KAEDE Golf Balls, 12 Colors (One Dozen) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GP65L4C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vdElDbY7YQA16

$49 a dozen

Read the reviews, pretty funny, especially the one from “Heather Rando” lol

Who thinks I should use part of the printer budget to instead buy this indoor putting green for my office?

u/Rob_035 · 6 pointsr/golf

Putting!

Get a long metal ruler from home depot, like this one. The ball sits in the hole at one end, and then you try and putt it straight down the ruler without the ball falling off the sides.

If you have any putting mat then the combination of a putting mirror and the putt out will make you deadly from inside of 5'

Hi! I actually set one up. It's ghetto as hell but, here is what I did.

This little net is cheap on Amazon.

Then I went to Home Depot and bought a section of astro-turf for about $17. I had an old grommet kit so I put 4 holes about an inch in from the corners and grommeted them. I use old tent stakes to keep it tight on my lawn.

I stacked a welcome mat on top of a large cutting board and slid it under the Astroturf for a solid flat surface.

[Wiffle golf balls.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001RFSTN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_x2qRzbG1HV3QH)

I use a lid from a storage container tub as a ball feeder, propped up at the perfect angle by an empty 12oz LeCroix.

Creative lighting and my 60° Mizuno, the little Bose Bluetooth speaker for the Spotifies and I got a pretty fun night going on in my little back yard.

I have one too but retrofitted mine like a SKLZ Accelerator and when I flip it over the straight line is helpful.

I was in your EXACT position about 4 months ago. I'm developing my golf game and can't yet justify a large investment. I got the Calloway Strata 13-piece set and have been very pleased with the results. 4-5 Hybrid, 6-PW irons, 3 wood and driver. Decent walking bag does the job.

$189.99, 4.3 out of 5 stars, with free shipping from Amazon.

Good luck!

I have this one. I wish there was an insert to make the hole smaller than standard, but other than that it's pretty good: SKLZ Accelerator Pro 2.0 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B013BYCKDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Bv85AbDW94010

CaddyTek SuperLite Deluxe
I bought this cart yesterday and it was perfect for my high school student budget. I did a lot of research and the quality is great for the price you pay. The reviews are great and it is on sale for $71 right now.

What are your misses like? You do a lot of great things in your swing...the potential is there. I think a few tweaks will go a long ways! It is a little hard to tell from the video but the only thing I would change about your grip is the gap between your thumb and pointer finger on your right hand. When you have a gap there you lose a lot of control over the club face.

  • Bad grip - http://imgur.com/EB2YEZJ1.
  • Good grip - http://imgur.com/bw53rDr

An old coach of mine would put two sharpie dots on my hand kinda like the 2nd pic and then make me connect the dots.

Next up would be your lateral movement away from the ball. I think some of your overswinging is because you have so much lateral movement. You want to be able to shift your weight onto your right side without having your head and upper body move so much off the ball.

Check out Rory's face on.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0ABM0B9RsA

    Compared to yours... http://imgur.com/MPmkl6m

You want to feel as if you're rotating inside of a big barrel on your backswing. You should load to the left...but your head and upper body should stay more centered over the ball instead of moving away from it. Hope that makes sense!

My last advice, like some of the user comments would be to try and get you're club face more square throughout the swing. That will probably be the hardest change to make. Have you ever heard of a swinggyde training aid? http://www.amazon.com/Swingyde-Golf-Swing-Training-Aid/dp/B000OZI256

It's cheap...really easy to use and provides really good feedback for someone wanting to work on their takeaway and proper forearm rotation to get the clubface square. Hope this helps! LMK if you have any questions.

Meh. Money grab. Pelz is a legend in the coaching game but the guy sells this for $50 for absolutely no reason relating to the quality of the product. Hell you can get that thing for 15 dollars, and it'll do the same shit.

I bought one of these

http://www.amazon.com/SKB-2SKB-4812WS-Standard-Golf-Travel/dp/B0007VNZDG/ref=lp_3411161_1_9?s=golf&ie=UTF8&qid=1451939925&sr=1-9

Considering my irons were $1000, driver $400, putter $300, wedges $100 bucks apiece, and my 4 wood around $200, $150 bucks on a sturdy hard case is nothing. I have no worries about them at all. I have owned it for 4 years and never once had a problem.

People like soft cases for some reason, probably cause they can pack their clothes and save on baggage fees, but I always fly southwest and this qualifies as one free bag, and my suitcase my second free bag.

