I'm so sorry OP! Maybe in the future try an open heated curler? They look a little scary, but I find them to be really pleasant feeling and the curl is great. Can't rip hairs out if they're not clamped!

That's the one I have and I love it! I actually got it because the last post I saw like yours made me too afraid to use my clamp curler

u/LunaEller · 58 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

This is the one I recently got and I love it. It's 29 bucks now, but that thing is huge (and it's double sided!) and I'll never need to buy anything like it ever again. It can fit 96 colourpop singles. I just use my colourpop palette for traveling since you can use them as z palettes as well.

I missed my chance to use that! Lol. Thank you!! I bought a set off Amazon actually and they're super soft! Here's the link for them: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY8ICR6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lfZvDbE3JRWGE
I use these brushes mixed with some from palettes I bought or a random Real Techniques brush. ☺

How important having the right brush is for success with ABH Dipbrow!

I tried it a few times with a small-ish eyeshadow/lip brush and kept looking like I'd drawn them on with a sharpie.

Once I bit the bullet and got an eyebrow-specific brush (small angle brush on one end, spoolie on the other) my brow game was forever changed.

Doesn't have to be expensive either, I got this one on Amazon and it works great!

I have a few tricks to keep the curl in my super-straight lashes:

  • use waterproof mascara

  • Use a really good curler like Shu Uemura's or Shiseido's before putting on the mascara. Make sure you keep the curler clamped down for at least 5 seconds

  • apply waterproof liquid eyeliner, clear mascara, or a lash gel (I like Ardell's) to your lashes before you curl them. These products act just like hair gel by giving your lashes some 'grip' and making them easier to shape.

  • use a heated eyelash curler after you put on your mascara. I prefer wand-type heated lash curlers like Panasonic's. You hold the heated portion to your lashes while pushing them up. This sets the curl so that it will last all day.

Just be sure to use a wetter, waterproof formula (Maybelline's are ideal) since drier, creamier formulas tend to just flake and melt off when you use a heated curler on them. The wetter formulas will dry harder (kinda like how gel will dry if you hit it with a hairdryer).

You can also use a heated spoon or your finger to do the same thing if you don't want to buy a separate device (though they are pretty cheap).

Thank you!!

I don't have like set brushes but I ordered a set off of amazon they're called qivange they work great for the price!

My one staple brush is the Sigma e40 I've had this brush for like 7 years and it's by far the most amazing blending brush I've ever had.

Here:

1 The lightest, flimsiest, and most natural looking - would be an everyday lash for me if I was in a client facing position. My top choice for learner lashes because they are cheap and non irritating, and can take enough of a beating

2 A bit fuller, band is slightly more durable. I like the way these look more than 1, but they are a little bit harder to learn on.

I'd stay away from these entirely because they are absolutely the worst things to work with, and I can usually slap on falsies in about 2 minutes - these take 10 minutes and a bunch of cutting and trimming. band is super inflexible. awful.

good luck! shipping time kind of sucks and is sporadic, i've gotten them within a week or forgotten and see a surprise a month later...

u/tummy_grumblinz · 15 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

There are a couple of things you can do to avoid it. First, practice practice practice. Mascara takes a lot of getting used to. Second, if you're having trouble with them going different directions, try combing them out first. You can get an eyelash comb like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-1054-r-Folding-Eyelash-Comb/dp/B002HK2GI0 to help keep them in line. Third, don't lay it on too thick! Even the lightest mascara will clump up if you put on too much. Lastly, a lot of it has to do with the formula of the mascara. Some mascaras will just clump up no matter how well you apply it. A lot of people really like covergirl's clump crusher formula. It's a good, cheap go to that will help you get rid of clumps.

I hope that helps!

i strongly suggest going over to /r/HoodedEyes. there are some good techniques there, and practice every day an eye look. I HIGHLY recommend watching this Wayne Goss tutorial on hooded eyes: the straight line technique. I think this will be especially beneficial to your eye shape.

I'd also highly recommend that you learn tightlining. That's actually a pretty simple technique to master but will make your eyes pop.

As for colors for your eyeshadow, i think you'll be most happy with a light base plus one or two darker brown colors, just enough to give the illusion of an eye lift, but nothing terribly dark to make you cringe years later after you have mastered the technique. I personally like to use a light beige base color plus another brown that is basically a contour color because that basically contours the eye in a pretty nice shape but is not noticeable.

As for tools, I was really impressed with this set as a beginner's set. The blending brush is definitely nice.

Now, as for the other stuff, your eyebrows are very nice. They're pretty neat as it is, so it's no big deal. You probably don't even need anything done with those.

As for foundation... honestly, go to sephora/nordstrom/ulta as many times as you can and get color matched. Get samples. Test at home, ask for opinions both IRL and on here, if desired. Go again, and try to get different color matchers each time. Also, avoid that stupid Sephora IQ gimmick device. If you have any redness at all, it'll match you to an incredibly dark color.

