Does it really matter what you mother wants? You are in your 20s. You work. Go buy mens summer clothes and wear them. She doesn't have to like it.
If you don't want shorts you could get some 3/4 joggers and some blank T shirts. Around me I usually get some Gildan T's for a few bucks each. link
These chino shorts seem pretty unisex to me and they will cover your thighs. link
It's right on the border ($25 exactly), but I really dig the Goodthreads chino short if you can find a Lightning deal on it
The chambray shorts from Left Field NYC ($80) and the canvas shorts from Sid Mashburn ($125) are both pretty fantastic. Norse Projects canvas for a little more. Personally, I spend my entire summer wearing 7" Patagonia stand-up shorts. I donated everything else to Goodwill a few years ago, and I haven't regretted it for a second.
Amazon hybrid shorts have zips on the back pockets - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodthreads-Inseam-Hybrid-Short-Shorts/dp/B07JFVWM9P
I actually might pick myself up a pair of those.

Can't find a good picture of what shoes he's wearing!
I only buy and wear shorts with 5-inch inseam or less. Here are a few sources or brands:
-Sportif
-Varick from J. Crew Outlet
-Yimps
-One Amazon seller, also look at the "related items" that come up, there may be more:

Are these not them?
Tommy Hilfiger Mens Chino Shorts (34, Light Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FKYWP15/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ExJ2Cb2WKZDK1
Anyone know of any similar shorts to these? Slightly anti-frugal but would prefer to buy from a non-Amazon with better quality. Looking for something with a slim leg profile (not baggies), 7" or so inseam, nylon/canvas with an elastic waistband. Preferably blacks & grays
You won't be getting the best price or quality but if you have to buy on Amazon they have J Crew Mercantile options.
I want to buy an Amazon Essentials Men's slim fit short. I just have one problem though, and that is that I've never really bought shorts so I don't know what size to get. I'm pretty small (5'5) and a size 28 on the waist Levi jeans fit me well. With this info what size should I get?
Hey everyone,
I have mostly charcoal grey shirts and I am wondering between khaki or stone chino shorts, which one would match best? You can check out both of those colors here

I just bought these shorts from Amazon. They have a really nice stretch. They look similar to Chubbies/Bear Bottoms for a better price.
Okay, I need help finding cheap, slim fit shorts.
I'm picky about my shorts, and sadly it pays to be picky.
I like them short (pretty much short as it goes without making it seem I swing the other way, I think 7" is about perfect), I like them slim. I feel like I can't find that without dishing out close to $50 a pair of shorts.
I figured these would be my savior, but according to the reviews they are still baggy on the leg which is my pet peeve.

Anyone have any advice for tone/chicken legged people like me?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8VVFLP/?coliid=I1AK49JJFIQM5R&colid=116Y89PYRKJ1F&psc=0 hmmm?
Nope, wearing these above the knee shorts.
Any experience with Amazon's [Chino Shorts] (https://smile.amazon.com/Goodthreads-Inseam-Flat-Front-Stretch-Chino/dp/B077RKGB4Y/ref=as_li_ss_tl?th=1&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=dappered-20&linkId=f4e22c88895300799ec44d54a97e258a&language=en_US&sa-no-redirect=1)? Worth the $16 or are there other competitive alternatives to consider?
Amazon Goodthreads linen-cotton shorts. 7" is my preference but they're also available in 9" inseam.
Those just look like your generic pair of shorts and t-shirts that you can find in any department store. The video shows nothing that would distinguish the brand from others.
Edit: Here are some of the first results from google that show basically the same outfit:
shirt
shorts
I really like the Quiksilver Amphibian / hybrid shorts that I own, for very similar purposes. (There's Billabong 'Submersible' ones that I believe are the same fabric, but I don't know for sure.) Depending on which style you get, some of them look basically like khaki shorts or just plain black shorts, but they're super-thin and lightweight (92% polyester, 8% elastane), and dry super quickly.
It's apparently harder to find some of the styles, but here's one example. https://smile.amazon.com/Quiksilver-EQMWS03050-Mens-Vagabond-Amphibian/dp/B073J1WD34/
The only link you provided that I approve of are the Sperry Top-Siders. I found the Ice to be very versatile and the solid black have recieved compliments as they aren't very common. Both versatile. Good with shorts and could even be formal enough for a summer wedding. Oatmeal, Sahara/Brown Buc Brown for a basic, well, brown.
For a watch I'll make a few personal suggestions. Of course, the Timex Easy Reader, Brown & Black. Bonus: Black face. This Seiko for a silver watch and I like this black Citizen Eco Drive as well.
Get some basic chino's in a good slim fit like the Dockers Alpha Khaki and some basic flat front shorts from Patagonia.
American Apparel for some staples. Cut down on your graphic tee's and get some plain stuff! I really like the Tri-Blend 50/25/25 Track Shirt for tee's, so comfortable. The black is actually a really dark grey, because of the nature of 'the blend', I really like it and it matches these dark grey twill plimsolls I have perfectly. They have great thin sweaters and cardigans too, browse what's available on Amazon, go on their website to see better images and what else they offer.
I don't mean to totally disregard your choices, I'm just showing you some items that I like, some good basics, and that's all I can muster before I head to bed.
Also, are you sure you're really a 32 inch waist at 6ft 150lbs?
