It was recommended on here a few months ago and Im so happy I got it. Love this group. Its called Pageturnerz from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WZ1DRH2?ref=myi_title_dp If you have any hand pain or want a better grip on your Kindle I really recommend it.

u/akashik · 10 pointsr/kindle

I have the leather case on mine so it automatically turns off when I close the cover. I usually charge my Paperwhite every few weeks.

u/[deleted] · 9 pointsr/kindle

The default Amazon case is nice and rigid, with a magnetic clasp - it's one of the better cases I've had for a device in a long while.

u/cornmonkey · 9 pointsr/kindle

Not sure if you have bad experiences with Kindle "Special Offer" editions in the past, but if not I would HIGHLY recommend you get that one instead. Not only are they cheaper, Amazon has been known to push through their own exclusive deals via Special Offer Kindles.

If I remember correctly, there have been discounts on their gift cards, steep prices cuts on electronics such as other Kindles and TVs, or more recently a Chromebook that went for $50 (I think).

I'm definitely going to preorder a Voyage. But I'm waiting on a case similar to this one.

u/wlu56 · 7 pointsr/kindle

i believe its the Amazon Kindle Lighted Leather Cover click here!

u/Jay_Normous · 6 pointsr/kindle

Have you taken a look at the official Amazon cover? I've had mine for about 2 years now and it's fantastic. The 'leather' is starting to wear down on the corners but it doesn't really bother me.

u/52Hzwhale · 6 pointsr/kindle

Are you using Amazon's non-lighted leather cover? There's a known problem with the old design (although they claim they've fixed it with the updated design). My Kindle keyboard froze and rebooted repeatedly until I removed the cover. I think the problem was that the clips that hold the Kindle contact the electronics inside and cause a short. Amazon upgraded me to the lighted cover for free, and I haven't had a problem since.

u/Weather · 6 pointsr/kindle

That's exactly what I did. I used to be all-in on jailbreaking my Kindle Keyboard to do everything from changing the screensavers to running Duokan, but once I upgraded to the Paperwhite, along with getting that cover that auto unlocks (the third-party ones work for this as well, at least the one that I got), I lost all interest in jailbreaking.

Get the official amazon case...it's great. http://amzn.com/B007R5YFS4

Then pickup a cheap neoprene sleeve with it. http://amzn.com/B005KELR3A

What you have created is a otterbox-like case for it....a hard rigid shell surrounding the PW protecting it from bends, etc. and then a soft absorbent case surrounding the hard rigid case which protect it from falls, bashes, etc.

I have this setup and couldn't be more happier. I have the exact same cases linked above...the official PW case fits nicely, but a little snuggly, into the Belkin neoprene case.

If you're going to be in a wet environment, pickup some desiccants to help with the moisture issue, and use them with the PW case - maybe in a ziploc bag or smaller pelican bag/box. http://amzn.com/B00967JFMM

A word of caution about moisture: What you do not want to do is expose the device to a very moist/humid environment, and then shove it back in a waterproof/etc. bag. You need a way to get rid of the moisture - putting it in a waterproof pelican bag is basically creating a small greenhouse, because the moisture has no way to escape. Your stuff will be "dry" but it will never feel 100% dry. Electronics will suffer tremendously. This is why I suggest the desiccants. Keep a ton of them, and replace them often. Store them separately, in multiple bags (large ziploc bag, then smaller ziploc bags with 1-2 desiccants each). This way when you need 1-2 you only have to expose a small number of them to the environment. Put one wherever your most precious gear is...so in the bag your PW is in, your socks/underwear, maps, etc. They will absorb the moisture but need to be changed probably 1-2 times a day depending on how wet/humid the environment is. Read up on compartmentalization of your gear for your trip, and Good Luck!

The lack of buttons is not a big deal to me. I switched from a Kindle 4 to a Paperwhite 2 a few months ago, and haven't missed them at all.