To help you answer your questions about tone... ask yourself what colors look best on you. It's a bit difficult for me to get a decent idea of your tone with one photo. But wearing different colors and seeing how your skin looks can give you a decent indication. If you have trouble figuring out what tone the clothing is, you can probably google it and see what others say.

But... going off the one photo, you look more warm.

Nevermind I realized I can just copy the brushes I used and put it here haha but you absolutely don’t need these, all you need is a regular blending brush, a slightly smaller blending brush and maybe a brush to apply the darker shades in the corner.

Primarily
Sigma E40 Tapered Blending (its really the only tapered blending brush I have but tbh it’s not THAT good, just a medium sized tapered blending brush. Not worth the money alone but I got it in a kit)
Sigma E30 Pencil brush to darken the crease.
Sephora brand pointed blending brush with the label rubbed off also Sephora brand small angled brush for brows. They were both in the same set
• a brush I got on amazon in a set. The brand is Lamora and the name on the brush is just ‘blending brush).
Sigma E65 Small Angle to carve brows
If I’m being honest the softest brush here is the amazon and Sephora one, but maybe I just know nothing about brushes. These specific sigma brushes I listed have nothing special! Hope this list helped anyway! : )

Comb through your lashes after you put mascara on with a spare spoolie (you can buy bulk packs on Amazon) or an eyelash comb and it should take care of any spidery issues!

u/missyanntx · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Real Techniques! I've recommended it to all of my friends, all of them that have bought it (3 or 4?) have thanked me and raved about it. I've had mine for about a year now and it's still in perfect condition, it's an all around great brush.

u/hashlinglingslasher · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Ask the seller to issue a refund. If the seller doesn't respond within a few days, open a dispute with eBay.

I think they have brushes similar to the Zoeva complete eye set on amazon if you're interested :)

I also have a small-sized one, and seriously-- it is the only mascara I have ever been able to wear, let alone love! It's the only one that doesn't irritate my eyes or flake all over the place, or turn me into a raccoon. (I have started using an eyelash comb to get rid of any clumps because I've always hated clumps, but I think the mascara rocks!)

The other awesome thing is cheap eyelashes from Amazon, like 10 pairs for $2 kind of cheap. I buy style 0, they look the most like natural. If you wear glasses and find that lashes usually hit your lenses, these are the perfect length. The trick to putting on eyelashes without having your own is to anchor the outer third of the strip first. You hold onto the center of the strip with tweezers, lay the outer corner first, then let go of the strip completely (they shouldn't move) and grab the inner corner with your tweezers and slowly guide the rest of the strip onto your eyelid. If this doesn't make sense, let me know I'll be happy to make a video for you. With the secure hold glue, make sure you let it get a little tacky before applying. About thirty seconds should do it.

I second ELF - super soft and inexpensive. I also ordered this eye set off Amazon a few weeks ago and am loving them. I'm an eyeshadow newbie and they've really upped my blending game!

u/tomatostew · 8 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I've never bought one, but I've actually been considering a new XL one. The only thoughts I had about the brand before now had to do with the products being overpriced. Now I can absolutely say I won't be buying from the company.

I have a couple small magnetic palettes but now I want just a huge one on my vanity so I can have the option to put everything in one "home". I was considering something like this one that I found on Amazon. Does anyone have advice or suggestions for cheaper alternatives?

u/xo_hb · 7 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I like Real Techniques' Lash Brow Comb (http://www.amazon.com/Real-Techniques-Lash-Brow-Groomer/dp/B00A7H8ECW - it's cheap on Amazon! Compare to $6 at ULTA). Does the job and you can clean with makeup remover. :)

u/tgc07 · 7 pointsr/MakeupAddicts

One option that I've seen on here (but haven't tried) is using a stippling sponge. I believe that Goss used a similar product in a video.

(Sorry, I can't find the video right now but if you poke around youtube a bit, you should be able to find it!)

Edit - found it!

u/kinezumi89 · 7 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

Honestly (honestly) I've actually had good luck with cheapo Amazon brushes. Granted I love my IT Cosmetics blending brush, but for the price I don't love it thaaat much more than my cheaper brushes.

This is probably my favorite set that I've bought, and it comes in a nice cardboard tube that will be useful for traveling. It has over 6000 reviews and a 4.8 star rating!

I have another set that I got from r/mue, but I haven't come across it yet on Amazon (pretty sure that's where it was originally from). I bought the set because it was cheap and pretty, but I actually use them every day! So I wouldn't shy away from cheaper sets. Manufacturers are able to make pretty good brush sets for pretty cheap these days!

