Personally, I think you're better off putting the tom on a snare-style stand. I use and like this one alot: Tama The Classic Series Single Tom Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078YC1GL4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_n1YhDbMJA6CXW. I find mounting a tom off a cymbal stand to be cumbersome. You have a lot more flexibility with just using a low profile snare stand with a flat base like the one above.

If you're dead set on mounting off a cymbal stand: It depends on the mounting system on the tom. Different rim or shell mounting systems have different size parts so you'd want to confirm what type you have. The Tama multi clamp works really well, and is very solidly built. It came with my Starclassic kit and, while I don't use it, I tried it.

As for cymbal stands, you'll want anything double braced and with a boom arm. Otherwise, your cymbal will be hanging directly over the tom and it will be hard to get a good angle to hit the tom. Also, make sure you arrange the legs of the stand in a way that you have one directly below the Tom, supporting it, so the whole thing doesn't tip over. Hope that helps
