Nah, God lighting bro. Amazon, selfie stand with a spotlight in a dark room at 5am every checkin day :)

here is the light I use

I found this sort of hook solved that problem for me, and the rubbery handle feels nicer to hold for me

Selfie Ring Light Cellphone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GDDZRTW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I love this light I use the warm light setting and clip it to my desk and take pictures on the floor. Best $10 (it’s $12 now) I ever spent!

u/Virisenox_ · 4 pointsr/flashlight

Three big problems here.

  1. No light you get is going to be "chargeable with mains." You'll need either a USB adapter (if you get a rechargeable light) or an external charger, which often does plug into the wall.

  2. Flashlights are not for self defense. You'd be better off just running away. If you want an 100 lumen light you can defend yourself with, get a 6 cell Maglite (£35.99).

  3. 100 lumens is relatively weak. Most 18650 lights can get up to 1000 lumens.

I don't know anything about what is or isn't allowed in the UK, but if you're dead set on getting a flashlight, a Convoy S2 is the go-to cheap light around here. This link has it and a battery for 15 pounds. Here's a charger for 7 pounds.

B-Land Cell Phone Holder with Selfie Ring Light for Live Stream, Flexible Mobile Phone Clip Holder Lazy Bracket Desk Lamp LED Light for Bedroom, Office, Kitchen, Bathroom (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074C7KRW5?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

It has warm and white lights, adjustable neck, and the light is dimmable. I love it. Highly recommend.

I use this https://www.amazon.com/Selfie-Holder-Lighting-Photography-Vlogging/dp/B07SPF32KS/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=selfie+light&qid=1572533043&sr=8-9

This light is very very good and you can also use the phone clipper to hold your webcam too.

u/11th_Warrior · 3 pointsr/gopro

Get a quality monopod like this one.

I own one and it's basically bullet proof. The remote is a toss-away.

u/benelgermosen · 3 pointsr/WredditSchool

For lighting: I bought a ring light with tripod for $30 bucks or so. It was a good investment as you can get really dramatic promos with very little effort.

u/HazMat68W · 2 pointsr/crochet

I got these from amazon. I also got these for when I start diving into knitting.

u/theglamorousacademic · 2 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

Thank you! It looks great, and I’m glad it’s working for you.

I’m the UK though, I’ve got my eye on this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Streaming-Dimmable-Photography-Shooting-Brightness/dp/B07Q3471S2

u/chocolate_enterprise · 2 pointsr/Amigurumi

I'm sorry you are getting so much different advice, but I only started recently too so here go's.

I learned how to crochet almost a year ago, and I started straight with this kit. It was FANTASTIC. It has a hook and yarn and teaches you all of the stitches. I definitely recommend it for you learning. There are a couple of other sets too, if you don't want Star Wars.

Then I bought these hooks so that I would have freedom for what I wanted to make with crochet. This set comes with stitch markers, which you definitely want for making amigurumi. I use quite a smaller hook than people here apparently. I seem to crochet large (the Star Wars character was supposed to be 3 inches tall and mine was 6in), so I use a 3.25mm hook usually. You will figure out your preference if you buy enough hooks to play around.

The problem with amigurumi for a first time crafter is that you need A LOT of different colors. You don't buy 3 skeins (balls) of the same color, like for a scarf. Instead, you need like 4 different colors for each thing you make. I used Simply Soft yarn. It is usually about $4 a skein. It feels nice to work with, but is still kind of on the cheap side. As for where to buy, I completely agree with the first post.

I'd say in total, I probably spent near $70 on everything to stock up. I kept having to go back for yarn haha. I have now made upwards of 30 amigurumi, and have only had to replace 2 of the colors. So, for me, amigurumi had a decent up front cost, but you get a lot out of it.

------

I am now completely obsessed. The kits are a great way to learn (many people also love Youtube videos for learning and for patterns). Amigurumi are so much fun because you get to watch your creation come to life, more so than a scarf. So dive in and have fun! Feel free to message me if you ever have any question :)

P.S. Buy amigurumi eyes on Amazon. You get 100 for $7, while in Jo Ann's, you get 10 for $7.

Nice video! Content is solid, hear are couple tips for filming:

  • Get a light for filming. This will help a lot on some of the darker shots where the room may have low light. Something like this $35 light could be plugged in whatever room you are filming for better light on faces.
  • Turn off the air conditioner or fan when filming. There were several times where you can hear the noise of the air condition or a fan or something. It's a small thing, but can be a little distracting!

    Keep up the hard work!

