Sorry, wanted to add something, then just ended up collating information I'd read years ago. Leaving this comment so I can find it later anyway.

Oh Joy Sex Toy did a comic about anal cleanliness, but I think it's not great advice. Most medical sources will recommend against doing full enemas like that. This vice article summarises and mentions the medical recommendation: a small amount of water. Good LGBT resources sometimes recommend using the ear bulb syringes you can buy for blocked ears. Although, different people will recommend either doing nothing or taking the head off a shower hose and putting it two inches up your butt, because that's just how sex education works I guess?

No way I'm using that for my patients.

Also in link that has been posted here you can read in the description of the product:

> Pack of Ten (10) - Individually Wrapped - Hypodermic Syringes

Also if you wanna go cheap, go bulk.

Iodine compounds are effective disinfecting agents but are not used IN the wound. They are used ON intact skin prior to surgery or to prep an area prior to a procedure. Your best bet is sterile saline solution under pressure - essentially squirting the wound. We use large syringes to forcefully irrigate the wound which cleanses it, dislodging debris and germs. Use gravity to drain the saline off and do it over a sink or bath tub - don't worry about a bit of fresh bleeding. Repeat several times and if you are not allergic to antibacterial ointment, place that on the wound and cover it.

Edit: Here saline comes in a can saving the need for a syringe.

I use this in the shower.

> a drop of ammonia

I've generally used sbrebrown's recipe of 90% water 10% ammonia, drop of soap. Are you using super-concentrated ammonia?

> One of those bulb things that are used to suck baby snot is perfect to shoot water through a nib & section

a bulb syringe. They do make cleaning a lot easier.

OP, you probably want to soak the gunky pens to get the ink out - but as ullalauridsen said, post pictures of the pens. Some of the vintage pens shouldn't be soaked 'cause you'll cause discoloring or (in rare cases) dissolve the pen-body.

I use one of these types of bulb (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hand-Bulb-Ear-Syringes-85/dp/B000LX4L4M) to spray warm water into my ear once every 3 months or so and find it does the trick to remove the ear wax. If yours is particularly thick or compacted you can drop medical grade olive oil in your ears for a week before which softens it up making it easier to remove. Probably safer in the long run.

I use a bulb syringe to shoot warm water into my ear canal. I hold a paper cup underneath my earlobe to catch the water and also hold my head over the sink. The combination of pressure and warm water does the trick. It sometimes takes ten or more applications per ear to loosen the wax buildup.

I am a musician, and suffer from tinnitus. I use ear plugs every day. Over time, earplugs compact wax into your ear canal. It is necessary to clean them regularly. My doctor uses this method on me as well, and is very adamant about never putting objects like Q-tips in your ears.

Something which looks a bit like this.

u/Mantis_Pantis · 2 pointsr/funny

For the love god, guys please, DON'T USE Q-TIPS TO CLEAN YOUR EARS, YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR EAR DRUMS. The q-tips push the ear-wax deep into your ear canal, and the build up of pressure / you pushing on them will damage your ear drum. Instead, use the simple, safe, cheap tool that exists to clean your ear wax: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FPEDHA. Or, if you want to enter the closest thing to nirvana short of taking actual drugs, go to your local doctor, and ask the nurse to perform an "ear lavage", where they will use this on you (www.amazon.com/Ear-Syringe-Metal-4-oz/dp/B0008G1ZRS/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2), you'll feel a tingle down your spine, and your foot will kick involuntarily.

I checked out a bunch of DVDs from the library to watch (I don't subscribe to any streaming services.) I also went grocery shopping for three weeks worth of groceries, and stocked up on microwavable meals. Normally I'm not a big fan of them, but they made cooking for myself easier when moving around was difficult. You're not really going to feel like cooking actual meals for yourself for a couple weeks at least.

Youll need lube. Lots and lots of lube. I ordered small bottles of a few different kinds until I figured out what I liked, then ordered big bottles of that. Pro tip: Astroglide and KY are probably two of the worst water-based lubes out there. My fave is Slippery Stuff Gel because it doesn't contain glycerin (and thus doesn't get sticky), and it's still pretty cheap. You can get [16oz bottles](Slippery Stuff Gel, 16 oz. Bottle with Pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFQLV42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LpNpDb7365Y8F) for about $15, and 2-packs of the 16oz, or [32oz bottles](Slippery Stuff Gel, 32 oz. Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFRXJMH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xrNpDb1NRMEPN) for about $23 on Amazon. Sliquid Sassy is great too, but it's expensive. For stuff available at the grocery store, the Good Clean Love brand is good.

Get wet wipes. Wiping down below, whether front or back, is sore and uncomfortable. Wet wipes make it much less unpleasant. Just remember to never flush them, not even the supposed "flushable" ones. They clog plumbing.

If they recommend douching, buy one of the reusable douche bulbs on Amazon. I have [this one](Bulb Syringe Luxury CARA 28 Size: Luxury https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012JZVIO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_voNpDbHBS1DJJ) and it works great.

You'll need pads, but don't buy a ton, and don't buy thick maxis. You aren't going to be bleeding nearly as much as you might be assuming. I'd suggest just buying one box of 50 ultra thin pads, the smallest (number 1) size should still be big enough for everyone for this use. After a couple weeks your bleeding should be light enough that you can switch to panty liners, which are really thin and far less uncomfortable than even ultra thin maxi pads. Get a couple packages of the longer panty liners first, and then once your bleeding and discharge is mostly gone you can switch to the smaller size if you want (panty liners are a lot smaller than regular pads all the way around, so the sizes don't translate. You'll still be bleeding and healing up to your clitoral area, which is why you'll want the long or extra-long liners.) You can get packages of the long or extra-long Carefree liners for under $2 at most grocery stores.

I only had an issue once over 20 years ago, but back then I used one of these, https://www.amazon.com/Hand-Bulb-Ear-Syringes-oz/dp/B000LX4L4M, and warm water. It's essentially what the doc uses too.

u/mr_dlm · 1 pointr/tonsilstones

I know some have had success with this.

Eh not really, people say to lay down for a bit after but I've never really HAD to do that to make sure it stays in..just dont be running around doing jumping jacks and you should be fine lol. I still clench pretty hard after just in case but never really had a problem with it coming out. That being said though your body could be different so for maybe the first time you plug just lay down/on your side for a bit so it can absorb and see how your body reacts. After that though I wouldn't really worry about it.

Personally I do the method where your back is on the chair or whatever with your booty straight up in the air, not the most comfortable but it works as a position to do in the bathroom. The other easier one is if you lay on your stomach or your side, but that might have more of a chance of coming out.

Here's a link of the thing I use https://www.amazon.com/ROSENICE-Suction-Syringe-Washing-Laboratory/dp/B078Z53XY2/ref=asc_df_B078Z53XY2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=242003539383&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7011981806047163367&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1027595&hvtargid=pla-634302576877&psc=1

Though it may not be the BEST since you usually get a lot of air in your anoos too but that's not really a big deal tbh (for me at least)

Oh and for anyone in my position 3 months ago with impacted wax, ALWAYS leave it to a doctor, 999/1000 they'll know what they're doing and won't worsen or cause your T. Take this as living proof to AVOID home syringes like this at all costs. Even in the states where its costly, use ear drops, bulb syringes, pay for private or just leave it to fall out. A quick fix isn't worth the risk of ruining your life permanently despite careful use. Wish someone had told this to me
