I just finished furnishing a house and bought several mattresses and bed frames. I got an INCREDIBLY COMFY king bed and frame for less than $400 on Amazon. Here's the mattress I got.

u/Etrion · 54 pointsr/personalfinance

Everyone else covered all the other stuff well except a bed. the fuck is wrong with ya'll?

a futon? a futon mattress? air mattress??? fuck that shit

A good nights sleep is as important as eating, you don't need to spend all your money on it either.

Bed, blanket, sheets, and pillows: ~$350

metal bed frame: http://amzn.com/B006MIUM20 or http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensations-Steel-Smart-Base-Bed-Frame-Black-Multiple-Sizes/15739163

mattress: http://amzn.com/B005A4OP8Y or http://www.walmart.com/ip/Slumber-1-8-Mattress-In-a-Box-Multiple-Sizes/14225185?

note: I've had this set for a year, great buy. fuck futons.

another note: if tying to decide between a twin, full, or queen size mattress. get a queen. even if you have a tiny room you'll have a big bed. never get a king (or cal king) size mattress unless you have a permanent home, those things are a hassle to move and/or get rid of.

'nother note2: buy the sheets the same size as the bed, but buy the blanket/comforter the next size up it'll make all the difference on an extra cold night or when someone else is in bed with you.

'nother note3: don't get a used bed. you only need to encounter bedbugs once for you to consider setting your entire apartment on fire. even if that doesn't deter you just imagine sleeping on a pile of someone else's shedded skin and dried sweat.

Ok I have moved about a dozen times in my life. Trust me I'm a pro at this. This will be long so I'm gonna divide into sections.

Furniture

  • Don't buy most furniture until after you move. Why pay to move it when you can just have it shipped to your door, probably for free, or if you buy it locally have it delivered?
  • Don't buy more than the bare necessities at first. It is tempting to make your whole house pretty, but money won't go as far as you think, and its easy to buy things in the beginning that don't work as well as you think or end up being wrong for the space. Better to have what you really need and take time to consider what you actually want to make your life better in that particular space. For me the necessities are:

  • Craigslist, Amazon, Ikea are your friends. Online, read reviews critically. If people are saying it fell apart, don't buy it.

    • I have to give a particular shout out to Ikea stuff, I have some furniture I bought 10 years ago from them still in my home

  • Shop Homegoods for discounted decorations, housewares, kitchen stuff, etc when you are ready aka after the move.
  • If you need bedding Target often has cute bedding on sale.

    Moving itself

  • Don't hire a moving company. Hire a U-haul, then through the U-haul website hiring people to load/unload the truck. You can have them load/unload only heavy stuff and take the rest yourself to save cash.

    • I did this on my last move and they moved all furniture from our 3 br house as well as most of our boxes for like $200. I think we spent less than $500 total on truck and movers (including gas).
    • I actually highly recommended this over moving furniture yourself in a borrowed pickup, or even yourself with a U-haul. The cost is well worth the convenience. Moving is hard.

  • Don't pay for boxes. Boxes are easy to find for free. Typically I take 2 or 3 evenings late at night (around 10 pm) and just drive around behind strip malls until I find enough. (They don't put gross stuff in the dumpster, if there is I skip that one). Sometimes it only takes 1 night. Don't bother with grocery stores or large department stores, they crush their boxes. Check out liquor stores and the dumpsters behind strip malls.

    • Places I have found boxes in plenty:
      • Behind a Barnes and Noble
      • Behind a party store
      • Behind an Ulta
      • Behind clothing stores in strip malls (these are usually pretty larger, great for bigger and lighter items)
      • Liquor stores (they get so many they are usually happy to tell you what day they get their deliveries if you call. These are smaller boxes great for heavier items like books)

  • Don't box clothes. Take plastic trash bags, cut a hold in the bottom, put clothes hangers through the hole, close the tie part, now your clothes are still hanging up but contained and ready to move. When you get to the new house, hang up in the bag, then just rip the bag off. Way easier than unpacking.
  • Don't buy bubble wrap, find a place that stocks free local papers (every city usually has these around) and use paper to wrap your dishes and breakables. Save junk mail and store flyers as well for this.
  • The one thing you should buy is moving plastic wrap, the kind on a 14" roll. Use it to secure blankets around wooden furniture to protect from scratches. Use it wrap any fabric furniture to protect from tears. Use it to group some awkward small boxes into one entity. I only discovered this the last time I moved and will never move without doing this again. This is the only time I have ever moved nothing got damaged, and there is also this very satisfied and "mission accomplished" feeling when your couch is wrapped and ready to go.
  • Label everything with not only the contents but the room it goes in. Even in a small apartment this helps a ton when you unload. When you go to unpack everything will already be in the correct room. I recommend these inexpensive, color coded labels to make it even faster/more convenient: https://www.amazon.com/Immuson-Removable-Packing-Different-Stickers/dp/B07DQDSX9H/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1539805227&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=moving+stickers&psc=1
  • Pack a box in each room of the things you will need your first night/week so you can easily find it in the unpacking chaos. So in your bathroom pack your shower stuff separate, in the bedroom your sheets, and in the kitchen keep your pots/pans and dishes clearly marked. This may not seem like a money tip but if you don't do this you will find yourself running to the store for paper plates or toothpaste you don't really need.

    Once you are in

Don't forget you are going to have to buy things you forgot about or that just come up those first few weeks. Somehow you will move in and realize you don't have a mop, or a kitchen trashcan, or about 50 other things that just happened to be your roommates, or where the hell is the dish detergent and oh fuck I forgot that I need toilet paper and I ran out two days ago.

I try to set aside about $100-$200 for these weird incidentals. If you are worried about running low buy stuff at the dollar store, you can get a better version next paycheck. Also if you are low on dishes this a great place to get some that are honestly perfectly fine. Big lots is also good for cheap dishes. Also not a bad idea to plan for the money to eat out a few days during the move when you normally wouldn't. For me its the one time I let myself have fast food.

Once you are moved in, be careful about your grocery bill if previously you were splitting groceries and not just buying your own. Buying for one is very different than buying for two, easier for things to go bad in your fridge.

    Utilities/Bills

There will be deposits and unexpected service fees. When you set up your accounts ask specifically what will be on the first bill other than normal recurring charges. Do not think the bills will somehow be half of what you used before. Use A/C or heat sparingly until you see a couple bills. Replace all your lightbulbs with LEDs. Shop around to make sure you buy the cheaper ones they work just as well and they will save you a fortune on electric.

Buy a programmable thermostat if your unit doesn't already have one. They are easy to install yourself, will save you a lot of money buy avoiding running the heat/air while you aren't home, and are only about $40 on Amazon.

You need internet, you do not need cable. You do not need the fancy internet plan the company wants to sell you. Start with the lowest tier internet plan and buy Hulu or Netflix or maybe both. If you have streaming issues upgrade the internet later. When you set up cable request that you not be on a contract (cancelation fees when you move and don't want it are a bitch).

u/rj_inthe412 · 31 pointsr/pittsburgh
  1. Depending on how much work you want to do you can still find homes for sale inside the city for that price. If you are looking to rent everything should be in your budget as well. Also when you say Pitt do you mean University of Pittsburgh or just Pittsburgh? Pitt is the school, PGH is the city, PIT is the airport. [its a quick way for people to clock you're new if you use those interchangeably]
There are a ton of other posts about the real estate market in town and its really a sellers market right now. We have a ton of new-build apartments that have gone up recently and are expensive for what Pittsburghers are used to paying for rent but are in-line with your budget.
  2. Amazon - seriously. Unless you want spring for some reason they have this 12in foam mattress for $190 which will be cheaper than anything you can get locally.
  3. This is a tough one because it can vary so much. I would research the type of car you want to buy, then look comparable ones up through Kelly Blue Book or AutoTrader and go from there
  4. Verizon FiOS is the best speeds per price if where you decide to live gets the service - and honestly if you were between a couple places and theyre close go with the one that gets FiOS. You can expect to pay around $100/mo for 100/100mpbs fiber. $60 will get you around 50/50mpbs. FiOS is the only provider that matches upload/download speeds.

Coming from someone who's had chronic back pain their whole adult life, and has used one of the higher end version of these - a good chair is important but not as important as a good mattress and pillow.

This is the high end "workpro" model: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/493966/WorkPro-Commercial-Mesh-Back-Executive-Chair/

This is the one i got, on sale for $140 this weekend:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/448590/WorkPro-Quantum-Mesh-Mid-Back-Task/

Both are loads better than those dxracer chairs.

And this chair is not very good, I've tried the nice one and still had back issues - tried one of the "workpro" models from office depot for 140$ and i can tell you its loads better.

Going back to the mattress though, if you suffer from lower back/shoulder/neck pain - get yourself a good memory foam/gel mattress, i got one last Friday and am almost completely pain free now, i never knew how much it mattered until i slept on my sister's "sleep innovations" 12" foam mattress after moving an entire apartment of stuff up 4 flights of stairs.… i woke up with no back pain the next morning, and instantly went and bought myself one.

This is the mattress you should get if you have back issues like i did, skip the chair for now and do yourself a favor: https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-Shiloh-12-inch-Mattress/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478128801&sr=8-3&keywords=sleep+innovations

Ooo, I'm so glad someone noticed that! I was worried about the same thing when I was making this since it doesn't really have much space to hide through the frame.

I got this thingy (and some velcro straps to wrap cables up):

I have these two brand new, and they are excellent:

u/tincansandtwine · 22 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I just bought my second one of these for a guest bed, and have been sleeping on the same one for 3 years now. Amazing bed, especially for the price. Has a 20 year warranty, just like Tempurpedic.

Edit: I always confuse bed and mattress; OP, are you looking for a bed frame or a mattress?

u/CaptainRetention · 20 pointsr/minimalism

I used one if these for a year. Really comfy, and because it rolls up it’s perfect for a small room.

u/mbarakaya_hu · 19 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I was thinking the same thing. I have this desk and it's cheap, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. It's harder to pick a chair without sitting on it.

u/DaedraLord · 18 pointsr/specializedtools

I bought a queen sized memory foam mattress for $350 on Amazon a few years ago. Been amazing so far. Has 10 year full warranty.

