I like Turkish peshtemal towels. One tip is to wash and dry them several times before you will actually use them, as they are not very absorbent out of the package and become softer and more absorbent over time.

u/CC_DKP · 18 pointsr/whatisthisthing

They are sometimes called "Soap savers", since they stop the bar from sitting in water and turning to mush.

While not the exact model, here is a similar one:
http://smile.amazon.com/InterDesign-Soap-Saver-Oval-Clear/dp/B000DZFA66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419277671&sr=8-1&keywords=soap+saver

u/cmagnuson · 16 pointsr/boostedboards

After riding 2,500 miles between my two boards, here are the accessories I bring with me on every ride:

GoPro Hero Session camera: On two occasions I have been assaulted by people in cars while commuting home. They threw an egg and some water at me. After the first incident, I purchased this camera and started riding with it facing behind me. When the second assault occurred, I was able to grab the license plate # from the video footage and got the culprits in trouble with the police.

Fingerless gloves: When you fall off your board, which you surely will if you ride any significant distance, the first part of your body to hit the pavement will probably be the palms of your hands as you catch yourself. Removing the skin from your hands feels terrible, even on small falls. Wearing these gloves provides an extra layer to rub off when you hit the pavement. Make sure you wear fingerless gloves though because full-fingered gloves make it extremely difficult to operate the remote control.

Flatland 3D bash guard and remote ring: These two accessories changed my boarding life completely. Definitely put a bash guard on the tail of your board to prevent the ground from chewing up the tail every time you bring your board vertical. Don't waste your time putting on a nose guard because they don't serve a purpose. The nose of my board never touches anything except my hands and having a guard there makes it more uncomfortable/difficult to handle the nose of the board. When it comes to the remote ring, I cannot recommend this accessory highly enough. Sure, putting a Nintendo Wii remote strap on your Boosted remote will keep it from dropping to the ground. On the other hand, the Flatland 3D remote ring keeps the remote snugly embedded in the palm of your hand even if you fully open your hand and spread all of your fingers. I've even completely fallen off my board and hit the ground without losing grip of my remote. The remote ring is a true game-changer.

A headlamp: A headlamp??? Yes, a headlamp. Why? Well, riding a skateboard at night is one of the most terrifying activities known to man. Any unexpected bumps, cracks, or rocks can send you flying. With a headlamp, you can wear it like a garter around your thigh. This gives the light a perfect vantage point to light up the pavement in front of you. I've used this light in particular to commute at night for a couple years and it works excellently. Light & Motion makes the best lights I've ever used. The build quality is unmatched and their customer service is top notch.

Clear biking glasses: Riding without something over my eyes is very difficult. Dust from the road and insects from the air frequently fly into my eyes unless I am wearing some form of protection. During the day, any pair of sunglasses work fine. However, at night a pair of shades is not a good idea. Instead, I purchased some biking glasses from Smith Optics. This model comes with several lenses: smoke, rose, and clear.

Small towels: If you ride your board any farther than a mile in a single ride, especially if you commute in a city, you will find the bottom of your board covered in dust, muck, and liquids at the end of your ride. Folding a small towel and sticking it in my back pocket has saved me from countless headaches. Instead of getting to my destination with a board dripping with garbage truck juice or covered in mud, I am able to quickly wipe down the bottom of my board so I don't get my hands and clothing dirty. In addition, if I spill anything else on myself while I'm out, I have a handy rag I can quickly utilize. These towels are so cheap that I don't feel bad throwing them away if I trash them.

LED waist belt: When riding at night, being visible is one of the keys to safety. While your garter headband works great to light the path in front of you, this LED waist band makes you much more visible to vehicles approaching you from behind.

A helmet: These protect your noggin. I haven't found a helmet I love yet, but this one does have the best chinstrap I've ever seen. It's magnetic, which means it's impossible to pinch the skin under your chin when putting on the helmet!

These are a flimsier plastic than some of the other organizers here. But they do serve their purpose. They have little handles which makes it easy to remove them from the lower shelves of my vanity. They are 12" long which makes them too long to fit the short way on my cart.
Overall would mostly likely repurchase

This is a nice heavy duty plastic. It is fairly tall which I like for my foundation bottles, primer bottles, and taller makeup items. It helps them not to tip or rattle around.
Would repurchase.

