I had only one at 32, via c-section as well. Similar situation as far as living 20-25min away from the NICU where my babe is. We’ve formed a routine over the last 3 weeks (he’s still learning to take the bottle). Recovery is hard, but I can share what’s worked for us.

Re: c-section — You’ll likely be walking quite a bit. As hard as this seems, I think it’s partially what led me to a quick healing process. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are going to be life for a couple weeks. I wore a belly band about a week after surgery. This made a huge difference in how I was able to move around. Granny panties (the cheap kind from Hanes work well...I joked w/my husband when we were looking at the store, “I want my belly button to disappear” bc that’s how high they went) are super helpful as well. If you can sleep somewhat elevated, it helped me in getting in and out of bed for about the first two weeks. My morning coffee also has a scoop of collagen in it; I’m not a doctor, but I have healed really well & I think this has helped, possibly. I’ve tried to rest when I can, walk when I have to, and accept all the crazy changes I have no control over.

I also attempt to control the little things. My phone’s alarms were set up every few hours and labeled either “Ibuprofen/Motrin + pump” or “Tylenol + pump.” I can send you my exact routine if you’re interested. I pump 8-10x/day and am currently producing just enough for my 35+4 little man, so I’m not stellar but I’m still going. I keep reminding myself that my only goal is to keep pumping and I’ll worry about production more once he’s actually home.

Re: visits to the hospital — Not being able to sleep there has been one of the biggest challenges for us, especially with me healing from a c-section. We’re also trying to budget, so eating at the hospital 2-3x/day isn’t ideal either. We have a daily schedule to visit for two of his cares, one at 9am and the other at 3pm. This gives me the opportunity to have some broken sleep (yay for pumping) and we eat at home. I sometimes squeeze in a nap before the 3pm visit, which helps. We also plan on staying in between visits once he gets closer to coming home.

Having the slight breaks gives us time to take care of our dogs, the house, and attempt to nest bc that didn’t happen how I had planned before he decided to make an appearance. Not to mention, we had moved to an new state just three weeks before I went into labor. This new routine is now just our normal. We do what we can and that’s all we can do. Sending you hugs bc I know this can feel challenging, but I’m told it will be over before we know it.

Edit: Updated drug names bc I don’t know things lol

Hip Brace - Groin Support for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0741DBDJ2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

My bad fell asleep 1.5 seconds after posting

I have this one and it's awesome! I use it for my daily walk/run with my dogs and it really helps with the round ligament pain. I wear it with the back part against my skin, and I haven't had any problems with discomfort or irritation.

I'm going to second the straps/gait belt for this first part of her illness, especially since you are in the getting stronger phase. It is essentially a belt you put around her waist to give you better leverage/grip in helping her to get up out of a seat. If she still needs your support after that it provides some place for your hands to be for balance and grip should she start to falter. There are videos online to teach the best ways to use them and you can always as a PT if she is seeing one.

I think it will be an asset to you while she still has use of her legs to maintain her independence and keep some strain off of your back.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010E7MQZ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BKhXzb9Q3A2JC
They cut through the ab muscles that you use for pretty much every movement from sitting, to standing to walking, not to mention coughing or sneezing or picking up and holding a baby. It feels like your insides are going to fall out. The pressure that a binder puts on that area gives support for your muscles. I didn't have one for my first and with my second, I got one immediately and I could not believe the difference it made in my recovery.

I am not entirely positive what to get quite yet, but this one keeps showing up in my research and I am very strongly considering it: http://www.amazon.com/Postpartum-Girdle-Corset-Compression-Medical-Grade/dp/B004PKXSNM

I just had laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with mesh 5 days ago. Recovery has been very easy and very pain free. I waited 2 months before surgery and wore this everyday, all day, except when sleeping. I definitely say stop having sex but you don't have to stop masturbation. It caused me no issues while I waited for surgery, but if your doctor says otherwise definitely listen to them and not a random dude on the internet.

The binder that I got from the hospital was an elastic band that could wrap around my abdominals. It had velcro to hold it together as tight as you would like. It really helps decrease pain with coughing, laughing and sneezing. It also helped me standing up so that I did not feel like I was trying to use my abs. The one from the hosptal looked like this.

They spread a little bit. I can fit into some pants but not others. Mainly the ones that were super tight to begin with. My body is the same but different 🤷🏻‍♀️ I say it’s better because it’s accomplished something amazing.

One thing I’d really suggest to all new mamas is the Shrinkx belly wrap. I started wearing it the same day I gave birth. It made a huge difference in helping shrink my belly and my uterus.

i've never tried spanx, but i have this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HOXUQRM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

it's decent but kind of bulky

u/Joel_M · 1 pointr/FulfillmentByAmazon

The thing is I've found other products with the same type and browse node that display size variations differently (as buttons). This particular product is in node 5006368011. Here's an example of a product of the same category that displays variations how I want: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019D13SPK

Yes it’s okay to wear over your scar - my hospital provided me one right after surgery. It’s a big, wide elastic strap that goes around your waist.

That's like the one I had. It didn't seem like anything when I first had it, but it may surprise you how much better you function overall the first week or three on the days you wear it.

I purchased [this one] (https://smile.amazon.com/Gabrialla-Deluxe-Breathable-Maternity-Support/dp/B00P1QAQQQ/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1496152310&sr=8-2&keywords=gabrialla%2Bmaternity%2Bsupport%2Bbelt&th=1), which claims to be breathable (I, too, live in Texas). It hasn't come in yet. It's scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. I can let you know what I think of it after it gets here!

u/D1rtrunn3r · 1 pointr/artc

You might be dealing with some pelvic instability? (Common for runners) I use this trochanter belt some (I call it my old lady belt). Might be worth checking out since it is relatively cheap? I definitely can feel the difference in my hips when I've been able to spend some time in it.

More info on its use.

Hang in there PP.

u/Breezezilla_is_here · 1 pointr/golf

Yeah, that sounds like SI joint dysfunction. Obviously you should have it checked out (and not by a Chiropractor) , but if it is, it can be alleviated through core exercise focused on abductor and adductor work, and one of these.

u/hapa79 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I use a Gabrialla support belt; I bought it for running so it's lower profile than some. I'm still using it from my first pregnancy; this is a slightly newer version but really similar.

I’m almost 18 weeks and recently started physical therapy for a sacral subluxation. The therapist gave me a SI Lock Maternity belt- basically cradles under the bump and a second strap locks the hips into place. It’s helped a lot with pain and keeping everything where it should be.

I’ve had ongoing back injuries/issues for years, but the hips are new.

ETA: Apparently it’s SI-LOC

Oh, I also run with a support belt that is designed specifically for SI issues. I get a lot of pelvic pressure and love it much better that the regular one from your link, which I tried during my son's pregnancy. Just sth to keep in mind if you start to feel like the regular one is not "doing it" for you anymore. Here is a link. Sorry for format.
