Thanks for the response, and clarification. It's pretty clear I'm no electrical engineer, heh. So, I don't have the original battery anymore, however, I can link you to the single teardown post I came across (on facebook of all places) that has a couple images of the battery and board wires: Sound Blaster E5 Teardown
In the second image, the three black, yellow, and red wires go directly to the battery pack. And in the third image, it's hard to see, but those wires go directly into the battery in the upper right. If you can't see the pictures for whatever reason, I can save them and re-upload them somewhere.

So far, I haven't been able to find a pinout diagram for that battery, or the nook battery connector that it's for, so I guess I'll need to figure out what's what on my own.

And yes, I wouldn't have minded a higher capacity battery, but this is the only one I could find that will fit in the battery compartment. Space is really tight in the Sound Blaster.

So I guess the next question then, is what the third wire in the sound blaster is for, and if it needs to be connected for everything to work properly... As it stands, the unit doesn't work at all without a battery hooked up, even when plugged in. When turned on, it tries to start charging the battery, and I assume get power or some information back to continue working, but now that there's no battery, it just goes into a cycle loop and shuts off.
