Grunge Off

Infinitely better than the alcohol/salt routine, and the stuff is even reusable. I've been using the same two bottles for about a year now. I have no idea how it works, but it does.

u/anthonyisbaws · 18 pointsr/AutoDetailing

I recommend Stoner's Invisible Glass. I use it on all my cars and even on the windows in my house. Great product

u/silenc3x · 17 pointsr/HumansBeingBros

One of those magnet cleaning things might help, but only if your windows crack, which many in NYC do not. They don't need to fully open, just enough to get your hand out.

This stuff is what I used in case anyone else wants to know.

I was at my local headshop today and saw it on the shelf and asked about it. The guy told me it was magic and I should try it.

I can confirm it is magic haha

u/cioncaragodeo · 11 pointsr/legaladvice

Depends. I had a bubbler that didn't matter how many times I salted, boiled, iso'd, or any of the other normal tricks it would not get clean. At least not clean enough to have all traces removed visibly (it was a hand me down and really gross). I ended up buying this stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Grunge-Off-Super-Soaker-Cleaner/dp/B002LURISY?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Took 2 days of sitting and the glass was perfect.

u/Mod3_freak · 10 pointsr/TeslaModel3

Ok, after four months with the car, here goes...

Charging

  • Wall Connector $500. Not necessary but I'd recommend biting the bullet before taking delivery, so you can keep the mobile charger in the car. The electrical work took 2 hours of time, at $130/hr. I highly recommend installing a dedicated 60-amp breaker and an efficient gauge wire which will give you 45 mi/hr of charge.
  • Charging Adapters $35. Car comes with the 5-15 and 14-50. I strongly recommend buying the 5-20. If you plan to charge at someone else's house on a roadtrip, ask them to send you a picture of their dryer plug. So far, I've needed the 10-30 and 14-30.
  • NEMA 5-15P to 5-20R Adapter $20. Strongly recommended in combo with Tesla's 5-20 adapter to "cheat" a 16-amp charge (33% faster charging). Must-watch this video, and must-read here, here, here, and here.

    Tesla OEM

  • Cargo Mats for Frunk & Trunk $70 & $130. Must-have some sort of trunk mat, since the trunk material is generally poor quality for heavy use.
  • Front Sunshade $75. Living in Florida, this is a must-have if you dont plan on tinting the top glass panel. The "front" is acutally the middle of the three glass panels, not the windshield.
  • Paint Repair Kit $55. Nice to have so you're ready for rock chips. So far I've had one that made it through the black paint and silver primer.

    Detailing

  • Aero Cosmetics Complete Car Kit $40. Highly recommended. Pricey but saves time for amazing results. Cheaper and better quality than CarGuys products. I liked it so much that I ended up buying this also.
  • Invisible Glass Spray Cleaner $4. Recommended that you have some glass cleaner that's not Windex. This brand is one of the best.
  • Wash Mitt 2-pack $16. Highly recommended compared to a wet rag.
  • Tire and Wheel Brush $8. It's important to segregate parts you use on wheels from parts you use on paint. This product is solid.
  • Grit Guard $8. Totally optional. Helps separate dirt in the bucket when cleaning. You'll see a difference in the water.

    Third-Party

  • Tough-Pro Interior Mats $80. My opinion is that all-weather mats are a must-have. The stock mats are crappy, and all-weather mats make cleaning easier. These are cheaper than Tesla's all-weather mats. I'm happy with them but I'd buy the OEM Tesla ones if I could do it again.
  • Upgraded White LED Lights $13-$77. Must-have for the trunk. Optional for others. I replaced all 7 non-footwell. Easy install with a credit card. As a bonus, I have one left over, so PM me if you want it.
  • Kenriko Matte Wrap for Center Console $30. Must-have. Watch his install videos first. Customer service is excellent if you screw up the install like I did. The matte black matches the black leather interior perfectly. I'm sure the matte white is nice too.
  • Pet Cover for Trunk $45. I couldn't find anything better for driving my dogs, so I use this one with the back seats down, along with Tesla's rubber trunk mat. I'd say my setup prevents 90% of dog wear, and keeps any dog smell to a minimum.
  • Nomad Wireless Charger $130. Nice to have. Not available until end of November, but battery is integrated unlike the comeptitor's.
  • Rubber Cupholder Liners $25. Optional, helps with cleaning.
  • Drop Stop $20. Optional, makes life easier.
  • Air Compressor $25. Optional but recommended. Look for one with automatic shutoff.
  • Tire Plug Kit $8. If you're handy, this is a cheap solution to be ready for a flat. If you're not handy, get Tesla's tire repair kit.
  • Card Holder $5. Optional. Keep in your center console so valet has a way to hang your card key.
u/YellowCBR · 9 pointsr/buildapc