I don't use many face brushes, but I love my RT powder brush. So big and fluffy!

u/klm2389 · 7 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

There's not a single makeup wearing person out there who didn't have to practice their eye makeup a LOT before finally getting the hang of it, so don't give up yet!! I have a few tips to offer that helped me improve my own eyeshadow skills. First things first, investing in a good quality set of eyeshadow brushes will make a big difference. There's absolutely no need to buy the most expensive ones available, just look for brushes with synthetic fibers and a set that offers a decent range of sizes and shapes. (an ideal starter set should at least include a medium/large fluffy blending brush, a crease brush, a lid brush, a shader brush, an angled blending brush and perhaps a small liner brush) I've bought great brushes on Amazon for super cheap that I happen to like even better than some of the more expensive ones I own. Morphe also has really nice brushes that are pretty affordable. Good brushes make applying eyeshadow effortless, and with a little practice and trial and error you'll be a pro! Next, make sure you're using something to prime your eyelids before applying any shadow. I find that a thin layer of concealer on your eyelid/brow bone, set with a little translucent powder, works great for this purpose. It's not really necessary to buy a primer just for eyeshadow, in my opinion (unless it's glitter based, you'll need a specific primer for that). Make sure you're starting with the lightest shades first and ending with dark shades. Apply a only little bit of shadow at a time with very light pressure, and blend, blend, blend it out good using small, circular motions. I like to clean my brush off on a dry towel before applying each new shadow color to prevent the shades from becoming muddy. While thorough blending is the key to gorgeous shadow looks, it is very possible to blend your eye makeup too much, so be mindful to not overdo it. You want each shade to look seamless among one another, rather than just solid blocks of color on your eyelid. I would try out some simple eye looks that use just 2-3 basic shades, and once you've mastered those, start experimenting with more adventurous shadow colors and textures. Now, on to eyeliner. It's important to know what styles of liner will flatter your eye shape the best. I, for one, have never been able to make winged liner work with my eye shape, despite many attempts (sadly). Try out different eyeliner formulas, like liquid, pencil or gel to figure out what you like the best. Always take your sweet time while applying eyeliner, rushing may result in uneven and shaky lines which are hard to fix without messing up the rest of your eye makeup. Lastly, just have fun with it. Makeup is all about creativity and self expression! Hope these tips help you, keep trying and I promise you'll see improvement!!

u/vldsa · 6 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

This $14 set off Amazon. Better than the RT, EcoTools, and Morphe brushes that I've used - very velvety and soft, and I haven't experienced any shedding in the past eight+ months that I've used them.

I like this one from Tweezerman! The teeth are pretty fine and
they're pointed at the tip, so it does a good job of separating.

I got this brush set on Amazon for super cheap and it's been perfectly adequate so far: https://smile.amazon.com/Makeup-Eye-Brush-Set-Eyeshadow/dp/B00MNMQKPC/

Hard to gauge how soft would be soft enough for you, though. The fluffy blending brush is very lightweight! But, I mean, duh. It's a fluffy blending brush.

u/ahatmadeofshoes12 · 5 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Its really hard to tell what your makeup looks like in this shot because of the downward angle and the hair over the face. I'd recommend posting one where there are less shadows and we can see the eyes and eyebrows more since it will allow everyone to see things better to give you better feedback. Eyebrows in particular are essential for framing the face and one of the hardest things to get right but with the hair in the way there's no way to see them well to really give good feedback. The little bit I can see looks very light so you might want to look into getting into brow products to darken it up and shape it. For a cheap starter brow kit to practice with the ELF brow kit is really good and only $3. I still use that one because my brows are dark enough that I don't need too much but if you have lighter/sparser brows you might like something better. Right now the contrast between the light brows and dark hair is pretty stark. Here is a good tutorial for filling in/shaping brows for someone with fair skin and dark hair.

Again its hard to tell about eye makeup but it kind of looks like you've done some smudgy soft brown liner but again the angle makes it hard to tell. I can see that your eyelashes appear really light so I'd definitely recommend a black mascara. Maybelline has really good mascaras if you are looking for something cheap to start with. Curling eyelashes and applying mascara does a lot to open up the eyes and make your whole face brighter, especially if you have very light eyelashes (mine are blonde so I know the struggle).

It looks like you have a hooded eye shape which means that when your eyes are open most of your lid is hidden and tucked into the crease of your eye. Mine are slightly hooded so my eyelids don't show much. Its a bit tricker to work with but you can still do a ton.

Here's a good easy every day tutorial for a similar eye shape. I love the Shade and Light Eye palette that she uses in the video but its a more expensive item and while it is well worth it you might want to look for similar colors from the drugstore. But this should give you are visual for something you could do.

Liner is tough for your eye shape. I find that it makes a big difference on me but you have to be able to apply the line very thin or it will take over the entire lid space that is visible when your eyes are open. This just takes a lot of practice.

Having a good set of brushes helps too. I am in LOVE with this set from Lamora Beauty. They're cheap but great quality and have just about every type of basic eye brush you could ever need.

Your skin looks really beautiful. Only suggestion would be a bit of blush and maybe some color to your lips. The first youtuber I posted has similar coloring to you. She wears kind of mauvey tones for her more natural looks so you could try and find something similar to this, I think that would look nice on you.

If you like something more colorful then go for that too but its always good to master a neutral basic look and then branch out. Hopefully this helps.

u/hihotintin · 5 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I bought the Lamora set and really like them overall. I only bought their eye brush set https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MNMQKPC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Woodnote_ · 5 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I agree with /u/IvyMonster. Amazon cracks down hard on any sellers that don't provide genuine products. I've honestly never really paid any attention to who I'm buying from if it's available with Prime, and if it's not then I'll check the sellers ratings. I have no recommendations for sellers, but I pretty optimistically don't worry about fakes.