With a touchscreen, the general interface is a lot better than the non-touch devices, and I also prefer the touchscreen for turning the pages. With the Kindle 4/5 the page turn buttons are very thin and right at the edge of the device - it was easy to turn the page accidentally, and awkward to use if you had the device in a case.

What I would miss though, is the Paperwhite's light.

To be honest, I ended up not using my first Kindle nearly as much as I thought I would because I never had the right lighting for it, and the lighted cases were terrible.

Since buying the Paperwhite I'm reading probably an hour or two a day now - and more importantly, have continued to do so, because the screen is always bright and easy to read whether you're in bed at night or just aren't near a bright light that's suitable for reading with.

Even in a bright room, the light helps make the page appear whiter. (hence the name "Paperwhite")

The higher resolution screen is nice too, but not a deal-breaker - especially if you use Amazon's own fonts. I do like to use custom fonts though, which do look better on the higher resolution display.

Here are some photos I took when my Paperwhite 2 arrived, in a moderately bright room:

  • Kindle Paperwhite (light on)
  • Kindle Paperwhite (light off)
  • Kindle 4
  • (bonus iPad Air)

This is using a custom font, but if you look at the A's and y's the lower resolution of the Kindle 4 is noticeable. With the built-in fonts like Caecilia, or at larger font sizes, it's less noticeable, but I do still prefer reading on the higher resolution screen.

Especially if this is your first e-reader, I would urge you to spend/save the extra $40 for the Paperwhite model rather than the basic Kindle. You won't regret it.
u/curney · 5 pointsr/kindle

Get yourself one of these and it'll be twice as good. I just got one and I love it. Perfect holder case. PageTurnerz 5-in-1 Grip Case for Paper White 10th Generation eReader - (2019 - Current Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WZ1DRH2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I8AFDbSG54YQH

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Case, Onyx Black - fits all Paperwhite generations https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007R5YFS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GrnhzbZQB7KFB

I like this a lot! I was able to get it stupid cheap a few years ago.

u/zobger · 5 pointsr/kindle

I have the Oasis 2 which has the same aluminium frame as the 3 and yeah it's slippery. I've dropped it a few times.

Ended up getting this TPU cover and it's great:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791BBNKV

Think it will fit the Oasis 3 as well since the dimensions are very close to the 2.

u/nermal543 · 5 pointsr/kindle

Here's my ideal Kindle wishlist!

  • Voyage update (I have the original and I love it!)

  • Waterproof

  • Blue light filter (for bedtime reading)

  • Slightly bigger screen

  • Physical page turn buttons

  • Better system for managing Collections of books

  • A nice official case similar to the Paperwhite ones like this - I have the Voyage and I like the Origami case I'm using, but I'd really prefer an official case similar to the Paperwhite one

  • I'd like a larger bezel actually, I think it makes it more comfortable to hold the Kindle (more room to put your fingers without covering the screen!)
u/datahoarderprime · 5 pointsr/kindle

I much prefer this fabric cover - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079BG3LQF/

u/blackesthearted · 4 pointsr/kindle

The new Paperwhite is considered 10th gen . The email I got about the KU offer reads,

> Thank you for purchasing a new Kindle Paperwhite (10th Generation). This purchase has earned you a promotional offer of 6 months of Kindle Unlimited for FREE. Terms and conditions can be found below.

And it's in the listing for the official cover.

u/Jacob2040 · 4 pointsr/kindle

You an find warehouse deals if you look closely. I got mine there and nothing was really wrong, just go for like new if you're worried. (also did a search for you just in Case.

u/RobbStark · 4 pointsr/kindle

I have the official Amazon cover for my Paperwhite and it's actually much easier to operate and hold in one hand. Most of that is because it's smaller, thinner and lighter. The case is also quite nice, as the entire body of the Kindle fits into it snugly rather than being attached with metal clips on the side like my old Kindle Keyboard.