It can cause non-glass windows to get dull/foggy.

There are ammonia-less cleaners better than Windex. This is what I use. Buddy of mine who makes glass recommended it. Target should have single cans for like $2.50

u/averonalus · 8 pointsr/trees
  • I bought a Kind Creations coil, they're a local glass blower in Fort Collins, CO. However, I don't think they make these anymore, on account of the glue used to seal the glycerine in the tube eventually wears away when frozen and thawed multiple times, leading to cheap, but annoying repairs.

  • This was $300 for the beaker and the coil, but most cost more.

  • In total with the coil on it's about 18" tall...I think. I'll have to measure it when I get home.

  • You can hit it when it's not frozen, but then it's essentially just a normal bong. When it's not frozen the coil doesn't do anything. I keep mine in the freezer all the time though, so I can't say I have much experience with it.

  • This is a loaded question. Yes and no. It's the smoothest piece I've ever hit, hands down. However, it takes a lot of maintenance. When it condenses the smoke, it removes some of the tar. This sticks and it gets dirty really fast (keep in mind that mine has two, smaller coils instead of one large one, so that factors in to how fast it gets clogged). I personally love cleaning my glass; it's therapeutic to me. But, if smoked consistently, the coil itself needs a cleaning about once a week. If you don't like cleaning, or you don't have consistent access to somewhere you can clean, I would say stay away.

  • I know you didn't ask, but one thing I've found that makes it much easier to keep clean in the activated carbon filter (attached to the bowl). It filters out almost all tar and acts as an ash catcher, which is much needed for this bong. I've also found that Grunge Cleaner works the best out of anything I've tried for cleaning glass.

CAUTION WITH WINDEX OR ANY AMMONIA BASED WINDOW CLEANER!!

If you have tinted windows the ammonia is what ruins an purples your tint. My advice NEVER ever use any cleaner like that on your car.

As others have said, don't buy cheap if you want results, but don't be oblivious do deals an alternative products either.

For example, Sprayway glass cleaner is an exact match to Invisible Glass and it's stupid cheap.

u/Californja · 6 pointsr/trees

This is the shit you need:
http://www.amazon.com/Grunge-Off-Super-Soaker-Cleaner/dp/B002LURISY

It's 100% natural, and it's reusable for a long time.

Pour it in, wait an hour, pour it back into the bottle and rinse. It dissolves everything.

Edit: The Amazon reviews speak for themselves.

u/MrDeez444 · 6 pointsr/casualiama

It's just called glass cleaner. My company distributes it themselves but I've noticed that other windshield replacement companies have their own stuff too which is the exact same. I've also seen it at just about every car dealership. Not sure if they're for sale but it is absolutely amazing.

I just looked it up online and this looks like the same stuff

Stoner Invisible Glass glass cleaner. Find it in Walmart, auto parts stores.

u/Zi1djian · 5 pointsr/StonerProTips

Find some Grunge Off. Not only can you re-use the stuff, but it's extremely effective. I've cleaned my pieces with the same bottle multiple times. The Grunge Off is motor-oil black now, but it still does the trick!

I usually pour it through a fine metal strainer to get all the resin out while returning it to the bottle.

edit: Here's a link

u/orlheadlights · 4 pointsr/AutoDetailing

RainX is a good treatment for windshields, it's cheap and lasts "meh" long. I would clean the windshield with a proper glass cleaner Stoner's Glass Cleaner. Then Clay the windshield and then apply the RainX.

Also, double check that your wipers aren't dirty. Take a towel and clean them off. You might want to use one of your dirty ugly microfibers or a papertowel since it will become black.

