also found this! not as good of a deal, but certainly beats the $50 Tarte pricetag!

Product name: Jojoba Oil by Leven Rose

Price (range): ~$14

Country of purchase: USA

Ingredient list: 100% Pure unrefined and organic Jojoba Oil from Simmondsia chinensis grown in Arizona, cold pressed.

Experience & opinion: Very simple product, but probably one of the most effective things to fix my cuticles and skin around my nails. I am prone to getting hang nail/dry skin around my nails and lotions really don't do much for me. Ever since I started using jojoba oil, I saw a difference in the first few days. My nails have also gotten stronger since using this oil on the daily. I transfer a few droppers full into a nail pen so it makes it easier to apply.

Also throwing this in there, Cavin Schon marula oil (https://www.amazon.com/Cavin-Schon-100-Marula-Seeds/dp/B06VWG91CH) on Amazon is a dupe for the marula oil. I was running out of DE and got it, no difference in color/texture, it is equally as silky and sinks in the same on me.

You can actually get the maracuja oil (it's passionfruit oil) off amazon in the same quantity for much much less than the tarte costs! Here's an example. You can definitely return the tarte to sephora and have enough to buy another lipstick :)

Ooh, my time to shine! Swimming hair care expert here- swim 6x a week for ~90 minutes a session in chlorinated pools and still maintain shiny gorgeous locks. Do the following and you'll be good:

  • wet hair before you put cap on. Completely soak it to saturate the hair follicle.
  • after swimming rinse well, apply conditioner when you shower and rinse out, then lightly apply and leave in this stuff - to entire length of hair, concentrating a bit more at the ends

  • on weekends or when you have time, apply castor oil to roots and jojoba oil to middle and ends, leave on for 30 minutes and rinse out. Personally I like to put this on and let it soak while I hit up the eucalyptus steam room, cold plunge ice bath pool and then the dry cedar sauna. Pro Tip: grab a plastic bag if your pool provides them for you to store wet swimsuits in, and wrap that around the top of your head after putting on oil while you hit the sauna/steam- boom, instant hot oil treatment! :)
  • air dry as often as possible, blowdry as infrequently as possible
  • detangle GENTLY using mainly your fingers and not brushing tangles out harshly with brush to decrease breakage
  • when you tie hair back do so loosely, not tight
  • wait a few days between shampoos, use dry shampoo to soak up oil if necessary
  • get your thyroid checked and have PCP run regular lab work to make sure nothing else is underlying cause

My husband has episodes of cystic acne. He recently grew a beard and started using beard products.

The only one that doesn't cause him to break out is pure jojoba oil. It's this one:

Leven Rose Organic 100% Pure Cold Pressed Unrefined Natural Jojoba Oil, 4 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJX58PE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AjPfzbHQR0TWW

Maybe you could ask your SO to try it? Shampoo, occasionally condition and then the jojoba oil. Nothing more or less, but still nicely groomed :)

Basically everything has been a skincare fail for me lately.

  • Fresh Black Tea Essence. Fail. I didn't see any results at all.
  • Stridex green box. Major fail. I broke out all over and got an actual cyst, which has never happened before. This is at the 0.5% concentration so I can only imagine how bad red box would be.
  • Konjac sponge. Not so much a fail, just had to stop using it after I wrecked my face with Stridex.
  • Garnier Micellar Foaming Face Wash. Too drying.

    Some wins:

  • CosRX 96 Snail Mucin. SUPER WIN. It's so hydrating!
  • Radha Beauty rosehip oil. My friend let me try this and it's amazing! I have learned after 27 years I have combo skin, not oily, not (strictly speaking) dehydrated, so I'm quadrupling down on moisturizing.

My goal is to go 30 days without introducing anything new into my routine, which is hard as I still have lots of little closed comedones and the occasional hormonal zit I want to zap with something harsh. But literally every acid I've ever tried (outside of glycolic, which I stupidly didn't think was working well enough so I quit using it, and azelaic, which I've yet to try) has devastated my face. After 30 days I may try glycolic again or order a low concentration azelaic. I quit r/skincareaddiction. It was too much.

Hey ScA! Found a few products that I wanted to add to my routine through reccs here and research so I thought I'd share them. I have combination skin, Fitzpatrick type IV, and my daily struggles are mainly with hyperpigmentation, a wonky texture on my forehead, and hydration. If you have any friendly advice, warnings, criticisms, I'm all ears. :)

-From Left to Right-

  • Radha Beauty Rosehip Oil: Bought mainly for the linoleic acid. The bottle is huge, the dropper is nice, and it should last a while sitting in its nook in my fridge.
  • Peach Slices Citrus-Honey Aqua Glow: a gel moisturizer with a light, citrus scent that absorbs like lightning and sits well under my sunscreen. I'm patch testing this right now but I'm very happy with it. Confession: shamelessly bought for the packaging.
  • CVS samples! :)
  • Timeless 100% Pure Squalane Oil: emollient, comes in a glass bottle and I'm probably going to mix a few drops in with my moisturizers or use it in its own step.
  • AmLactin AHA Body Lotion: My boyfriend and I both suffer from keratosis pilaris, so we're giving this a shot in conjunction with a daily SPF on the arms.
  • Biore Perfect UV Face Milk: This is a repurchase, it lasts surprisingly long for only being 30 ml (then again, I don't reapply, tsk tsk), is cosmetically elegant, and though there's a bit of a white cast, it goes away after a few minutes even on my darker skin. It is a bit drying, though, which makes sense since its supposed to be a matte sunscreen but I might replace it when I get around to it. Still highly recommend, especially for oily skin!