These are a heavy duty plastic. Some of my compacts are too wide or too tall to fit. For example my Hourglass powders have to go in corner first. And my Bare Minerals powders don't fit at all.
Would repurchase.

This is a basic palette organizer. Not super sturdy but it serves its purpose. My thickest palette is a PM mothership, thinnest would be a Viseart.
Both sit nicely.
Would repurchase.

This is a sturdy brush/pencil holder. I have face brushes, then pencils, then eye brushes. It doesn't seem like it would tip easily, however, it feels crowded. Like the pencils and brushes lean into the other compartments. I would look around for separate cups next time.

The lipstick holders I previously had. There are so many on the market and they seem to be all the same for the most part. I would probably consider getting a gloss one too which helps the taller tubes not to tip.

My favorite thing tho....the clear Mac bullet top. 10/10 for sure!

My husband and I each have two of these, four total mounted on one wall of our shower. We have zero bottles in there as a result, which not only makes it look tidy but saves us from having to scrub off the inevitable rings from the tub where the bottle would sit. 10/10 would recommend.

They make smaller plungers for sinks. Get your shit together, man.

This one also doubles as a dildo.

u/k701 · 11 pointsr/oculus

Today my second mounting clamp and rod came in. After trying several heights and angles, and testing with the desk demo I found that tracking was perfect from top to bottom except when facing the very edge of my bottom left room corner while my hands are in front of me. In which case my body completely covers my motion controllers and a third camera would still not be able to help since my room is too small /cluttered to cover that specific angle. The biggest thing that helped was NOT mounting the cameras as high as possible, as it is suggested by some users. The higher they are, the farther away they are, and being cameras and limited by resolution, being too far away (too high) results in jitter/unstable tracking. I ended up mounting them at about 7 feet high. I suggest a rod/clamp solution as it allows you to quickly test and make small adjustments, and using this setup allows you to move the cameras in every way possible (6 degrees of freedom). Here is the exact rod and clamp I'm using for those interested. Obviously any similar rod/clamp will work.

I use shower curtain rods that extend from floor to ceiling, and then a clip-on mount. They work great, don't look bad (I got white rods against my whitish walls) and you can mount the camera at any height/angle.

This is the palette divider

This is the one I use to separate brushes!

Both on amazon. The brush one has a back storage area where I put like blush palettes or whatever doesn’t fit in the other organizers.

The palette one is adjustable, so you can remove dividers to put more in one area.

I'm posting from mobile so sorry if there is any inconvenience but this is a good one. If you're planning on getting one make sure you check the reviews because some are poorly made and have wrong elements in the noble gas sections and incorrect spelling. But this curtain has no errors in accuracy :D

These thieving guests are really rare, so I wouldn't worry about it for your first guests.

What I've found is guests are even more likely to take the small items with them. It ends up being a lot of waste, too, because you'll have tons of partially used bottles.

The best solution I've found is to put things into dispensers. Someone might take a full shampoo bottle, but they aren't going to pull a dispenser off the wall. They wouldn't feel bad snagging salt & pepper in the cardboard store containers, but they won't take them if they're in shakers (mine have survived 5 years of hosting). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FGCW0K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Leave out a reasonable amount of TP and a roll of paper towels and lock up the rest. It'll be fine.

My boy was too terrified to go outside for a year and half. I put down cheap bath mats. They have a rubber backing so nothing leaks through and they are easily washed. I also bought a ton of cheap bar towels. I'd use them to blot and then I'd soak the area with Natures Miracle and use more of the bar towels to blot up. For my 45 pound dog it's about 10 bar towels each time. There is no good way to get around doing a load of laundry a day unless you want everything disposable. Which gets expensive quickly. For your bed I'd get a rubber sheet to put under your sheets or a couple good mattress covers to rotate. I'm not sure one mattress cover is enough to stop it from soaking through. Put the bath mats on your bed cover and don't let your dog sleep between the seats if you can. Maybe get an x-pen or two so you can keep him contained to an area that's easy to clean.

You might want to wash them before using so they are more absorbable. I found it much easier to use a bunch of smaller towels than a few big ones. I washed everything used to clean up after him separately. Towels and mats would be their own loads. FYI, my boy hated the belly band so that option didn't really work, but it's worth a shot. You'll have to bathe him more to cut down on the stink factor.

