It might be good for camping or tailgaiting. I'm sure it ridiculously expensive. Yup, it is https://www.amazon.com/Hammaka-Trailer-Chairs-Wooden-Dowels/dp/B00B3LPHUS

u/ProRustler · 14 pointsr/CampingandHiking

LiteSpeed straps are what I use, super fast to deploy, totally adjustable. Maybe a little heavier than the ultralight stuff, but I think it's worth it.

I was sure I was the first person to create a hitch hammock. The frame of the hammock/chair would hook onto the ball hitch of a truck while the seat was suspended over the ground. I even drew up a schematic and counted all my chickens before they hatched.

My heart sunk when I seen one at a tailgate party.

I went with a ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 1-Person Tent for sleeping with a Camp Solutions Lightweight Self-Inflating Air Sleeping Pad. Had a 40 degree bag/quilt from Walmart since I was traveling in August time frame.

I just put all that into a waterproof 45L bag I had and then shoved my clothes into a backpack on top. Jerry rigged a canvas bag on the side for quick access things like tools and such. Here's the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072ZV5KNP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_lwtTAbZAB9SZP
It doesn't fold so much as it breaks apart to fit in a case without tools required (screws with knobs.) I don't know that I would backpack with it, as it's still decently heavy metal tubing, but I could easily break down my sleeping arrangement and fit it in my two door hatchback. This was not true of my wooden twin sized bed and matresss.
I can't make any promises or full on endorsements, but mine works well for me. Doesn't wobble. Fits in my 10x11 bedroom just fine.

u/scotch_please · 4 pointsr/BDSMcommunity

I think you'll want to search for hammock or outdoor stands, not indoor furniture ones (which seem to be smaller). This one says it's 7 ft tall. So if the length of arm that's restrained straight above someone's head is around 17", I think your partner would have to be no more than 5'5" to feel like they're being faux-hanged. Any taller and they'd have too much slack around the restraints.

u/Chiisapeake · 3 pointsr/Hammocks

I know you said good hammock, not cheapest hammock that works, but I have this: https://www.amazon.com/Lazy-Daze-Hammocks-Portable-Carrying/dp/B01J9K5S94/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=lazy%2Bdaze&qid=1557578230&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1

Thats a good price if you want a stand with it for the price.

I sleep in it every night and haven't had a single issue and its comfy. Some of the comments say it arrived broken but mine didn't and you could probably just return it. Its easy to set up too.

If you're just looking for a hammock for $150 then probably not this.

I started using hammock straps and soft shackles to attach the rings since I had them already and didn't have a suitable marker. I kinda like the setup.

u/IHateDolphins · 2 pointsr/santashelpers

What if she had a hammock like this

I would love if my husband got me this and some other small things -weighted blankets are popular right now, high quality stemless wine glasses, or a silk pillowcase.

https://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Big-Mozzi-Hammock-Green/dp/B01EJ5CEIC/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535765553&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=twisted+root+bugnet

10ft hammock with built-in bugnet. Here is their tarp: https://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Cloudburst-Rainfly-Smoke-Grey/dp/B01EJ5CLK8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535765596&sr=8-1&keywords=twisted+root+tarp&dpID=41dtt-TghjL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I would recommend not getting one with a tarp built in. If you are concerned with setup time, get a ridgeline and snakeskins for your tarp, and some sort of adjustable tarp suspension hardware like dutchware offers. Then it's a cinch to set up and take down, but you don't HAVE to set it up if you don't need it for a given evening. I like to attach mine to the tree but leave it in the snakeskins, so if the weather changes directions I can very quickly unroll it and stake it down, but otherwise leave it out of the way

I have a Skeeter Beeter hammock I picked up off Amazon a few years ago for $65. It has the mosquito net built in, and I just bought a $40 hammock rain fly to go over it. It's cheap, and is rated to hold up to 400lbs. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Trunk-Skeeter-Mosquito-Hammock/dp/B01DLMFQ3E

u/brzcory · 2 pointsr/Hammocks

Love my Skeeter Beater Pro.

http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Trunk-Skeeter-Mosquito-Hammock/dp/B01DLMFQ3E

I've actually done car trips with it, camping overnight on the side of the road (Well, usually it was rest stops). Never got hassled or anything. Good times. That was down in the Carolina's, then towards Florida and back last summer.