Good brands to start with are the Etude House I Need you mask set, or Innisfree It's Real mask set. It gives you a nice variety at a decent price.

u/artoo710 · 5 pointsr/BeautyGuruChat

It's Adept Cosmetics. Either their site or Amazon

I absolutely lost it when she posted this .. like, as IF I pay 10 bucks a pair. Haha, ordering these this weekend forsure! I feel like I'll get more use out of the lashes included in this pack.

u/BellisBlueday · 4 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I got a silicone tip brush and it works a lot better for me (still not great, but that's my skills) also easier to clean!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Real-Techniques-Silicone-Liner-Brush/dp/B00GXFZHD6

u/Felix--Felicis · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I'm considering getting a heated eyelash curler (perhaps this one). Every time I try to apply top liner, my curler always ruins/smudges the line so I thought this might be a good solution. I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions on heated curlers!

u/daytwi · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Eesh!

Yeah I definitely prefer curlers that have rounded silicone pads that have a little give and cushioning to them rather than the cheaper ones that have foam or just hard plastic.

Another option is a heated curler like the Panasonic Curling Wand (http://amzn.com/B0009DT39W) which doesn't clamp down at all, you just hold it up and under your freshly mascara'd lashes (while they're still wet) and it helps them dry with some lift to the edges. It doesn't provide the same sort of curl as a traditional curler but definitely more than just mascara on its own. Just a thought, can you tell I'm passionate about eyelash curlers? ;) Good luck!

u/A_Walled_Garden · 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I've heard you can use eye tape to make the hooded eyelid match the non-hooded (double hooded?) one.

I buy my falsies on Amazon, 20 pairs for $3 or so. Shipping takes about a month but it's free. Ugh. I know how frustrating it can be to not know where to start. Hopefully we can help you!

I would agree with the previous comment. Go to Sephora and get color matched for a foundation and a color-correcting undereye concealer. You have beautiful skin and I think a light coverage, but Dewey foundation would be the best (I really like the Bare Minerals liquid foundation).

As for blush, I would stick to warmer colors to best flatter your skin tone. This Sleek blush palette in Lace would be a great place to start. Great value, great colors, and it will give you an idea about what you like.

Invest in a quality eyelash curler (important!). Curl as close to the roots as possible and work your way up. Find a drugstore mascara you love.

I'm pretty ignorant about eyeshadow, but I think the Naked 3 palette or any rose-gold palette would look gorgeous on you. You can use a concealer as an eyeshadow primer.

As far as lips go, it's a matter of experimentation. I think warm, rosy colors would look incredible on you, especially if they have a hydrating formula. Ask a Sephora makeup artist to show you different shades, and you can find similar ones at the drugstore.

Quality brushes are essential when starting out. Don't skimp and you'll never look back. You will need a foundation brush, a crease brush (you can easily use this in crease and on lid until you get a flat shader brush specifically for the lid -- just clean in between colors), and a blush brush. Later, you can invest in a fluffy crease brush
for better blending and a flat shader brush.

I hope this helps! Try some things out, and post a picture when you're gone so we can give you CC. I would use a better quality picture next time, so we can see :)

Have fun!

I started wearing falsies everyday since maybe february and haven't looked back! I buy these in bulk

http://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Handmade-Natural-False-Eyelashes/dp/B006GKHIHQ/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1ETSKR6PY14E61NH07E9

I can use a pair for up to 2 weeks if I'm careful/don't get drunk and ruin them. They are so natural looking no one ever suspects a thing ;) I usually have to cut the ends a bit cause they're too long for my eye length, plus it's more natural looking if they don't span across your entire eye from corner to corner. Let me know if you want me to post a picture of me wearing them or anything :)

They're actually cheaper than I remember! They're a little weird to get used to but actually really nice once you do. You can only wear them a couple times though. And I'd carry around a little extra glue since the thread thing that holds them together is pretty flimsy.

Alright, first...Happy Early Birthday!!!

Now on to face things.

Skincare

First of all you should check out r/skincareaddiction. Even if you don't want to join the community the FAQ is great.

What I do for my normal/oily skin is every morning and every night I wash with CeraVe Foaming Face Wash which is recommended for oilier skin. So you might want to check that out.

Every 3 days or so I exfoliate with Epicuren which is just from my mom's shop but it's a nice deep scrubs without being too abrasive. You don't want abrasive like with say St. Ive Apricot scrub because you're actually tearing your skin and that's just not very nice. You want to gently exfoliate.

Once a week I use a LUSH face mask. My favorite is Love Lettuce because it's refreshing and exfoliating. Second favorite is definitely Cupcake. I feel so clean and bright after it.

Wipe off your makeup before you go to bed. It's bad for your skin and bad for your sheets. Whatever you do to take it off, just get it off. I use vaseline. It's cheap and easy on my sensitive skin.

