Normally, I would recommend you buy a tuxedo. I think it's a worthwhile investment. However, given your budget situations, I'm going to recommend you rent it... but not from your local store. You have two weeks, so here we go:

Rent from The Black Tux. It's been mentioned on GQ and was put together with input from Peter of The Black Tie Guide. Slim fitting tuxedos, not the baggy stuff from Men's Wearhouse.

Entirely depends on their availability, but I would recommend the following:

Modern Peak Lapel Jacket - https://theblacktux.com/collection/tuxedos/modern-slim-peak-lapel - $110

Since you haven't worn tuxedos before, start here. Sartorially correct (one button, peak lapel, etc). Skinny lapels, but whatever.

Tuxedo Shirt - https://theblacktux.com/collection/shirts/white-dress-shirt - $15

There are differences between your standard white dress shirt and a tuxedo shirt. Trust me and get this one (laydown collar, not wing collar)

Bowtie: Skip the bowtie on the website. Pre-tied looks lame. Buy a self-tie one from Amazon. Here's one from The Tie Bar for $18 or a cheap one for $6

Tying is easy. Just use Youtube to learn. It's like tying shoelaces.

Cufflinks and Studs (these go in your shirt) for $10 total.

Accessories:

Suspenders to hold up your pants. $10. Or you can buy a pair from Men's Wearhouse for $35
, along with this bowtie since they're having a BOGO

Cummerbund to buy for $15. Creates an unbroken line. Please wear this.

White Pocket Square for $10 to buy from Amazon. Just puff it up. Not 100% necessary, but nice.

If you have a nice pair of black dress shoes (read: Oxfords with laces, not loafers, and nothing with a square toe), you can polish those up nicely (get them professionally done and ask for it extra shiny) or you can rent these patent leather shoes or non-patent, black leather shoes for $20 if necessary.

Total Price: $220. Can be completely scaled down if you have some of the accessories (black dress shoes, pocket square, suspenders, etc), which could bring it down to $180.

Phew, that was exhausting.

Good luck and crush it.

This was just the first google result I got but anyway, might I suggest a white pocket square with a black edge to set off with the tie and shirt.

Why not, I'll try giving you some different options, long night at work as well.... Also, the items i've listed range from very basic to very expensive. The most important thing that this outfit has going for it is fit. Focus on the fit. It also doesn't hurt that Beckham's wearing it and he's crazy good looking.

You can get cheap, decent-looking white pocket squares at your local Ross, TJ Maxx, or even thrift store. I bought a three pack for like $5, and they're still classy.

Amazon has a 6-pack for $10.

Well, you'll need the suit - if bespoke tailoring is out of the question, then something made-to-measure could work. You're looking for notch lapel with functional boutonniere button, no ticket pocket, no pocket flaps and a cuff in the pants. When you bring it to a tailor, show him this photo - this will let him know you don't want more modern, slim adjustments. A white pocket square gets nestled in your breast pocket.

The shirt and tie are next – you can go button down collar or not. there are several collar styles, search around for the best approximation. The tie pattern will be difficult to match exactly, but you're looking for a dot pattern on brown. A gold tie clip holds the tie in place.

The shoes aren't very detailed, but don't appear to be wingtips, so that leave you something with a cap-toe or something with a plain toe, both in brown of course. With the hat, I really suggest you take a look around a local hat-makers because you'll need to try one on for fit.

These are all just suggestions, depending on your price range you can find similar versions, just try to match the illusrtation as closely as possible. If you're in a store, bring along the picture, it'll be easier to find what you need if you can show people. Best of luck in your searching and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also severe allergy sufferer (currently in the midst of allergy shots to try and kill them) and the switch to handkerchiefs was partially because we were using so many kleenex on a day to day basis. I generally take a clean one with me to work (2 if it's bad tree pollen day) and then blow and fold over the course of the day. Once i get home I will switch out if my hankie is particularly gross but usually it's not that bad. Since they are thicker then tissues there is less "gross" factor in reusing. Oh also don't bother with women's hankies, they are tiny. The men's ones are awesome since they are bigger, I use this particular set (http://www.amazon.com/Wedding-Purple-Hankies-Presentation-MH1031/dp/B003Z034F0/ref=sr_1_23?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1396536708&sr=1-23) and they are super soft. For some reason the purple ones from this collection are softer then the blue, I have no idea why that is, I may just happen to wash/use them more frequently.