Also picked up some cod liver oil. Will it do anything for my skin? Uh, maybe! Mom's been getting on me about my omega-3s so I humored her. :)

Rave: artnaturals Jojoba Oil

So, after finding a skincare routine that was literally perfect for me, I decided it was time to amp up my hydration and stop double cleansing at night with Micellar Water and a Cream Cleanser as an experiment.
I began using Jojoba oil (which I've never used... I've actually never used an oil that wasn't squalane and rosehip) as an oil cleanser to remove my water resistant sunscreen (Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk) and to help cut down on that tight skin feeling post-cleanse. Not only does it remove everything after gently massaging it in and wiping off with a warm and damp microfiber cloth, it leaves a super soft and slick finish that protects my face while I shower. I'm absolutely in love with jojoba oil. I've even began adding about 5 drops to my moisturizer at night and 3 drops in my moisturizer in the morning. My under eye wrinkles and my forehead lines have began to soften drastically which makes me think that my skin was lacking in oils. I guess I'm an OCM convert?

1.5 years after starting the CG method and I will never turn back! See my progress pics from one year ago. I have 3b/3c, extremely low porosity hair. I'm mixed race - African and European descent. I got my first Devacut 3 months ago and I am LOVING it!!

Wash routine: Apply SheaMoisture conditioner (currently using coconut&hibiscus) in shower. Part hair from ear to ear and split into two sections. Comb out tangles in each section with shower comb and plop on top of head. Let hair sit and absorb conditioner for 5-10 minutes. Turn shower water to cold and rinse out conditioner. Lightly pat out excess water. Apply about 1/4 cup of SheaMoisture leave-in conditioner to top and bottom sections. Apply argan oil to roots and tips. Let hair down to dry and pick a side part (I usually pick a different side after each wash). Let dry then apply about 2 tbsp SheaMoisture curl enhancing smoothie.

No-wash routine: Sleep with hair in pineapple. In the morning, spritz hair with just water to loosen curls. Apply more curl smoothie as needed on later no-wash days. I usually go 3-4 days without a wash using this method.

Deep condition routine: I just added this to my routine so I'm still working out details and order, happy to hear suggestions! Heat hair cap in microwave. Apply SheaMoisture shampoo in shower. Rinse. Heat hair cap again if needed (I like to "pre-heat" before my shower so it's close to target temp as soon as I get out). Apply about 2-3 tbsps of Jessicurl Deep Conditioner into hair. Try to detangle hair with shower comb (this part is a struggle and I think needs reordering). Put plastic shower cap over hair and heated hair cap over shower cap. Let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out deep conditioner in cold water in sink. From here I follow the second half of the wash routine, but I use about half the products.

Okay, brace yourself lmao.

I have an odd wheat allergy/intolerance (not sure what to call it but it's called WDEIA if you're interested). I was very lazy with it and it made things a lot worse regarding flare ups/blushing etc. The first step was cut out/cut down on wheat, shitty fried foods and dairy. I feel combating inflammation from the inside first was a massive step forward.

As for skin care products these are the ones I swear by (personal preference). I'm a red head white scottish guy so my skin is sensitive as hell but also tough as hell.

Naissance Witch Hazel (Not sure if this is an ideal "cleanser" for all or at all but it has worked for me, it does a better job than any standard face washes have done for me.)

Lacura Healthy Glow Toner 5% Glycolic Acid (this stuff is a clone of Pixi Beauty Glow and seems to stand up pretty well to it, Amazon sell it for £15.99 but it's only £3.99 in Aldi and it never seems to be in stock unless you're lucky. Apparently they do beauty events a lot so keep an eye out for that.)

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (A great anti inflammatory for the skin, Niacin is a B vitamin so it's key to get this any way you can.)

Cliganic Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil (Most moisturisers I found were loaded with alcohols I was trying to avoid as much as possible and the good ones were kinda expensive (not always the worst thing but I was strapped at the time). This is really nice stuff. It's hypoallergenic, antibacterial and a source of Vitamin E which could help with scarring etc.)

I also use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution occasionally. I used it a bit too much before and it seemed to make my skin very stripped and irritated but after dialing it back it has become a good addition.

I basically just wash my face with water in the shower (not too hot or you'll be a tomato). I apply the WH first then the toner with cotton pads, letting it dry off in between. Next comes TO Niacinamide, a small bit goes a long way as it can pill when applying things over it. Lastly I'll put a few drops of the jojoba oil on once the Niacinamide has dried in a bit. A FEW DROPS is key here, the coverage is insane. You'll end up looking hilarious if you put too much on, it's not a pleasant look or feeling with a big greasy face.

I do this once in the morning and once at night. I'll use the peeling solution when I feel it's necessary, once a fortnight usually.

Hope that helps or offers something, sorry it's so long winded. It's better to have info and reasons over a vague post in my eyes.

u/Noroeste · 5 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

What direction do your ridges go in (horizontal or vertical)? Vertical ridges are genetic and usually become more apparent as you age. Horizontal ridges have more to do with nutrition.

You can disguise ridges using a ridge filler.

If you want to improve your nail health overall, the easiest thing you can do is drink more water, and moisturize jojoba oil into your cuticles/nail bed a few times a day.

If you want to try supplements, there are a few ways you can go, but you have to be consistent with it. Prenatal vitamins that contain biotin, calcium and phosphorus are fantastic for hair, skin and nails, but biotin can cause acne in some people (and anything that's marketed as prenatal can be $$). Collagen is excellent for your skin and nails (and bones and joints) as well.

Check out SheaMoisture . They’re certified organic & fair trade, cruelty free, sustainably produced, and the list goes on... They have a ton of different products and are affordable. I have at least 10 of them in my bathroom right now (and all are amazing)!

For shampoo, I use a combo of their baobab low porosity shampoo (scalp) and coconut+hibiscus curly shampoo (all over). I have naturally curly hair and have tried countless high and low end products over the years. No others have worked as well on my hair.