As for the touch screen: fear not, for I had the exact same concern. I was worried the lack of physical buttons would be annoying. Turns out that using your thumb to tab the screen is very easy, perhaps even more convenient and reliable than the physical buttons on the Keyboard. There's plenty of bezel on the Kindle and the case its own to let me hold on without accidentally touching the screen, as well.

u/lizcat · 3 pointsr/kindle

I've only ever used 3rd party covers for my kindles (touch, PW, and now Oasis2017). And with the reviews the Amazon cases have received I don't think that will change. I've been searching everyday and it looks like MoKo has one available for order now.

MoKo Case for All-New Kindle Oasis (9th Generation, 2017 Release) - Premium Ultra Lightweight Shell Cover with Auto Wake / Sleep for Amazon Kindle Oasis E-reader Case, BLACK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0771GQ3X3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NORaAbACW3K0W

Not eligible for prime and only in black, but as of right now it seems to be the only 3rd party case. There are also a few sleeves (but it doesn't sound like you're looking for that).

I'm using an Amazon Basics sleeve until a larger variety of 3rd party cases are available.

u/ryanmercer · 3 pointsr/kindle

I've been using this one for a few weeks and then fold the cover back behind it. I like it.

u/_wannabe_ · 3 pointsr/blogsnark

I didn't get a protection plan, but I did get a nice portfolio case like this one. I like that it automatically turnd the Kindle off once you close the cover.

u/illiadria · 3 pointsr/kindle

13 year old daughter and I both have this case (we have Touches, not Paperwhites). http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Cover-Amazon-Kindle-Touch/dp/B005PCOKEK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374983123&sr=8-1&keywords=moko+kindle+touch They have protected the Kindles well in both our backpacks with textbooks (mine much heavier than hers). She likes the little flap on the front when she is reading a series so she can slip in a scrap of paper with the correct order.

The top review on the Touch version says it had a strong smell - we did not experience that problem with either color we bought.

Here is the link to the Paperwhite version: http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Paperwhite-Resolution---Lifetime-Warranty/dp/B0062IPIPQ/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1374983373&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=moko+kindle+paperwhite

The only thing I would change would be to add external magnets to hold the cover in place when open, but that is very very minor. Couldn't beat the price though! There was no way I was going to spend almost half of what I paid for the device on an officially branded case.

u/MuscleWizardcastFIST · 3 pointsr/kindle

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U0IZD2W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I love/have this case. Keep in mind though, this case has a natural finish (not suede). Pretty good reviews that go into more details.

u/fi_fi · 2 pointsr/kindle

I think this is what you're probably looking for:

http://www.amazon.com/Limited-Premium-Leather-Kindle-Paperwhite/dp/B00U0IZD2W

I have it on one of my "backup" Kindles and it's SUPER nice!

u/davw · 2 pointsr/kindle

You could get the amazon cover without the light and just buy a cheap book light as suggested by others. There's a used one going on Amazon for £23.55 at the moment, and as it's from amazon warehouse deals it's going to be practically new.

u/Eraser1024 · 2 pointsr/kindle

I wouldn't buy a case with strap like this one (this is some random case, looks decent btw). It's metal button can damage the screen and it distracts the reader. If you want a strap look for a case like this one (random as well).

u/Rawffle2 · 2 pointsr/kindle

I've searched extensively as well and could only find three choices, two of which don't match your preferences unfortunately. But I'll still list them since they have the flexible tpu backs instead of a hard plastic shell. Please let me know if you find any others!

  1. Young Me Shell - Just the silicone/tpu back shell without the cover.
  2. Ayotu v1: Flip-book cover with silicone/tpu back, but has a fabric/print cover.
  3. Ayotu v2: Flip-book cover with silicone/tpu back, but has a faux leather cover.

You can also consider vinyl skins. Decal Girl and Skinomi offer some, and there's probably a handful of other brands too.