I was fine without an underquilt, but my sleeping bag was very expensive, and it was summer.

u/pgpkreestuh · 2 pointsr/Hammocks
u/leostotch · 2 pointsr/camping

Eno is a very good brand, and have been in the market for a while. That doesn't mean your setup will be bad, though.

For suspension - try a set of Atlas Straps or something similar. I recently got a set after using a more homebrew solution for quite some time, and I'll never go back.

u/mike_burn · 2 pointsr/Ultralight

The Golden Eagle Single isn't as light (weighs in at 1lb), but is a solid hammock if you can't afford one of the other ones mentioned (it's only $15).

u/senseandsarcasm · 2 pointsr/Hammocks

I'll second the Brazilian hammock suggestion. I'm a warm sleeper and the all-cotton nature seems to be the most comfortable to me.

I've slept in a Mayan as well, which is also very comfortable. I don't care for the materials used in camping hammocks, though, so those are off
my list.

I use a small pillow behind my head and a tiny pillow under my knees. I also was a stomach sleeper, but find I can sleep quite comfortably on my back diagonally on a hammock. The head being slightly higher helps.

I don't bolt mine into the walls. I have a compact hammock stand. It's similar to this one. I find a good cotton Brazilian hammock will last about a year or year and a half and then I replace it when it gets too stretched out or some of the strings start fraying. You can buy a good one for $50-125 though, which I think is reasonable for a year's worth of good sleep.

u/kirbydanger · 2 pointsr/woodworking

Got rough plans from a hammock forum online, decided to beef them up- original plans called for regular 2x4 construction, I wanted to make this strong enough to potentially hold me and my wife. Everything in this project can hold at least 500+ lbs, I think... we shouldn't come anywhere close to testing its limits.

Construction was primarily AC2 treated Cedartone 2x6s from Menards. Legs were 4x4s from the same material. Net was from Amazon, rated at 550 lbs:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015X6OYYS/

Carabiners also from Amazon, rated at over 2k pounds, these hook to the eye bolts for an easy way to attach/detach the netting so that we can bring it inside when not in use, hopefully extend its life.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3V3MKM/

The hammock structure will remain in place all year long, and hopefully last a while, the wood is rated for ground contact. It's freaking heavy & awkward, and I don't look forward to ever having to move it again...

u/Insaniac99 · 2 pointsr/hammockcamping

> So I'd really appreciate any advice anyone might have in that realm. A cozy plush hammock where weight doesn't matter, only sheer comfort.

I've heard really good things about the Mayan Hammocks.

I would not hang it from the eaves you pictured. Those are basically decorative, not really structural. Since you're renting, I would get a hammock chair stand https://www.amazon.com/Sorbus-Hammock-Hanging-Loungers-Capacity/dp/B071NN2LDZ

u/ThrowAway-7219 · 1 pointr/SexToys

We have been thinking about this too and are in a similar situation. Instead of a big bulky stand we were thinking of using something like this swinging chair stand and attaching whatever swing we can find. Though we haven’t done it yet. That way it’s easy to hide since it’s just “furniture”.

I'm debating on making space for one of these or a couple of these. The ability to lay down off the ground and outside a tent would be nice.

I own two Dutchware hammocks, a Single Layer 1.6 and a Double Layer 1.6. Think of stretchiness sort of like mattress firmness. My Double supports my heavy bits (hips, shoulders) a bit more than the single, where they tend to sink a bit. (I'm about 200lbs.) I switch back and forth every 2 months or so (I sleep nightly in a hammock). I've been considering a single layer Hexon 2.4 to have a "middle of the road" between the 1.6 and the Double 1.6.