You might want to check out their two porosity lines (high and low). That could make a huge difference in the weight you’re experiencing with your current products. More info about porosity here.

A recent discovery that has made a huge difference for me - replacing conditioner with straight jojoba oil. No weight and my hair lasts longer between washes. I’m currently using some by Leven Rose that i got on amazon . Bonus: they have a lot of coupons and offers available as well.

Hope at least some of this helps!

I put Radha Beauty Rosehip Oil ($14.95) on any stretchmarks or scars -- basically slathering most of my torso with the oil. It doesn't smell at all and absorbs into my skin all night under a loose cotton nightgown. I haven't gotten it on my sheets yet, so not sure if it will stain linens.

I also use Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion for Dry Skin ($7.74) on my forearms, elbows (I have a patch of psoriasis on my left elbow and this is the first lotion that has felt like it's actually helping) and on my feet. (After every shower I use Queen Helene Cocoa Butter [$4.19] as well, btw.)

Are you taking a B12 supplement? I was taking a cyanocobalamin B12 and had some pretty bad breakouts. I switched to a methylcobalamin B12 and stopped taking it every day and it helped a lot.

It could also be something you're eating. If you've replaced meat and dairy with a lot of soy products (tofu and soymilk) then you could try eliminating soy for a bit to see if that helps.

Also, obviously keep your face clean. Wash twice a day with a glycerin based soap. I like Trader Joe's tea tree oil face wash.

u/judgmental_platypus · 3 pointsr/Accutane

Thank you so much! I have a fairly simple, natural routine. Wash face with Sea buckthorn and tea tree bar soap, use a light astringent like witch hazel after, in the morning I’ll use a few drops of pure rose hip oil that I massage in, then just Cetaphil moisturizer. At night it’s the same thing except I use sea buckthorn and tamanu facial oil from Chagrin Valley instead of the rose hip oil. When I need a gentle exfoliant I use Lush’s Angels on bare skin and a cucumber mask for added hydration right after, I do this 2x a week. I hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

u/Sparkelle227 · 3 pointsr/AskMen

For really dry face skin, I would use the following:

  1. Rosehip oil (5 drops)

  2. Belif moisturizing bomb moisturizer

  3. Laneige water sleeping mask at night

Those are a few of my tried-and-true products, but your mileage may vary. Hop on over to /r/Skincare_Addiction and find out what would suit your skin best! Everyone has different skincare needs, and that sub has a treasure trove of knowledge.

I use jojoba oil. This is the one I'm using currently, but any pure jojoba oil will do. It is very cost-effective and a bottle like the one I've linked will last me about 6 months.

Jojoba oil is similar in composition to human sebum, so while it's an oil, it doesn't feel heavy on my face. I've been using it for about a year and have noticed that my skin is a lot softer and clearer. Plus, it's multipurpose and relatively cheap, so you can use it in your hair or on your body as well.

ETA: If you want to experiment using different kind of oils, you can get sample packs from Garden of Wisdom.

u/fuckgenres · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This one! It has doubled in price since I last purchased but that was over a year ago... a bottle lasts forever. Looking around, there are a lot more/better options now like this one with a pump (and it's cheaper for almost same size of bottle).

u/Repzie_Con · 3 pointsr/nailbiting

Lol, Im glad to be a the bearer of good news. Heres the one I use, works fine, and although its small you only need a little bit to flood the cuticle.

If you want to go all in, I also make my own cuticle oil so the skin dries up less, so I dont feel the need to pick at it. I use a mix of jojoba oil w/ vitamin e oil to make it the consistency I want. While its not completely necessary, vitamin e is good for your skin and thickness for application/less runoff. Then put it in a brush pen for easier application and potability so I can have one wherever. You dont need to use the exact ones I have, just this is what I ordered.

u/mariahmce · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This oil is really similar to the Luna oil

After looking at your skincare and assuming you are a dry/normal skin type as you've posted, your routine is very invasive and more suited for an acne prone oily skin. The products you use are excellent because they are dermatologically effective, but you need to cool it with all the chemicals morning and night.

  1. You shouldn't be worrying about what kind of cleanser you use but what kind of moisturiser you use for different seasons. Skin is drier during the winter so you need to use a richer moisturiser. And as you have pale skin it is also important you use a fitting moisturiser for the summer. For your skin type I recommend the hydrating cleanser, the foaming cleanser will be too drying.
  2. BHA/AHA/Retinoids are too invasive for your eye area, stay clear from your eye area unless its an eye cream specifically for your under eyes. The formulation for under eyes and face is slightly different as your under eyes are more sensitive than the rest of your face, do this and you will have less wrinkles in the long run. If you want a good eye cream for dark circles I recommend this french brand.
  3. Sure you can use BHA and AHA on your body but thats just a waste of money and time. The products you use on your face will have little to no effect on your body because the skin on your body is more thicker and resilient. I recommend exfoliating with a naturally derived product and moisturise your body as well because the moisture in your body's skin is as much important as your face. Mixing a few drops of rosehip oil to your moisturiser should help lighten the acne scars lighten over time.
  4. I don't know what kind of skin products you mean, but simplicity is best. Use a moisturiser at night and then sunscreen on top during the day.
  5. You don't need to lotion your whole body because your skin naturally produces oils to protect and moisturise itself. Make sure you do not shower or bathe in hot water because it strips your body from these natural oils, but if you have dry skin use the CeraVe lotion.
  6. You will be more efficient and less messy as you become used to cleansing, grow a pair and suck it up.
  7. Never self medicate or diagnose yourself with products you've researched on the internet, if you have rashes on your beard it is most likely because of the type of razor you use. You need to make sure you change your razor as frequently as possible (prevent bacterial infection) and also make sure the razor isn't too rough on your skin. Rashes could also be because your skin is dry (moisturise) or clogged follicles (use tea tree oil with your moisturiser).
  8. Your normal moisturiser should be fine.
  9. We don't actually reapply sunscreen, but we have sunscreen built into our foundation as well, so there is another layer of protection when we go out. Just make sure you carry a hat with you on extremely hot days, and wash your face and reapply sunscreen if you sweat during the day.
  10. I prefer the pump as tubs are tricky to use in that you could contaminate the whole tub by dipping your fingers in. Pump is more hygienic and you can add a few drops of oil to your lotion if you want extra moisture.
u/selfobstructs · 3 pointsr/DIYBeauty