I love my Apex tanks but I know what you mean. I tend to just run hot water through it but i guess a soak in IPA might help with the left behind taste, just give it a good rinse afterwards. I have used the one above on other tanks with no problems.

One word of warning, I once tried to put a q-tip into it to clean, where the wick holes are on the tank (up from the bottom) there are two rubber seals that help make up the holes and one of the seals popped out and it was an absolute sod to get it back in, so don't do that.

The towel is a turkish towel like this one. wearing it as a scarf/blanket on the plane! I definitely won't need a towel for showers, but I'm doing a few water activities that said BYO towel. I have a decent amount of skincare but I'm really only bringing cleanser and moisturizer. Toners/treatments/oils staying at home! I decided to just bring the 1 cardigan and leave the other sweater.

That is what I was attempting to do with the shoes, maybe I'm just not succeeding! The 25 degree temperature swing is throwing me off.

Serious question, do you often find public toilets with bidets?? I don't think I've seen that.

Jewelry for feeling dressier is a great idea. That is probably something I would look to buy there, simple to carry home. Personally I actually like that idea better than buy clothes there, because while I'm fighting all my desires to take a lot of clothes, I try not to buy a lot of clothes.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Currently have my Vive setup in my apartment living room, which is adjacent to my bedroom with my PC. In the living room is my TV, two couches, and my Vive lighthouses.

On the two opposite corners I have these extendable spring loaded poles I purchased from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF5SY1E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_87Y2DbXVJ2P9P

I got these three -
[Acrylic with drawers] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KKXA58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), Acrylic lipstick storage (you can get this one a few bucks cheaper from another seller if you don't mind waiting for shipping), and this acrylic organizer

Here's a (maybe not too great) picture of them on my shelf! photo

If you have Amazon Prime you can get free 2 day shipping. I purchased all three for a total of $47.58 so a huge saving over buying just one original beauty box.

They're all sturdy thick (but not TOO thick) plastic. No fogginess or scratches on the surface or anything!

Advice: plan out your meals weekly to help save you money. You can buy snacks and off your list every now and again, but you'll find yourself only buying food you need for the week so you hardly ever throw away food you never got around to eating.

What you need: a plunger. Guys do shit to toilets that just... idk how they do it..

This post made me want to post my collection on /r/makeuporganization so I did let me know if you want a link to that.

I tried to be basic and cheap. Nothing was over $22 when I bought it. When I first started buying makeup senior year of high school I just used a Caboodle, by sophomore year of college I needed more room and I got a plastic set of drawers from Wal-Mart and expanded from there.

I have a set of plastic drawers I got from Wal-Mart for like maybe $10. I found some drawer organizers at Dollar General that were like $5 that look like this but they're white and not as expensive. Each of the three drawers has a different item like lip products, eye products, and then cheek products. There isn't a lot happening in the eye drawer other than random mini mascaras and colourpop SS shadows, and my brow pomade because most of it was WNW 8 pan palettes that I cluttered.

Then I have an acrylic organizer that I got at At Home that holds my everyday concealers, mascaras, eyeliners, and some lip products. It looks like the top of this. I coudn't find the exact one though.

Then I have another acrylic organizer that holds all of my palettes and it's my favorite makeup organization purchase I've made. You can find it here

Lastly I have a container with five sections that holds my foundations, brushes, and liquid lipsticks. It can be found here

Sorry, I have to put in my two cents. OP, I would only use the tin for the purpose of carrying the bar back and forth from your room. If you put it in the tin after you shower, it will start to get melty and goopy and really hard to use. It needs to dry out! You could prop it on its side in the tin, which would help to dry it out, or use a special soap dish like this soap saver which will allow it to dry completely every day! (Btw that Amazon price is absurd. You can find them for a buck at the drug/cosmetics store.)

You should get a tin! But I wouldn't keep it in there all the time.

In regards to cup holders, I found these cup holders that I was thinking about getting. I haven’t ordered them yet, but they seem like they would do the trick.

If you find yourself with some spare time today, do you think that you could go a little more in depth with the creation process? Specifically, what you used to get the cover to snap onto the folding table?

