have disrespected and commercialized their culture (https://www.amazon.com/Handmade-American-Catcher-Feathers-20-22inch/dp/B071ZNMFR2 https://www.costumesupercenter.com/categories/historical-native-americans),

I think they are well within their rights to take a position on this.

How to stop 1/2" thin strips of quilting cotton from fraying?

Here's the deal. I made several quilts and baby blankets for my very-soon-to-be-incoming grandchild. I have leftover 100% cotton print fabric that I would like to use in my DIY mobile that will hang over the crib.

This will only be in use for a few months, the strips of cloth are more for movement/texture to go along with the foam roses I've bound in a hoop, the fabric will be well out of reach. I can't really find anything online that is a good example of what I'm picturing, but something like this dream-catcher on Amazon but without the feathers.

I can't quite figure out how to get narrow strips of fabric and keep the edges from fraying and shedding over the crib. I'm trying to use the fabric I have so it matches, and to save money, so I don't want to go buy adhesive or anything I don't have... if I have to spend money I'd rather save the time and just buy ribbons. I have a machine and plenty of matching thread.

Anyone have any suggestions?

  • This is KickthePJ and his song that makes me really happy. I'm not 100% sure how it does this for me. I hope you find some solace in it, too.
  • Deadpool always make me laugh and I'm quite fond of dreamcatchers. They've saved many a night for me. Your choice. :3
  • Here's a little advice: I used to date an asshole like this. He blew everything out of proportion. Whenever I tried to discuss something, he thought I was picking a fight or guilt tripping him. He just didn't understand having talks about feelings. The way I dealt with it was to try talking to him about it. To try to make him see that when I want to discuss something that happened--an event, something that made me sad, a lack of communication, etc...--wasn't a ploy to guilt trip him or make him feel bad. It was just a way to communicate how I felt and encouraged him to do the same.

EDIT: If you need to talk. I'm all ears.

Diary of a Madman probably best describes my relationship with him. Funny how I still love and miss him, though.
