Ok, here's what you do:

Get yourself some Preparation H Cooling Gel and some witch hazel wipes - all of which should be available at your local pharmacy. Use them every single time you go.

The other thing you need to do to decide if you need to go to the doctor is find out if this hemorrhoid is on the inside or the outside. If it's prolapsed (on the outside) - which makes it especially painful - you can try using a little bit of lube to push it back in yourself. If it's not, just keep applying the Preparation H.

Also, try spending as little time as possible on the toilet. It sounds silly, but the way your butt slopes into the bowl can irritate it further on top of trying to just poop.

It may take a few days before you see any difference. A little Aleve or Advil can go a long way too.

I hope you start feeling better! Hemorrhoids suck.

Consider internal hemorrhoids.

We are a 20 minute drive from the hospital and husband will not leave my side, so I'd like to get everything in. I'm a notorious overpacker, too, but I'd rather have something I don't need than have not have something that I do need.

> If you have hemorrhoids that have been around forever and only very rarely bleed or cause problems is it okay to engage in anal stimulation or even penetration?

For exterior anal stimulation that is done gently, you shouldn't have too much problem depending on how bad the hemorrhoids are, and whether they are external. For anal penetration of any sort, I would think you or your partner would have to be very, very gentle in addition to waiting for you to relax and comfortably accommodate whatever is inserted in your anus (start small like with one finger, and work up to larger insertions over time as you are comfortable). And that your sense of pain or discomfort would be very important to pay attention to, which is typical of anyone receiving anal penetration anyways (absolutely no lube that has numbing agents in it!), and thusly tell your partner to stop and slowly remove what is in you if you experience that. Your partner should also probably keep an eye out for blood in case in case this happens and you don't notice any discomfort.

> Will it cause them to worsen?

I'm not a doctor, so this is not professional medical advice. Although I'm not sure that doctors necessarily know the answer to this either, as they probably don't get trained in what anal play does to the health of the anus, rectum, and hemorrhoids. But I'm willing to be proved wrong. I would think that as long as the hemorrhoids are not irritated, or ruptured, you will probably be alright. In my own experience, anal play on myself has actually caused a very minor internal hemorrhoid to go away. (I'll come back to this later)

> Do they ever "go away"?

They can. There are two approaches, but keep in mind that they can come back if you do not take preventative measures 1 and 2 which may require lifestyle changes for you.

Here's the options for western medical treatment.

And here's the options I'm aware of for alternative treatments 1 and 2.

In my own experience, my use of Aneros prostate massagers and possibly dildos helped a minor hemorrhoid go away. My understanding is that the involuntary anal contractions that the Aneros prostate massagers cause, which the the High Island Peristal is also based upon by having a tapered and thusly unbalanced stem, help strengthen those muscles and also increases blood flow which can make hemorrhoids go away. Read through the links on the left hand side of the Peristal web page and also read through their forum. (High Island is the parent company of Aneros. High Island markets their products for health benefits, Aneros for sexual pleasure.)

> Is this a turn off to most people or not a huge deal?

For me it's not a problem. The partner I care for deeply about that would want this I totally would do so and not be bothered by her hemorrhoids as I want to give her as much sexual pleasure as she would like. But I think what you are really asking is will your own partner, or any new potential partners want to do this with you. That is something you will have to talk with them about and tell them what your physical condition is in regard to having hemorrhoids. Some may be fine with it, others not. You won't know until you communicate your desires.

Edit: Also see this post which applies to either gender receiving anal play of any sort.

Credit kitty!

I have three black cats, so... I shall choose one of them to talk about. This is Archie. People say he looks like Salem the cat from a programme I watched as a kid called "Sabrina, The Teenaged Witch".

Archie is funny. He likes fuss, and cuddles. He once shredded a caravan awning. He catches lots of mice, and also has a habit of bringing half-eaten slugs into the house.

As for a specific wishlist item - this is what I need the most, as I'm about to have my baby and witch hazel is very soothing for... afterwards.

I suffered from these buggers, in my previous pregnancy as well as this one.
Let me introduce you to 2 lifesaving items I used in previous pregnancy and just ordered for this one:

So sorry you are dealing with this. I find these to be incredibly painful. This cream has been a godsend to me. It’s hard to find in stores, but available online. Name is Tranolane, and can be used for other skin issues since it has no odor.

Best of luck! Tronolane Anesthetic Cream for Hemorrhoids, Dual-Action Formula, 2 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GG6CGE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5v6HDbEN0GJG9

I was using a lot of suppositories after I delivered, do to some massive hemmies and a fissure. I began to get concerned about the cortizone, because I think it thins the skin if you use it too long (check with the doc on that one). Then spent an embarrassing amount of time reading "chronic hemorrhoid sufferer" message board.

A winner among the hemmie people was Calmol suppositories. There is no hydrocortizone in them, but they effing worked for me. They're also a much more butt-friendly shape. The cortizone-based ones always make my butt feel weird, but Calmol didn't. I keep them in the freezer, btw.

Also, stick the witch hazel (Tucks) pads or a cotton ball soaked in witch hazel on your butt when you're done with the bathroom and just leave it in there.

I've been there girl, and they suck so so so so so bad. Mine finally healed and now I'm pregnant again, damnit.

Tucks pads, ibuprofen, fiber, and I used this cream that I read was better than prep-h. Tronolane Hemorrhoid Cream - 1 Oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004LTDMR4?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

There are tons of creams and stuff you can try but there is also a product that you freeze and use to help internal and external hemorrhoids. There are two similar products, actually (sorry I have no experience with these so I can't tell you if they work but there are plenty of reviews on Amazon):

http://www.amazon.com/Anuice-Approved-Medical-Hemorrhoid-Treatment/dp/B003840WFS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1396396698&sr=8-3&keywords=hemorrhoid

I was just reading reviews for these and one reviewer of the first product posted what helped cure hemmorhoids for himself (or herself?):