Not exactly mounts, but Shower Compression Poles work great (don't forget to get clips), and are portable or cheap enough to get two sets maybe. They are also more sturdy than a tripod, because they won't be effected by floor vibrations.

Curved shower rods stretch the curtain out more, give you more space to shower, more air flow, and let the curtain dry faster.

As cheesy as it sounds, I get my daughter to this little tiger growl type thing. She watches Peppa Pig and tried to imitate George doing his dinosaur growl, but before I caught on to the fact that she was imitating George, I just started calling her my little tiger. Either way, it makes me smile every time :)

These are awesome and would make me feel like a fancy-pants!

Sorry man, It was a gift. From Target IIRC.
Similar to this one, but much plainer. It's sort of just a board, with extendable chrome arms.

Curved shower curtain rod.

The one I bought was more than 15, but amazon turned up this.

They make shampoo/conditioner/bodywash dispensers that glue to the wall or corner.

Here’s the one I have that works well for me:

I have two of these: https://www.amazon.com/100-Pure-Flax-Linen-Towel/dp/B00WBC17N4/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1517804581&sr=1-6&keywords=Linen+bath+towel

I like how quickly they dry every morning after being used. They seem absorbent, with a nice roughness, and no weird smells. Shrinkage isn’t bad, and they end up big enough to do the job even after going through the dryer.

Edit: they have a nifty little loop on one edge so you can hang them from a hook.

You mean, like this: plunger ? How do you know what size to get?

u/littlebloofox · 1 pointr/onebag

With the [amazon linen towel] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WBC17N4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pJYADbN5B9HWV) that you have suggested in the past, how small do they pack when you're traveling? Do you roll them or just fold? Also would you still recommend them 2 years later?

u/ElScreecho · 1 pointr/CFBOffTopic

My fiancée got me this one. It's pretty nice.

EDIT: Also, you can buy this dumb thing and annoy your SO by shooting bottle caps at them.

So what is happening is that the hot water is causing steam to rise creating the slightest 'vacuum' in your shower. The further you point the shower head away from the curtain, the further the curtain comes into shower.

You can do two things. One, angle the shower head closer to the curtain, itll help push the curtain away and will somewhat level it out. Or buy a curved shower rod.

You can get an inexpensive one like this or the more expensive alternative that rotates to free up space when not in use.

You can also use a sink plunger. Before I start throwing money (chemicals) down the drain I try the plunger and then boiling water.

Along with the over the toilet cabinet, they make shower curtains that have pockets in them https://www.amazon.com/Maytex-Pockets-Shower-Curtain-inches/dp/B003ZHVDAG

There are also racks that go from ceiling to floor in the shower, held with a tension rod. https://www.amazon.com/Zenna-2130NN-Tension-Corner-Nickel/dp/B004EPXKKE/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1488124438&sr=1-2&keywords=shower+rack

Edited to add: Some IKEAs sell a shelf unit that fits under wall mounted sinks and there are narrow cabinets and wheeled units that can fit between the wall and sink. https://www.amazon.com/1208S-Organizer-Solutions-Bathroom-Apartments/dp/B01N5NT8RC/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1488124574&sr=1-1&keywords=bathroom+wheeled+storage

Ok, so for my whole life I wanted a cordless Dyson vacuum. They’re about $500 but amazing because you literally just charge it and it’s good to go for a couple of days of serious vacuuming. But once I got my Dyson, I realized that it can’t pick up a lot of dirt because it has such a small compartment. Also, it gets stuck on long carpet and doesn’t do well if you have pets.

But, around the same time I got my Dyson, my Mom got the Shark cordless vacuum which runs at about $80. She has rheumatoid arthritis, so vacuuming really hurts her hands. This vacuum was perfect for her and I wish I had gone with it instead of my Dyson. The rollers and dirt compartment are so much better than the Dyson, and it rolls easily on all types of carpet. My mother has three cats and never has to unblock the roller. So this is my definite recommendation.

Things you need on your wishlist: for good baths, for a healthy and satisfyingly sweet snack, and for the best game known to man. Trust me, that last game is one of the most creative games I have ever played.

I summon /u/denygfx because they are a dirty bird who needs to be punished!

The household chore I hate the most is doing laundry because it’s really like three chores in one (sorting, timing, and folding).