Edit: It's this one. Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch Memory Foam Mattress, Queen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JvzIAb7M0K5XV

Going through the hard times makes the good times that much more sweet :) Good for you!! I recommend a bed frame like this
. I also have a memory foam and it does not need the boxspring.

u/grclzbthkrr · 17 pointsr/Assistance

I’m not sure what your current financial situation is, but I wanted to share this anyway. Maybe you could quickly save up for it or make a mini GoFundMe.

My husband and I purchased this mattress when we moved to an apartment together. It’s super inexpensive but has been the best mattress either of us has slept on, ever. It’s a perfect combination of firm and soft. The prices also vary depending on what size/length you get

I believe it's the Raynor Ergohuman.

u/Coffinspired · 15 pointsr/buildapcsales

Your point is fair about everyone on Reddit saying you NEED an Aeron, which is ridiculous.

But if you're spending even 2 hours straight in a computer chair, I'd say you'd want to spend a little more than $30-$40. Finding a ~$125 chair with a little adjustability on sale for ~$75 will be money much better spent. For how long you usually own a computer chair, it's worth spending a little more, even if you have to save up a little longer.

I'm currently using a Multi Function Alera Elusion (highly recommended) that was a little under $150, it's miles ahead of past chairs I've owned that were already over $100. I find it more comfortable than chairs that were twice as expensive. You don't need to break the bank on a Herman Miller for a comfortable ergo chair. Though, in fairness, I know even $150 is more than some would want to spend.

If you're looking at a cheaper chair that has zero adjustment for a daily driver, that you're buying without testing first, I'd probably stay away from ergonomic ones and just get a "flatter/scooped/cushioned-backed", or even an executive style chair.

An ill-fitting ergo chair turns something that should be very comfy and supportive into a torture rack.

u/adognamedgoat · 14 pointsr/rva

I got my mattress off Amazon and it's one of those memory foam deals that comes all compressed. It is super firm, so if you're not into firm, you would hate it. It was under $200, though, so way worth it for me! I have not noticed any of the temperature issues other people have with memory foam.

Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch Green Tea Mattress, Queen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zLg4AbXMH0X9B

While you were out haggling with a mattress salesman I had a beer and bought the most comfortable mattress you can get for 400 bucks.

u/worksysadmin · 13 pointsr/sysadmin

The Herman Miller Aeron is the gold standard.

However, I have a Alera Elusion from Amazon. It's got all the adjustability of a much more expensive chair; adjustable Seat pan, adjustable back, the seat pan angle and back reset angle are individually adjustable etc.

https://www.amazon.com/Alera-ALEEL41ME10B-Elusion-High-Back-Multifunction/dp/B0049UCECE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1541602227&sr=8-2

It is no Aeron but if you are on a budget, this is the best I have found.

Speaking as someone who lives in a small SF studio apt...

In addition to your excellent recommendation on varied sizes of containers, I have this 100 clear ziplock bags set as well as a variety of larger bags in varying sizes. So if I've got something with little accessories, I'll toss those accessories in tiny ziplock bags, then put them in a larger ziplock bag shared with the main item when I store it on a shelf or a container. For example, I do this with my medicine cabinet / toiletries. I organize stuff into ziplock bags by function ("sinus / cold", painkillers, GI, etc) and then toss them in the closet in a small box, to avoid clutter in my cramped bathroom and keep only things I use routinely close at hand.

I've got a couple little tupperware boxes like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F03L98 which I put labels on and stack in my closet. Plus I've got an old shoebox or two for knicknacks.

In my small pantry, I've got these little DecoBros Expandable Stackable Kitchen Cabinet and Counter Shelf Organizer to maximize vertical space.

I put my seasonal clothing into space saver "packing cube" compression bags.

Some of my cleaning and organizing is motivated by dust mite allergies - but ultimately I'm working on a long-term solution to that. So I'm getting immunotherapy to become resistant to allergens and also use a dehumidifier to kill the dust mites.

I also keep an inventory of the items that I really liked. If I bought it retail, I'll find it online. That way, I can sell or junk something with the peace of mind that I can buy it again when I need it.

I do the typical things to minimize possessions: I have a few merino wool items that I wear most often, have a single bankers box for files with almost nothing it it (scan), no desktop computer, store very few physical books, and so on.

For my sleeping area, I use this cheap Zinus frame and store a bunch of stuff under it. That gives me extra storage and it's also cheap and easy to replace I do a long move. For my bed itself, I use a Sleep Number bed - it's easy to pack it into the back of a sedan, and you can customize the firmness to get to the "medium-firm" which clinical trials have demonstrated to be the best.

My desk/dining table is public white 42" high dining table which allows me to stand if I want; these 29.5" Bar Stool fit and store nicely.

On the digital front, I have a very hefty dotfiles repo, use https://github.com/GothenburgBitFactory/taskwarrior for tasks, and have finally transitioned pretty much all my finances to the double-entry beancount leveraging https://github.com/beancount/fava (after trying the earlier ledger/hledger tools).

Amazon has tons of chairs that are basically ripoffs of dxr racers and other fancy brands. I got one of these a few months ago and absolutely love it. I just took off the armrests because I don't like them in general. Super comfy, can play games for hours without getting sore or legs falling asleep.

I bought this mattress frame. Keeps the bed off the floor, no box spring required, and has storage underneath. Also really easy to set up.

u/RouletteZoku · 10 pointsr/buildapcsales

I have a different brand chair (but my guess is they're all made in the same factory). Not a bad price considering free shipping.

This is the specific chair I have.

Here's another example of a clearly similar chair.

It was easy to assemble, is relatively comfortable, tilts/swivels and has adjustable height.

I'm not sure if this specific model can lean back, if it can't then I would say pass, and grab one of the other two chairs I listed since the price is similar, and the definitely can lean back.

u/kenman345 · 8 pointsr/battlestations
u/6x9equals42 · 8 pointsr/buildapc

$100 won't get you very far and I'd probably just grab whatever feels nice at Office Depot. The Alera Elusion at $150 or the Ikea Markus at $200 have good reviews. Nicer chair are pretty buy it for life and will be more comfortable than cheap chairs, so I'd save $300-$400 and get a used Herman Miller or Steelcase. You'll probably spend more overall on cheap chairs that wear out than a nicer chair over its life span.

i love my memory foam mattress, very comfortable and resilient. it was also much cheaper than the average mattress. the 2 main downsides i have come across though are that they can be a little hot. so not great in summer and if you lay in one spot to long it can be hard to move. so if your say watching a movie in bed or reading a book it can be hard to adjust your position into something that is more comfortable for sleeping. i won't lay in my bed anymore unless i know for sure i am going to sleep. other than that though the mattress is fantastic, it's very easy to fall asleep you don't get lumps in the bed, and if you have a partner movement doesn't transfer much so you don't wake them up. oh thats one last complaint, sex is a bit harder since you sink into the bed more. i would definitely recommend getting one though if your looking for a mattress. i purchased a Zinus Memory Foam 12 Inch Green Tea Mattress, Queen for 200 bucks at the start of 2016. when it was on sale. it's 279 now.

If you're not willing to go over $200,I bought a Lorell High Executive Mesh chair for $150 6 years ago. It's really good for the price.

Back part is mesh so in the summer it keeps you cool. The memory foam seat has kept up as well and I've used it every single day for hours.

I have this desk that I purchased from Amazon. Free shipping, only took me about 20 minutes to assemble. I have two monitors with plenty of room for a third, and am actually using my keyboard/mouse up top instead of in the tray since my keyboard is pretty big. Overall, I really like it. 3 color options and tons of space. Wasn't sure if you could use an "L" desk, but still wanted to give this option.

Exactly. We've replaced all the old mattresses we had for our 4BR house with these and couldn't be happier with them.

Amazon.

I recently bought a queen size, memory foam mattress (2 inches of mem foam and 10 inches of reg. foam). I have amazon prime so it shipped for free in 2 days. The mattress took a day to expand out of the packaging and it had a chemical smell for a little while but I was super happy with the purchase, I didn't have to go anywhere and talk to anyone to do it, and the mattress is super comfortable. I spent $517 and it was worth it.

Edit: Our mattress is on the floor and I can't tell the difference between that and having it on some sort of platform or frame. This is the one we bought. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/ref=oss_product

We have a japanese futon. They're super inexpensive, comfortable, and they roll up to give you more floor space.

I've been sleeping on one for about 1 and a half years now and I never want to go back to a regular mattress, my back isnt in pain when i wake up anymore lol. We own like three of the queen size ones for different rooms.

u/partisan98 · 7 pointsr/malelivingspace

I got a version of this platform bed. I really like it.

Pros:
Cheap its only about $80 for a queen size
No boxspring needed.
Dont need tools to put it together.
14 inches high so you can fit stuff under it (i keep my laundry basket under it) and can crawl under it when you inevitably drop your phone down the back.
2 pieces and it folds so you can easily carry it up stairs (18lbs each). Folded up it can fit in the back of a sedan if you are moving.
Pretty solid i dont hear any squeaks or anything from it.

Cons:
High chance you will pinch your fingers while putting it together.
It looks like something you would find in a prison/barracks. I highly suggest a $10 bed skirt.
You can stub your toe on the center leg pretty easy. Throw some pipe insulation on it under the bed skirt to save your toes.

No. I specifically avoided the arms that clamp to the desk for this reason.

This is the stand I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Monitor-Standing-Supports-002-0020/dp/B006JG9RQ2/

The base itself is actually fairly heavy and wide, but presumably it spreads the weight across the desk. Right now I actually have the monitor stand spread over 2 glass surface desks. (https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8) Mostly because the desk are fairly short length-wise, and I prefer to have my keyboard and mouse on the desk, as oppose to the pull out tray. I did have the entire stand with the 3 monitors on one glass surface, for a brief duration, when I was moving furniture around, and there was no problems either.

Thanks! I'm an engineer, so my choices were also driven by practicality.

For example, that couch also rearranges into the exact size for a [queen sized mattress]( Signature Sleep Contour 8-Inch Mattress) to lay on top except for one missing corner, which is exactly the height of the coffee table. I can also fit a queen sized bed where the bar stools go. When my sister and her friend visited, they each got their own queen bed. One of those beds is stored in the closet.

u/sxooz · 6 pointsr/minimalism

I despise big bulky bed frames. When I was deciding if I was okay with floor sleeping I started sleeping on the floor to see if it was comfortable. I did this for a while and made my decision about getting rid of the bed. I found that I'm comfortable floor sleeping if there's carpet but not if it's hard flooring. You also want to take into account if you are comfortable having sex on the floor, possibly having company stay over, or relaxing on the floor as well. In the end I did keep my bed, and I went with a sturdy, but very practical bed frame. This frame doesn't require a box, and it folds for easy moving. I paired it with a foam hybrid mattress that's easy to move when i move. The frame is definitely not necessary if you live in a house, but I got it for my cargo van. I love that your entire wardrobe can slide under the bed in bins. Wirecutter recommendations from 2012: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-office-chair-is-the-steelcase-leap/

They like the Steelcase Leap the best. It's about $900 but you can sometimes find them on craigslist for $200-300.