Here's a link to the official case for older Paperwhites on Amazon USA: https://smile.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Paperwhite-Leather-Black/dp/B007R5YFS4/

They also have a premium leather case for older Paperwhites: https://smile.amazon.com/Limited-Premium-Leather-Kindle-Paperwhite/dp/B00U0IZD2W/

u/UnrealObserver · 2 pointsr/kindle

These are the two links at Amazon for Kindle-Touch Cases with built-in light (but none are available...if someone decides to sell a used one there, it may show up in the future)

https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Lighted-Leather-Paperwhite/dp/B004SD2562

https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle-Lighted-Leather-Paperwhite/dp/B004SD26E8

The only other option I have seen is to go to ebay, search for Kindle Touch Case with Light, then go through each one to compare the pictures carefully to decide if you think one will fit... the non-touch Kindle of that same era (the one with the big physical button at the bottom) also had cases with a light, but don't believe they will fit the Kindle Touch... the case picture above that you posted is for the non-touch Kindle

I also own a Kindle Touch that I bought used from Amazon in very good condtion, and did some looking but decided trying to find a case was just too iffy

Maybe think about using the money you had earmarked for a case into a good used or certified refurbished Paperwhite 1, 2, or 3 if you need a built-in light for indoor/night use

Of course the exact case you want may show up on ebay from a private seller... just make sure it is for the Kindle Touch... good luck!

u/Aisakura7 · 2 pointsr/kindle

Not sure if they make it for the Oasis, but I have This One for my paperwhite. It was pricey, but worth it. It's gotten wet, dropped squashed and squished and it's still going strong 3 years later. The leather is naturally wearing nicely too

u/metalbark · 2 pointsr/kindle

I like my slim paperwhite case because the fake leather or otherwise textured skin makes me feel like it is less of a tech screen item.

Also, opening the case wakes it up and unlocks the screen.

I am on this one currently.

u/BitGamerX · 2 pointsr/kindle

Good question. I have the following cover but I've gotten used to taking it off the Oasis when I read.

https://www.amazon.com/Ayotu-Thinnest-Lightest-Function-Adsorption/dp/B07B2S73JZ

If I didn't already own a cover I would be tempted to buy the newly released Amazon fabric cover.

Kindle Oasis Water-Safe Fabric Cover, Charcoal Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BG3LQF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_KtG9BbQ94E8S9

u/mikexrachel · 2 pointsr/kindle

Do you mean Oasis 2017? I used the following for my Oasis 2. https://www.amazon.com/Ayotu-Thinnest-Lightest-Function-Adsorption/dp/B07B2TN55T

u/Gutterastronomer · 2 pointsr/kindle

I wanted the thinnest and lightest case possible so I picked this one after reading some other reviews on reddit. It's an easy to remove magnetic cover (adhesive available if you want something stronger), but it doesn't cover the entire back. Meets my needs.

Ayotu Fabric Case for Kindle... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B2TN55T?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

u/viper_in_the_grass · 2 pointsr/kindle

I checked a few older threads and here are a few links to suggested covers:

Fintie

Omoton

MoKo

They all bend backwards and have auto wake/sleep. They all have different colours and designs.

These are the regular covers. There are also some neat covers called origami that fold in the back, making a little stand for the Kindle. Here's one by Fintie. Seems like all these brands have them, so just search and choose your favourite.

Note: those links are for the Paperbacks versions. If you go with the Voyage, just search for that version.

u/DarkDeliverance · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Congrats with the new job! Personally, the Uncharted games are absolutely amazing and if you haven't had a chance to play them then you really need to do yourself a favor and purchase this! :D
As for me, I recently got a new Kindle, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get a case. That's why I'd love this one! so that I can keep it protected and won't have to worry about harming it :)
woop-di-woop

u/no_4 · 2 pointsr/kindle

Not many get screen protectors. Unlike with a smartphone, scratching isn't really a concern since you're not carrying it in your pocket all the time. The actual concern is pressure / shock breaking the screen. For that I think a case is better.