I found this stuff on amazon and @ my local shop called Grunge off super soaker. Iso and salts work great if you let it sit, but that white stuff caused by hard water and the spots caused by smoke dont always come off. With this stuff, just let it sit and after a couple hours drain the liquid back in the bottle and just run warm water through the pipe. No need to scrub.

u/thejazzman63 · 3 pointsr/saplings

If I could tell my family I smoked and just had to worry about fixing the smell I’d just invest in getting a smell proof case and using mason jars to store my bud. There’s also reusable cleaner for bongs and water, like peace water, that keeps the bongs relatively clean. Keep your pieces clean and your mom happy. I can only dream of the day I can tell my parents.

(I'm just copying and pasting from my other comment)

Screw that isopropyl or 420 cleaner stuff. It never works 100% and you always have to scrub and make a mess. I highly recommend using Grunge Off

You do not need to scrub AT ALL and it's re-usable. Just pour it into a zip lock bag or a big bowl, drop your piece in and let it soak overnight. Pull it out in the AM and it's completely spotless. Just pour the stuff back in the bottle and re-use it. I'm still on my first 2 bottles (got the 2 pack) and I've been using it for months. I rarely go more than 3 session without cleaning my pipes, I just let them soak as soon as I'm done with em, and the more often you do it the less time you'll need to let it soak.

u/fourseasonsandles · 3 pointsr/projectcar

Sure. First I used paint in a rattle can from https://www.automotivetouchup.com/. You can put your paint code in and get an exact match. My bay used 1 can of red primer for some of the bare spots I did some metal work on. I used 5 cans of base coat and 4 cans of their high gloss clear. To prep the bay, I pulled everything out I could. Engine was already out. I power washed it. Sprayed it with scrubbing bubbles. The power washed again. I used 3M 07777 scuff pads to take the shine off the previous paint. The entire bay. Then compressed air to get rid of the dust. Finally washing it down with with Sprayaway glass cleaner. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052V1JA2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The glass cleaner sounds strange, but this is what one of my friends uses and paints vehicles on a regular basis and it works. Finally mask literally everything off. I used 7 sheets of plastic drop sheets from Lowes to encase the front of the car from the rest of the garage and started laying base coat. No real technique other than the directions on the can. I let it dry for a day and did clear the following day.

The clear coat is a bit more tricky. You have to get the right distance to get it smooth, otherwise it will be foggy or rough. This took a couple tries to get used to and my bay is not perfect. There are 2 spots in the upper left and right corners at the firewall that are rough. But those are going to be covered up by various parts anyway.

Hope this is helpful. Even the rattle can paint sounded questionable until I saw someone else do it on instagram with similar results before I did mine. Id do it again if I had it. I just hope it holds up.

Regular polywatch only works on acryllic but the 2 part works on mineral, hardlex and supposedly sapphire. It works really well in my experience. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071YZQ47L/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1506353937&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=polywatch

Pop a wine cork in the stem, fill with Grunge Off and let it sit overnight. Next morning, rinse thoroughly (Grunge Off can be used multiple times, per its label) with water. Glass will be like new.

u/dczubek · 2 pointsr/Watches

Poly watch also has a kit that's for other types. I've used it on hardlex successfully.

The trick with this stuff is to work it for about 45 minutes or so depending on the depth of the scratch. It will eventually remove it.

u/J00ish · 2 pointsr/trees

At a glance, that doesn't look like anything permanent. I always kept my GamePad spotless (damn that glossy finish), never had a scratch on it -- but mine certainly looked worse a few times after having a bunch of pizza-eating people over for Smash Bros. Always just used electronics wipes -- something like these. They left streaks on the GamePad's gloass, so once it was fully dry, I buffed it with a microfiber cloth. Looked like new.

u/built_FXR · 2 pointsr/homeowners

When we did our shower, the glass shop put a lifetime coating on it from dfisolutions.com, cost was an extra $100 which was nothing compared to the cost of the enclosure.

Three years later, all we do is wipe with a clean washcloth after we're done in the shower, it dries cyrstal clear.

