sounds like you need to load up your Retinol and Vitamin D stores. Find local farms and only buy from ones that meet your standards for animal treatment. Ruminants are extremely important for holistic farming and bringing life back to the land.

Sweet. Also be careful returning to activity, but I'm sure you've read up on it. Hope you heal up quick!!

The tablets can give you fishy burps (gross), which is why I like the liquid. Keep it in the fridge. You can buy bottles at most regular grocery stores or any health food store. http://www.amazon.com/Carlson-Finest-Liquid-Omega-3-Orange/dp/B001LF39S8

Ultimately intelligent training and proper recovery and mobility work will give probably the biggest benefit to your joints. However when bodyweight training or simply aiming to be healthier it is important to have low levels of inflammation. Glucosamine can help but a solid omega 3 supplement would be similar. I'd personally recommend the following as a joint stack.

Collagen - Can by in a collagen hydrolysate form which is powdered (here) or simply drink a good bone/chicken broth daily. Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body and the one found in your joints. among other places. I'd recommend 10g a day, you can add to shakes or even cups of tea or coffee as it is heat stable. Alternatively drink 1-2 cups of bone broth a day. I personally have the bone broth daily and collagen every now and again.

Omega 3/Cod Liver Oil - To generally lower inflammation. I prefer a good cod liver oil, like this as it comes with those good omega 3's and a load of fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, K2 etc. I take 1 tsp daily. Consuming oily fish daily can give the same effect.

Curcumin Phytosome - Curcumin is a turmeric extract that is a very powerful anti-inflammatory, I personally take this daily and feel huge help with inflammation compared to when I don't. 500mg of a good extract daily. Consuming just turmeric isn't as good as you'd have to take like 20g of it, it's also not particularly well absorbed.

Vitamin C - This helps your body synthesize it's own collagen. Buy it in a crystal form of L-Ascorbic acid. Would recommend 1-3g daily taken throughout the day.

Generally have a good diet that is low in inflammatory foods, like grains (wheat, oats, barley), pasteurized dairy, seed oils (rapeseed/canola, sunflower), processed foods and sugar, but high in oily fish, good quality meat, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruit and raw dairy :)

Its really hard, i completely understand. You are not a lost cause, there is something out there that will work for you, you just have to find it. Also be sure to work on identifying any lifestyle factors that may be contributing. This includes physical health issues such as vitamin D deficiency, thyroid hormone imbalance, vitamin/mineral deficiency, lack of omega 3s in your diet (a person with depression should be taking 1-2g of a high quality omega 3 supplement daily (with a meal) which contains roughly around 60% EPA, 40% DHA. heres one that fits that description, a person with depression should take 3 per day. For those people (like myself) who eat a plant based diet, i take these which are omega 3s extracted from algae (fish have omega 3s because they eat algae). I also take a vitamin D3 supplement daily because i can't get enough sun naturally, and i keep a calcium/magnesium/zinc complex and multi-vitamin in my cabinet to take a few times a week on those days when I have been really busy and haven't had time to eat until i get home late, and know that the one meal I'm having cant provide me with everything i need so I'll take some calcium and a multi after dinner to just throw in some of those important minerals and vitamins that my brain/body need to keep itself running smoothly.

Sure, glad you've had positive results with exercise!

I provided a link for the protein powder and I think that stuff is the bees fucking knees :)

For sublingual liquid B12, I'm taking this - is also the same brand I use for liquid vitamin D.

For the high DHA omega, I take Barleans fish oil - they make a liquid supplement that tastes like a creamsicle!

Choline is typically included in the B complex family and can be easily be found in a health food store or online; inositol is a bit more complicated but can typically be found combined with choline.

I noticed the most profound effect with the B12. When I'd be having a fit and took a xanax, a feeling of relief would wash over me and I'd usually exhale, like sinking into a comfy chair butttt I'd be high/intoxicated; I notice a similar relaxing "Ahhh" effect once the B12 kicks in, minus the negative intoxicating effects.

Hope this helps!

Physician perspective:

I try to supplement with up to 10 grams daily. This is a big dose that freaks people out. However, it's fat. We eat a lot of fat. Way more than 10 grams. And this fat is unequivocally more healthy than what's usually found in the western diet.

A recent NEJM article that made an impact:
http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe1301582

Getting this much Omega 3+6 is very difficult to do with a western diet. And it's difficult to do with the pills, which are unpleasant. I use this stuff:

http://www.amazon.com/Barleans-Organic-Oils-8-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B002VLZ89Y

Tastes good enough that it can be drunk straight from the bottle. I try to drink a few tablespoons whenever I open the refrigerator.

u/projhex · 2 pointsr/Fitness

I take these ones and though I don't get fish burps, I get weird off-lemon burps.

u/sksS13 · 1 pointr/Fitness

1g/lb for Protein and .5g/lb of Fat.