For the case, I've used the official Amazon one, a "high quality" 3rd party one, and a cheap Ebay one. The real world quality goes High - Low in that order, but I'd say the best value by far is the "high quality" 3rd party one - like this one on Amazon, Finite paperwhite cover

u/Corix · 2 pointsr/kindle

like you stated, i do probaply 90% of my reading in bed. i keep my kindle (non-touch) on my nightstand, so i honestly could not justify the price of the kindle lighted cover.

i bought this... link

its definitely not as nice as the "kindle cover" but its a fraction of the price. it has a light, and it will protect it if the thing falls, or if i decide to take it with me when i go on vacation.

hope this helps.

I got this one and I like it.

Man alive was the original Amazon cover bad. I purchased one for pre-order for my 2017 Oasis and actually laughed at what a piece of garbge it was.

I use this one right now:

I have the official Amazon case and I really like it. It's solid, comfortable to hold and I can use it to prop up my book when I'm reading in bed.

u/eothred · 2 pointsr/kindle

I have the same kindle version with this cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004SD1ZPY/ref=pd_aw_sims_6?pi=SL500_SY115&simLd=1

Quite expensive though, but I found the reading light very convenient

u/ruckis · 2 pointsr/kindle

I ordered this case after seeing it suggested on here. Works great, my hand and thumb don't get tired.

u/TheBrownDandy · 2 pointsr/kindle

I assume he's talking about the 4th gen cases such as this:
http://amzn.com/B004SD1ZPY

u/mike413 · 2 pointsr/minimalism

Strangely, I have a kindle DX with the amazon black pebble skin leather cover and it feels exactly like a book when I close the cover. It also looks and sits like a book on the shelf.

They've changed the cover since than and it's not quite the same.

I also have a kindle touch, and the amazon lighted cover for that is smooth curved leather and doesn't have the same satisfaction.

u/cocacola31173 · 1 pointr/kindle

I have this case and even though its a bit pricy its very nice quality. Fintie has one similar to it but don't know if its the same quality. Its very light also! I keep mine in the bedroom and my hubby says I often fall asleep with it in my hand!

I have this case and usually just take it off when I'm reading since it's magnetic.

u/5six7eight · 1 pointr/books

This is the one that I have. I bought mine at Best Buy when I bought the Kindle, but the one on Amazon specifically says that it fits the keyboard.

u/immanence · 1 pointr/kindle

Found one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/MoKo-All-New-Generation-Release-reader/dp/B0771GQ3X3/

I had a Moko on my PW so I'm considering this, but I'd rather one that had a design on it, rather than plain black.

u/jphoenix · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

On the main list

<3 You rock, and thank you for the contest.

u/adamsw216 · 1 pointr/kindle

I've been doing a lot of research on this since I got my Kindle keyboard recently.

I love the Oberon cases, but I like something a little more plain, plus those are rather expensive (even more than I actually paid for my Kindle).

So I was looking around on Etsy and I found the Beautiful Kindle 3 bookbindery case which I really love the look of. Plus since it's extremely rigid, it would offer good protection. On the other hand, it's still expensive, and I didn't really like the look of the birch wood when the case is open.

Then I found the Dodo Case which is made with a much sleeker looking bamboo and still maintains the whole "bound book" look. However, the price still kills me.

So despite everything, I ended up just getting the standard Amazon Kindle Case, and I figured I could save up and eventually get a Dodo case or Oberon case down the line.

u/aco620 · 1 pointr/pics

I got this one http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Leather-Updated-Design-Keyboard/dp/B004JXVOD6/ref=pd_cp_kinh_1. The Kindle has holes on the side designed to clip on to that middle piece. It fits in surprisingly well, and so far the strap hasn't broken and the Kindle's stayed scratch free. One's probably as good as the other though.

u/admiraljohn · 1 pointr/kindle

I had something similar to that for a time but I found the straps that hold it in the case to be kind of irritating. I wound up getting an Amazon Lighted Case in its place, but that's a bit above what you said you wanted to spend.