I've heard mixed results from this:

I used, Polywatch Glass Polish All Kinds Of Glass Scratch Remover/Sapphire Scratch Remover / Repair Cell Phone Screens https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071YZQ47L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_mcPr7igIF4tTX, to repair a scratch from a steel strand that went thru my pants and got the front of the screen on my s7.

I could feel the scratch with my fingernail and the scratch looked white. I only used the finishing portion of the kit. It buffed it out. I only tried it because I'm trading in my phone and was pleased with the results. No picture. Worked for me. No idea if I wiped away any film that was on screen. I cannot tell there was a scratch or anything there before. But I'm trading in my phone.

All you need in life is Grunge Off. It's amazing, just plug up the downstem hole with a rubber stopper, fill up yer piece, let it soak for a bit, pour the grunge off back into the bottle, then rinse with water. You can reuse it a ton of times before it gets too gross. We'll use it for awhile in the bongs then relegate the kinda gross grunge off to a giant glass beer stein to soak slides etc. Absolute must have. https://www.amazon.com/Grunge-Off-Super-Soaker-Cleaner/dp/B002LURISY

pricy, but less than a new nail, right? if you just use it to dip n swab like i do, one bottle will last you like six months of daily gram dabbing

u/travis- · 2 pointsr/trees

Rubbing alc + salt to get rid of the bulk of the garbage. After that, I really can't recommend Grunge Off enough. This is the best cleaner on the market, you really won't find many glass aficionados speak out against it sans the fact it might remove a label if you rub it against it enough. If you can't get grunge off this works well too which has the same active ingredient limonene-d (which is just a terpene from oranges). Soak your pieces over night, depending on your tube if its not a pipe you can get a glass stopper instead of a bowl so you can fill it to the top. You can reuse the stuff quite a bite before having to buy more. It's maybe 5 - 10 minutes of extra work every night for perfectly clean like you bought it new glass (with that new-shine look because it removes hard water).

u/c_topherl · 2 pointsr/AutoDetailing

Very very very very new to detailing/cleaning my car myself.

I picked up this glass cleaner, sprayed it on my windows/windshield, and wiped it with one of these micros and it left a bunch of streaks. Is the issue my products, technique or something else?

u/goofyboots710 · 2 pointsr/COents

This is residual oil that doesn't get cleaned out of the banger with a qtip. I'm sure you have noticed it rising when you torch your banger the next time. It rises and pretty much turns to black soot. Peeps call this a chazzed banger. You have to qtip like everyone is saying after every hit. Even then my bowl with chazz over time. There is a product I use to clean my banger every couple of days. The key is to stay on it and don't let it get really black and chazzed. Try using some of this. I got it from my local head shop and it's great. link This is a big bottle. My headshop has smaller, portable ones.

So sorry you have to quit smoking, ugh, that's horrible! I thought I was the only one on this sub that smoked, glad to see I'm not alone :)

Mary Jane and I have been best friends for about 15 years now, I don't know what I'd do without her sometimes. She always knows how to make me feel better, almost instantly, and is always there when I need her most. From the time I wake up, until the time I go to bed, she's there. She actually motivates me to do things and when she's gone, I'm just a lump that doesn't want to do anything.

I am in desperate need of Formula 420 Cleaner, I ran out a while ago and haven't gotten anymore yet. It's actually $10.70...I see you have it bolded that it shouldn't be over $10. Please forgive me, this is all that was on my list that is paraphernalia related. EDIT: I also found these wonderful socks on my list, but they are $10.49...lol, wtf

Thanks for the super awesome contest :) Je suis ananas (what does that mean?) (aw, just saw this was closed lol)

u/brettsap · 1 pointr/weed

I highly recommend 420 Cleaner; it's effective and efficient. You'll most likely find it at your local headshop, but if not you can get it on Amazon.
If you're a baller on a budget, rubbing alcohol (preferably 99%), salt, a couple ziplocks (to shake it around), and few pipe cleaners will suffice.

For anyone interested, they also make a "710 Cleaner" (OIL upside-down, I recently learned), which is made for oil rigs and/or any other apparatus used to hit concentrates.

u/dr_bong · 1 pointr/trees
  1. Should be safe to smoke, unless you literally just cleaned it.

    2)Isopropyl alcohol evaporates pretty quickly.