"While this baby is described as having a "10 inch" handle, I can attest to the fact that it feels like way more than that. It is certainly easy to clean when you're done cleaning out your pipes. Design-wise, the shape is extremely pleasurable to grip, while the clear color makes it easy to be sure you've removed all waste when cleaning it. Best of all, you can store it in plain sight, and it just looks like a plunger. 5/5"

also make sure you buy the TOILET plunger, not the sink plunger. Sinks rarely get backed up enough to need one but its not a bad thing to have. What you MUST have is a toilet plunger.

In my apartment we use clamp camera mounts (https://amazon.com/dp/B00PICAE4C/) with tension rods (https://amazon.com/dp/B00IF5SY1E/) run vertically (floor-to-ceiling) with the cables wrapped down around the pole. While the pole is more of a visible 'thing' than just a tiny wall or ceiling mount, it gives a natural place for the cables to run (versus just down the wall) which IMO makes it look much better than any of the other options (at least for us renters who can't run cables inside the walls).

Less ideal for tracking but more minimal, I've also seen people mount their two front cameras on the back of the top two corners of their big screen tv or wall mounted in this location along with a wall-mounted TV, and having the cables run down the back of the tv with the other tv cables.

Another option is to ceiling mount sensors above or just in-front of curtains for a window or sliding-glass-door and run the cables along the top and side of the window/door frame completely covered by the curtains.

---

Aesthetically in many cases it is pretty much the same whether you're running a usb cable down from an Oculus Sensor or a power cable down from a Vive lighthouse--either way you have to run a single black cable down the wall from mount height to floor height (the aesthetically challenging bit) and then cables along the baseboard (which is easier/not a big deal by comparison).

No problem!

Its a bulb only in name. In reality, its the rounded tip of the clear handle of a plunger, sanded to bounce light better. The light comes from two tiny coloured lights I put into a hole in the back of the base.

About a year ago I thought it would be cool to offer a luxury travel set to my guest for a more hotel/upscale feel. I include a set of lord and mayfair shampoo, lotion, conditioner and body and face soap. Its a plus to offer to your guest and makes your listing look more pro:

http://i.imgur.com/miRVSw0.png

I looked online for a hotel supplier, purchased 144 of each for $175. Therefore I'm spending $1.25 for each reservation/guest? I set out 2 sets when they are longer stays. Estimate I had 100 guest since then. In 2 weeks its going to be a year since I purchased these and I havent counted them but I probably have about half of them left or a little more left.

The simple fact is that 50% of guest dont even touch them because they have their own, they also don't take em home like souvenirs like hotel guest do me included. I guest they respect the fact that its your house, etc. Its a waste because I constantly throw away half empty bottles. and bars of soaps used once.

So definitively when I run out of these I think i'm going to go with the wall dispenser route of a high end product, something like:

http://www.amazon.com/Three-Chamber-Shower-Dispenser-White/dp/B000FGCW0K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425747136&sr=8-1&keywords=shower+dispenser

Unfortunately Canada gets kinda shafted on contractor poles (it would cost me $400 just for 2 it seems that's for the 4-pack on Amazon, and getting 2 would actually be $200)

I did spot these however, would they be able to hold up a lighthouse? I'm not 100% sure what my ceiling height is however it is a flat ceiling rather than an angled ceiling.

Here is the cupholder if you're interested in making this same upgrade. Almost breaks the bank at $8.79 but it's worth it!

would [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WBC17N4) be about the same thing? Amazon doesn't list the GSM. I like this style more than the other.

>It's kind of expensive, almost unreasonably so

We have this dispenser in our showers. Good product, not terribly pricey. Admittedly not as nice to look at, but I'd rather not pay a $50 premium for shower accessory aesthetics.

For less than the price of one stainless dispenser, I got three plastic models.

  • Does she already have Netflix? If so, get her a six-month or one-year subscription. If not, and the setup is feasible for her, get her Netflix!
  • On the same vein: Could she use an upgrade to her system? Maybe a blu-ray player with built-in video apps! I got mine at Costco for about $80.
  • Maybe something fun or silly, like these book socks or (if she's a drinker) this book on literary cocktails.
  • There's also this reader's bathtub caddy that, personally, I would love. It's beautiful, it holds your cup of tea or glass of wine, and keeps you from getting your book wet. Win.
