I don’t mind - I found it on Amazon after scouring the internet for the perfect floor lamp for a piano. :)

I got this pretty minimal/basic floor lamp from Amazon. It’s really bright and just kind of blends into the background

It's the Brightech Sparq Arc LED Floor Lamp I found off of amazon, because I wanted a bit more desk lighting while I was gaming in both a closed blinded room during the day, and for the night.
Probably the second best purchase of my life on amazon.

Man that's a tough space to work with. Honestly the only thing I think will help with aesthetics is to sell that bookshelf and get a leaning one that's the same color of your TV stand. Try to hang the guitar if possible, and maybe get a different floorlamp that matches your other furniture. I'll link the style of bookshelf and possible lamp style I'm thinking of. Best of luck!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WVH873X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lightweight, adjustable brightness, stows tightly against a wall when not in use. Reaches over the entire width of the card table I do puzzles on.

Former videographer here. Not bad OP! Nice work, good explanation, good tips.

Feedback: You had a really nice intro segment animation, which tells me you really want to get into making videos because those segments cost $$$. So if you want to make these videos look more professional quite easily, get yourself an entry-level DSLR (e.g. Canon T3i), a very good wireless mic (e.g. Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3), and some better natural lighting, nothing crazy, just like two of these (Boston Harbor TL-TREE-134-BK-3L 3-Light Tree Lamp, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003A9E734/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_qSxpDPmTDk8rz ). This would all cost like $1000 or a little less if you shop around and would REALLY take your vids up a notch instantly. Lastly, if you're able to, pick yourself up a copy/subscription of Adobe Premiere Pro CC and start toying around with your videos in there. Learn some tricks, watch some tutorials on YouTube, just play around with your videos in there for a few months. You will definitely learn some tricks and cuts that will make your videos seem much more professional. Then find all the places on the net that your target audience is at (like this subreddit), and share the content directly with them there. Better yet, figure out exactly what they're talking about and wanting, and then make quickly videos in reply and share it directly with them. These are the steps you must take if you truly want success in video.

All that said, your content and attitude is great. Keep it up!!!! Good luck!

u/Neapola · 3 pointsr/Hue

I have a trio or "tree" lamp like this. I have the top two bulbs pointing up and the bottom one pointing down. For me, this works marvelously (my loft has high ceilings). My other lamp is a basic stick lamp.

Hue bulbs work well in just about any lamp, but avoid lampshades with color since the color of the shade would conflict with the color of light coming from the bulb.

OH! And if you have an iPhone, I highly recommend an app called Huemote. The guy who made it did a great job! In many ways, it's better than the official Hue apps. Also, Hue has two official apps. They released a new one but also kept the previous one available. The original Hue app is better than the new one for some things. Definitely mess around with both (they're free).

I use these in the living room and a table lamp version on my nightstands. Simple, professional, really spreads the colors

Great rug! I saw in the comments that you are willing to get rid of the big chair, I think that it would be best to do so. The furniture is too big for the space. Below I put some links for chair suggestions. I also saw that you want lighting suggestions so also put pairings together.

I would also suggest maybe painting the wall behind the couch to help make it pop. If you do get rid of the chair, the couch you need to center on the wall along with the coffee table and have a chair or two in the other side on an angle to it can be a more social space.

For paint colors how about:

SW 6238

SW 6521

SW 9007

Lamp:

One this would be next to the couch with the lamp part over the coffee table

Two this can be used as a side table, you could get two and put them on either side of the couch

I went with the amazon version

u/yourfavoritewife · 2 pointsr/Flipping

I don't sell a lot of clothing, but when I do, I hang the item, if possible. Keep the background simple with no distractions. I have a plain white wall in a well lit area in my home that has a few hooks for coats. If it's okay for the fabric, use a steamer to remove any wrinkles. If I'm having difficulty getting the clothing to look perfect, like a collar falling, I use things like clear tape in a hidden spot to make it stay. I've put newspaper or wire in sleeves to make them photograph better. That kind of stuff.

I used to be a photographer, but you don't need professional equipment to get quality pictures. Something that I've found to aid in lighting is an LED floor lamp like this. You can angle it to suit your situation. It's not heavy, so I drag it all over the house for photography and task lighting. You'll want your item lit from more than one direction, of course. Maybe you can set up near a window. You may have to experiment at different times of the day to see what works best for your situation.

