Nice find. I'm still waiting to see one trying the extra large trash bag approach. Example: https://www.amazon.com/EVP-Extreme-Vehicle-Protection-Cover/dp/B07FCXLJPP/

That is really weird, cause my first thought in reading your comment is: What is the surface area of the average baby?

First we have to determine the age of the baby. I'm going for mass carnage here; median weight and length for 1 month olds. (55cm and 4.5kg)
According to the Body Surface Area Formula, the average male 1 month old is 0.267 m^2

Taking into account a basic sedan -- the 209"x73"x45" -- If we take just the height and width (converting to cm) we're left with 2378.5cm or 2.38m^2

Surprisingly it only takes (8.91) 1-month olds to create a car cover. This assumes 100% efficiency with materials. Given we'll need to round up any how to account for the 0.09 extra needed, a flat car cover would take 9 babies.

TL;DR - it would take 9-10 babies to cover a large sedan automobile

We store a lot of cars indoors. So long as humidity is reasonable, consider a plastic cover like this.

u/Effimero89 · 5 pointsr/AutoDetailing

Here would be my process.

Detail it perfectly. Apply whatever sealant or wax. It will last the entire season since it won't be touched. buy one of these. wrap the car after doing one last qd wipe down. Then put a more heavy duty car cover on and don't touch it. Don't brush off snow or anything just leave it be. This process will almost guarantee zero scratches.

Get a car cover. It will also make your paint and interior last longer. Example https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016ROG45M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uaFNAb9EKV9SV

Don't let it happen again with this.

If there is an absolute need to have it covered than something similar to this is your best bet. Kids walking by and sliding a traditional cover around on your paint is going to be worse than normal.

I completely forgot about the bird droppings.

I think I may end up purchasing this cover: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9PYYBL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_o.BJzbTC7SWJW

There are different conditioners you can put on the top to help it cope better with the sun. What you get depends on whether you have vinyl or canvas.

Also, one of these will help too:

I'm a carport and driveway dweller, as well. A bit pricey, but after 2 years of use, my soft top cover is still in perfect shape. It only takes a minute to get on/off and folds up a lot smaller than my cheap full car cover, which I also use over the half cover for longer parking sessions. I debated on whether to spend the $100, but it has been well worth the investment.

What about something like this. Self contained:
https://www.amazon.com/CarsCover-2011-2018-Volkswagen-Ultrashield-Waterproof/dp/B0791MY4BC/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_263_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0XCHBYM5JEPPQCAGJ7BY

Is it easy to remove/put. Because on weekends for example I use car 5-10 times.

That is to say it's for everyday use, not for a season

Anything else out there similar and easier.

I ended up getting this one and it fits like a glove (and also a lot cheaper than the Tesla's) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SZJ22Q6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3HttDbVXDVN0B

Haha! I am so sorry with the way I worded that! I mean something like this that is a better brand.

u/dylanisco0l · 1 pointr/S2000

yea that seems like the general consensus, i think i might just get this https://www.amazon.com/Honda-S2000-Soft-Protector-Cover/dp/B01COASVMM

Amazon sells one with decent reviews: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01BFVV4OI/?coliid=I2ON54V7H48KHZ

Do some research on covering cars in winter. You don't want to trap condensation moisture in there any longer than necessary. Also if you're at all concerned about rodents, my research says the best deterrent is pure peppermint oil on cotton in Altoid tins with holes, placed behind each wheel and one in the engine bay. Also put a bit of metal mesh over your tailpipe and air intake.

I've been really happy with

When I'm stopped in a drive thru facing the sun and its not moving fast enough, sometimes I'll put my sunshade up 2/3 of the way up just to bounce some rays back out of my car.

Ice chests filled with water bottles, or frozen water bottles are great. But the portable ice chest A/C idea would probably just be a waste. For the amount of cash you drop everyday on ice doing that this summer, you could buy yourself a new A/C unit.

When parked, use a half cover to cover the top of your car https://www.amazon.com/Half-Car-Cover-Size-Cars/dp/B00T8DO808

Here's a hybrid of the two, it only covers the windows and top of the car. From what I've googled, it might be worth checking out.

Cool Cap Heat Blocking Car Cover Standard Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004IG0TRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_inHRDb12167YK

EDIT: Hybrid of the two meaning full car cover and window shades.

u/radroachbrz · 1 pointr/AutoDetailing

Try a cool cap heat blocking car cover to cover your cabin and keep it safe from heat and UV. I've been looking at getting one of these, though my front windshield sunscreen keeps it pretty cool in my car: http://www.amazon.com/Cool-Blocking-Cover%C2%AE-Standard-Size/dp/B004IG0TRG

Otherwise, ceramic tints all the way! They block like 99% of UV and heat from the sun.

I change my parking throughout the day so I stay in the shade and reduce UV and heat damage in the summer. I park in the back of the building during the morning where I get the shade there, and then during lunch I park it directly under a tree, and then around 3-4 I park it in the front of the building which then blocks the sun as it starts to set. So I try to keep my car coolest throughout the day if I can.

I bought this one. It works really well for the price, although I've never tried it in the rain. The only thing I had to do with it, was cut a hole for the antenna.

>How about those sun reflectors? Would that be better?

slightly. A car-cover would be better. Nobody cares about a covered car parked on a public street (probably belongs to some pretentious jerk who is afraid bird poo might hurt his delicate paintjob--whatever) though even tinted windows might help some. remember to leave window cracked to prevent fog build up on the inside (a dead giveaway that someone is in there). Nobody will jack with you if your car is covered with a car-cover.