Within the past month, I purchased some rose hip oil (off of Amazon, too!), and it has a sort of planty/earthy smell to it, that I wouldn't call fishy. I keep mine in the fridge to prolong the shelf life.

I haven't tried any additions for scent reduction, except adding it to my moisturizer, and that seems to lessen the planty/earthy scent a little (but not very much).

I purchased this particular one, that is only rosehip oil; no mix. It's nice, but it is A LOT of oil; I use like a drop on my face once a day in the morning, and a little goes a long way for me. I'd probably buy a smaller one next time.

u/crashrope94 · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

To preface: I'm white, but I have long hair and a beard so I know a little about hair care.

The problem might be that your hair isn't hydrated enough and it's pulling the oils from your scalp. A helmet rubbing on a dry scalp can cause skin to flake off when it normally wouldn't. I get this on my cheeks sometimes when I take my helmet off.

My beard and your hair probably have a similar texture in terms of how coarse they are.
It'll look like dandruff, and I guess technically it is, but as long as it doesn't happen all day every day then it's probably not medically dandruff.

I've found that [beard oil] (https://www.cremocompany.com/collections/beard-oil) helps keep it from happening to me and I'm sure they make something similar (but unscented) for hair like yours. It doesn't leave it oily or greasy feeling, it just hydrates the hair a little extra and lets the helmet slide against it without pulling on it. Maybe something like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Leven-Rose-Pressed-Unrefined-Moisturizer/dp/B00GJX58PE?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAINYWQL7SPW7D7JCA&tag=aboutcom02liveabout-20&linkCode=sp1&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00GJX58PE&ascsubtag=400431%7Cgoogle.com%7C%7C%7C%7C1%7C) would work for you. It won't give you any kind of sheen, but it would definitely make your hair smoother so if that's not your look then I'd pick another kind of oil.

Extra virgin olive oil is one I've heard people swear by, but you run the risk of smelling like an Olive Garden. Coconut or Castor oil are some other options. I discovered hair oil on a trip to Jamaica when I had some itchy face and dandruff going on from the humidity and an old lady gave me some castor oil, changed my life.

EDIT: I forgot the most important thing. TALK TO YOUR BARBER. I guarantee if you're a regular at a barber that's not working at Great Clips he's run into this issue before. He can either point you toward an oil to use for your scalp or identify it as dandruff that needs treatment.

u/HermesLurkin · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I get mine on [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NCF7206/ref=mp_s_a_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1491889018&sr=8-7&keywords=rosehip+oil&dpPl=1&dpID=41vBoE4VNzL&ref=plSrch) and I really like it. I can't do creams so I mix it into my gel moisturizer as a final step, PM only, usually 1 drop, sometimes 2. Have found that more than 2 drops is too much.

u/sarahsayssoo · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

it's not bad. I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IP42FBA and it's lasting pretty well. Just a pump or two per leg. I used coconut oil before this too

Trader Joe's Tea Tree Oil Face Wash. It doesn't get rid of all the demons, but it's so much less irritating the benzoyl peroxide and salacilic acid and works very well. I have a spot treatment for cystic zits from the doctor and I moisturize with a mattifying moisturizer (I use Body Shop's Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream), since I have somewhat oily skin.

u/lilmammamia · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I got the Pur360. I did not find it it did much to acne scars, though, and it's quite thick and I suspect a little pore-clogging too. I had to mix it with rosehip oil in a little roll-on bottle and only apply it to scars. I was curious to try out different oils and was not too impressed by tamanu oil. WIll stick to rosehip oil, my first love.

Yes, it's the carrier. I use this rosehip oil, and this neem oil. You can use any carrier of your choosing, I prefer rosehip because it's great for oily skin, and it also helps with acne scarring and evening out skin tone.

I make my own oil, it's really easy, cost effective, and I can control what's in it (especially scent).

My home brew shopping list:

  • Organic Argan Oil - 4oz/$16.99
  • Organic Jojoba Oil - 4oz/$16.99
  • Organic Sweet Almond Oil - 2oz/$19.99

This works out to 10oz of oil for $54, or $5.40/oz. Comparatively, I was paying anywhere from $10 to $20 per ounce of store bought oils. I'm Canadian and shit tends to cost more here, so I'm not sure how this works out for folks based in other countries.

My recipe is simple - 2tbs Argan, 2tbs Jojoba, 1tbs Almond, then two or three drops of sandlewood essential oil (I've actually been using a half dropper of leftover Rocky Mountain Sandlewood beard oil (that was overwhelming undiluted) for my last few batches. This gives me roughly 2.5oz's and fits perfectly into an older beard oil bottle w/dropper that I've been reusing.

I came to this solution after trying a bunch of other oil blends and it works well for my skin and hair. I don't like my beard to be shiny, I don't want it to feel oily (or my hands if I'm running them through), and this blend is the best that I've come up with.
I still might try to split my jojoba with something that's a bit less waxy at some point in the future, but it isn't a problem and winter is coming so it doesn't hurt to have an oil that's a bit heavier.