Amazon also makes a non-lighted case for the Kindle that goes for about $30... there were issues with it when it first came out with a short causing the Kindle to freeze and/or reboot, but from what I understand that's been corrected.

My wife, on the other hand, isn't a fan of the Amazon case and uses this one, which she loves.

u/mohonk12561 · 1 pointr/kindle

I had the $10 MoKu case and sent it back, it doesn't add much bulk but as much as I use it I don't think it would last long -- for $10 bucks can't expect much. I then looked at the Casebot by Finti, bought this one. I returned it when I found they made a nice leather one for a few bucks more and got it instead. Very pleased.

u/XIIXOO · 1 pointr/kindle

I'm waiting for my Fintie case to come in. It was 10.99 yesterday, up to 11.99 today. Still a bargain. See reviews here.

u/atnpgo · 1 pointr/kindle

What I personally use is this. I don't think its quite what you're looking for but I am 100% satisfied with it.

It wouldn't protect from scratch while you're using it, but it does a wonderful job while its in a backpack or something.

u/Alesandramw · 1 pointr/kindle

Hmm then yeah maybe you will need a new case. I purchased this one and it works great.

u/coolsideofyourpillow · 1 pointr/kindle

If you're only going to be reading in bed then you probably don't need a case. I got this one for my mine.
Magnetic wake/lock, slim, and the cover folds all the way back.

u/Hanselcj · 1 pointr/kindle

Huh, that is neat. I don't actually have a voyage, just some of their older paperwhites and previous generations. Something like this guy: Amazon link. Maybe give a cheaper case a try, 60 bucks is a serious price for an accessory.

u/Drumheld · 1 pointr/wacom

Hey, It's you again!

I was hoping that you would find a way to make the case for the Companion 2 now that it has been announced, and here you are, not 2 days later.

I have looked into your case more deeply and if you are taking suggestions, I might hazard a few for you.

  1. Is there anyway to make the parts of the case that affixes to the actual unit more secure? I was thinking along the lines of a form fitting hardbody aspect that we could clip the bezel into, as in this case for the kindle paperwhite (with considerations for ports and what not)

  2. Perhaps a magnetic aspect and case for the wacom keyboard to accompany and affix to the original flipsteady?

Honestly for me, extra weight isn't as much of a consideration as much as form fitting protection, unified form, and your brilliant stand design.

Thanks for making such a great product. I'm sorry if my suggestions overreach your production capabilities, I'm not sure what they are precisely.
u/chowderbiscuit · 1 pointr/kindle

Fintie cases have been my go-to since I bought my Kindle a few years back. This one has held up especially well, and their slim cases are good too, albeit less sturdy.

u/hnilsen · 1 pointr/Nexus7

It hasn't been released yet - due to release 20th of August. All the pictures I've got are the ones from the amazon site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008NMCPTQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d11_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1F78MSBK1GFF5462M4KN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=317828027&pf_rd_i=468294

What makes this my choice (albeit I haven't personally seen it), is that it's got a hard back that covers the device, it's got a smart cover with magnets that close and turn off the screen that can also turn into a stand. And it's sleek as a motherfraker.

If it fits into the Nexus 7 as well as the THIS fits the Kindle Touch, I'm going to be a very, very happy man.

u/caliburnzhi · 1 pointr/kindle

Do you mean this one? The have that at Dick Smith as well.

I think its best to get a good case to protect my Kindle and I do really like leather.

I'm not sure if there's a case for a kindle touch, but the case has worked for my paper White! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LSD51I4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2JBKzb29X73X9

Yeah just this.

On cases like this, it will say it fits the 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016 versions. So, if your Kindle is from one of those years, it will be good.

I got this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791BBNKV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it's been great. Gives it the soft touch rubber feel that most Kindle have.

I know metal is "premium" but I've always found high quality plastic/rubberized plastic to be most comfortable for devices.

I've been using this one for a year. Absolutely love it.