They also say the Ikea Markus is great value at the price point of $200. It used to be $150 sometime last year, maybe it'll go on sale again. There are fabric version of the Markus that are a little cheaper.

Other people on reddit and various forums have stated their like for these from Amazon. Affordable and with some adjustments in the $150 range.

The Office Star Space Professional

The Lorrell Executive

The Herman Millers are outdated and overrated. The DX Racers are gimmicky and embarrassing. They are like the Beats of chairs. There is a reason racing seats are used in cars, the sides bolster you in place because of momentum during high speed turns. On a chair though, it's just pathetic.

Personally, I'm now leaning towards the Ikea Volmar. It seems to be a higher end chair to the Markus and you can find it on the site with headrest and armrest, only headrest, or without either.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S09896320/#/S69896317

This has been recommended before, and it was such a great idea I bookmarked it. If I could give proper credit I would, but Reddit's search function is the absolute most useless piece of garbage I've ever been subject to in 20 years of computing. u/cicicatastrophe · 5 pointsr/lifehacks

The Japanese don't even use beds, but instead a bed roll. You could create this for less with some blankets, towels, or even a foam mattress topper.

u/Lozerien · 5 pointsr/tall

I walked in to the office furniture store in my town, the 6'6" salesman spotted me, and sat me this chair. The seat height is 64 cm, which fit me perfectly. Since it's my personal property, I carry it from job to job.

This chair has an unusually high back and long seat. It's made in Taiwan, of all places; a quick check on Amazon UK does not show it available there.

Try and office furniture stores that cater to City (yes, I realize you're 400 miles away from there) firms, this is the only other place I've been to other than Amsterdam and Sarajevo where I didn't feel unusually tall.

But, not to despair; most office chairs have a standard 50mm diameter seatpost, you can replace the stock seatpost with a longer one.

u/boooooyouwhore · 5 pointsr/breakingmom

Yay! I love when things like this happen. It seems small but it's not, that's your space! Separate, adult space for you.

This sounds a lot like the first house my husband and I rented together. Not really a bungalow but it was built in 1903 and of course had tiny closets so all our clothes were in a weird tiny bedroom down the hall and our bedroom was basically a mattress on the floor (also couldn't fit the box spring upstairs).

An idea, we got this for the bed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MIUM20/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_KNK2AbFGPZ45G

My spouse and I own a three bedroom home. One room is the bedroom we share, then we each have our own rooms which serve as our respective offices and in my case, my temple room. I have a dedicated wiccan altar which I have had for many, many years. The room is painted with a stone-like texture with a faux occulus on the ceiling surrounded by the zodiacal symbols.

With my Golden Dawn work, I added a double cubical altar built out of two of these storage cubes. That altar moves from being in the east to being in the center, depending on my needs. I have made the Banners of the East and West which hang off a bookcase and a mirror, respectively.

I built some of the cheesiest pillars you have ever seen and I'm not sure how much longer they will last. I used four 22"x28" poster boards, two black, two white. They are rolled into tubes the long way, then one of each fitted over the top of its matching cylinder. The red tetrahedrons on top are cut and formed from some red plastic folders. They are lightweight and portable enough that I took them over to another temple space not long ago. My cohorts were amused as I set them up, but after they were fully assembled, the consensus was that they weren't half bad after all.

When I did the Portal ritual from the Cicero Self-Initiation book, I hung up several sheer curtains across the entire width of my temple. That stayed up for a few days and it was really amazing in here while it was up. So as not to damage my paint/mural work, though, the curtain was hung up by small plastic hangers attached to the walls and ceiling with large amounts of blue painter's tape. It was a temporary arrangement, but one which served the purpose quite well.

My room is a multipurpose space though there is no doubt that its primary purpose is "temple."

I hated. HATED. my sleep number mattress. I had an "expanded queen" which is the same as a queen size, but six inches wider, with two air bladders. the two air bladders were tiny, and provided no support for a man my size (6'5"). The mattress felt wonderful for a few months, until the outer shell broke down and the only support was the air bladder.

Two separate air bladders means no cuddling - any variation in firmness (which is inevitable) will result in an uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed. If you have sex in or near that ridge, you will stretch the shell, and create a gaping chasm of sorrow in the middle of the bed.

I suspect that a single bladder mattress would be acceptable, but for the price and durability (roughly 18-24 months) it is not worth it.

I currently rock one of these these, which costs 1/10th the price, and has already outlasted my sleep number in terms of comfort.

I am on month 12 with this mattress, I don't expect it to last much more than five years. At $100 a year for pillow like comfort, I am very, very happy.

u/RealNotFake · 4 pointsr/Fitness

Getting proper sleep is vital during your rest periods for you muscles to rebuild. Don't have loads of cash? Then buy one of these bad boys and be done with it. That's the mattress I sleep on and I can vouch for the ridiculously good value. Once you go memory foam you won't go back. These are basically the same exact thing as tempurpedic but super cheap.

u/nothingbutt · 4 pointsr/Frugal

You can also get them from Amazon in 12 inch and 10 inch heights. I have the 12 inch and highly recommend it -- it's $430 right now for the queen. The only issue is you really want a topper for summer if you are a warm sleeper as it really insulates you. It is great during the winter.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/

I put it on top of an inexpensive (and maybe not frugal as not very durable in terms of finish) Ikea Malm frame:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S39849855/

And what I think is the key part -- the best support slats they have:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60125969/#/20125971

Having Costco deliver does sound very nice though. I had to haul mine up three flights of stairs and it was a workout.

u/That70sShowDude · 4 pointsr/minimalism

I'll post the link below. I got my current bed in 2014 and I think it's a little too soft. Sometimes I had some mild back pains and I randomly found myself tossing and turning a lot. Then I tried various floor sleeping set ups but they were all too hard on my pressure points. This futon feels like the perfect medium. Day #2 I naturally slept in longer than I have in months. So far I've only rolled it up and hit it for maintenance but it has maintained 100% of the shape so far.

https://www.amazon.com/Futon-Furniture-Traditional-Japanese-Mattresses/dp/B003VQNM2I/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1473880232&sr=1-1&keywords=japanese+futon

u/Mr_804 · 4 pointsr/minimalism

Why even bother with furniture?

...but seriously, traditional japanese futons can save you space when you arent sleeping. Anything that folds up an away is pretty nice.

u/tummybox · 4 pointsr/InteriorDesign

I think this studio is kind of cute/cozy! If you can change the bed for a futon, that's a bed and couch in one.

Is there enough room to put the big table where the small table is in the pictures? You might be able to fit a couch where the big table is, and put the small table in front of that? Or get rid of the small table all together and get some shelving instead... with perhaps a love seat?

If you want to go Japanese style, you could get rid of the bed, and get a roll-up bed, that would give you more floor space.

Keeping your records stacked like that can lead to them warping over time.

Although they're both pretty much at your max budget, both of these options are really good chairs.

OP, have a look at this

Desk depth is 24 inches, 4 inches deeper than the Walker Edison desk. The keyboard tray is much wider, easily capable of acommodating a mouse and keyboard. The desk itself is also 10 inches longer and wider.

Also consider this desk from office depot. The keyboard tray is about 4 inches shorter than the zline desk so no mouse and keyboard unless you get a compact keyboard. Otherwise, this desk has the same dimensions as the z line. It goes on sale frequently for $170, which you can bring down further with coupons. I got mine $135 just last week. Haven't set it up yet though.

Third option is to hit Craigslist. Search for ikea galant. You'll get plenty of hits.

This desk is what I have. It's a bit of a process putting it together, but when it's done it looks super nice and is a very good size. They aren't. We just moved to a new house and bought this one from amazon for $450. So far it's been great, and is very comfortable.

u/truenoise · 3 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

I agree with downsizing the bed - it definitely dominates your long skinny room. We actually replaced a newish expensive posturpedic with this reasonably priced mattress and couldn't be happier. You don't need a boxspring.

You can also get wallpaper to mimic that feature wall:

If I were you, I'd splurge on lighting (task light for reading, mood lighting, etc) and getting a nice dock and speaker set up for your phone / music. Be sure to include artwork that is important to you, and bedding that you love.

u/long_poop_joke · 3 pointsr/BurningMan

We are using these Japanese style roll-out futon cushions this year. I have these at home for guests. Air mattresses on playa have always been leaky for me with the big temperature fluctuations. These are very comfortable--although not bouncy if that's something you're after. In future years if I decide to go fancier I will add memory foam mattress toppers but seriously, this thing with regular bedsheets and a couple fluffy blankets and pillows is like a cozy pillow pit. Totally low maintenance if you have the space in your truck (FYI, the twin size rolls up about the size of one of those big flannel sleeping bags from summer camp, maybe 2 times the size of a deflated air mattress).

If you're cheap, get a second sleeping bag from a thrift shop and stuff it with eggcrate foam. I slept on one of those for a few months and it was not bad.

u/knitrat · 3 pointsr/minimalism

Japanese/Korean ones tend to be thinner and more easily folded. North American ones are thick because people here are used to a thick mattress and so are pretty difficult to fold. Or as people have said, you can force a N Amer one into a fold but it leaves a crease.

u/WupTeDo · 3 pointsr/Buddhism

I moved to sleeping on a small Japanese futon here

I get that one reason for this is probably because high soft beds were an unnecessary luxary especially at that time in history. But additionally I am convinced that 99% of Western beds are too soft and damage the spine. Sleeping on a futon like this takes some getting used to but overall it leads to a lot less tossing and turning and a more efficient sleep because of it.

Great tips, I ended up buying this chair and I recommend it to anyone due to how adjustable it is:
Alera ALEEL41ME10B Elusion Series... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049UCECE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf $187 currently, I bought mine open box for less and it has no problems.

