Thanks man! Yea I was using this for a while; https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000MNMYDG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1483916456&sr=8-1&keywords=body+shop+brazil+nut+define+and+no+frizz but I just felt like it was costing too much for not much help. Problem is I'm in Hong Kong so ordering online is reasonably limited if I don't want massive shipping charges. I've got some argan oil that I use about once a week and that'll tame the frizz for a couple days. I'll see if I can find what you recommended and give it a go!

I have similar hair, with 2b/2c high porosity, fine, but super thick. I had a similar issue with my waves when I first started CG. I now use two gels in my hair in the following ways:

(1) First gel is JessieCurl Rockin' Ringlets, applied in the shower when my hair is soaking wet. I get the best results when I apply it using praying hands, then because my hair has a tendency to get flat at the roots, I like to rake it, then scrunch. If anything looks a little on the less defined side, I will gently twist those pieces for the definition.

(2) Then I only plop to about 10-15 minutes.

(3) 2nd gel is Curly Magic applied only a little bit via praying hands again. I then twist the bits that still look flat.

I find that I can't get lasting curl definition without any diffusing, so once I've applied all of my products, I diffuse my hair for 10-15 minutes and then air dry the rest of the way. You would think that by using two types of gel my hair would end up super hard and crunchy, but by using two different holds of gel, it actually helps the curl last for so much longer and is super soft to the touch.

A little goes a long with these products, too. I go through them about once every 3 months and my hair is halfway down my back. :)

Always really enjoyed CHI Heat Treat. It's an oil, so a little bit goes a long way.

I use this stuff.

you get a big-ass tube for like 8 dollars and basically After you shower and towel dry your hair, while its still sort of damp, you just squirt some in your hands, rub it on your palms and run it through your hair. Then you scrunch if you want and your hair will naturally coil up. gives your hair a mildly "crunchy" texture upon drying. It's like perfectly soft, but the curls will keep shape so it feels more like playing around with soft slinky's instead of sheep fur.

The models' hair is much shorter than yours, it also looks a little thinner, but with good product you'll be able to achieve a similar fit.

Start with a visit to the barbers, all you need is a standard short back and sides, and trim the length on top to suit, ask them to use the thinning scissors on top to finish off.

When styling your hair use a small amount of matt look wax or cream to style your hair into shape, you only need about a finger-tips worth, and warm it up in the palm of your hands before applying.

Once you have the shape right, the secret to finish this off is some styling oil, something like this. You should only need one squirt into your hands and then smooth into your hair, this will give it a light and smooth effect.