Clean your brushes. Clean them. Seriously. What I do is after every makeup application I get a tissue and something with and edge like the edge of my dresser and I wipe the brush over the tissue over the edge to get all the excess makeup out. Then every 2 weeks I do a deep clean. Get a bar of some kind (towel rack, clothes hanger) and rubber bands. Get some warm, running water, and either some baby shampoo or some brush cleaner (though honestly I just use shampoo) and wet your brushes, bristles pointing downwards always. You don't want to get water trapped inside the little metal/plastic attaching ring thingy. Add a dot of shampoo to your hand and swish that brush around. It'll be gross. Good. You'll always remember to do it now that you know how gross your brushes get. Rinse bristles down. Dry bristles down by wrapping the rubber band around the handle and attaching to your rod/hanger.

Makeup

This is what I cannot live without

  1. Naked Basics. This is the best $27 I have ever spent in my life. I use it every single friggin day. All of the colors are perfect neutral mattes from lightest light to darkest dark. I even use one of the colors to fill my eyebrows. It's perfect.

  2. Wet n Wild Liquid Liner. I've become a liquid liner addict. It really helps make it look like I have eyelashes. The brush is very firm and very thin so I always end up with a line where I want it.

  3. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Smoke. I have very light eye lashes. So I tight line.. Trust me. You want to tight line.

  4. Clump Crusher I love this mascara. It really is non-clumping and while it doesn't give me the longest lashes in the world it makes them look fuller because there's no clumps.

  5. Smashbox BB Cream. This is just the BB cream I use. It does what all the BB creams do but I happen to match the 'Fair' color very well.

  6. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This shit smells like chocolate. I'm not even joking. I'm new to bronzer, but it's perfect for my skin tone.

  7. Sephora Blush. I'm still learning about blushes but I like that this one is matte. I'm not a sparkle face girl.

  8. Lipstick. I have too many to choose. See this comment I did where I swatch and rated every lipstick I have.

  9. E.L.F eye shadow primer You need primer. No. You need it.

    Makeup For You

So if you're just starting out again you don't want to go spending a stupid amount of money before you figure out what you like. So here are my suggestions for you specifically.

  10. Eyeshadow. Now if you can afford it, I highly recommend Urban Decay Naked Basics. But that's $27. So in lieu of that I suggest you get some Wet n Wild Eyeshadows. Maybe this one or this one.

  11. Eye shadow primer. Go to target and find the ELF section and get primer. It's a dollar and it will make your eye shadow amazing. No reapplying no smudging no creasing. Just perfect perfect eyes. It comes in other colors too, you may want to get a shade darker if you want to match your skin tone.

  12. Eyeliner. I would say get a pencil in either black or dark brown. I don't know if liquid liner is right for your eye shape but if you want to give it a go then you do whatever you want; it's your face.

  13. Eyelashes. Get a lash curler. Two to three curls and you should be good. I'd say black mascara for you.

  14. Eyebrows. I'm not an eyebrow expert but you're probably going to want to shape and fill in your eye brows (unless you love them just the way they are). For shape I'd go to a professional first before you wax at home or go plucking away. Then for filling in you can just use an eyebrow kit. Although I've heard complaint that dark eyebrows are the hardest to find a matching color for :(

  15. BB Cream. I hear Etude house kicks butt and it won't break your bank.

  16. Concealer. I love Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Concealer it's awesome. You want to blend that stuff too, don't just dot it on.

  17. Blush. I think maybe a peachy blush but pictures don't always show stuff right for skin tone so maybe you need pink. I can't really tell.

  18. Bronzer. You've got great cheek bones. I would skip this for now. Unless you're super gungho in which case: I'd check out The Balm.

  19. Lipstick. Cheap and amazing lipstick is NYX and I think a nice natural shade would look great on you. But seriously, if you live near an ulta, nyx is like $3.99-$5.99 for lipstick. It's amazing. Or everyone goes gaga for these Etude House Bunny Glosses.

Anyway, I think you look really great and that's the best start is being confident and having a natural beauty. Also I love your hair. But if you have any questions just let me know :)
u/aishian_rawr · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I have tried out a lot of eyeliners. I always seem to come back to the Elf brush liner. I guess I really like their formula. Plus, they are really cheap. What you can do is buy one of those silicone eyeliner brush and use that instead of what it came with.

u/capslion · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

These cheapo lashes. They're natural enough while still being glam lashes, and I like that the band is clear to help disguise that you're wearing falsies.

u/MillionLights · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Try some aloe or green tea masks! I haven't tried very many brands but I love Etude House I Need You sheet masks. Someone just posted a PSA of them on sale at amazon here

edit: These have slight fragrance to them but it's not strong or annoying

u/glossyvossy · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Brushes:
I love love love these ones from Amazon. The quality is extremely good and comparable with expensive brushes. The variety is also absolutely perfect for a beginner. You get everything you need for an eye look and more.