Take photos of the front and back, any details that may help it sell or that provide information for the customer, as well as any flaws that you need to highlight. For my main photo, the one that shows in search results, I always use a square photo. In my opinion, it's more eye-catching when you use all of the available space and don't have the white lines from putting a rectangle inside of a square.

On that same note, when taking your pictures, leave as little negative space as possible, within reason, of course.

I usually tweak the contrast of the photo just a bit, maybe raising it to 10 out of 100. Sometimes, I lightly turn up the brightness, if necessary and, rarely, the saturation. Don't overdo that part.

Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions. I'm always working on ways to make my photos stand out from the crowd and I don't mind sharing my tips and tricks.

u/orange-blossom · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

End tables! Something like these or these. I would put a floor lamp on the right side of the couch and a large jute or cotton rope basket planter for some greenery.

Rotate the rug and consider a square glass or ottoman coffee table (perhaps with storage). Keep a large serving tray on top for drinks, etc. I would also angle the chairs into a more "conversational" position facing the couch.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/AmateurRoomPorn

I got this one from Amazon for my 6'4 boyfriend and he really loves it. It looks better in person and is an amazing deal for that price.

u/fae925 · 2 pointsr/knitting

I love this lamp. It's dimmable (if that is a word)...basically, it's LED, you can adjust the height, angle and brightness. I have mine behind my sofa and leaning over me.

That said, I've also replaced many of my ceiling lights and other lamps with LED bulbs that I got from BedBathBeyond and it's amazing.

Hi, is this the correct unit I cannot see: Ikea 101.398.79 'NOT' Floor Uplight, Black/White (Height: 175 cm) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00R3LQW42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jCe8BbD6PEFNT

Some nice floor lamps in the corners of rooms, something like ORE International 6962BK 5 Arm Arch Floor Lamp, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0019CII6Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_g7U5BbR1HNY3B

And then I would get LED light strips and line the top of the room partitions for some up lighting

u/LoomaHome · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

Make IKEA storage cubes your bed frame, like this. If you put wicker baskets in the cubes, you can store tons of things easily, and get rid of the black shelves behind your bed entirely (saving space and looking nicer) and your outdated bed frame.

Why not decorate your walls with your vinyls? Get some shelves that have a lip on the edge (to keep the vinyls from sliding off), like these, and display some of the best-looking/your favorite vinyls. Functional art!

Honestly, your bed needs an upgrade the most. It's the focal point of a bedroom--it should look nice!

Get a duvet with some texture, no prints. Something like this will work with a variety of looks, so you can keep it for a long while.

Some basic white pillows for the back, with a lumbar-shaped pillow with an interesting pattern as an accent.

Fold up your maroon blanket and drape it over the edge.

Invest in a floor lamp, a plant (I'd suggest a snake plant, because they're hard to kill), and post photos again when you're a little further along!

Here's something similar: https://www.amazon.com/Brightech-Maxwell-Compatible-Standing-Bedrooms/dp/B01N1Z2HUS

I'll hunt a little for that exact lamp.

Edit: found this vintage lamp listed on an auction site, but no details of the maker. The listing included similar keywords to what I used to search (Japanese style, paper, wood, shelf, floor lamp): https://www.ebth.com/items/1199461-japanese-style-geometric-standing-lamp

And a few more for good measure: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-Display-Shelf-Floor-Lamp-Bedroom-Living-Room-Office-Modern-Standing-Light/142879803685?hash=item21444cc925:m:m9boJZznlafXnydRP8ymziA:sc:ShippingMethodExpress!80516!US!-1&var=441866432623

Keep with the mid century modern get a nice tall lamp 1 or 2 and side table on each side.
Two big prints on the back would add a lot of depth, don't go over board with colors. i really like the Japanese style 1 and 2 with the mid century.

It's a 27 watt CFL (120 watt equivalent) that I got on Amazon.
This is just winter seating. The windowsills get too cold even with newer windows. It's not a long term solution, but it keeps them happy enough for a few months.

u/madAmos · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

The issue I have with a single extremely powerful lamp is you either have to bounce it off a wall or be blinded and you are limited in adjustment. My den had no overhead lighting so I put a tree lamp like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Harbor-Incandescent-Adjustable-Oversized/dp/B003A9E734/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1377665624&sr=1-2&keywords=Tree+Lamp in the corner of the room.

