These, and small cameras alike, have given me near existential anxiety ever since they hit the market a while ago.

How many screws have I encountered over the years were actually cameras? Is my life some Truman Show shit?

u/akelew · 95 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

Please, buy one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Detector-Wireless-Signal-Listening-Scanner/dp/B07B93347H

And use it to sweep your whole house for bugs.

I wouldnt be surprised if the reason she is parking near the front of your house is so that she can be within wireless range of the bugs to watch/listen to what you are saying inside.

Nanny cams frequently have LEDs, but hidden cameras of the creeper landlord variety frequently don't because the whole point is to be discreet. Someone who lives there is gonna notice it even if it has a window over the LED.

Fun fact: that Amazon listing in the link used to have an example picture of someone installing the thing in a public bathroom.

Ooohhhhh I found some really good “spy cams” recently hang on I’ll find them on Amazon again.....

There are some “comparable products” there too that look pretty solid, but I got 2 of these and set them up in about 15 minutes, can check the feeds from my phone and having my computer record the video.

  1. Change your locks, like yesterday

  2. If he has cameras they will probably be on his wifi network, not yours, so the network analysis isn't going to help. You have to physically look for them. Something like this can help: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FF2N13V/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_Db-7CbK8MGT55

  3. Get a camera of your own. There are lots, but this is one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076H3SRXG/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_zd-7CbY7B400J

You can buy one on Amazon by the way, if you feel like being a spy.

Don't know how you'd hide one in a bathroom stall though, since they need a power cable and video cable that leads to a DVR to work. It's just a camera sensor, it can't record.

u/Ilubalu · 8 pointsr/RBI

Just a little FYI.

If you want to share an Amazon product page, the only part of the URL that has to be shared is the part up to the ASIN

like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FF2N13V/ (with or without that slash at the end)

If you want to share a search like yours, the only part needed is the URL up to the search terms. Hence, like this:

like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=spy+camera+detector

You can, of course, carry on sharing long URLs as you did, but according to this webpage that goes into explaining long Amazon URLs, "using a full-width URL on a search will leave a trail that goes back to you!" That just means that Amazon knows you (or your machine) is the one sharing links. This is probably not something to be concerned about. If all of this is TMI, please just disregard this comment.

u/camwow13 · 7 pointsr/MovieDetails

That's assuming the camera has an infared LED for night vision. The easiest way to find a hidden camera is buy a 15 dollar doohicky like this. You look through the filter and you can see the reflection of the sensor through the lens as a bright red dot. Here's a video of a guy testing one out. You can search around YouTube for more.

When you can buy a camera that looks like a screw for less than 20 bucks it's not the worst thing in the world to be wary.

There is a spy camera that looks just like a pen, she could put it in a pencil holder on her desk to record the needed evidence, otherwise it would just be her word against his.

If she uses a laptop with integrated webcam at work, she could also use it to record the video. There are many programs that allow you to do this.

Good luck!

u/Defenestrationism · 4 pointsr/aspergers

Just remember, assaulting kids, even if they are being absolute shits, can get you in a lot of trouble. It's best to try to just leave and avoid further confrontation if you can't summon local authorities in a timely fashion. If something like this ever starts to happen again, it might be a good idea to try to video-record their behavior on a cellphone camera so you can show the cops what they were doing in case they try to lie about it. It might also be a good idea to backup the video to a flashdrive or other media and leave it with a trusted friend/family member before you even contact authorities, just in case the cops or anyone involved in the resulting case happens to be corrupt and the evidence ends up conveniently 'lost'. It's pretty damn hard to lie about what's clear on a video and, if you are in the U.S., in most places it's completely legal to record anything happening in a public space. Privately owned spaces... it depends on local/state laws. Something like this is also potentially very useful if you are wishing to record their behavior on the down-low without them knowing they are being recorded. Just slip it into a breast-pocket on your shirt or into your shirt collar in such a way that the lens is facing outward and stand facing whatever incident is happening for long enough to capture whatever it is.

Edit: be sure you are aware of local/state laws if covertly recording someone. If you do it in an area where it isn't legal, at best it's inadmissible in court, at worst it can result in charges against you, depending on the authorities and laws.

u/bitter_truth_ · 4 pointsr/aspergers

You sound like a smart guy, troubleshoot yourself. Get a spy-cam and record yourself interacting with people in different scenarios: coffee shops, bars, etc (not workplace for obvious legal reasons). Take notes of what you do well and what seems odd. Even if you don't recognize the issues immediately, you probably watch enough movies to know what NT's act like.

The baseline for normal behavior will become more clear and you'll start seeing what turns off people about your behavior (e. inappropriate eye contact like staring, odd fidgeting, speaking too much or using sentences that are too long, inappropriate conversation topics, funny abnormal voice, etc etc.).

It's hard for aspis to recognize in real-time people's reactions to what we do. On video, you can pause, rewind and be emotionally detached from the situation to be better able to analyze it post-mortem. There's a reason fighter pilots, doctors, and athletes like football players use post-briefing video to see which mistakes they make. It works.

Most importantly: remember to be kind to yourself. Self confidence is a major issue for most Aspis. Your inner monologue should not be berating yourself (i.e "way to go idiot, I knew you'd fuck this up"). Talk to yourself as if you're talking to a friend. Be your coach-mentor and buddy. You have to love yourself first before other people can truly like you rather than feel sorry for you.