I didn't buy the double because I wanted to use it with a pad, but it is a nice option. (I've got 2 underquilts anyhow). If you're serious about cold weather camping "more than once" or "more than infrequently", I'd highly recommend leaning towards an underquilt yourself. For $150, you can get a really nice 20°F Hammock Gear Incubator ECON.

"Wide" is not currently available at Dutchware, just standard width. Both of my dutchwares that I currently own are "Wide" (72") hammocks and while I like them, after spending a year and a half in them, I don't really see the need for extra width. Extra length of a dutchware (11') is more than sufficient for a good ASYM Lay. "Double" sized hammocks are a myth. Sure, you can fit two people in them, but do not for one moment think that co-sleeping in a hammock is any kind of blissful situation. Your heavy-and-hard bits will collide and when hips are force-taco'ed together, it get's sore and cramped quick. For a short siesta, no big deal, just not overnighting and napping.

As for a Rain Fly, I recommend looking on Amazon at the Hennessy Hex Fly. Coming in under $70, it's no the lightest, but it's well built and has great coverage. Watch out for those "deals" on amazon for no-name and "small brand mass produced clone" tarps as they're usually a bit small to accomodate a smaller hammock. Set up right, an 11' Dutchware will have a Ridgeline just barely over 9' long (83%). The Hennessy Hex fly has a ridgeline of almost 12', giving you roughly a foot and a half of coverage on both ends. This is a good all-weather tarp and will take you through a storm. After that, I'd consider a cheap "fair weather" tarp.

It seems good to have a try. I have this hammock now, it is much cheaper, but the quality is good. I only use it when I go caming in my summer vacation with my friend. It is a 2 person hommock and can hold 330lbs, which is suitalbe for us.

u/skas182 · 1 pointr/camping

https://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Big-Mozzi-Hammock-Green/dp/B01EJ5CEIC/ maybe? The reviews are decent, comments from various people that've bought them in the past seem to put them in line with ENO, Bear Butt, and the other entry-mid level hammocks.

u/JustAGuyInFlorida · 1 pointr/bonnaroo

I highly recommend this one. The single is around $12 and the double is around $20. I have a couple of these and Enos - and there is no difference! These are the cheapest I've found that are comparable to Eno. I have a couple other cheap ones too I've found for less than $12, and they don't compare.

Thanks for the really in-depth answer. I do have access to a sewing machine and know the basics. I'm not sure if the machine would be up to the job of sewing the webbing though.

I was searching a bit and also found that there are hammock straps like this, which look they would do the same job for cheaper with some biners. The biggest difference is that they are only 3/4'' I can't see much of a practical advantage to thicker straps though.

u/WheNICU · 1 pointr/Hammocks

And here's one that looks just the same as the suspension system, but a bit cheaper:
http://www.amazon.com/Ultralight-Hammock-Tree-Straps-Set/dp/B0179AO5AY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1458064569&sr=8-3&keywords=hammock+straps

Any experience with this brand?

u/sirbearus · 1 pointr/sex

The best use I have found for it is to move myself just a touch away from her and use my arms to pull her on to my erection. As the standing position also does, it take 100% of my weight off her body and allows her free access to play with her clit for maximum stimulation.

The one I have came from here.

I think that this one is a very budget friendly one that could be put up in a more open place like the living room and could be fun.
https://www.amazon.com/Sorbus-Hanging-Hammock-Cushions-Included/dp/B010GA2X1M

I would suggest also making sure that you buy a good quality spring for the connection for the last one and rated carabiniers if you plan to take it down.

When putting up ceiling hooks in shared places, potted plants hanging from the ceiling make a nice way to hide the more naughty uses.

We have a very active and enjoyable sex life :)