Two of the lights point to the corner of the room at the ceiling. One points down at my desk.

I'm using 23W 1000 lumen CFL's in the three lights.

u/Lndbrghwrstlr · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I honestly am not sure on lamps, I don't have a great eye for them myself. This was one I was looking at earlier but never ended up pulling the trigger on it solely because I can't personally justify $70 on a lamp haha.

u/KanadaKid19 · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Here it is! https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0019CII6Q/ref=pe_386430_121528420_TE_dp_1

It was a birthday present from the girlfriend :) Only problem was it arrived with a severed power cord! Never seen something like that before. I put a new end on it and it's near a wall outlet so in my case it worked out fine, though.

u/Skullstream · 1 pointr/Twitch
u/sararosered · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

This lamp is ugly as all get out (it reminds me of a dental light) but my dad bought one for my mom to read with... I've stolen it to do makeup with, it's crazy bright, easily adjustable and it's white light instead of that typical yellow glow which can throw off your makeup.

A floor lamp/magnifier with the arm long enough for it to be over my lap while sitting in a low big armed chair. Like this lamp but with better reviews too many people had this lamp stop working.

u/CarrieStone2 · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

cool carpet, although it's not my ideal color type, it seems to fit with your couch. You can add some indoor plants here, add some side tables having shelves where you can add your favorite books like this one or this one or something that will match your existing furniture, or if you got some collectible, you can add it. You can also invest with some lightings like this one, you can add some wall art here like a multi-panel like this one here or a single panel like this one here or you can have a custom one depending on what you like

by the way, you got a great area for a living room.

u/DefyedHD · 1 pointr/battlestations

I have a lamp in the back of my room here with this bulb to change the colours. Behind the monitor on the left I have this one too.

u/lenonymes · 1 pointr/battlestations

That price isn't as bad as I was expecting.

This is a similar looking option for a more palatable price: https://www.amazon.com/Brightech-Sparq-Arc-Floor-Lamp/dp/B06WVH873X

u/boringusername7 · 1 pointr/Lighting

Ok take my opinion for what it is (an opinion).
I like the idea that you suggested for color temp, I would go with 3500K temp for the LED, 4000K is to blue for a warm comfy feel in the room and 3000 is a little to red for my taste. 3500 is perfect for a living room setting, but if you can not find it I would go with 3000K.

I would go with a center light like you have but flush mounted, then either choose a nice sconce on the same switch mounted to the wall or a [three light floor lamp] (https://www.amazon.com/Boston-Harbor-TL-TREE-134-BK-3L-Light-Black/dp/B003A9E734/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523457838&sr=8-1&keywords=floor+lamp+with+three+lights) in the corner with the lights pointed at the ceiling and wall to get a nice reflective light lighting the room but also allowing for spot lighting when needed.

I would also go with dimmable fixtures, for the times when you do not need it to be as bright.

My general experience is when we light out rooms ourselves we have a tendency to not provide enough light for all situations and just go with what is good enough. So I am all for having multiple lights in a room, that are just ready for when needed, but left off when you want the warm comfy feel.

If you want to see if you have enough light already or not, buy a lamp and plug it in and move it around to see if you could use more light and if so where it would be best to place it.

u/CladArminianism · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I think this is it? Link

Thanks for getting back to me! This looks perfect for serving as both a floor lamp and a nightstand in one. It might go great in the bedroom corner of my studio apartment. I really wish I could make an accent wall like you have. Looks great! Good for you

On a side note, I think you do a great job of laying out your room. Everything seems to have its place. Perhaps an ottoman at the foot of the bed and/or a framed poster on the non-accented wall?

u/gweezer · 1 pointr/minipainting

It doesn't solve all your problems, but I use a magnifying lamp for working on my minis. It means I don't have to get so close. (Though I still always end up with nose smudges on the magnifier!)

Also, using things like makeshift stands or third hands help lift your mini from the table while still not being so high you have to raise and tire your arms.

