Here is my take. I eat a smoothie almost everyday for breakfast.

First a few tips.

  1. Be mindful of everything you add. It is easy to get carried away and end up with some 2000cal, 200g carb monster. On the other hand, if your goal is to gain weight, it is easy to make these monsters as well.

  2. If you are adding frozen fruit, check the packaging for added sugar. I buy both frozen blueberries and mixed blue, marion, and raspberries at Costco which have no sugar added. The blueberries are even organic. There is no use trying to make a healthy breakfast shake if you are just chocking it full of added sugar. Might as well have Crunch Berries. mmmmm, Crunch Berries.

  3. Use any blender, it doesn't matter. I have a cheapo one and a vitamix, and I end up using the cheapo one more.

My daily shake. This is the order I put it in the blender. It seems to mix the best this way with the water and ice at the bottom and the more grainy/powdery stuff on top.

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup frozen berries
  • 2/3 cup delicious pumpkin/flax cereal ( nice good fats, oats, grains, carbs). You could also sub out the granola for oats. You will likely be lower calories, but you are losing the good omegas from the nuts.
  • 2-2.5 scoops protein powder
  • then I usually add my daily scoops of creatine and beta alanine.
  • sometimes I toss in a small handful of crushed walnuts as well.

I am usually a pretty big breakfast eater and this shake is surprisingly filling. Really the nicest thing is how easily you can tailor the nutritionally value and adjust it for any goal you really have.

Nature's path is for sale in Washington State and California. Amazon's been shipping it to my nephew for 3 years - all under the OU.

Ooo! Good stuff! Do you have a favorite granola? I keep this in the house at all times (when possible...sometimes CostCo runs out) specifically for greek yogurt/granola/fruit parfaits.

This is what my doctor gave me when he suggested I try low FODMAP - https://stanfordhealthcare.org/content/dam/SHC/for-patients-component/programs-services/clinical-nutrition-services/docs/pdf-lowfodmapdiet.pdf

This is another one I found with some examples of granola type bars that are low FODMAP:

I personally like this one, it might calm your sweet tooth and fill you up when you need a quick snack:

it's a pretty small snack, but sometimes what I do is get a cup and throw in some PB2 powered peanut butter. I mix it up with the water to make it then throw milk into it and eat it with a spoon as I drink the milk. It should work well with hot milk too. I also have this snack after a workout day and throw half a cup of Kind PB whole grain granola , but I dont suggest doing that for a late night snack because of the carbs.

This is mine. So amazingly delicious, I especially love the apple-cinnamon glazed almonds. Mixed with the sweetness of the yogurt-covered raisins and the crunch of the granola, it's a mouthgasm!