And this headrest bolts right on:
Lorell Hi-Back Chair Mesh... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P85C6OU?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf $12.75 currently

I’m 6’ 1” 170lbs and this chair has all of the adjustments anyone could want and is very comfortable and supportive. I used to exacerbate sciatic nerve pain in my leg and hip when I’d sit in my old cheap office chair, it doesn’t hurt in this chair.

See Camel3 for more price information and to track it if you need to wait for a deal, my open box purchase was just a damaged packaging, but they come in once in awhile: https://camelcamelcamel.com/Alera-ALEEL41ME10B-Elusion-High-Back-Multifunction/product/B0049UCECE?context=search

Does anyone have any recommendations for bed frames or box springs? I definitely need to get something, but in terms of appearance I'm not sure which would be better. In terms of keeping things (relatively) cheap and simple I'm thinking of getting this. [Edit: The twin size one of course]

u/Dark_Shroud · 3 pointsr/malelivingspace

Same here, I recommend them to people all the time.

Their Smart Base alone is worth it and save a good amount of money of the decades that they'll last. Just not having to purchase or deal with a box spring.

u/stubborn_introvert · 3 pointsr/femalelivingspace

So maybe the quality can vary or some people get duds, but we have this zinus frame and we have loved it. It’s been esp great since we are renters that move occasionally, often in older homes where the stairs can limit what goes up them. We’ve never had squeaking. Put a bed skirt on it and storage tubs for out of season clothes and extra bedding.

We were tight on funds then and still are. I imagine someday we will upgrade to something prettier, but maybe not until we have our permanent home. I’ve thought about finding a headboard I liked to add to it. For now it’s been pretty practical.

u/HighSorcerer · 3 pointsr/instant_regret

I bought this thing as a frame for my memory foam mattress, and it supports me(300lbs) and the mattress just fine, I totally recommend it as a frame for anyone who's looking. I can throw myself on it and it doesn't even budge.

u/PegasusCoffee · 3 pointsr/videos

Just wanna chime in here- Amazon sells wireframe boxspring/bedframe combos that significantly reduce the hiding spot for bedbugs.

Here's the link(sorry, on mobile): http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006MIUM20/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1451736403&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=boxspring&dpPl=1&dpID=51VMwhfluNL&ref=plSrch

I recommend these because when I used mattress covers for my boxspring, the abrasion between it and my bedframe caused rips and tears that rendered them useless. These puppies are a great (and cheap) alternative.

I have the 48"x31" bekant and love it. It's a sturdy, slim, and the beveled edges don't kill your arms if you rest on it. Super easy to put together, especially considering its from Ikea.

https://imgur.com/a/uJWnK

I've since upgraded to 3x27" monitors and love the setup. I have mine a little different, with the third almost 90 degrees to my left, but that's mostly just for music/soccer in the background.

I considered making my own L desk from Ikea with linnmon table tops (woulda been like $70 or something ridiculously cheap) but after being able to see/feel the tops, I was put off. They're rather thick with sharpish edges and I didn't feel it would be nice in the long run. More like a kitchen table than a desk if anything.

Well I bought [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) around 1 and a half years ago. I love it. It's not the most expensive mattress in the world but I really like it. My ex gf always raved about it. I have it on 2 box springs side by side on a metal frame.

You take it out of the package and give it time to expand and within 10 minutes you will be like 'wow' and within 3 hours you will be like 'how the hell did that come out of that box?'.

u/overstable · 3 pointsr/columbiamo

I used Amazon and bought a 12" thick memory foam mattress. I paid $289 for the Queen size 18 months ago. They vacuum compress it for shipping so it's not terribly unwieldy to carry into the house.

u/taylortaudio · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

So I bought this guy on Amazon just a few weeks ago:

New Gaming Chair High-back Computer Chair Ergonomic Design Racing Chair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNTLIM4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_AYDKzbJ2EX38K

And it's incredible. It has this built in foot rest that hides away, leans all the way back and all for $100 shipped.

But then my friend was selling some of his old furniture from his setup so he could upgrade, and the Dxracer as well as the longer desk everything's resting on he put up for sale. I already had the chair from Amazon, but the reason I didn't spring for a Dxracer was the price. I was able to get the desk and Dxracer for $200 even. It was the homie hook up for sure, but I'm glad I did. He keeps everything he owns in incredible condition, and the quality and fit and finish is far better than the Amazon knockoff. I just wish it had the pull out foot rest.

Now my gf has a chair to game in, and I get to sit in the dx racer!

u/Vasalgelnowplease · 3 pointsr/malelivingspace

Alright my man. Since you have such a low budget ($700) but don't want your apartment to look like crap, your best bet is going to be minimalism. You're in a great sub for minimalist inspiration. Take this recent post, for example. Not everyone was super impressed, but I'd say he did pretty good for a budget of $195. At the very least we can say with 100% certainty that it looks better than the average undergrad apartment.

I took the liberty of checking out the Halifax craigslist offerings and they are far and few between. However, I did find a potentially decent desk: see here. You might be able to haggle down the price a little with some luck. Otherwise, you might want to look at Amazon for desks (example 1 and example 2). For a desk chair, you could look at Amazon, but you might be better off going somewhere local (even if you go to Walmart) because you want to make sure a desk chair is going to be comfortable.

For a mattress, I'd again suggest Amazon. I'm just not sure you're going to find any better deals than what they have to offer. Mattress buying also involves a lot of personal preference, but "big box" mattress stores are incredibly overpriced. It seems that memory foam mattresses (such as this) are the most inexpensive, so I would look around Amazon to see what you think you'll like. I think I saw a mattress for as little as $99.^(though personally, I'm not sure I'd trust it...) Keep in mind that you will either need (a) a box spring and bed frame or (b) a platform bed in addition to the mattress. With your budget, a platform bed will probably be your best bet. You can even get one with a "headboard" for pretty cheap (the headboard will definitely up your apartment's style a little bit and keep it further away from "garbage apartment of undergrad" level): see here and here.

Alright, I'll break down what we've done so far. I'm in the US and don't know that much about Canadian dollars, so I'm doing this in USD - hopefully it's close:

  • $150 for desk
  • $50 for desk chair
  • $180 for mattress
  • $170 for bed frame

That leaves you around $150 for other items. I assume you have basic human needs covered (bed sheets-do not sleep on a bare mattress!- and towels), so you could use this money for more furniture or for decor. I would probably try get some attractive and functional bedding (please do not get anything polyester!) in a minimalist pattern. Ikea is really unbeatable for this - see here and here. For a couch, I would either consider Amazon or start scouring Craigslist every day. I would probably forego a coffee table until you have other things that will improve your quality of life (dining chair/table, television, etc.); you really don't need one.

Anyway, these are just a couple of suggestions. Hope this helps!

I'm a freelance web designer and gamer so I spend most of my time in my chair, this is what I use and have used the past 2 years with no issues. It's half the price and can lean very far back, scoot down in your chair and rest your head on the back for those of us who like to sit with terrible posture. It's not fancy but with my over 16 hours of sitting on average with an occasional break to get food and use the restroom, this chair does a great job. I highly recommend it. I've tried other chairs and most are either too firm or just plain uncomfortable. This is the best bang for your buck.

If you're dead-set on spending roughly $300 though these are the only chairs I think are really worth it. I've tested a few at Office Depot, I highly recommend you do the same so you're significant other can see what they really find comfortable. If I wanted to spend the money this is what I'd buy.

I really love this chair (SPACE AirGrid), especially for the price point off amazon. Great build quality, design, and back support. After 3 years of heavy usage my only complaint is that one of the arm rests has started to crack a bit. That said, if I could afford a Herman Miller or Global, I'd probably get that.

u/lukewarmandtoasty · 2 pointsr/SSBM

I tried out a LOT of chairs when I got into music production a decade ago. I've been using this since 2012 and never looked back. I'm 6'1" so I like a high back but there are normal back models too. I also took the armrests off to encourage better posture. There are a couple reviews talking about how the foam is too thin...they must be like 300 pounds or something because my brother's ~225 and he loves it too. Literally my only gripe is that after about 2 years of use it started getting a little rickety when I shift positions.

I also own this from the same company, and it's also great, but got even ricketier within a year and the fabric's not quite as nice. Surprisingly, the back cushion doesn't make nearly as much of a difference as I would've expected.

u/cheesynacho · 2 pointsr/pics

This chair almost perfectly matches the picture on the box, and has the same model number, now I can't see your link (silly staples making Canadian and US sites separate).

I honestly can't think of a reason to spend so little on a computer chair, unless you're a casual computer user and are sitting at it for at most 3-4 hours a day. Even then you should be ponying up the cash for something with adjustable back support if you don't want back issues.
I sit at my desk on average 8 hours a day and the cheap $200-$300 chairs from office depot etc last me at most 3 years but usually 2 before falling apart. I then spend another $200-$300 and at that point I pretty much could've bought the Rolls Royce of chairs. So if you sit for as long as I do or longer, just take the hit and buy a solid, expensive chair.

However I understand not everyone can afford that even if they try and budget for it. There are pretty nice chairs (from what I've read) in the $400 range that aren't junk gaming chairs. Here's a list I've found but keep in mind I have never owned any of these but have just heard good things about them.

Lorell Executive

Alera Elusion

ErgoChair

For the last one, the Ergo Chair. I've heard both great things about the chair but negative things about the company itself. The Chair/Company was kickstarted/crowdfunded and some reddit users complained of shady practices, but others got their chairs and loved it so take with that what you will. And as others have said, you can get the herman miller chairs, steelcase etc etc for the cheap and in good condition on craigslist and ebay etc. Companies sell them all the time.

I got one of these from Amazon for work. I liked it so I got one for my home and so did my brother. Then other people from my work tried the chair while I was on vacation and 3 or 4 of them ordered it as well. I haven't heard any complaints.

u/R3mix97 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Here ya go! I honestly don't really recommend it, I regret buying a glass desk. Dust, fingerprints, and some of the pieces didn't fit perfectly perpendicular. But maybe I'm just bad at building desks. I loved it at first though, so maybe it's your thing.

Edit: I also removed the keyboard tray when I got my big mousepad

u/bigpdawgster · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Does anyone know if a clamp monitor stand would work for a desk like this?

u/grimoiregirl · 2 pointsr/Cyberpunk

I know a guy who can get me a discount on a lot of electronics, I call him first, get hooked up with two smart bulbs $85, a projector $92, and speakers $140. I'm figuring also $50 for cables.