  2. Yes, its just your stoner paranoia. Give it a quick rinse with water if you're that worried.

  3. Let the perc soak in some kind of cleaning solution for like 24+ hours. I've done it with just iso and it worked fine, but ive had friends with really dirty percs and they had to soak it overnight in this stuff
u/hendeeze · 1 pointr/trees

I'm not sure about you guys, but I use [Grunge off] (http://www.amazon.com/Grunge-Off-Super-Soaker-Cleaner/dp/B002LURISY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371789965&sr=8-1&keywords=grunge+off). This stuff kicks ass. It has teh viscosity of glycerin and you pour it in. Let it sit for 15-20m (I just empty the bong before I sleep and pour the stuff in) No shaking or anything necessary. Anything in contact with the solution is clean as the day you bought it. And the best part is, it's reuseable. I've used mine at least once a week for the last 5 months and have yet to notice any degradation in potency.

I've used alcohol and salt before, and I find this method much easier and safer. Rock salt can get stuck to certain kinds of percs, and vigorously shaking my bong trying to agitate salt, while probably at a [8] can be a recipe for disaster. The only slight inconvenience is while cleaning it out, the solution may develop bubbles. Now its not gonna be like soap, but there will be a bit. And trying to rid your bong of bubbles is a bitch. Luckily my bong is small enough to fit under the sink tap, and I can just force all the water out the top thru the downstem. If you have a taller one it may take several rinses to remove the trapped bubbles.

Ordered this recently, going to test it on the weekend, have really light scratches on the corners of PH-1, don't want to use a screen protector; have had the phone for 3 months, bought brand new so hopefully this helps.

Everyone does it differently but we all probably use the same product called Nesquik Instant Coffee. Generally brew up a batch at room temperature with distilled water. Boiling it turns allot of the acids into base and well water has allot of minerals in it.

Basic ferric chloride etch to get an even base coat going. I'll generally neutralize with Windex. Then clean the oxides off with a cotton makeup pad with a dab of Green Flitz. Making sure its all even. If not repeat.

Then as simple as dropping it in the coffee and checking every 5-10 minutes since it etches slow. Repeated etching intervals of 5 minutes with a quick Windex neutralization and light makeup surface wiping to continually remove the surface oxides will get you there. (No Flitz if your going for dark until your set on the color since it will drop it a shade)

The finer the grind the darker an etch will take.

But as I said before ultimately it all comes down to the steel to achieve a full black etch. There's just not enough Manganese in 1080 and 1095. Without using something like a blueing agent it'll always be closer to a deep grey. Steels like D2, 5160, 1084, and 80CRV2 all have a higher Manganese content which allows for a deeper darker etch. There are others I just can't remember them off the top of my head.

Nope, no smell! That's all that's listed on the bottle. You can see the back label on the second image of the Amazon listing.

I've had really good luck with Grunge Off. It's a cleaner made with citrus oil and unlike the iso method or Orange Chronic, this is meant to soak your pieces in. If you take the bowl and soak overnight it should clean a lot of the build up away. Rinse with hot water. You may have to rinse it out and soak again the following night but it will eventually break down any build up you have on there. It smells great to! Amazon link below so you can see what it looks like but don't buy from there because that price is stupid! I think i pay $18 a bottle. It's reusable many, many times.

And once you get it clean use a few drops of Rez Block in the water to prevent it from getting dirty again. This stuff works wonders!!!

It may not clean it super well, but I usually use this to clean. I'm sure it's not the safest cleaner, but you can reuse it over and over and over. Once the liquid gets black, all I do is pour it through a filter and it's good again.

Since it leaves a little bit of a pungent smell, I run vinegar through after and then a little water. It seriously cleans it Brand Spankin' New.

However, coarse salt and alcohol/vinegar is always a solution too.