(Note, there are much cheaper versions of both those items, those were just great examples, don't loose faith over money.)

u/alireves · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

yeah, the layout and view is awesome, this is what it looks like at night: https://imgur.com/a/9Ori1Cs

Modifying the pre-installed lights is a great idea, never thought of that. But I'm not sure if its going to work with these:
https://imgur.com/a/uu50QRd
What do you think?

Yeah, I'm thinking about moving the lamp in the living room to the bed room since its so bright and direct. But I have to say, those paper floor lamps you linked, I really don't like them. For me, those scream typical college student living room. I'd prefer something more like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Brightech-Emma-Tripod-Floor-Lamp/dp/B01NCSUZMJ/ref=sr_1_25?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1542238273&sr=1-25&keywords=standing+lamp

But I'm not sure if those would be bright enough.

u/IIIpl4sm4III · 1 pointr/malelivingspace
u/iamgreenbag · 1 pointr/ValveIndex

I made my stands for my Rift using cheap-assed Ikea floor lamps and a camera mount epoxied on top. 2 lamps make 1 89" stand (cut to length using a cheap pipe cutter), with the 2" camera mount, and 2.5" for the sensors, all coming to 93.5" in total...2.5" from my 8' tall ceiling. The lamps were originally $10 each, but they seem to have gone up. The best part of the stands is that the base is only 10", instead of 2-3 feet square that a tripod takes up. Fits nicely in corners, and also looks nicer than the legs of tripods. They're actually quite fashionable. :P

Moving sale! Got fired from my job and now I'm going back home so I have a lot of odds and end type shit and some furniture I want to get rid of. Prices are fixed, but only because I'm already lowballing everything because I just want to get rid of it. I'll post pictures of the actual item based on interest.

Things I'm offloading right now:

edit: New Stuff!!

  • Assorted beer glasses - two tall pilsner glasses (22 oz) (has a logo like this on the glass), small 3 oz taster glasses (3) one from Sam Adams, one from Wachusetts Brewery, one from the Copenhagen Beer Festival - Pilsners are $2/each and tasters are $2 for all three.

  • Assorted wine glasses (3) - $1/each

  • Digital Food scale - $2

  • This type of waffle maker. I think it's a black and decker, just all black colored, entirely plastic. Used but in great condition. - $5

  • Orange Safety Vest - $2

  • Two paper coveralls (Tyveks) - $2 for the pair

  • Orange work gloves. They're insulated a bit so they'll keep your hands warm and have a rubber palm/finger grip.

  • Hand warmers...I have 4 or 5 packs. - $1 a pack

  • Vacuum cleaner. So it's seen better days but it still gets the job done. Canister style vacuum, has primary floor attachment with a beater brush, solid floor attachment, wand attachment (the narrow high suction thing for getting under tight spaces), a bristle brush, and a smaller upholstery attachment with a beater brush built in for doing things like couches, cars, etc. There is something wrong with the connection between the primary floor attachment and the handle because recently it only operates the beater brush when the handle is turned at an angle. Like I said, it's seen better days, but it still works fine and would be a great vacuum for a shop or secondary thing to clean places that are typically dirty. Whole thing is $5 + some bags. Maybe you can fix it :)

  • 1.5ish ft by 2ish ft rubber entry mat. Used it to change my shoes after a muddy hike without trying to balance around and getting my feet wet or dirty. Take a hose to it and everything cleans right off. - $1

  • This Floor lamp - $5. Add $1 and you get bulbs!

  • These tire chains. New, never used (still sitting in the box amazon sent it in unopened), model QG1142. Bought it to fit a 2008 Honda CRV stock tires. And these rubber tighteners. Also brand new, still sealed in packaging unused. They go together, $20 for both.

  • This Leaf Antenna. Bought it in January, it's been sitting next to my TV. Delivers crystal clear, uncompressed broadcast channels. I used it to watch football for a month and get the morning news, works perfectly here in the city. I'm leaving a F/F coax connector with it so if you want to run a longer cable, you can. $5

  • FitBit HR Charge (original). Color is black. I have two of them and three charging cables. $20 each + charging cable.