Other than the wall the projector is going to be on, which I'm leaving white, paint all the other walls with black chalkboard paint. I'm gonna figure this at about $40, 1 can of paint that covers 110 square feet is $10 on Walmart.com. Black walls is pretty retro futuristic dystopia, and now we can draw or write on them, which is good for making things. I'll also be on the lookout for a large flat piece of scrap metal to mount on the wall for magnetic haikus and "filing" printouts. Take apart old hard drives for free magnets.

I'm gonna grab this desk,
https://www.amazon.com/Z-Line-Belaire-Glass-L-Shaped-Computer/dp/B0019MAUTE/ and a cheap chinese $15 strip light kit on Amazon, and underlight the desk.

I'm going to use scrounged furniture for any other furniture in the room. I'll probably start applying the leftover blackboard paint to it, to give it all a uniform appearance, and run out halfway through, and then spend $10-$25 on another can or two of paint and some sandpaper.

I'll spend $90 on 3 smart plugs, then purchase a $20 electric kettle, a $30 electric rice cooker. Now I have the ability to not stop working to make instant noodles.

I'm also going to pick up $30 worth of 3M mounting tape, [this $243 couch off of Amazon](
https://www.amazon.com/Target-Marketing-Systems-66318BLK-Storage/dp/B000WZ9ZVS/) because I always wanted a fainting couch and a random incongruous piece of furniture seems very "low life" to me, and a $30 shower curtain with some weird print to cover any windows- this one I picked because it has kind of a vaporwave aesthetic, but I can confirm that it works because I have one with a trees in the forest print covering the sliding glass door in my bedroom. If this is a bedroom, substitute the fainting couch for a cheap memory foam mattress and some printed sheets that I'll probably buy at Target with cartoon characters on them.

Office Star Prado L-Shape Workstation Desk in Black

Used to own this desk a few months ago before I moved. Admittedly this one is a lot heavier than the old one, so, it's not going anywhere. That being said, I do enjoy the extra desk space it provides over the previous one.

u/getoffmypropartay · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

This is the desk that I currently have. I'm thinking of building some sort of floating bed frame, but other than that I am completely open to ideas. I'm also buying a comforter so color is also undecided... Thanks

u/tr1ppn · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Sooo many things. Power strips, extension cords, HDMI/AV cables are all "have some extra" because, well, you can never have too many, or know where you will need them.

Grill? You need a grill. End of story.

You said you were looking for an L-Shaped desk. I have this but black with clear glass. It's a bit small, but I really like it. With some mounts for screens to give more desk space (kb/mouse doesn't fit on the tray) it's nice. It cost me like $80, so it wasn't a huge deal. Good buy.

Also, ample trash cans, especially one in the bathroom with a lid for any lady friends you might have. An absolute must. Spare toothbrush isn't a bad idea either :P

u/entent · 2 pointsr/buildapc

This is the desk I got 2 years ago when I built my current rig. I have a 27" and a 29" monitor, and use Monitor stands to raise them up, as well as give me extra room sort of like a cubby under each monitor.

Personally though, I regret getting this desk. My old desk was a 6'x3' flat-top. (The desk was super old and couldn't be taken out of the room it was in without breaking it)

I play music, guitar mostly... L shaped or corner desks, and guitars don't work together.

Otherwise though, for only $100 this desk is a good buy. My keyboard tray is the only thing that's broken; and the keyboard tray is somewhat pointless anyway because it doesn't quite come out enough if you have a larger gaming keyboard. Had to get rid of my Blackwidow and replace it with a Corsair Vengeance K70 because the extra keys on the left-hand side of the keyboard made it too big for the tray.

u/lbdavid19 · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

I would reccomend an L-shaped desk. They're really great for that kind of stuff. IKEA has good desks. I have one that I bought at Office Max for about $100. I can also confidently reccomend this Walker Edison glass desk. It's good quality, and very strong. It doesn't have much storage though.

Forgive me for the terrible formatting but I'm writing this in notes for easy copy and paste. I'm moving soon and I'm like 90% sure this will be the layout of the apartment I stay in.

I have a rough idea how I want things but I'd like some feedback and a forum to bounce ideas off. Ok so as I stated above I want it to have a SUBTLE cyberpunk feel think along the lines of:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cyberpunk/comments/48p40k/apartment/?ref=search_posts&st=J3CV1TAX&sh=7aa1f669

Without all the clutter obviously. I want to have a simple futon where the couch is located and the tv exactly where it is in the render. to the left of the futon I want a corner desk such as:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FB5LE8/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3LMFRI393MQQT&colid=2Z9WWCIKD2PXQ

Also I should point out what got me interested in a sort of cyverpunkish is that I have a small purple neon sign that I acquired while I was living in Japan that I think would look pretty neat as some nighttime ambient lighting. I still don't know where I'd put it.

Ok so for the area where the bed is located (I plan on using the futon as my bed) I plan on putting my homelab server equipment. I'm a net admin by trade so it something I definitely plan to build. Anything else you guys could think of to help? Some nice dressers, nightstands, coffee tables and such that would fit the aesthetic I'm going for? Is my plan terrible and can you think of a better way to design the place? I'm not extremely anal about this whole thing I just wanna be comfy in my place especially since it'll be the first time I'm going to live alone.

Yeah, I did some research on the different densities. I was mainly trying to decide between this mattress with 4" of 4 lb density and [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-SureTemp-Mattress-Warranty/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=pd_sbs_hg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=10252NKCFKSG0ZTPDHYJ) listed on here last week with 2.5" of 3 lb density memory foam. I was concerned that the other one would not have enough memory foam to feel comfortable and that the 3 lb density might wear out more quickly.

One of the top reviews for this mattress was by a 200 lb woman and she seems to love it, so I'm hoping it will work out for me. I weigh about 215, by the way.

u/MoJo37C · 2 pointsr/Frugal

I own this one, and it's fantastic. It also has a 20(!) year warranty. No issues with heat...I wouldn't believe anyone who makes that claim. And I, too, am a hot sleeper, and the worst thing in the world to me is to not be able to sleep because I'm all sweaty. I have not had that problem with this mattress.

I think it's weird to buy a mattress before trying it, but her argument was 5 minutes of sitting on a mattress in the store vs hundreds of amazon reviews may give the amazon reviews an advantage over a quick judgement in a store. So maybe try online too?

$349.99 + free shipping with prime. Had mine since April 14, 2014

Downsides :
takes like 2 days to decompress once you get it - and i see you're in a time pinch.
You absolutely should buy a protector at the same time, and those are hard to get right ... some of my ... 'sleepovers' complain this protector is too hot - probably because it is waterproof - which might be a good add for op. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035E63WM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

upsides:
pretty much everything else, comfort, price, quality, durability. Spring mattresses are good when new new (1-2 yrs) especially for husky (250lbs) young men who like to ..... jump ... on the bed, this thing is just as good since the first day my evil bitch ex girlfriend unboxed it while I was still at school. The video on the unboxing looked pretty awesome..... but i will never know if it was actually that awesome.

I've been sleeping on this mat from Amazon since I moved into my new place 4 months ago and haven't bothered getting a 'real' bed. I'm actually planning on getting the same one in the full size! This one's just a single padded cushion that you can fold up. It's about 4 inches thick. I have it on a hardwood floor with a yoga mat underneath so it doesn't slide around.

I believe most people add additional pads to it, but I think it's perfectly comfortable on it's own. I like firm-ish mattresses, and it's a lot more comfortable than I had expected. Even when I first got it, I didn't have any trouble falling asleep on it. It took a few nights to get used to, but after that I've never had any back pain. I've read that using futon mattresses are much better for your back, too.

Regular mattresses feel almost too cushion-y for me now... I'm in love with my futon. I especially enjoy the fact that I can fold it up and take it anywhere without needing someone with a truck to move it for me.

u/zippityflip · 2 pointsr/StartMoving

I sleep on one of these. I got used to it within the first 3-4 days. During those first 3-4 days, I did feel things popping and relaxing within my neck and shoulders, but I don't think my baseline pain level now, after a year of sleeping on the mattress, is that different from what it was a year ago. I almost think that the popping you experience at first is just your body experimenting with where it wants to hold tension as you're sleeping. I say this with the caveat, though, that your mileage may vary. I've never had a huge problem with back pain, so maybe there just wasn't enough of a difference for me to notice.

I do agree with the article writer that it makes the bare floor more inviting and comfy, which can be handy when travelling or crashing at someone else's place. I have no issue sleeping on a carpeted floor at this point.

(In my case, the real advantage of the roll-up mattress is that I live in a 220 sq ft apartment; being able to roll up my bed and store it in the closet is aces.)

u/1337turtle · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife
u/shamansun · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I actually slept on this for over a year, last year, before getting married. It was great. Definitely takes some time to get used to though. After a few days your whole body starts to crave a traditional mattress, but it adapts.

I'm not sure if this is actually a traditional futon though. Anyway, it was great, and I could roll it up when I needed more space.

u/abcteryx · 2 pointsr/videos

You'd be happier with a "traditional", well-reviewed chair in the $100-$200 Alera Elusion (High-back). Try searching the make/model of chairs on Reddit to get some differing opinions. I did some research on office chairs when I got mine a couple years ago. Long story short: generally a $50 chair is going to suck, stay away from "race" chairs, and if you've got a grand to drop then go with something like Herman Miller. But Alera isn't bad, and is in a reasonable price range.

u/Legendhidde · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Please don't buy one of those "gamer" chairs, this is for every major purchase, do NOT buy into the gamer bullshit. Those chairs may look good and sturdy, but they're everything but the best. Save your money and buy a proper ergonomic desk chair.

I hate how everyone is advertising these things, only because they're gamery.

I also don't sweat in it when its 100 degrees during the summer. The only thing that might be missing is head support but that depends on how tall you are(for me, it works, the back actually goes up and down, for my 6'3" brother, it's not enough but still comfortable).

Feel free to bug. It's tough finding arms that can reach over other monitors. The three middle ones are held up with single monitor mounts. I'm able to get them over the bottom monitors because I have a desk with a second level that they are connected to similar to this.
The TV on top is on a vertical mount which is sitting on a box and held down with weights. Kind of ghetto but I never look behind there anyway.

u/femalenerdish · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

I think you could rotate the bed. Put the head of the bed at the window and push it to one of the walls. Either 1. push it to the left wall and put the desk between the end of the bed and the dresser along the wall, or 2. push it to the right wall and put the desk at the foot of the bed, like this.