Really thin case. Love it. Held on by magnet so you can remove it when reading if you like. Your hand is holding the soft felt when folded back over.

I just received the MoKo case two days ago. For the price it’s great. Fits tightly, covers the entire Kindle, has magnet so Kindle sleeps when the case is closed. Weight of Oasis 2 with the MoKo case is 11 oz.

I use this case.

It gets cheaper every time I check. I bought it when it was like 10 bucks.

I bought the GREEN LIGHTED COVER for my Kindle Touch and absolutely love it. The light is certainly bright enough and the case just fits very well overall. I was hoping to find 3rd party options too but I'm super glad I bought this one.

OH, I was also randomly complimented about the case on the bus the other day from a cute girl…so that didn't hurt!

i have one of those too, but i don't particularly like reading with it. the front cover gets in the way of the back grip when trying to read.

unsure if any other cases address that.

Ha, yep then we got the same one in different colors. As long as it folds flat to the back it will be fine (won't have it until tomorrow). After recalling the Amazon branded ones months ago you'd think they'd have made a new one for their flagship device.

This one is the best but like others have said, for the $50 it costs, you could just return it and get the paperwhite.

I got the one they advertise as "leather" ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078TMTLB8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00 )

It's fine, seems fairly sturdy. I really doubt it's leather though. Probably it's bonded leather, which is basically powdered leather (so that it retains the leather smell and feel) mixed with a bonding agent and some percentage of polyurethane on a fabric backing. I'm guessing this has a whole lot of polyurethane in it, because it does not feel like leather and barely even smells like leather.

I've been regularly searching for a TPU cover to add a little more grip to the Oasis 2 just like I usually do with my smartphones. There are a few choices for the 2016 Oasis and finally one has popped up on Amazon for the 2017 model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791BBNKV/

The cover won't be great if you're looking for protections for a bag , but if you're looking for something easy to slip on and off by your bed for a little more grip than the smooth aluminum back offers, this might be something work looking at. It's easy to slip on and off by the bed and into a more protective case if I'm talking it in my work bag.

At 47 grams, it's about a quarter more weight, but is largely imperceptible. The fit and finish could definitely be more refined, as there are visible seams and a small bump where the case doesn't sit flush against the Oasis. The front face has a sizable lip (~2mm?) that should protect the face of the Oasis if you put it face down on a table.

As for grip, it adds a reasonable amount more grip, but it could offer more. I've had grippier TPU cases for phones. I'd say it it brings the Oasis from a 1/5 to a 3/5. I may experiment with roughening the surface up a little bit, but it's decent enough for now.

The asking price of $40 seems pretty absurd, but you can get like-new used ones through the amazon marketplace for $10-$15. I got one that way and I'm perfectly happy with it.

That looks unwieldy for a Kindle. Have you considered [a cover with a built-in light] ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/permalink/mo2P8TZTSYMDXPC/B004SD1ZPY/ref=cm_ciu_images_pl_link)?

u/meejle · 1 pointr/kindle

So, supposing you had the official leather cover that wakes your Kindle up when you open it... Would that be a good way of effectively "hiding" the screensaver ads?

Just a thought.

I bought the official Amazon case

Kindle Oasis Water-Safe Fabric Cover, Charcoal Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079BG3LQF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TtnrDb3QV9H6B

It has the magnets and puts it into sleep mode. What case are you talking about?

u/boib · 0 pointsr/kindle

My case:

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0062IPIPQ

It's fine and cheaper than the $40 amazon case. It makes it easier to hold without touching the screen.

Eh? Are you talking about this one?

http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Lighted-Leather-Cover-Keyboard/dp/B003DZ165W

Or perhaps you'd prefer without the light?

http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Leather-Updated-Design-Keyboard/dp/B004JXVOD6/ref=sr_1_5?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1319404666&sr=1-5

Those ones are in stock all the time. Or maybe you're looking for a case for your 2nd Gen Kindle? You can indeed only find those used on the site anymore.