I personally would never use a soft case. Yes, I know a lot of pro's use the Club Glove, but a lot of pro's also fly private jets to tournaments.

Phil Mickelson shows his best drill in "Secrets of the Short Game" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhzY7TIMnMU). Basically, take 8 tees and place them in a circle around the hole at 3', then again at 4', 5', and 6'. Start with the three footers and go around the hole. Every time you miss one, you start over. So if you nail 7 straight 3' putts, you end up putting pressure on yourself to hit the 8th and move on to 4'.

Personally I wasn't a great putter so when I started doing this drill. I would just put until I holed 100 3' putts from around the hole. After I did the 100 holed 3' putts (if I had time) I'd try and make 100 from 4', then 5', then 6'.

Really, just repetition to get your started. ALSO, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Pelz-Golf-DP4007-Putting-Tutor/dp/B01718IMYY/ref=sr_1_3?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1bG1tdK14wIVy7bACh1b2QtwEAAYASAAEgKU1_D_BwE&hvadid=178128662112&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9021890&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=4602190071287016995&hvtargid=kwd-3054275133&hydadcr=16284_9861366&keywords=dave+pelz+putting+aids&qid=1563149708&s=gateway&sr=8-3 I found it for like $25 at my local shop but it forces you to learn to start your putt on a straight line. You can't push or pull the putt and still make it. I use that at home in my office. It doesn't matter where the ball goes, it just matters that you don't knock the marbles loose.

u/print1n · 2 pointsr/golf

For a budget starter set with everything, I've heard good things about these.

It doesn't matter what you get when you first start, the important thing is that you start. Get anything. Be patient, practice, learn from others, ask questions, and enjoy the game. Don't get caught up in brand names for the time being or if RBZ irons are going to be better for you that MP-54s. Just get out there, have fun, and play.

I have a setup in my garage and I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/PGM3660-Emerald-Par-Golf-Mat/dp/B0058DECVC

After seeing the Potty Putter advertised on television, I'm convinced there's no such thing as a silly idea. So go for it. In California, stores have forced reusable bags onto their customers.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/golf

Definitely closed at the top. I had the same issue recently and had an instructor point it out through video, just like this. He said my club face looked like a "waiter's tray" -- he could place a drink on it. Same issue with snap hooks. He connected a swingyde to my club. It is suppose to be pointing straight up at set up for a square face. Mine was pointing about 45 degrees left. So, I was closed at set up, closed at the top and closed coming down.

I had thought it was my grip and had spent a month trying to get the weakest grip I could before getting some instruction. It wasn't the grip. It was the fact that I was setting up with the club face closed and then not rotating my left arm during the take away. The swingyde is a great tool to fix this issue since it forces you to stay square. One of your golf buddies might have one to check out. Otherwise, I would suggest (i) make absolutely sure that you're square at set up--you might need someone else to look for you because it's hard to tell if you "think" square is something it is not (as for me I thought shut was square); and (ii) start with your elbows tight and pointing down (like the diagram in 5 Lessons where they are bound by twine) and practice rotating your left forearm clockwise when you cock the wrists (but not the right arm). That is what my instructor had me do (with the swingyde). It takes some practice and you'll probably start out hitting some balls right because you've been doing other things to compensate for the closed face. It worked wonders for me. No more hooks.

I had an enormous issue with going past parallel due to flipping my wrists the same way as you.
You're already tackling the issue with a pro but I'll share what worked for me. I tried out the Swingyde (link at the bottom) and it has made an astonishing improvement in my ball striking. Doing about 20 swings a night with this swing has really helped me make my swing much more compact and kept me from manipulating my hands and wrists at the top of my backswing.

I have owned the Sklz Quickster ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047YQ2MK/ref=abs_brd_tag_dp?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER ),$110 and the Rukket SPDR ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00STRNQN4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).

I kept the SKLZ and gave away the Rukket. The SKLZ was quicker/easier to put up & take down (kinda like a "quick pole" tent), lighter, more compact.

I love it. The net has held up, it's big enough that it takes a tremendous mis-hit to miss the net, and it's weathered a few rains when I've left it out.

Down sides, it needs pretty level ground to sit still in anything over a stiff breeze. There are stake holes but I never got around to using those.