The Wiki will tell that your essential fatty acids must be met within this limit before other types of fats should be considered, yet it doesn't tell you exactly how much of each essential fatty acid you need. According to this, you want to aim for 2-3g/day omega-3 and 20g/day omega-6. Basically, 2 fish oil soft gels and 100g of pecans or any nut at a quantity that will yield that amount of omega-6.

Remainder of calories go towards carbohydrates. I would also recommend taking 5,000-6,000IU of Vitamin D3 and half a serving of Animal Pak everyday.

I've been buying this one after comparing a lot of different brands. This is the best value and you cant get anything better for the price. However if you are willing to pay quite a lot more you can get a better product (just check labdoor.com and see whats available in the UK).

Tbh I would rather buy this fish oil and eat a lot of it (3-5 capsules/ day) than get less of more expensive one

Not a doctor of any kind but personally I use [One A Day Mens Health Formula] (https://www.amazon.com/One-Mens-Health-Formula-Tablets/dp/B000CEEASC) and Fish Oil Omega 3 from Natural Riches daily.

Another note; there is no perfect multivitamin that will make getting vitamins from food obsolete, to stay healthy you steel need a good diet of foods even with the best vitamin pills, so try your best even if you have a broke wallet like me :/

Dude, first of all, thank you for pointing me to examine.com. Definitely going to be my new go-to for nutrition related info.

Good idea about doing a blood test. My diet is not proper, so I'm sure I'd be deficient in many of the micronutrients, especially B-complex vitamins, but it's better to do a test and take medication accordingly. For now testing CoBaDex CZS suggested by /u/Don_Michael_Corleone for a week.

I don't consume fish and other major sources of omega-3 fatty acides such as flaxseed, so I'm sure that I'm deficient. I'll start small and see how that goes. Going with this for now: http://www.amazon.in/St-Botanica-Fish-Double-Strength-Omega/dp/B01DGO76N0

Thank you for this contest, you have a generous boss and are super generous yourself.

I really need this [hard drive] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005T3GRLY?colid=3H4BZNET2W15O&coliid=I2RX9V0EGNQ9E2&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) to replace the one that died on my desktop computer. I miss having an actual desktop to work with.

I would really love [this blanket] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014TTDCRU?colid=3H4BZNET2W15O&coliid=I2Z14OKOF997I6&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl)... I'm tired of "throws" they just aren't doing it for me any more... I want something that covers me from feet to neck when I'm sitting on the couch. It's cold!

[Birthday cards!] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006J7DH0I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3H4BZNET2W15O&coliid=I1IM44XIM9JI2J) I want to start sending them out because I know how much it means to me when people remember my birthday.

Okay, I love me some [Cholula] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FDGEIRC?colid=APY6TDVDV6K7&coliid=IN436X04JSH73&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) and I wanna bring it everywhere I go.

Fish oil is good for you and I've checked out both of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OV5M7G?colid=3APJQJG63AMCR&coliid=ILZ4GSPTGN2P6&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) [brands] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FEG9NXK?colid=3APJQJG63AMCR&coliid=I3H00MXNPRC987&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) and I don't know which is best, so I put them both, I hope that's okay!

Thank you again! :-D

Love Myprotein - glad that they've made their way out to the States!

Do you think brand makes a difference though? I used this Norweigan brand which is supposed to be one of the best, and still had heartburn :(

u/Fantasysage · 1 pointr/Fitness

Picked up these:

I have blood work that needs to be done soon, so I will start taking them after that.

This is what I buy

It is always labelled with a production date, which is usually within the last few months every time I buy it. It is orange flavored, but that really won't cover up the oxidized taste. It always tastes fresh, with no fish burps.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

These are the ones I order! They have a 60 pack one that you should totally try out.

Question for you guys. I have chronic inflammation(tendonitis) and i'm doing my best to eat an anti-inflamatory diet. I am currently taking this fish oil twice a day. Is there a better fish oil pill i could be taking for inflammation? I picked this brand because it had the largest dose and was relatively cheap.

Rehband elbow sleeves, also try finger extensions as a rehab for elbow issues, I got a set from ironmind, they are just strong rubberbands: http://www.ironmind-store.com/Expand-Your-Hand-Bands153-10-Bands/productinfo/1376/

EDIT: also will add fish oil for sure, I take a TBSP of this every day without fail, carlsons orange flavored, has zero fish taste or burpy aftertaste as well: http://www.amazon.com/Carlson-Finest-Liquid-Omega-3-Orange/dp/B001LF39S8

It sounds like you really started eating well! That's huge.

A few other supplements that might help with low energy: MCT oil and Omega 3s. I've linked the specific brands I buy because people tend to ask when you suggest supplements. MCT oil is used by your body pretty quickly so you should feel good the first day you take it. It's not so much a boost as it is just a wakefulness feeling. Omega 3s are more of a long term thing and harder to notice day to day, but still useful IMO.

u/DarkSide_of_the_Moon · 0 pointsr/Fitness

If you want the best on the market, I'd go for the most natural oil you can find. Concentrated crap isn't always a good thing. Cod liver oil is the best natural fish source for vitamin D and omega 3. Extra virgin is the best.