  • This silverware tray. Fits in a standard sized drawer and has an expandable slot. $5

  • Brand new black and decker iron. Still in box. $5

  • Black and Decker toaster oven. Like new, been using it for 3 months to make small batch cookies, toast sandwiches, cook biscuits, and heat up food. I think this is the model, if not exact it's near identical. Has all pans and racks, black. Goes up to 450F. $10 Sale pending

  • This paper towel holder. $3

  • This table from Fred Meyer. Still brand new, sealed in box. Never had a chance to set it up. $75

  • A 3 foot, True Temper square shovel. Almost new, used it for work a few times. Only a couple months old. Looks kinda like this shovel. but not quite the same. Black grips instead of red. $10 Sale pending

  • ID badge holder. Holder also prevents proximity based copying...or something like that. It was given to me when I worked for the gov several years back, I don't know. $1

  • Two boxes of nitrile rubber gloves. Large and XL. Used maybe 3 pairs of XL but both are opened. $4 for both boxes. Sale pending

  • Stack of white envelopes. Idk...write me a poem.

  • Knife block. Your basic multipiece knife block. Steak knives, chef knife, carving knife, etc. Also comes with some kitchen utensils like a large plastic spoon, a spatula (I think) and a few other odds and ends. It's one set - $5.

  • These bottles of Nikwax waterproof restoration stuff. Never used, $5.

  • This napkin holder. New. Been sitting on my table for a month holding napkins. $5

  • A copy of the Kite Runner. Used, but little wear and tear. $1

  • The Unthinkable. $1. Sale pending

  • Zombie Survival Guide. 1 poem.

  • ATT cordless handset phones. Two handsets. One main docking station that has a voice mail built in and a secondary dock for the other handset. Still have the manuals too. $5

  • I have two stethoscopes. They're in pretty good condition, one never been used, the other was used last years ago and only for a brief period. Both in good condition. $10 for the pair.

  • Metal measuring spoons and measuring cups - $5

  • This TV stand. Color black. Surprisingly well built for "cheap" furniture. I have one back where I'm moving and it's held up great for 5 years. $75

  • Coffee Maker. I think it makes 4 cups, I'll have to check. It's a small one that I basically had for guests as I don't drink coffee. - $5 sale pending

I got this LED Asian style floor lamp, it looks really nice and lights both my face and most of the green screen evenly. I also have a small desk lap I set on the floor and angle to cover a pesky spot of the screen with shadow remaining. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZ6JKQS

I hope you laughed until your belly shook like a bowl full of jelly.

This thread seems to have shit covered, as far as actual responses go, so I'd say just laugh at the idiocy, and do what you want.

I will suggest, though, that you buy this, put it on your desk, calling it a "major award", and putting christmas presents under it. That seems a measured response, to me.

Like this one! I got mine at Big Lots for really reasonable priced, here's a picture of how mine are set up.

I have these on my nightstands. They have a USB port for phone and smartwatch charging, which is nice.

I have these in my living room.

It's this lamp - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KKZRF5C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it can me changed into a bunch of possitions. My plants do seem to really love it's light tho!

I've been using this for a few years:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E6CX34C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It provides a ton of light and looks very basic.

Not sure about about ikea but amazon has these. I'm planning on getting a couple for next to my TV in my living room. They support screw in bulbs like the A19.

This is the Lamp. It's nothing special but it definitely looks nice with the rest of the setup I like to think.

Not sure on adapters but...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0070PBVWO/

I've just received one of these lamps and as soon as it was setup ordered 2 more and 2 more hue bulbs!

Is a screw in e27 fitting, there's customer pic on amazon using hue Colour bulb, diffuses the colours very nicely and only £10, can get from IKEA directly for £6 but they wanted £20 delivery to my address.

I definitely want to be serious about streaming but I portioned out a budget, and right now a new webcam isn't on there yet, but thinks for the advice I will check into that. As for the lamp I have this lamp right behind my computer, I might just need to move it forward I think.

I've found the old big box retailers to be cheaper, way cheaper in some cases. Here's a lamp from Ikea on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00R3LQW42/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1500991549&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=lamp&dpPl=1&dpID=21kuNwqzdAL&ref=plSrch

And the same lamp on Ikea's site http://m.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/art/10139879/

It's less than half the price. For a while Amazon was cheaper but now people have stopped checking other sites and sellers have jacked up the prices.