Palette:
For beginners, I find either the Too Faced Chocolate Bar or the Sweet Peach palette to be good. The color selection is standard and the pigmentation is pretty good. What I think makes them best for beginners is their blendability. The pigmentation and formula is just right to make them super easy to blend without completely blending away the color.

u/crisbehr · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I started wearing false lashes in August and I practically wear them on a daily basis now! It's all aboout practice and finding the right fit.

  1. Trim your lashes to fit from your outer corner to like 5mm away from your inner corner or more if it's comfortable for you.
  2. Place them on your lash line to figure out how you're gonna position it.
  3. Put a thin layer of glue on (I use kiss envy glue or duo lash glue) and dab a bit of extra on the outer ends.
  4. Let the glue dry a little and get tacky, when it starts to go a little transparent or blueish in tinge it's ready.
  5. Close your eye or almost close it and look downwards into a mirror, stick the middle part on with tweazers as close to your lashline as you can
  6. Align and stick down both outer corners

If it feels comfortable, you're good to go! Don't be afraid to remove your lashes, clean them and re-apply if it feels off.

If I don't use an eyelash curler, the Dolly Wink Long (my favorite mascara for the past year and a half) is pretty meh, but once I started using a heated eyelash curler like this, and it makes my eyelashes exactly what I want them to be.

u/monkeywhisperer · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

i'm not 100% sure what your troubles are, but if you're talking about your eyelid crease moving down causing a "monolid" at times, potentially eyelid tape might be what you're looking for. http://www.amazon.com/D-U-P-Wonder-Eyelid-Tape-Extra/dp/B000V2F6BU
instructions for how to apply: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zKvZBK2QKQ

if you're talking about reducing puffiness in your eyelids, a cold compress for 10 minutes at a time might help you out. cold causes vasoconstriction and reduces edema, kind of like icing a sprained ankle. wrap your ice in a towel and no longer than ten minutes without taking a break though; you don't want a frostbite. to prevent puffy eyes, you can think about elevating your head on more pillows or even elevating the head of your bed to reduce the amount of fluid that collects in your eye area.

If you want to save a little cash, I swear by this box of lashes. 70 pairs for $16!

u/stupidminnow · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I can only speak from experience doing makeup on someone with hooded eyes. I used a Sigma E25 for the majority of the blending especially for the outer corner/outer crease. I did use the E40 which is bigger for initially laying down a transition color, but looking back it wasn't necessary, I definitely could've used the E25 for that as well. For more precise definement of her crease I used a brush similar to this Sigma (again lol) E45 as well as for blending out the lower lashline.

u/lildrummerliz · 2 pointsr/Trichsters

I'm still doing research to find the best ones. Someone made a post about these- I haven't tried them out yet, but I will!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GKHIHQ/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_8r.Jtb0YY1JV4

u/emerilise · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Pretty sure it's http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006GKHIHQ These are very, very natural looking, in fact you might not even see much of a difference when you have them on, it just makes your lashes look longer. Hopefully these are the ones your coworker was wearing. I know they come in different styles, but you're probably going to have to look for it on amazon.

u/kron_ · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Depends on your personal taste, eyeshape, makeup style...
I like the Ardelle Wispies:
http://www.amazon.com/Ardell-Invisiband-Lashes-Glamour-Wispies-Black/dp/B0035LCW4I/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1374473586&sr=1-2&keywords=wispies

If you are looking for something even more natural these could work and are pretty cheap:
http://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Handmade-Natural-False-Eyelashes/dp/B006GKHIHQ/ref=pd_sim_bt_1

I also think brands like NYC and ELF sell $1-$3 lashes that look fairly natural.

u/cuppycaek · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Woohoo, congrats on the BIG MONEY! :)

I've had Velvet Teddy on my Wishlist for such a longgg time, it looks so pretty when I see it posted in FOTD's!

And a look posted by CosmicOlive not too long ago made me lust after the NYX Adorable Palette as well :)

I would also like to try this Ardell Brush Duo, as I recently bought some Dipbrow and am having some serious struggles with my current tools.

Thank you so much for hosting, and awesome job on the record shattering work! :)

u/neurogeneticist · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

This is the brush I use. However, I may be in the minority in what I like in an eyebrow brush. The bristles are not very stiff, but I love this as it's very easy to get short, feathery, natural strokes! If I'm going for a bolder brow, I use a small Sonia Kashuk angled liner brush from the anniversary set that was out over the summer - it looks pretty similar to a SK brush someone posted earlier!

u/MissHillyG · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I think Ardell makes one! It's an angled brush on one end and a spoolie on the other end. You can find it on Amazon!
I'll try to link it.
I am not sure how comparable it is to the ABH one.

u/Stellabeaux · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

You know, I tried out the neutral palette thing for a while and it's great for some occasions. But it's so much fun working with colors!

The 252 was on sale on Amazon when I bought it for $20. It was a really brief dip in price and I thought "there's never a better time!"

Excessive? Probably. I see a lot of nearly the same shades repeated in the palette. I would say whatever you're comfortable spending would really be the factor in this. It's not excessively priced for $26 (with prime) and I like the variety.