The labour required to make a single 2oz batch of oil is minimal. Open a few bottles, measure out a few tablespoons, close a few bottles, then give your blend a shake.

My favourite store bought oil is the Honest Amish Premium, but it was costing me $18/oz

rosehip oil is good for regenerating the skin, so for scarring, pigmentation, fine lines and aging. you just put it on your face before you go to bed. not OP so i don't know what brand she uses, i just use one i got from a local health store. you can get it fairly cheap on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Radha-Beauty-Rosehip-Oil-Certified/dp/B00LNOV8JO/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1500981726&sr=1-4&keywords=rosehip+seed+oil

I have redness from drying out my skin/ destroying my moisture barrier (used Differin without moisturizing properly omfg why). I think your routine is simple, but could do with more hydration layers!

I got rid of all actives for 2 months. I simply washed my face with Cerave Hydrating Cleanser, Hada Lobo Hydrating Lotion, CosRX 97% Snail Mucin Essence, The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Cream, and then Etude House Soonjun Recovery Barrier Cream.

I think the red marks are there as inflammation and irritation. I would add some sort of Hyaluronic Acid (Hada Lobo Hada Lobo Gokujun Hylaronic Acid Moist) to help attract water and promote hydration instead of drying out the skin. Put this in the morning and night after cleansing, and then layer your serums, essences, and moisturizer on top of it.

In addition, maybe changing Cetaphil to Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (if you are interested- I personally found Cetaphil way too drying and exacerbating my redness).

Finally, I would also look into Innisfree Green Tea Serum to reduce redness. Many MANY people have said great things about Rosehip Oil. For me, Rosehip Oil was the game changer- it reduced redness dramatically (it's still there, but I don't look like I'm wearing red pain on my cheeks- and I'm a brown-skinned girl, so redness just stands out). I'm thriving off a sample of Pai Rosehip Oil. It's $40, so once my sample runs out, I think I'm going to hop on the Radha Rosehip Oil train.

Finally, you should add some sort of sleep mask to help with restoring your skin barrier. I just got Laneige Sleep Mask to help with hydration.

The Etude House Soonjung Line is really good for calming redness- I'm personally thinking about adding the Pathenoside Cica Balm to help with redness.

In addition, I've heard great thing about Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream.

P.S.: Don't add all of these products at once. I'm on month two of restoring my moisture barrier after eliminating all actives. When I added in a new product, I focused on adding one product per week. If I saw after the week my face got worse, I eliminated it.

As long as it says those words, I look for the cheapest, the Last one I got was [jojoba oil] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A74442I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Q1G3Cb6N4RSGS)

What's a good moisturizer for oily/sensitive skin? I use cetaphil cleanser with cetaphil moisturizer but the moisturizer leaves my skin looking to greasy and I seem to develop pimples/acne more when I use the moisturizer than when I just use the cleanser. I've heard rosehip seed oil is good for this kind of skin, would something like this be good? If my skin is still too greasy-looking, should I only moisturize at night or something?

My wife runs a hair salon and had me try Jojoba oil cause nothing else was working for me. It has done a amazing job at cutting down the flakes and most of the itching. This is the stuff I ordered and gonna order it again.

I second Firefox's confern about washing off the sunscreen. I have reactive skin and a gentle, emulsifying oil cleanser followed by the foaming cleanser works best. Asian sunscreens are not thoroughly removed bu regular foaming cleansers alone.

Mineral oil should be ok, but it is hard as hell to wash off, that's why I stopped using it. I had good luck with perfect oil but may look for something else when I finish the bottle

It doesn't smell at all - I don't think, at least? I'm sitting here trying to recall if it smelled this morning, haha. I'm sure that it has a scent but nothing memorable. This stuff is an orangey color. I also use it to remove my makeup. I used belief before I tried this oil and I don't plan on going back anytime soon.

u/DarkDubzs · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Retin-A, Sulfur, and BP will really dry your skin out, I was on them and personally know (the worst was when my skin was constantly flaky) and dry skin means oily skin. If you are stripping your face's natural moisture and irritating it like that, your oil production will rise in an attempt to moisturize the skin. This isn't what you want. So, you need to moisturize well day and night to keep your skin hydrated; basically, it keeps your skin hydrated and it does not need to produce much oil (sebum) to moisturize itself since it is already hydrated from your moisturizing habit. I know it may not make sense, adding moisturizer to oily skin, but that is what you need to do for oil production to slow down.

Moisturizer should be the last step in your regimen. As you know, cleanse, apply treatment(s), moisturize. Apply more moisturizer and re-apply throughout the day if you notice your skin is drying out, even if it gets oily.

I recommend you switch to CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser instead of their foaming cleanser. It did a lot for me when I had dry skin. Their Moisturizing Lotion is also a bit light, it is good for day use, but at night you want to moisturize your skin as best as possible... for this I recommend Cerave Moisturizing Cream. Lastly, you can add a few drops of Jojoba Oil to your moisturizer at night for a great hydration boost. I know how it may sound crazy to add oil with your oily skin.
If you decide to add Jojoba Oil (which I highly suggest), look for "100% pure" in the name. Like this, which is even better since it comes in a dropper bottle.

I use a few drops of rosehip oil mixed in with my moisturizer AM and PM. I find that my skin feels more moisturized than using moisturizer alone or using the two separately. Not the miraculous results others have seen, but it's a part of my routine that I plan on keeping. I started with a small bottle of Oilology that I had gotten for a few dollars at Marshalls, and recently ordered a larger bottle of Radha Beauty off of Amazon.

u/itspruehalliwell · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You should! I use this one I bought a couple months ago. The bottle is HUGE and since you only need 2-3 drops, it lasts forever. There’s a ton of other name-brand options, too. Good luck!