Don't give up kiddo, other people have been where you're at and were able to pull through. You can do it.

p.s: here's a good cam (small, cheap, inconspicuous):

mini camera/video recorder

small as hell

pen camera

looks like a pen. I personally own this. Not bad, takes some getting used to when aiming. Can clip to book/pocket/pad etc.

u/TangoMike22 · 3 pointsr/whatisthisthing

They make cameras small enough to fit in a screw. They make cameras that can fly (drones.) They make camera lenses so big that you can be miles away, and it looks like the photos was taken 5 feet away. Screen capture, keystroke loggers, spyware, microphones, etc. If someone wants to spy on you, they'll find a way.

Is that really just a router? Well unless you open it up to look for a camera or mic, you'll never know. Unless there's some reason for them to spy on you instead not the person at the desk next to you, it's not probably not there to spy on you.

u/schmoogina · 3 pointsr/callcentres

This. Honestly, if someone wanted to steal information, airplane mode means the cell detector isn't going to detect anything. Better yet, buy something along the lines of this and you're good. Just treat your employees properly and the risk is mitigated

I got one of these edoscopes.

Upside: you can do things your phone can't, like get taped to a wire fish. Downside: You need a pc to view the image...which is silly because everyone's phone could easily show the image if only you could connect it.

u/xpxp2002 · 3 pointsr/Netatmo

I see a 25% discount when I go to https://shop.netatmo.com/usd_en

For example, the Netatmo Outdoor camera (formerly Presence) is normally $299. It shows $224 currently.

That's also reflected on Amazon, who has discounted their price to $229. They often try to match or closely match manufacturer price drops and promotions.

I've used my body cam that I have for work a few times during rides and surprisingly enough, it does pretty okay! Not the best, or worse footage. For the purpose of general commuting, I'd say it would work pretty well! Easily 8 hours of battery life on a single charge (1080p, no GPS on)

There is also an 808 keychain that you could by an lens extension and make your own pendant so the camera is on the top of the pendant/front center rather than on the side.

I think having something wireless is much better but as long as its hidden and you're sure that LEO's won't get to it, then I think you're fine. But if that one you showed could somehow stream instantly via your phone in your pocket, that would be killer. I think you can download, but not stream live to a cloud without getting your phone out and requesting it. Not sure if I made sense. But do you have any idea why it was suspended??

Because I have researched techniques of this stuff. Literally go to a porn site or something and search "dressing room." You'll see exactly what I'm talking about. People put keychain cameras like this one (https://www.amazon.com/808-Keychain-Camera-HD-Products/dp/B019EJ78NE) in their shoe as they change in the neighboring room. Because it just looks like keys it doesn't raise any suspicion. Some stores (forever21, express, etc.) have poorly designed dressing rooms with 2 ft gaps on the side of the dressing room walls and the changing rooms are unisex. Whoever thought that was a good idea was not thinking clearly and this caused lots of problems. The most famous guy ever was a user named "CBR" or something like that. He had over 200 videos of dressing rooms, window spying, etc. He went to prison for a long time because he got cocky and started going to the same stores too many times and was caught.

Other than that there was another famous incident in the mid 2000s where some guy would sneak into a vacant property in a strip mall next to a tanning salon. He'd climb into the ceiling and film down as girls would get in and out of the tanning booths as they were naked.

u/bphilly_cheesesteak · 1 pointr/homeautomation

Lots of people I know want this kind of solution.

Unfortunately, I think your best option is to just get a wifi IP camera and tie it into a solar panel and battery.

Or an "all of the above" product like this: https://www.amazon.com/KKmoon-Outdoor-Security-Battery-Powered/dp/B01IF3LWZ0/

However, your mileage may vary.

u/badgerfrance · 1 pointr/funny

Except here's the big problem with that. A camera isn't any easier to place because it looks like a camera. The person who's in legal trouble is the person who places the camera.

u/yieldingTemporarily · 1 pointr/privacy

There are some things we can't find out, unfortunately.

If that's https://www.amazon.com/Screw-Head-Mini-Hidden-Camera/dp/B01493DMX0 for sale on amazon... what's not?

Obviously that doesn't matter to most of us, as people aren't that sophisticated usually

u/UGotSchlonged · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

If you are looking for a really small video camera, I use this one mounted under a toy quadcopter to take videos. It's not fantastic, but it works good enough to play around with.

I also got one of these when I was doing some work in my house. It lets you see down drainpipes and into walls. Doesn't work all that great, to be honest.

Do you have a mobile telephonic device handy? Most humans in 2017 have one. Probably has a camera, it's very very small.

And after a 30 second google search. Amazon has a camera smaller than a finger for $9.96

Not quite button size, but much smaller than a GoPro.

There is another one here that sounds like it's a Foscam outdoor camera mated to a panel/battery combo.

The one reviewer with the birdbath photos uses Blue Iris to monitor it and the camera installs as a Foscam. I've got about 24 Foscam cameras and the work pretty well for the price.

u/KatanaDelNacht · 1 pointr/rocketry

Definitely accelerometer (maybe high G range for launch, lower G range for higher precision throughout flight), temp, pressure, & GPS is a decent selection. Add a magnetometer, maybe? Cameras are always nice. This one has been posted here previously.

Note: GPS might not record if you break...500km/hr, I believe. This is to prevent you from using it for any nefarious guidance purposes.

u/iwouldnotknow · 0 pointsr/running

For running, I recommend trying to keep the camera as small and lightweight as possible. It is also important that the camera be waterproof since he will be sweating on the camera.