You should get a proper hitting mat. One you stand on. I tried the smaller, cheaper, "stand in front" mats, but you're always practicing hitting on a slope that way. Here's one at the MINIMUM size you should get: https://www.amazon.com/PGM3660-Emerald-Par-Golf-Mat/dp/B0058DECVC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1499802824&sr=8-5&keywords=golf+mat

I'm a beginner and use these. They feel like sand bags, but they're cheap as hell. I still lose a lot, so I'm not ready for $20/dozen yet.

u/DeucePot · 2 pointsr/golf

I am cheap frugal so I always try flying Southwest when I'm traveling for golf cuz clubs fly free. I have a beastly SKB hard case that looks like an anti-aircraft bazooka case haha. It has kept my clubs safe (got it for around $150 or something), but I wish I would have bought a case like this.

My case is very heavy with the clubs/shoes/etc... inside, nearly 50 lbs and it's kind of a hassle to lug around the airport and in hotels (especially if you are going to Vegas and you have to walk 1/2 a mile inside the hotel just to get to your room). The legs that pop out with the wheels so you just have to push it would be clutch.

If money is plentiful in your life, I would recommend a golf club shipping company like ShipSticks or something. I have some rich friends that use the service and they love it, I'm just too cheap frugal to spend $120 for a service like that (and that's domestic pricing), international I remember being $250ish.

When you're at the range, hit balls with your club a couple inches behind the ball at address. This will promote that you have a forward shaft lean at impact.

Also, use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Swingyde-Golf-Swing-Training-Aid/dp/B000OZI256

The Swingyde should ensure that you're hinging your wrists properly and then maintaining that hinge throughout the swing.

If you have never played good name brand wedges then they will be fine. I had one good Cleveland wedge in my set so didn't care for the grinds on these. I like tinkering so I did my own customs grinds, did a gun blue finish, and threw on some good grips. I love them now.

I wouldn't get too excited. Most offices have fun events around the holiday season even if it's just a few drinks, but most won't make this a regular event. If you want some time on the green there is probably an affordable mini golf course close to you. You could also get one of these and keep it under your desk.

Interested to see responses. I was gifted a putter a few years ago and it's the only club in my bag I didn't pick out for myself. Been contemplating a fitting and a new putter for 2018.

Kansas City Golf Show is next weekend so I've already prepped the wife to not be surprised to see a $200-$400 charge on the ol' card. And by prepped I mean I'm just going to do it and ask for forgiveness later.

edit: I did get a putting mirror which helped me a lot with my setup. I never realized how far I was leaning over the ball until I used one of those. The Caddytek Superlite is $87 shipped right now, but was a little cheaper when I bought it.

I picked it up because it was the cheapest folding push cart I could find that didn't have a ton of negative reviews. My two (small) complaints are:

  1. The umbrella mount works well in the rain, but not so much when there's wind. The body of the cart is sturdy enough for regular abuse, but with a giant umbrella acting like a sail it tends to twist.
  2. The drink holder is at a strange angle, which spills very full beverages. Solution: drink faster!

I don't know why so many people keep posting that here. Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like you can buy those on Amazon for $30-50 a dozen, depending on options. So roughly in the same price range between Titleist's TourSoft and ProV1/x.

Those look rather old. I found a more modern set by Falcon called the Fireblade and it seems like they are primarily sold in the UK. If you need clubs tomorrow and thats all you can find they should at least be able to get you on the course. If you had more time you could certainly do better than that set for the money. I would probably up the budget to 150-200 and get a starter set from Intech, Goden Bear, Wilson, PineMeadow or whatever brand your local big box store stocks. Something like this $189 Callaway Strata set or this $119 Confidence set or this $166 Wilson set are all miles better technology and quality wise especially if you plan to keep playing after this event.

I remember having a Falcon brand bowling ball 15+ years ago, if I had to take a guess they were a low end sporting good manufacturer for a few years and then were sold off or changed names.

From another perspective, it might be worth it just for the putter. Looks like an older BeCu Anser.

Edit: I had a look at the search results for golf clubs on craigslist for your area and in the same price range the Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour, and Acuity sets are all much better options that the set you posted.

I saw something interesting at sports authority today when I was walking around. Didn't stop to take a full look but it essentially looked like a lockable case for a bag with clubs in it similar to a pelican case you'd use for rifles or other valuable stuff.

Keeping your head directly over the ball, keeping your head still throughout the stroke, making contact in the center if the face, and making sure my stroke did not arc on short putts. Many pros use them. You can get one on ebay for about 30 bucks and it will help you more than getting a new putter ever could. It also works great at home while watching tv. If you can't tell I highly recommend getting one. I also recommend getting a seemore putter if you really want to make all your short putts. Ernie els is a perfect example of switching to a seemore and going from the infamous 6 putt to leaning the tour in strokes gained putting over the last 4 or so weeks.