If you can, I would also get a taller bed frame so you can store more underneath it. I just got this one. The quality is great and there is SO MUCH storage underneath. There's also cheaper, but still well reviewed options, like this one.

u/scooberty · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

Get a metal frame that sits up high. Put stuff you own under it, in a closet (clothes in a hanging dresser) or on an end table. Throw out everything else.

If you don't want a small room to feel cluttered you have to have less shit :D

Hey that's my chair too! I also bought it November 2015, exactly 2 years ago, when I decided to go for the Stormtrooper look.

I can testify that it is both comfortable and sleek-looking.

Here's the Amazon link, going for about $150 right now with free shipping

I'm looking for a computer desk, most likely a corner desk like this

I want to spend under $200, but I want something stable that can fit 2 27" monitors (currently have 1) and my desktop (NZXT Phantom 530). I don't want the desktop on the ground (because dust is mostly ground level) and I DO NOT WANT TEMPERED GLASS as I have seen way too many disaster photos on here. I would build my own, but I'd rather it look nice.

Any recommendations?

u/NewReligion · 2 pointsr/Workspaces

Honestly I am using Lifetime tables. As long as you are not putting anything super heavy on them they are fine. If you have nothing but a computer to put on your desk, then having a real 'desk' would be better.

This one looks pretty cool for your price range.

Got this desk: http://www.amazon.com/Ameriwood-Office-L-Shaped-Shelves-9354303PCOM/dp/B009YPRRZ8 near fall super cheap and Very sturdy! Also alot more room than the one in OP. No quality issues yet, you do have to build it though.

u/FlippehFishes · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Im currently using This Desk And it works fine, except for 1 issue. I can only fit 2 of my 24" monitors on it currently. I could put on a 3rd but the way the desk is built you kinda have to sit farther to the left/right of the desk depending which way you face so 1 monitor is alittle to far away for it to be a comfortable fit. I hope I explained it well haha its in a kinda of awkward position.

Cheap mattress here. Free shipping. You can just throw it on the floor.

u/mag443 · 2 pointsr/Shopping

Okay so this probably sounds too good to be true but I decided to try a "mattress-in-a-box" thing too and my budget was a tad lower (by like 600 haha I'm a student) BUT I Think I've found the hidden-gem of mattress brands: Zinus. I got mine from amazon, and if you have prime shipping is free.

This is the one I have:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012H0JTMA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

Would give it 7/10 on the 0-10 Firmness scale (which is my personal preference), maybe 5/10 on that memory-foam sinking in feeling, and its held up super well, and only ~$250.

Total satisfaction out of 10 - I'd give it 9/10

Here are some nicer ones:

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Gel-Infused-Memory-Hybrid-Mattress/dp/B072JV5JZ6/ref=sr_1_8?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1540541827&sr=1-8&keywords=zinus+mattress

I have something similar to this which is good enough for me -
https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Green-Mattress-Queen/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=sr_1_1?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1497875642&sr=1-1&keywords=zinus&th=1
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M16A1M8/ref=psdc_3248801011_t2_B01AB689F0

If you want a firmer mattress you can go with this one -
https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Gel-Infused-Green-Memory-Mattress/dp/B01NH0QVM4/ref=sr_1_5?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1497875642&sr=1-5&keywords=zinus&th=1

There of course are also other base options you choose if you need a headboard or what not. I also would recommend a full cover as it has worked great a keeping my mattress spotless, something like this - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B1ZRLLY?ref=emc_b_5_i

u/btfftb · 2 pointsr/minimalism

ikea has clean & simple beds. Easy to put together.

Amazon has affordable mattresses. i recommend this one.

Funny, i actually bought this mattress because i stayed at an Airbnb that had the mattress on the floor and it was my best night sleep in months, if not a year. Got the model & ordered in the next morning.

u/Typhoidnick · 2 pointsr/weightroom

We got the Zinus off Amazon : https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Green-Mattress-Queen/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=foam+mattress&qid=1556737035&s=gateway&sr=8-3

It was like $180 for a queen on Black Friday in 2017. At full price it's certainly cheaper than the name brand mattresses. We've only had it for 18 months so I can't say how well it holds up long term but so far it's super comfy. My wife and I both sleep on our backs/stomachs/sides and they all work. It took a while for it to stop smelling chemically but it eventually did

u/Thonyfst · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Yeah, that's what I've been leaning towards, or this cheap Zinus one. It feels wrong to spend less on a bed than I've spent on a jacket though.

EDIT: Accidentally included a referral link in there.

u/Pnk-Kitten · 2 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

If there is pee in the foam part, I don't think you are going to get that clean. That being said, this is similar to what spouse and I use. The one we got (I'll ask for the exact one later) has lasted us 5 years thus far, and we are not dainty people. They come rolled up in a box and have to expand for a day or so. Alternatively, you can use a blow up mattress. A lot of people do that now.

Did your landlord finally do the walkthrough and you are clear for any damages in "your" room?

Check out some of the competition as the mattress industry is incredibly corrupt and there are huge margins some smaller companies are cutting.

u/rednightmare · 2 pointsr/VictoriaBC

You can buy mattresses at thrift/second-hand stores. You can also get decent foam mattresses relatively inexpensively, especially online. Here is a queen size on amazon.ca for $400 with free shipping. and a thinner one for $300.

They also show up on Used Victoria frequently.

u/The_Drizzle_Returns · 2 pointsr/madisonwi

In particular, if you watch slickdeals for about a month the 12 inch Queen Sized Zinus Mattress goes on sale quite frequently for $210. Its a great mattress and worth the money (shipped free, prime is 3 day while non-prime is about a week).

u/sweetpea122 · 2 pointsr/internetparents

The bed I bought is now 189. Its seriously a good bed. We have a platform bed so just the 12 inch or the biggest one is great

u/Lawlessninja · 2 pointsr/personalfinance

I've been sleeping on a Zinus Memory Foam 12" Mattress for over a year now and it's quite comfortable. Truth be told before this I was sleeping on a very very expensive tempurpedic and I have trouble telling the difference between them.

Investing in a good nights sleep is crucial, sleeping well is very pivotal to keeping a healthy mind and mental state.

u/gusty_state · 2 pointsr/funny

I bought my memory foam mattress and bedframe for ~$400 total. I like it just as much, if not more than the $3k at half-price brand name memory foam mattress that I got with my ex from a store.

Mattress: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI

Frame (high enough for full storage totes underneath): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M1D27YO

u/pandaeconomics · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

Same brand, we just bought this mattress and it's great. I'm not sure what the difference really is but it's so squishy and wonderful! Hopefully it stays that way in the long-run. :)

u/RallyMech · 2 pointsr/guns

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI which is ~$280.
I also bought this frame: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NHWGGWE ~$200.
I would recommend both.

You could absolutely slap it on top of a home made frame. The biggest thing is to have enough support underneath to prevent sagging.

What I'm going to offer might not be ideal to others but with this budget, and avoiding threadripper. I would suggest you buy the best
Gaming PC - Use this for gaming, streaming, and to edit your videos

Replace 2 fans from corsair with ML120 both fans

I would suggest you wait until i7 8700K comes out and only use one build for the time being but if you can't wait here is my suggestion. With this budget you should have 2 builds for streaming, one for solely gaming and the other will handle the other workload. Also make sure to be very aware of how you will deal with storage and how much you potential think you will need for the future.

I don't have experience with that chair in particular, but if you're looking to save some money I would recommend this chair: https://www.amazon.com/Homall-Computer-Executive-Ergonomic-Adjustable/dp/B01MRZ02TL/
I bought it last October and it's served me very well. The only issue I had was resolved by the customer service, which has replaced the hydraulic lift for me when it started dying last month (that's happened on every chair I order online).
I personally don't like arm rests, so if you depend on arm rests and being able to adjust them, that would be the main down side of this chair compared to the one you linked. I'm 6'2" and 240 pounds and this chair holds me very well

hope that helps!

I feel your pain. I have a comfortable normal office chair. It's above average for sure, but it does lack some of the support really needed. I want to upgrade to something with more neck/head support. I've been looking at this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRZ02TL/ref=psdc_668180011_t3_B0031LKYMY

Now I will say, you've got half a foot and 50 lbs on me. I can't speak to the sizing except that generally when I'm in these type of chairs, the top of the chair is above my head. In my experience with racing seats (real ones for cars), taller/wider folk get by just fine by purchasing a "Wide" variation of a seat. It's mostly in the shoulder that create the most discomfort, so accounting for the helps the most.

u/-TriHill- · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Yep, here you go.

I’m not very picky when it comes to my chair. I just wanted a bucket with a high back that also looked good. It’s cheap and had good reviews, so I got it. I haven’t had it for long, but I’m very happy with it this far.

I don't live near an IKEA, but I also don't own a glass case. There are other options, but getting close to a detolf price range is difficult (not impossible).

If you can, try searching your local craigslist listings to see people getting rid of their glass cabinets. If not, Amazon sells this which is pretty close to a detolf.

u/Travistech · 1 pointr/AnimeFigures

If you don't want to swallow the balls-expensive shipping and don't live near an IKEA, Amazon will ship this one to you for free. I mean yeah, it's 120 bucks, but that's still less than shipping a Detolf. Me, I'm waiting for that Memphis location to open up, grab me a few over there.

Yay, your first contest! Soon as I can get some money, I am so ready to hold my first one :)

I need this Lazy Susan-type deal to make a spinning cube with this (just so you know why I'd like the first thing) from my college wishlist :)

I have a bunch of these from Amazon. Mostly I have these blank ones, but I have the drawers and door ones to hold accessories like sleeves and brushes.

u/seamans90 · 1 pointr/vinyl

I use 4 of these: Foremost 327606 Modular Open Cube Storage System, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000O1FROO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OsfszbZ9C6P3M

Fairly cheap quality and some assembly required but they've served me well and are easy to stack. I have no complaints for the price.

u/S3RIOUS74 · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

The curing chamber is an open cube used for making shelves that I coated with a roll of vinyl mirror sticker in the inside. I cut a hole in the top and inserted a LED curing lamp. Since the box is made of hollow boards, the top hole is larger and the inside hole is a step for the lamp to rest on. I made a door out of scrap plywood and painted it black and attached it to the box with a piano hinge. Then I lined the edge of the inside of the door with weather stripping and added a magnetic clasp and printed a knob on my form 2. Add in a solar turntable to rotate the parts and you are good to go!