I never actually cleaned mine in the dishwasher. I’d use Grunge Off because it’s nice smelling and you can reuse it after cleaning!! I think every stoner should use it, it’ll take stripes off a zebra!! https://www.amazon.com/Grunge-Off-Super-Soaker-Cleaner/dp/B002LURISY

Or maybe I should say it’ll strip resin as aggressively as I’d strip you. 😉😋

I picked up these Windex electronic wipes at Lowe's or Home Depot or something a year or two ago, they work great for cleaning screens and stuff! I wipe down everything electronic with them, TV, monitor, laptop, including the outside case, keyboard, and trackpad. I usually hit the keyboard with some compressed air first. Works great and I haven't had any issues ever!

u/jamor9391 · 1 pointr/castiron

Actually they make this cleaner that gets every ounce of resin off of glass pieces. Works amazingly well.

Grunge off
Best shit out there no messy salt every where and smells like oranges, just submerge, for 20 min and good as new.

I speed up the process just a half cup and swish it around till all is gone 10 min max, brand new.

u/thelonesloth · 1 pointr/hookah

Honestly, you should try this. Worked very well for me.

u/TheFreshestSpam · 1 pointr/trees

Can I make a suggestion?

Pick up a bottle of Grundge Off.

It's a little more pricey, but it works way better with way less effort...AND its reusable! I've been using the same bottle since last July on a weekly basis and it still works great! It works way better than iso and salt ever worked for me, is cheaper in the long run, and no weird after taste.

Twist and pull up on the heating cover to gently remove it. Soak the heating cover in rubbing alcohol. You can use things like formula 420 but rubbing alcohol simply works for glass pieces.

Just blow out the loose stuff from the bottom of the DBV. If there is material stuck to the actual heating element, do what I did. Soak a q-tip in rubbing alcohol and gently clean it off. You can also use the alcohol-soaked q-tip to spot clean the heating cover but be advised-I soaked mine for a day after a similar incident, and although it was way cleaner, the clear glass heater cover is still lightly stained.

Obviously the DBV should be off and cooled down before doing any of this. Good luck

let it sit in the bong for 30 minutes or so then pour it out and rinse with hot water, works sooooo much better than isopropyl. The best part is you can pour it back into the bottle and reuse it, I have been using the same bottle for ~6 months.

u/himynameisdave9 · 1 pointr/trees

Personally I don't like this stuff cause of the residue left behind. It's also been a long time since I've used it and I know a lot of ents that swear by it.

I prefer to use a product called Grunge Off which has always worked well for me and is a great value for what you get.

They also make a stainless steel cleaner.

This. Just be very careful... the magnets are simultaneously way too strong and way too weak and can either pinch your fingers terribly or fall off the window.

u/ILoveMrDavis · 1 pointr/trees

I tried that with my piece and it didn't do anything for it. Look for Formula 420 at amazon. Here is a link for you. I was recommended this by a fellow Redditor. (Link is from cell phone)

Personally, I've pretty much stopped using canned air for dusting unless I have to, as I was sick and tired of sneezing and dusting all of MY equipment after I finished with customer equipment (also, it's pretty gross when you think of what that stuff is). Personally, I think water is a bad choice. A single drop gets where it doesn't belong and you potentially release the magic smoke.
My professional opinion is vacuums/cleaner wipes are the way to go.

For the vacuum, you don't want to use your home vacuum, as the air going through the tubes generates static electricity, and static+computers=bad. Metro Vacuums has a line called DataVac that are ESD safe. I own the middle option both at work and at home.

Low volume - http://amzn.com/B001J4ZOAW
Medium volume - http://amzn.com/B00MU2DE36
High volume (This one can use HEPA filters that can block toner particles, a must if you plan on cleaning laser printers/copers. The other units can't filter the tiny particles, and the supposedly make their way into the motor and chew stuff up, and aren't good to breathe either) - http://amzn.com/B000RMQJBK

I also use generic electronics cleaner wipes (like these: http://amzn.com/B004GCUJWM) to get all the smudgy stuff off of laptops. For the really grody ones, clorox wipes. I just don't hit the screen, and I usually follow up with an electronics wipe, as the clorox wipes leave streaks.

edit: I know the vacs aren't cheap, but canned air is freaking expensive too. At $3 a can, the ROI is pretty short on these vacs if you do much work on computers. I always clean any computer/server that comes across my workbench, as it just makes working on them easier, and improves customer satisfaction. I think of it like taking your car into the dealership for an oil change and finding out they washed and vacuumed it. It's just pleasant, and it takes less than 5 minutes.