I think if you had a good eyeshadow base to fall back on, getting a smaller palette wouldn't be a problem. For me, this is my eyeshadow palette. The only one, until I can get more (there was a thief let loose), so spending $20 on the 252 was a good investment for me.

u/Kainiaa · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I have the Coastal Scents 252 color palette. You can usually find it on Amazon around $30 and the colors are great. Just make sure you prime and use a white base beforehand and they stick beautifully. :)

Yes I used an urban decay anti aging eye primer, it is not tinted. I did how ever use a translucent setting powder to set and not an all over shade. I used 3 shades and a shimmer for the lid/ I copied a tutorial I watched and used the same shades

I like Real Techniques for their face brushes, but I think their eye brushes are a bit wonky-shaped. If you use Amazon, Lamora is super cheap and high quality. I love their eye brushes. I have both the 7 brush kit and the smokey eye kit. I've had them for over a year and they've survived washing once a week without shedding and they're just as soft as when I got them.

u/princessbgum87 · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Hey!
I know going straight in with surgery might be a big leap, especially if you're not sure about it.

I think a great less permanent 'fix' or 'trial' (which eventually becomes permanent I believe?) Would be double eyelid stickers.

https://www.amazon.com/D-UP-Wonder-Eyelid-Extra-UPD/dp/B000V2F6BU

You use a small tool to stick the sticker in the crease of your eye and it holds your lid up giving you the double eyelid look. In your case, it may lessen your eye irritation and let you decide whether or not you like the look on yourself.

Honestly it's really up to you if you want surgery. I'd at least give these a shot first. There is probably a bit of a learning curve (I've never used them myself) as with any tool, but if you can get it, keep using them :)

I DONNO WAT TO USE AS A PHRASE BUT HAPPY DAMN CAKE DAY! I REALLY WANT FAKE EYELASHES FOR MANY VAIN REASONS

u/bitch_is_cray_cray · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Item on ze wishlist. Definitely foundation, preferably mineral powder because my face is so wishy washy sometimes - never know if I'll need it! Lip balm aaaaaaand make up remover. I don't normally play with my eyes, mascara's fun and all that but it's not a necessity and it's a female canine to remove! Thanks a lot for the tea cup contest! I can't wait till the day I get a job and credit card so I can do my own glamming :)

u/stopthebefts · 1 pointr/HaircareScience

You should order them in the big multi-packs from Ebay or Amazon, which ship directly from Asian countries like China, so you get ~identical lashes at a huge discount, like $1.50 for 10 pairs with shipping. Pick one that has individual lashes so you can easily layer on mascara, like the set on the right. You can mount them on the edge of a table or something so you can apply the mascara. To reduce another variable in the experimental design, you should use single-use mascara wands to apply the mascara, so you're just seeing the lengthening effects of the mascara formula, and limit the amount of times you go over the lashes with a specific mascara. Then maybe just measure how long the lashes are after application. I wouldn't use real people because there are too many variables.

Buy these! I have them and holy crap are they worth the money. You will have to get some glue (I suggest Duo non-permanent) but the lashes are easy to trim down to your length and if you mess one up you've got a whole bunch more!

I've used the full tapered set and the set that looks like it has points with a smokey eye. Love them!

u/Moosetracks01 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I think they are actually pretty good. Got some short ones and medium ones, and some really thick ones that are thick as hell. They look really cool with heavier makeup.

That's what I got. I'm happy with them.

u/numb_doors · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

false lashes never last very long because of the layers of glue from reusing and putting mascara on it or what not so don't feel the need to spend $$$ on high end falsies (unless they look like bomb like Shu Umera) . you can get a box of 70 at amazon! just make sure to clean off the glue if you want to reuse.

Thank you! :D Here is my bright birthday look!
If I win first place, I would love this brush because I think nicer brushes could really help my eyeshadow game, so I've been wanting to slowly replace my old ones. :)
If I were to win second place, I think these would be fabulous because I always carry my lipstick of the day around in my pocket, and it would be great to have a case with a mirror with me!

u/darksugarrose · 1 pointr/Indiemakeupandmore

I stalked your profile because I'm a creep to see your work with darker shadows. I think the blending is all you need to rock those. Also a lot of tutorials I've followed suggest layering with lighter colors and making a gradient with multiple shadows. They don't exactly have to match the primary dark color, it can be matte taupes and nudes.

I don't know what your brush kit is like but I do recommend these two brushes (E25) (E35) from Sigma. They're excellent for blending, and the E25 is considered a MAC 217 dupe, I don't know first hand since I don't own a 217 but I like the E25 a lot.

No problem!

