Moen (that is a Moen Chateau shower valve) makes a one and two inch stem extension kit for shower valves using a 1225 cartridge, they also make an adapter kit so you can use new trim with older valves; replace your cartridge while you are at it. When looking for new trim, search "Moentrol trim" on Google.

Yeah no... /u/icedevil500 is wrong - yes you can buy adaptors, they are made of rubber however and slip onto your adaptor, no threads required. You may need to replace it after it dries/wears out... Make sure you find one that fits the diameter of your adaptor spout. You can find one at a lowes/home depot, or on amazon