The finishing kit is nice because it contains the mess of cleaning the parts in IPA after you take them off of the build tray.

u/burritosandblunts · 1 pointr/vinyl

Well I say wood, but it's more of that crappy particle board stuff. They work really great though.

u/DXRacer ; Hello, what would your recommendation be for someone 5'6" ~220lbs. I would be in the chair 4-8hrs each night and would be looking to get the additional foot rest as well.

I have a standard sized desk with my computer and a TV mounted 7' from the floor, so I would be using the leanback/tilt often while using my consoles or casting TV.

I feel constrained in my current 'office chair' http://www.amazon.com/Lorell-Executive-High-Back-Chair-Fabric/dp/B000Q5XTE8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage that I got in 2012.

Non-adjustable armrests -> no (though at least they seem to be removable). And it seems waaaay overpriced.

This is a good guide on computer chairs. This seems to be a decent option for your budget.

Lorell Executive High-Back Chair

u/rebelx · 1 pointr/buildapc

Can someone please comment on the following chairs?

I currently use the Staples Torrent, but after spending the past two months in it for more than 12 hours/day studying, I realized that I can't do that anymore. It needs to go. My shoulders and back hunch forward and my thighs start to hurt after a bit as well. It was great in the beginning--granted I never sat this long for such an extended period of time--but now it's just aggravating.

I don't want leather/"leather" anymore. I need ventilation. Mesh only. I wish someone had told me this sooner.

I'm looking at this from Amazon (Lorell LLR86200 or its newer variant (actually, based on the reviews it might be a different model style entirely) the LLR86205. The first chair in particular has a significantly number of positive reviews.

From Office Depot, we have the Realspace Pro Quantum 9000 Series that was recommended previously by a redditor. Lots of reviews on the site, but also much more expensive as it's $279 from them.

From Staples, the Staples branded Hyken which has favorable reviews and the Acadia, but some people have commented about it not being great for sitting too long.

Lastly, I just discovered Madison Seating from a redditor comment, but I have never heard of it nor know why their prices are significantly lower than the competition. For example, the Herman Miller Mirra at $499 or the Leap Steelcase v2 at $575.

I just want something that will not cause me pain anymore.

For the most part, my budget from Amazon is $250 (max). If it's something that costs a little bit more, that'd be OK--it'll eventually go on sale and I can pick it up at the lower price.

Everywhere else (Staples/OD/etc) it's a budget of $150-200 if at all possible.

If it's for one of the higher end chairs (e.g., from Madison Seating), I'd really have to think about it and see if the jump from any of the listed chairs makes a difference.

EDIT: Online review of Madison Seating show that they take used chairs, refurb them, and then sell as new. I'll skip that retailer.

u/MarzMan · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have a Lorell which is pretty good except for the hydraulic piston which I replaced with a larger one. The mesh is very durable and fairly comfortable.

Just looking, amazon has some cheap mesh chairs and they look to be highly rated. Seat padding looks sub-par but the flip up arms is an awesome feature.

These types are the gold standard gaming chair but they are made for a specific body type and I don't fit that mold even remotely, I'm far too tall and wide for them so I've never even wanted to try them out. This is most likely a knockoff brand. DXRacer is the one brand I've looked at, they've been around a few years.

u/djyoshmo · 1 pointr/OfficeChairs

Secretlab's Titan series is supposed to be better than even many of the ergonomic mesh options out there. At $400 (USD I presume?) you can get a LOT of chair, and you can even start looking into the Herman Miller options.

I just picked up this chair from amazon, and even at the 120 I spent on black friday it's a great buy. Upgrading from a terribad years old leather chair to this baby was a revelation. And if you want a headrest, you can always buy one for it aftermarket for like 20 bucks.

Looking at the chairs you posted, I would honestly not bother spending so much money on something that's not necessarily name brand. You can get something of similar quality for 200 USD less (the chair I mentioned is very highly rated everywhere I've looked)--if you're trying to spend your full budget, I'd seriously look into Herman Miller and see if you can find any good deals/sales. Patience is going to be key when it comes to buying a decent chair--the prices can fluctuate anywhere from 30 to hundreds of dollars on a whim.

Good luck!

I ride a Herman Miller Aeron at work, and nothing else really compares. But fuck me if I'm gonna spend $500+ on chairs for the house ... Upgraded from that white $60 ikea chair. It's way better than the ikea one and has served me well. Im sure there are way nicer chairs though. I would recommend staples for trying some styles first but this is a good chair for someone who wants a not cheap chair but doesnt want to spend over $200 on a chair they have never tried out. This is just meant as starting advice for someone looking to upgrade a cheap chair. Look for a chair with some adjustment options.

This right here. I own it personally, before this I had a cheap Walmart chair that would destroy my back and bum after a few hours of sitting in it. But this chair... this chair is amazing it's got a really good angle on the recline, the seat is real comfortable and doesn't hurt the ass bone, after a 5-6 hour gaming session no back pain or terrible uncomfort when you get up, and all around totally worth the $150 for it.

very good, reasonably priced chair.mesh back helps with back getting hot, seat is quite comfy, i think mine is slowly loosing its cushion-ness, but still very supportive (had it for over a year). seat also has a lot of adjustment (seat tilt, back tilt, height). only complaints i guess would be there is not any arm rest adjustment and nothing really in the way of lumbar support. but again, for the money, this chair should make anyone happy.

Im not exactly sure how BIFL this is but I actually just bought the Lorell LLR 86200 a few days ago because it was the same brand as the chairs in my office that have lasted a while and gave me a great deal. Keyboard trays can keep the keyboard out of the way... but thats a preference I developed from using a computer desk from 1995 (which is what this one replaced)

I bought a cheap lamp at ikea that clamps to it and used adhesive cable guides to route the wire along the frame.

Personally if I could do it all over again I would have saved for a none L shaped regular or standing desk like Uplift. They are more durable, easier to clean, easier to move, and provides more long term space where you can actually sit at it and see everything using a keyboard without turning your chair to look at your other monitors. I have to move my chair or my neck to look at my third monitor so dont love it. But for the price I am extremely happy and will save for a really nice desk when I move into my house early next year.

I got this sexy motherfucker on amazon over a year ago after reading and watching for a few months. Comes in black and clear, and has two leg design (ones all straight and the other is curvy). The keyboard tray didn't fit in very well and is uncomfortable, I just use it for extra storage. This also comes as a single writing desk which is identical to the linked desk with out the side or corner piece. You can also by multiple pieces and link then together. The price bounces between 120 and 150 (I believe it went up when they had low stock)

A good(but still cheap) L-shaped desk. It's not perfect, but everything's at roughly the same height(some of them have multiple levels), and you'll have plenty of desk space for monitors of both types, controllers/interfaces, and notes. You'll also want other furniture like a comfy desk chair because you'll be in your studio a lot.

I'm currently working with two thrift-store desks, but this desk is looking promising for when I get a few hundred extra dollars to buy more studio stuff(I'm kind of broke right now).

As far as electronics go, an upgrade to your (computer)keyboard and mouse is a good idea so you can make certain assign certain things in your DAW to more convenient places like a thumb button on your mouse.

u/Mikerk · 1 pointr/buildapc

I did some looking around at old posts for good desks a few days ago and quite a few people seemed to agree on http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1BY3EKDM3H4LZ&coliid=I10DCJF4V70NHF&psc=1

Some other decent ideas were people using solid flat sided doors as a desk top and make a frame out of 2x4s or filing cabinets and just set it on top. The doorknob hole is perfect for running wires.

The actual desk has my main monitor in front, another monitor in the bend, and a large empty space on the side. I'll end up putting my VR stuff there, including my hotas. u/MorRochben · 1 pointr/cynicalbritofficial

I don't think at all that a 600$ chair is that expensive for a chair. Just think about how many hours you'll be using that thing. If you work from home it's completely worth it.

If we where to only use it one year and only when on working time with a regular 40hour work week you'd get: 52 * 40 = 14600 hours. 624$(the chair TB recomended) / 14600 is just a 4.2 cents per hour of use for good support and personal health while in that same time making a bit more money than you spend.

Ikea Hemnes bed frame with 12" Sleep Innovations memory foam mattress, a couple memory foam pillows and a couple standard fluffy pillows. Simple solid colored comforter. High thread-count sheets. Oh, and king sized, so myself and another can both go full starfish comfortably in the night.

All told I spent somewhere around 1200-1500 USD, and everything has lasted me (very comfortably) for four years. Simple, classy enough without being overpriced, insanely comfy, rave reviews from all ladies who have graced it.

I really love the Tempur-pedic knockoff I got on Amazon. Plus, a 20-year warranty and eligible for Prime Shipping. I coupled this with an Instant Foundation and put it in a new king-size frame that I bought at a discount furniture store.

I'm quite happy with my purchase. The mattres and foundation, combined, were $775 (for a King set) when I bought it. I had the money available, but opened up an Amazon Credit Card at the time for an extra 10% off (or maybe it was $50? It was two years ago, tough to remember) and also bought Prime at the same time.

I had one of these for a while, and I like it a lot. My floor is bare concrete, though, so I have to layer it up with a few thicker blankets. Would probably also work to get two if you were in the same situation. It's a firmer, more rigid mattress. I like the rigidity of it. You don't sink into it at all, so you end up laying very flat. That was a big improvmeent over my last mattress, which was wearing out and getting a dip in the middle. I wouldn't mind it being softer, but that often comes at the expense of losing the rigidity, so there's a trade off, and I'm pretty content with it where it is. I also love to take it camping. It's not good enough on its own for concrete, but no dirt and maybe some grass? Perfect. I love it.

They do take a little bit of care, though. You have to pick it up at least a couple times a week to let the under side and the floor under it air out to prevent mold. Folding it up helps stretch and fluff the fibers back out to keep it comfrotable. Some recommend taking it out and beating it occasionally to fluff it and get dead skin cells out, but I haven't done that. You do definitely want to fold it up at least regularly. After a few days, it gets noticeably harder.