I got this one! There are three tones - a warm, bright, and neutral. There are 4 or 5 brightness settings that you can adjust as well. I really like it, no complaints whatsoever.

u/SamanthaHayesxo · 2 pointsr/SellerCircleStage

This is great for being on a budget, can plug in to your laptop or get a cube to plug into the wall outlet, and it clips where you want: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074C7KRW5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edited to add: the one above also lets you adjust the light to yellow/blue/mixed light and has multiple, easy to switch to settings. (Can you tell I love it? lol)

This was My first light set and IMO totally worth it if it is/becomes in your budget. I've had it for several years without issues.:

Nice snappy editing! I think you would really benefit from a soft light - whatever you were using while sat on the sofa was far too harsh, and the talking head shot at the desk is too flat.

A ring light is a great idea, and doesn't have to be expensive... https://www.amazon.com/Selfie-Ring-Light-LEDGLE-Upgraded/dp/B07T1BDTXX/ref=sr_1_22_sspa?keywords=ring+light&qid=1563797233&s=gateway&sr=8-22-spons&psc=1

I would look at a Neewer ring light

https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Dimmable-Lighting-Bluetooth-Receiver/dp/B0784SSRZS

Right there is your basic LED model, has everything you need to setup and start recording. You can also get them with CFL bulbs, but I don't like them as much as they are much more breakable.

That's the exact one. It works very well.

u/LLA_Don_Zombie · 2 pointsr/Twitch

I use two 20$ ring lights from amazon. Super cheap but they give me fine control of the brightness and if it’s warm of soft light.

Edit:

Selfie Ring Light with Cell Phone Holder Stand for Live Stream/Makeup, UBeesize LED Camera Lighting; 3-Light Mode; 10-Level Brightness; with Flexible Arms Compatible with iPhone 8 7 6 Plus X Android

Here is a similar, if not the exact one I use. Ignore that is has a phone holder. I just never attached the phone clips and folded down the extra arm. Alternatively if you used your phone to control your stream like a streamdeck you could use those to mount it.

u/alex_addictions_mua · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

If I can do it, anyone can lol. This is the ring light I have, but there are tons on amazon! They really help with making looks pop.

u/ConfidentNobody6 · 1 pointr/youtubers
u/lolwhatmama · 1 pointr/OOAKDOLLS

Oooh sorry I misunderstood. You’ll probably need some sort of stand. I’ve propped my phone against tissue boxes or books to record short Instagram videos. They make phone stands for recording fairly cheap like this one that even has a ring light.

u/CenturyEditor · 1 pointr/gopro

I recently purchased one of these and I can highly recommend it. It's not going to be studio quality fidelity, but it's certainly very good.

u/SleepDeprivedDad_ · 1 pointr/mixer
u/SpicyThunder335 · 1 pointr/Twitch

I bought two of these for my home setup to start out. One would probably be enough since you're going for an extra portable setup but I went with two for better light distribution.

They're cheaper than a single ring light, have double the LED count of most small lights (48 vs 24), adjustable brightness, adjustable color temp, one single USB cord for power, and they have desk clamps so you can stick them anywhere. I use mine at about 60-70% brightness and it's enough to run my C922 @60fps, even at night.

u/rebeccasf · 1 pointr/videography

Have you looked at the Canon M50? Cheaper than the Sony and still an excellent camera for YouTube videos.

As far as lights, you'll probably want a circular light for yourself.

This is great cause I found something for mine not too long ago.

So here we have a store called Five Below. Where everything is $5...or below. And I found the selfie ring lights. I picked one up and found it gave a good amount of light. It has 3 settings if you need more or less light and the best thing is... it’s inexpensive. You can clip it on anything.

So I found it on amazon . It’s not $5 but it at least let’s you know what I’m talking about.

I have a MacBook with a similar camera, you need more lighting. From different directions. I use a ring light behind the camera, and two other full spectrum lamps. I use this one.

What I use:

Logitech c922x webcam $68.22 right now, usually $99.

TONOR mic w/ arm and power supply $47.99.

Ubeesize ring light w/phone grip (I use the grip for the webcam) $18.99.

The webcam comes with chromakey software in case you plan to do background replacement. The mic is almost too good, because it picks up damn near everything and I've only recently started trying to figure out noise suppression and noise gates.

u/BeltPress · 1 pointr/gopro

> Can someone explain what this setup is?

Evo SS gimbal mounted on an Amazon selfie stick, with the phone mounted as a monitor for viewing through the GoPro app.

The hypersmooth should work fine, even on your chest mount. Try shooting 2.7K/30 and see if that helps.

u/JDSooners · 1 pointr/SmallYTChannel

Great video, you really got my attention. Lighting was a bit wonky but that can be improved with a more controlled setting. Instead of sitting on the counter in your kitchen, maybe sit at the table? I’m just nitpicking now, but I digress. Maybe invest in some studio lights or even a simple ring light for when you’re creating your cooking videos. Here is a ring light I use that really helps: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0784SSRZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zcS7CbPJS9CRD

8/10 video, great job, interesting concept. I’ll be checking out your future videos.