I know this is an old thread, but I saw your question never really got answered.

Carrier oil, the oil that makes up the majority of your mix, can probably be found your local health food store, organic grocery, hippie/smoke shop or maybe even Fred Meyer. You can also get essential oils from the same places. They're the oil that puts off the smell, and they can have benefits in themselves.

Or honestly you can order everything you need from Amazon.

Jojoba oil (carrier oil):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GJX58PE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?qid=1464522016&sr=8-1&keywords=jojoba+oil&pi=SY200_QL40

Cederwood oil (essential oil):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000MGWIMK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?qid=1464522084&sr=8-1&keywords=cedarwood+oil&pi=SY200_QL40

Tea tree oil (essential oil):

Start with an ounce (30ml) of jojoba oil, add the tea tree and cederwood oils in one drop each at a time.

This should get you started, from here it's just about experimenting and figuring out what you like

Any one you want as long as it's not a face wash . I would recommend you buy a good 2.5 percent one and apply it every night. They also sell small tubes if you want to try that for spot treatment. But I recommend you buy one and apply it every night before you go to sleep, if your skin gets dry then wait until it gets better and apply again, your skin will get used to it as long as your not allergic to it. And stick to it for a few months cause it takes a while to work, you should see improvement. [I use this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009A291L8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501960981&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=benzoyl+peroxide+tea+tree+oil&psc=1) . Also patch test anything to make sure you're not allergic, your face is important, don't just lather random chemicals unto it

Prepare her with all the hydrating products you possibly can! Here are some I rely on to get through the day:

  • Aquaphor Healing Ointment. If her nose gets dry and begins bleeding through the night (happened to me 2 months in) put a little bit in the nostrils before bed. I use this for my lips because they will get progressively more dry and cracked throughout the course.
  • CeraVe products work well for me (facial cleanser, moisturizer, and night cream)
  • Eye drops. I had severe dry eye that caused blurry vision 1 month in. I was told to stop wearing my contacts and use non-preservative eyedrops (artificial tears)
  • For help with clearing up the scarring/redness, I would suggest using Organic Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil, which can be found on Amazon. This is the one I use. The Ordinary is also a good brand -- they have Rosehip Oil, as well as a Hyaluronic Acid which is GREAT for keeping the skin hydrated.
  • If she's going to wear makeup, using hydrating products is a must! I posted a comment on this thread with more info

    I hope this helps!

Also, at one point I was drinking two gallons of water per day lol

Well, my face WAS super dry and sensitive, and here's what I've found...

Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel 1.7oz (3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMOTTYG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DYmvxbKJXB9P8 this cleanser is a godsend. It has no smell, and is this clear gel that is so gentle. Afterwards, my face is much happier than before.

Leven Rose Organic 100% Pure Cold Pressed Unrefined Natural Jojoba Oil, 4 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJX58PE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QZmvxbKK9N3M6 I dont think it needs to be this brand, but this stuff is my absolute secret weapon. It mimics face oils and my skin can't be dry with this. In the morning, I put it on and then rinse it partway off with water, while in the evening I wait the 20min it takes to sink in. You can also use it for OCM. I use it before my cleanser as OCM, and after the simple cleanser as a moisturizer, but before anything else.

SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule All Skin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BO10SQ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Q2mvxbBC14QX4 this stuff is an asian beauty product, and heavily recommended on r/asianbeauty . It comes in a huge jar and lasts forever. the ingredients are crazy good, and I figured you may like it since you wanted to try honey. It's light and moisturizing, and the honey makes it antibacterial. Also, it has niacinimides, which are great for redness and staying young. I use it to prevent acne and make my skin happy, but it's the only part of my routine I could probably live without (but I wouldnt want to)

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream, Extra Dry Skin, 1.7 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NR1YQK4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_z7mvxbK58XK4T this stuff has the best texture! It's like silk. Make sure you buy the 'gel cream' and not the 'watery gel'. It was the first moisturizer I found that I've ever liked. No fatty alcohol, not sticky, but not too light. It's a little more expensive than I would like, but I simply can't do without. It's my favorite part of my routine and it leaves my face with a great finish.

When my face was less hydrated in general, I found that the hydro boost and SCINIC honey AIO stung for a few seconds after application, but they dont anymore now that I dont have microcuts everywhere. Also, with all three moisturizers on at night, my face feels a little warm at first, but that's just because of the layers, and doesnt last long. It takes a long time for it all to sink in, so it's more of a night pack. In the morning, just one or two of the products is enough (must include the hydro boost). I cant promise that these will work for you, but I haven't seen anybody have problems with these yet. Good luck!

That's what I use but there's other options that are all also 4.5 stars, so they probably also work well.

I use witch hazel and rosehip oil every morning and night and it helps with evening out the skin tone and with acne scars. I also recommend vitamin c serum which you can get for a good price on amazon from Tree of Life Beauty. Vitamin C serum is both anti aging and will even out your skin and will protect it from the sun. The reviews on the ToLB one are really good. vitamin c rosehip oil i use

P.s. tea tree oil didn’t really do anything for me and if you want a good face mask I recommend this one with Apple cider vinegar added in. Don’t use it daily or it will dry your skin out.

I've decided to get more serious in trying to combat by PIH and need some help in formulating a new skincare routine. I usually do my routine every 2 days after I shower and am treating PIH primarily on my chest, back and shoulders. Whatever I plan on using on my face I was also planning on using there too.