Super cute, affordable and you can use each pair 2x, 3 max!

u/butternutsquashsoup · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I use this Ardell brush with an angled brush end and a spoolie and it works great!

u/jaburke · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I have two angled brushes: The one I have amongst my other eye brushes is from Sephora that I got in this set though of course you can buy it individually. It's a good angle brush but I dedicate it solely to eyeshadow. The one I actually use for my brows is the Ardell Duo Brow Brush. The angle brush on this one probably isn't as firm as my Sephora brush but for the price it gets the job done. I bought it because of the price, particularly because it has the spoolie end and I was too cheap to buy the Anastasia version of this brush for $18 lol

u/NotSuzyHomemaker · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

drama llama!

These if you have Prime, this if you don't.

Thanks for the contest!

u/ottiecat · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I've been using this from Amazon for ages, I really need to upgrade to that, it's not stiff or big enough. I need to get better at grooming my brows on time, I swear they turn into a jungle as soon as I get them threaded.

u/roseatesg · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I think Ebony should work fine! I use the Ardell Duo Brow Brush to apply.

The steps are pretty easy but it takes practise to get the shape you like!

I spoolie my brows first to get them to go in one direction, then I draw the outline (shape) of the brow that I want.

I'll fill in from the back of the brow inwards so the inner of my brow won't be as harsh as the outer :-) Something like this! Haha I'm still far from an expert for my brows - but currently I like how it looks.

u/pukebear · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I'm trying to collect all these brushes Real technique brush

u/nellynewdelhi · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

i have that exact one and struggled so much. Then I found [this baby] (http://www.amazon.com/Real-Techniques-Silicone-Liner-Brush/dp/B00GXFZHD6) the other day at Ulta and changed my life forever. It's pretty dang awesome, since I usually am best at applying eyeliner with the thin brushes. It's not a brush either but I like how I don't have to worry about bristles and stuff. They also have another Matte liner I believe that has the EXACT same effect as their gel liner. Can't recall the name but it's a matte black.

u/rawbery79 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I hope this doesn't seem like a cop-out, but I don't know what it is yet! I have Chocolate Bar and am planning on getting a new palette SOON, either Lorac Pro or Pro 2 (or something else, I'm not 100% sure yet). So whatever my fall color will be will be on my new palette, whatever that is.

Speaking of, I have my eye on pretty much all of the Sleek palettes, though I don't know how work appropriate they would be...but I especially like these:

u/valentineviscera · 1 pointr/MakeupEducation

I haven’t read any reviews on the KVD lash liner and personally I don’t know anyone who uses it so I can’t say whether it’s good or not.
The products I like to use:
L’Oréal
maybelline
urban decay waterline
And brushes I prefer:
real techniques silicon liner brush This one helps me push gel into my lashes easier to fill in gaps.
sigma e10
sigma e06 for easier winged liner in my hooded eyes.
And for the “stamping” I use a flat japonesque brush that they apparently no longer make as it is about 10 years old BUT sigma makes quite similar that are on sale rn that are described as “tightline and waterline brushes.”
sigma e17
sigma e16

To REALLY get in between the lashes place your ring finger (don’t push too hard!!) on your eyelid right above the lashline of where you’ll be placing the product and lift up a little bit. Tilt your head back so that you’re looking downward to the mirror a little bit. That will keep you from blinking/tickling ish as well as spread the lashes so you can work the product into the gaps easier. It also helps keep that part of your eye from getting wet as it will pull it away from your eyeball a little bit. If you get teary, you can squint your lower eye a bit and it should force the tears out so you can keep going once you’ve let them fall from the corners. Do this all before the rest of your shadow. Allow yourself to blink if you must and you can dab off excess moisture on your upper waterline and lashline with a clean finger.

If you use pencil you can use a blow dryer on the tip for a few seconds (not too long! )to warm it up and make it glide easier and be more malleable.

Again, there are many techniques I’m sure that are easier that other people use, this is just what works for me❤️

I recently got brushes these off amazon after reading tons of reviews and they’re great it’s a smaller set but you do have some essential eye brushes in there, they blend shadows like a dream also great price point. However if you’re looking for a bigger set BH is good for that

u/uv_catastrofille · 1 pointr/sugarfreemua

Mine is a cheap set off amazon! The "Seven Essential makeup brushes" set from Lamora. I'm not sure if it's smaller than yours, but there's a few options to pick from.

u/lalatos · 1 pointr/Makeup

I bought some on Amazon (Link below) - I was so amazed by the quality of the brushes for its price - The ones that I got from CVS/Rit Aid doesn't last me very long, and the ones from MAC or Sephora is just so pricy although the quality is amazing.

u/MacNCheesyBeezy · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Cool sounds like you got it down! So maybe you can add like a BB cream, blush, and tinted balm to your routine. And possibly also get into natural eyeshadows with a light color on your lid and under your brow then a darker color blended into the crease. I highly recommend one of these Lamora Nudes palettes, because you get 16 great shadows for $12. They are super easy to use, blend well, and have good pigment with little fallout. Very good for a beginner. And for $9 you can get a complete eyeshadow brush set, so you would have a variety of tools.

My favorite movie is What Dreams May Come. I feel awkward saying I'd like to win for myself, but I would. Even though my sister would probably end up trying to steal half of it and my kids might do what they've done to my other make- up and ruin half of it lol