Looks like its a few panels of some cheap building material on the front screen. The back screen isn't particularly nice either.

Whole thing probably cost a little more than $1000, but not a ton. Major factor here is how much he chose to spend on the projector and if he did the frame himself/has a guy vs if he had to find a shop to make it for him.

>Why us?: We're a team of mediocre golfers, so we feel like we understand what the average golfer who wants to improve their game wants... and at the very least we can use our own app :). In addition, we believe we have the technical chops, as well as drive, tenacity, hustle, and vision to be successful.

Okay, then why isn't it "mediocre golfers who knocked a combined 37 strokes off our game?" First off, this needs no computer, no internet connection, no mobile phone to test and produce a result for the end user. You go. Somebody watches. You get tips. Your score drops. No electricity required.

>Our app allows you to film yourself golfing

A programming language 'allows' anyone to build an app. The reason they don't is they can't. Usability is key here. And if you're not throwing in one of these, you're limiting your market.

>we believe there is an untapped market for longer term, consistent feedback, where you can get better slowly over time.

You show me your [smoke test.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_testing_(lean_startup) I'll show you belief is not required.

Because your belief refutes every bit of marketing for the sports improvement and fitness industry (Think Eight Minute Abs) from the last thirty years. The Internet user has the attention span of a fruit fly. I know, let's get them better at golf in mo ... oh look somthin' shiny.

And who is the feedback coming from? Tiger Woods? Or any retard good at putt-putt you can get your greasy crowdsourcing fingers on?

Golfers, in general, already get better over long time periods. Every guy in a twosome or larger gets tips on their game from an informed amateur.

When my brother started, we picked up a full set off Amazon. They aren't great, but if you hit a quality shot the ball goes where it should. As he slowly got better, we added in new clubs one at a time (first a real driver, then some nice wedges, etc).

here it is http://www.amazon.com/Potty-Putter-Toilet-Time-Golf/dp/B000LC65QA

its so unique and cool and funny and you can go to the toilet and you can still play golf with it :)

I did the same. Works pretty great. Seems to have held up better than friends with actual trap cases. Also, can be cheaper...
Golf case $160 http://www.amazon.com/SKB-2SKB-4812WS-Standard-Golf-Travel/dp/B0007VNZDG
Trap case $310 http://www.amazon.com/SKB-Large-Hardware-Internal-Wheels/dp/B0002F79CK

Now, they're not exactly the same obviously, but they can pretty much do the exact same job.

If I'd be paying in the $200 range for the pre-owned Callaway's, how do you feel about buy this new Callaway set on Amazon?

So this all prompted when my brother bought me this:

http://www.amazon.com/Swingyde-Golf-Swing-Training-Aid/dp/B000OZI256/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347493162&sr=8-2&keywords=golf+swing

It does not work for me at all because i do not rotate my wrist during my swing.

hold up - is that the same one as this one ... cause that seems like a deal

I bought this mat. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058DECVC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So far very pleased with that as well. Durable and padded enough that it doesn't hurt if you come in too steep.

I got this one... Been outside for almost 2 years (in florida) and looks brand new.

These are what I've gamed for the last few years. Moderately priced and good feel. I slapped a set of midsize lampkins on there and I've been happy with them. ~$40 shipped for three wedges

I don't want to turn the free talk into a yard sale but I won a super nice push cart at a golf outing this summer (longest drive nbd). Definitely never gonna use it. I know there are lots of golfers on here (or buy it for your dad for xmas). $83.99 retail. https://www.amazon.com/CaddyTek-SuperLite-Deluxe-Golf-Push/dp/B00CFGUL2E?th=1

I'm going to guess it's the umbrella holder attachment for a 3 wheeled golf cart such as this.

Many on this sub will direct you to Costco to pick up some Kirkland Signature balls, because it's become a fad. Honestly, find some Wilson's or Top Flite's (gasp), those will be the cheapest options that aren't totally unusable.

Personally, I picked up 4 boxes of these Wilson's from Amazon, and they work fine for me. I'm not very good either, so take that for what it's worth. https://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Titanium-Ball-18-Pack/dp/B003BF8NSM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1480688155&sr=8-2&keywords=wilson+golf+ball

It's that flat black portion that made me question it, normal caddy's come back up in a "V" frame between the wheels. For example https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PP92H6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_IiXpzb79J482J