My main problem is trying to figure out when to apply a Brooklyn Botany Vitiman C Serum, TO Niacinamide, and Rosehip Oil. My theorized routine is as follows:

-----

CeraVe SA Body Wash

Eucerin In-Shower Body Lotion

Alpha Skin Care Body Lotion, 12% Glycolic AHA

To Ordinary Arbutin

CeraVa Moisturizing Cream (for face, back, shoulder and chest)

Some other generic lotion for everywhere else

Sunscreen

-----

Where should I fit the Serum, Niacinamide and Rosehip Oil, and why? I've been reading that the Serum could come after AHA, but it interferes with Niacinamide, which I have no idea where that would go and why it interferes. I also read that the Rosehip Oil can be mixed with my Moisturizing Cream; just add a few drops.

edit and addition - My current routine is a simple body wash, Alpha Skin Care AHA 10% and some Hydroquinone cream (both on face, shoulder, back and chest), Moisturize then Aloe Vera. My skin type is also pretty normal, it didn't break out or anything when I first ever introduced the AHA, and with age my skin has seemed to become stable; I don't break out very often anymore, just recovering.

u/thetrufflesiveseen · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Out of curiosity, how old are you? It seems like a lot of us go through some major hormonal shifts in our late 20s and early 30s that cause this to pop up unexpectedly. It sucks because if it it is hormonal, it's harder to deal with than if it's just caused by a product. Products you can eliminate, hormones sadly you can't!

Anyway, here's what seems to be helping me:

Tretinoin/Retin-A (most likely must be prescribed by a doctor)

Spironolactone (another prescription)

GENTLE cleanser (right now I'm using the Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam, it's only been a few days but I really like it so far)

Glycolic acid/AHA (I'm using a 14% glycolic acid serum in the morning but beginners should probably start at a lower percentage)

BHA (I use the 2% Stridex pads but there are gentler options out there - like Paula's Choice)

A combination tea tree oil/benzoyl peroxide product - I use this one as a spot treatment, but it's supposedly gentle enough to put all over your face.

SNAILS: I'm using the Mizon Snail Gel and the Benton Steam Cream, but the Mizon All-In-One Snail Repair Cream might be a good substitute for the Benton if you're steering clear of Benton. I don't think it prevents acne but my spots seem to heal a lot faster when I'm using snails twice a day. Plus my skin just seems happier when it's properly moisturized, and I feel like maybe happy skin is less acne-prone.

I also use the Missha FTE in the morning and the Missha Long Name Ampoule at night, and while I have no idea if they're helping with acne, I can say since I put this whole routine together my cystic acne has decreased quite a bit. Some might say it's mostly the Retin-A and spironolactone, but I was on those for months before I added the Korean stuff, and once I added the Korean stuff my breakouts got almost immediately better. I've had two spots in the last month; before I had 5-6 spots on my face at any given time.

Anyway, I have no idea if it'll help anyone, but here's my whole routine:

AM:

Wake up and pop my spironolactone pills

Hop in the shower, wash my face with Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam

Missha Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence

Alpha Hydrox Intensive Serum 14% Glycolic AHA, I ALTERNATE this every other day with a Vitamin C serum (Mad Hippie). If I do the glycolic acid serum every day, my skin gets flakey

(Eat breakfast, make coffee, wait 20 minutes)

The Face Shop Chia Seed Moisture-Holding Seed Essence

Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

Create Cosmetics Tea Tree Oil and 3% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment (on my spots only, I try to wait about 10 minutes before I put on sunblock)

Innisfree Eco Safety No Sebum Sunblock (SPF35/PA+++)

PM:

Oil cleanse with pure evening primrose oil (this seems to be wonderfully calming and hydrating for me)

Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam

Stridex pads, just where I break out - chin/jawline

Wait 15 or 20 minutes - not sure it's necessary but I like to do it

Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule

Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream (sometimes mixed with a little marula oil)

Wait 15 or 20 minutes

Tretinoin/Retin-A

Create Cosmetics Tea Tree Oil and 3% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment on any spots

Sometimes a layer of Aquaphor or Vaseline

I also started taking zinc (as zinc monomethionine or "Optizinc"), 5,000 IUs of vitamin A, turmeric, regular fish oil, and fermented cod liver oil (which is expensive and only made by one or two companies, at least here in the US, but is chock full of good stuff we otherwise don't get a lot of - like Vitamin K2).

Sorry I just wrote a book. :/

I also have a ton of samples I'm currently testing so I'll post reviews later on. So far I've tried the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask and I really like it. Will probably start doing that once a week.

ETA: I don't mean to suggest that this routine is any kind of acne cure, but I shared it because I have been honestly SO PLEASED with how dramatically it's decreased my cystic spots. It has been such a surprise to me.

u/Scraptastic13 · 1 pointr/Parenting

I personally use these things all from amazon. Works amazing. I rub it on my cuticles once a day. Within a week they looked so healthy and amazing. Massage it into your cuticles for just a few minutes. So worth it.

Exfoliant: Neutrogena Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub

I'm looking into using my mom's clay mask once weekly, would this replace my neutrogena as an exfoliant? - its a Nurta-lift kaolin one, so i can just use water with it. It's this: https://www.amazon.com/Pharmagel-Nutra-Lift-Facial-Masque-6oz/dp/B005IAZNKO/ .

I'm also going to buy this rosehip oil to use after my Moisturizer. Does it look good? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LNOV8JO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2GFWEEOABZ6DB&psc=1 .

I use the plain old bodywash provided by the gym in their showers, but the key is to really hydrate with lotion after you get out of the shower and dry off.

I use this stuff all over my body, this stuff on my knees, elbows and bottoms of my feet and this stuff on my hair. Seems to do the trick- skin stays nice and soft and I no longer get comments saying, "you smell like a pool." Oh, also shower BEFORE the pool so you're wet when you get in, helps protect your hair from absorbing the chlorine.

Unless your skin is very dry you could probably get away with just an oil afterwards, if you don’t have the time/money to get a moisturizer right now. Like I said, the one I use is the Acure brand argan oil (available on Amazon for $6.44 https://www.amazon.com/Acure-Essentials-Argan-Fluid-Ounce/dp/B004DTQ9L8 ) you only need 2-3 drops so a bottle will last a long time!

Also available in places like Target, natural grocery stores, etc. I even found some at TJ Maxx recently! ( which is actually a really good place to look for some great skincare finds!)

u/screambledeggs · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I sniffed mine earlier and it doesn't have the odor you're referring to. That's really odd... Maybe you got a dud? :/

Teddy Organics make a good one too. Both have the same effect, but I prefer Life Flo because it's cheaper.

u/hoseokked · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Are you talking about this Shiseido oil or this one? Pretty stark price difference!

Ummm, I know cold pressed is supposed to be better. Lots of people use TO'S. I've just been using this one off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9XS6B6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rhoUCb7W7X2NF

Is this a good dupe for Sunday Riley Luna?

Would I be better served to get TO lactic acid and TO granactive retinoid to try to dupe Luna and Good Genes? Which strengths?

I bought deluxe SR samples but thinking about paying for the full sizes gives me heartburn.

u/smalltransitorylife · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Has anyone used Radha Rosehip Seed Oil? I'm trying to choose a substitute from the list of TO dupes that is affordable / bulk / not fake / ships free with Amazon Prime. Price seems a little bit too good to be true, so just wanted to get a few opinions first! :)

u/_-Mayday-_ · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I try to keep mine simple while still doing what I can to prevent further damage. I didn't take care of my skin at all in my 20s so I'm undoing damage now, but the vitamin C serum and sunscreen combo have helped a ton. I have fairly sensitive skin, and it gets easily dehydrated as well.

Morning

u/DontQuixote · 1 pointr/eczema

hey you should use tamanu Oil Just put it once a day and it will get rid of your eczema, not as in get rid of but it will make it go away while you put it. also keep it moisturized like Fuck

u/Ganrokh · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Thanks for your feedback. I figured that that that was the case - that my skin was experiencing being bare for the first time in a couple years, but I wasn't sure if the peeling was because my skin was missing something or if it was "normal" for it to peel for a bit just after a big shave.

So, would this be okay to buy?

Hi there!

I just wanted to let you know that Automod has removed your comment because it contains an Amazon referral link, which we don't allow in the sub.

Could you please edit the URL so that everything from (and including) "tag=" is removed? That way, the product page will still be visible - but no one can make a profit from the link. Here's the tag-free URL for an easy copy & paste:

https://www.amazon.com/Aria-Starr-Rosehip-Pressed-Scars/dp/B01N9XS6B6/

If you've done that, please reply to this message so I can approve your comment. Thank you!

I had acne for a number of years. It's different for everyone, but when I stopped using harsh chemicals that nuked my face and started using an oil based cleanser with tea tree oil, I stopped getting all acne. It's magic. If you live near a Trader Joes, they sell it for $5 or so. Meijer and kroger in the Midwest sells a similar brand called Desert Essence. It smells weird and hurts if it gets in your eyes but it works. Bonus points if you get some jojoba oil from the same skincare line and use it after as a moisturizer. It seems counterintuitive to use oil to clean a broken out face but it seriously works. It changed my life. My skin usually adapts to cleansers after 6 months or so but this stuff still works after a year.

Edit : added link. It's way cheaper in stores than in Amazon. Trader Joe's SPA Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil 8.5 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0074MNCDY/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_g.dfvb07WPWAP

Okay, to be fair, no I have not tried her pure argan oil. I have tried her whipped argan oil body butter though, and I can honestly say I found the product to be a disappointment. It does not live up to the hype or the price. You can buy organic, cold pressed argan oil much cheaper from other brands -- which is my suggestion. I love argan oil but Josie Maran is not my favorite brand for it. (And on that subject, here are some argan oils I have used and loved: one and two.)

u/xcatglitter · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I like marula for my sensitive skin. There are cheaper options than DE—I liked but didn’t love theirs. I’m curious about this one I’ve seen recommended but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Here's the link to the Rosehip I use from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Radha-Beauty-USDA-Certified-Organic/dp/B00LNOV8JO/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1527706730&sr=1-5&keywords=rosehip

Would you mind taking a look and letting me know if this is what the TO one is? Again I'm confused by the labeling of "Rosehip" versus "Rosehip Seed." If there's a difference I want to get the TO one.

u/YourWaterloo · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I just bought it on amazon - I got this one just based on the good reviews.

u/doingthedo · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Hope people see this, I need help...

u/photoaday_ · 1 pointr/RedditLaqueristas

This is the brand of jojoba oil I have. I tried to smell it more since you'd asked and its just very neutral? It sort of barely has a scent if you're looking for it (or if you use a ton).

u/-babs- · 1 pointr/muacjdiscussion

This one with Glamoflauge foundation.

u/savethaplanet · 1 pointr/acne

I use this one

Number 1 best seller in facial oils!

u/smallfoxx · 0 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I agree with greenbudha's comment, natural oils are the way to go for dry skin if you're looking for a more natural yet effective approach. I started using argan oil 6 months ago for dry skin and never looked back. I recently discovered rose hip oil as well to use on my skin at night. If you have never used these oils before, you could test a small amount on your skin in case you have a different reaction to these oils. Here are the products I use:

Argan Oil: http://www.amazon.com/Poppy-Argan-Oil-Responsibly-Multi-Purpose/dp/B00D3M0CRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422219590&sr=8-1&keywords=argan+oil+poppy+austin&pebp=1422219592532&peasin=B00D3M0CRS