However, now that it's thoroughly tested and approved, I'm planning to upgrade to a similar one. http://www.tatamiroom.com/cgi-local/catalog.pl?category=PLATFORM_BEDS-40#30 Here's a place I can get a fairly cheap king size one that's also thicker than the one from Amazon. I'm planning to upgrade the size and build a bed frame for it. Something with slats to let it get some airflow underneath it and help stave off mold. I'd really like to design something multipurpose, especially for if the mattress is folded and stored, but I haven't been able to come up with anything I like yet, so I might go for a simple platform with storage underneath.

u/wupdup · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Craigslist is your friend for couches. I got a $3k (new) leather couch in good condition for $200 that way. That was one of many choices at the time, for no more than $400. It's long and comfortable to sleep on and I could probably sell it for $200 when I move. Add another ~$100 for a nice Japanese futon and you've got beds for 2 guests.

u/tehzephyrsong · 1 pointr/Frugal

My boyfriend and I are moving into our first apartment soon, and we had this exact dilemma. First of all, never buy a used mattress. It is never worth it. You spend a third of your life sleeping, why would you want to spend that time marinating in someone else's dead skin, sweat, oils, and possibly sexual fluids? It is the nature of how mattresses are made, whether spring or foam, that they are more or less impossible to truly clean. So, new mattress. Buy the rest of the bed used if you want--frame, box spring, headboard, whatever the hell you want. But the mattress is something you want to spend money on.

The solution my bf and I found was a Japanese-style futon. We ordered the queen-size, which is twice the width of the one I just linked. Cheaper than any mattress of any size (our original plan was to get two twin-XL mattresses and stick them together to make a king), and you don't need the accoutrements like a frame or box spring. All you need is a (clean) floor, and you can even roll the bed up and put it away during the day to give yourself more room to do other things.

u/Countenance · 1 pointr/minimalism

I slept on one of these for a few months and loved it. I slept with it on a carpeted floor, and I made a point of rolling it up every morning and airing it out every weekend and had no problems with moisture or mold.

I've also just tossed that shikibuton on top of camping cots and found it totally comfortable. That would give you plenty of air under it.

Unfortunately, my husband is pretty insistent on a larger bed and insisted on a regular mattress as well.

u/arbivark · 1 pointr/TinyHouses

u/ERASERHEAD666 · 1 pointr/personalfinance

Beans, rice, and veggies will keep you healthy for very cheap. I suggest frozen veggies for convenience.

You don't need a bed, I've slept on one of these japanese futons for about a year and a half and I love it, feels way better for my back than a normal bed. If it feels too thin, you can put a yoga mat under it for like $10-15.

If you have a traditional phone plan (t-mobile, att&t, verizon) it's probably a good idea to look into changing that (depends when your 2 year lease is up). Look into MVNO's. I pay $20/mo on Ultra Mobile with a $50 smartphone I found on SlickDeals.

Check on Craigslist for furniture and shit. There are often lots of desks for free that you just need to move. You can find someone with a van to move stuff on CL for cheap as well.

I'm glad I was broke because now that I'm earning like $50,000 a year, I can spend a lot of that feeding poor people and shit instead of buying shit that doesn't make me happy and contributes to the destruction of the planet.

u/Yarnie2015 · 1 pointr/Mattress

I recommend checking out the Japanese shikibutons. I had one for about a year and it worked out great for my small bedroom. There are models that can fold up into a couch when coupled with a special frame. There are ones you have to roll up every day to keep it from flattening too much.

I used a fake bamboo picnic mat to keep the bottom of the buton clean. It ran me about $80 US but well worth the money. I recommend, if say you buy a twin size, to buy the next size up for the fitted sheet. It will help keep the sheet from undoing itself.

I hope this helps! https://www.amazon.com/Futon-Furniture-Traditional-Japanese-Mattresses/dp/B003VQNM2I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505107924&sr=8-2&keywords=shikibuton

I've had back problems before and initially bought it for that reason, but now I have a hard time falling asleep on a traditional western bed. I'm a stomach and side sleeper. I think if you were a back sleeper the transition would be a lot easier. But I also learned that sleeping with another pillow for back support depending on your sleeping style was important too.

http://www.lumobodytech.com/2013/06/improve-your-posture-while-you-sleep/

I've had no problems with my back since switching and can honestly say I'll never go back. (no pun intended) IMO, pay the shipping and invest in the shikibuton. It's the best purchase decision I've made in a long time.

I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VQNM2I/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as my in-house sleeping surface and it's wonderful. Dunno if they make double bed sizes, but for a single person it's great.

u/Catnip323 · 1 pointr/BurningMan

I'm single, but let me tell you about my Heaven Bed. You might not find a more comfy option. I bought a shikifuton from Amazon and repurposed a 3" full size memory foam pad. The shikifuton is only wide enough for one person, so you would need to get 2 (it saves space over air mattresses). The luxurious part is taking the cheaper 3" memory foam, using a box cutter to slice it in half, double stack it... now you have a perfectly fitted 6" of memory foam.

It's more comfortable than my bed and is worth the price. The foam can be squished down to very little.

I'm also in the market for a new chair. I'm sick of the fake leather (PU Leather, Bonded Leather, etc) chairs that ive unfortuantely been using for far too long and my back is forever thankful for it. I've looked at chairs ranging from $100 up to $900 and while I do enjoy the borrowed SteelCase Leap that im currently sitting in, I could never justify the price for this thing. Dont get me wrong, its built like an tank and will likely last decades instead of years, But its just not for me.

If you want a chair like the SteelCase Leap, they can be found for very reasonable prices used for as low as $275 here: https://designerseating.com/collections/work/products/steelcase-leap-v1-office-chair-black-fabric

Little to no wear and I expect it to last a while longer.

Only $200 but it's pretty darn robust not to mention comfortable.

One more note: avoid office supply stores like the plague, especially the chairs. While this seems counter-intuitive, the durability/performance of the chairs compared to price is half what you can get elsewhere, and generally everything is overpriced.

Hi! Ergo nerd chiming in because it doesn't seem like a lot the people in this thread know what they're talking about. I've researched chairs extensively and the plain, but not so simple answer is - it depends. The two most important however are your height, and budget.

There's no one chair fit all, so really the best thing you can do for yourself is get a chair with as many adjustments as possible so you can sort of mold it around your body. A lot of chairs don't come like this out of the box, and usually the one's that do will break your wallet without any remorse.

Anyway, I'm 5'6", and poor, so I currently use this chair.

This is by far the best chair at the low end you can get, and I sit in it comfortably for 8-10 hours a day.

Also this nerd on youtube seems to know what he's talking about and has a few videos that give you the quick know how on what you should be looking for.

This article is really good for reference too!

Do yourself a favor and get decent lumbar support. Your body will thank you.

And as a side note. The chair I recommended is 1000x better than the Markus in every way possible.

u/Neverlife · 1 pointr/buildapc

I was in the market for a chair about 6 months ago and it seemed to me like the options were;

  1. Find something on craigslist

  2. Buy something from a random Office Depot or Target or whatever

  3. Pay $300+ for a nice chair

  4. Buy this chair on Amazon (Edit: It was $150 when I bought it.. I swear)

I went with #4. It's not a phenomenal chair, but it's pretty good. I've been using it for 6 months with little issue, it's comfy, it stays cool, it has a bunch of settings so you can tweak it to fit how you sit. I give it a solid 7/10.
u/SirBuckeye · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I recommend the Alera Elusion chair for $166.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049UCECE

It has tons of adjustments including seat tilt and depth. It's very comfy and seems to hold up well.

u/frogmum · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This Alera Elusion $190.99 is pretty awesome. I've been using it for a couple months now. I like that it's a fabric seat so my skinny ass doesn't slide off. The padding is very thick and I doubt it will wear out anytime soon. I bought some memory foam elbow rests because I didn't really like the hard rubber style that came with it. I also got some black fleece fabric to put on the back rest to make it a little more cushiony.

I have this desk which I find to be acceptable. It's large enough to fit my Maschine Studio + Sub 37 on the desktop and keep a mouse/keyboard on the tray below. The elevated shelf is great for a large computer screen and wide enough to fit rack units on either side of the monitor. I used to have my monitors on the shelf but upgraded to larger monitors that I ended up putting on stands.

As I said, the desk is acceptable. The glass top is a pain to clean and there have been times where the metal parts vibrated due to my music (this may have only been when the monitors were on the shelf, I can't remember the last time it happened). It's also on wheels which isn't that much of a problem but it does jiggle a little from time to time. I'm looking forward to getting a new wood desk someday, maybe a Zaor but for now this desk is acceptable enough that I would rather buy more gear.

Fits my computer, full sized electric piano which I use as a MIDI keyboard, a pretty bulky mixer and even my small monitors. Has a sliding keyboard and mouse holder too! Not everybody wants a wood frame. I use a metal platform under a standard mattress. It's lightweight and holds up to 700 pounds, and moves quickly and easily, it folds for shipping and arrived in one box weighing about 35 to 40 pounds. I got mine for under $100. I got rid of my box springs, and later will replace the mattress with memory foam mattress. What I like about this platform is there is 12" legs and this is more than enough storage area under the bed. I put it together with a screwdriver.

My newest ideas to build my own bed frame by creating a vinyl coated aircraft cable mesh. I can't find anyone else online who has tried it, so it makes me more excited to do it. If it works I'll have to post pictures to Pinterest.

My goal is a lightweight trundle bed frame on casters.

u/bc2zb · 1 pointr/DIY

My friends and I once hacked a queen box spring up, but never quite got around to splitting it properly. It worked for the few months we lived in the apartment and we picked up a new box spring when we moved out. My fiance and I recently ran into a similar issue and found these. Not a DIY solution, but a lot less of a headache and not exorbitantly expensive. In my experience, splitting a box spring is not worth it, but I am kind of bad at these things.

u/dgamr · 1 pointr/Mattress

You absolutely do not need the Casper foundation specifically for the Casper mattress, the foundations are all pretty similar. These look marked up a lot, even compared to traditional retail.

I don't recommend the Zinus mattresses, but their foundations / frames / storage frames are pretty good & inexpensive, and I've heard good nothing but things about them:

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-SmartBase-Foundation-Replacement-Noise-Free/dp/B006MIUM20/

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Platform-Mattress-Foundation-Headboard/dp/B01B8GQAOO/

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Standing-Mattress-Foundation-Platform/dp/B07D7J77VL/

Check Casper's latest terms to see what restrictions (if any) they have on the mattress return policy (visible damage and not using a foundation typically invalidates the warranty / return policy of a few bed in a box offerings). They might specify slats or something like that.

The foundation you choose will affect the feel of the mattress to some extent, but not a lot. The main thing you can do with the foundation to make the whole experience a bit firmer (if you end up wanting that) is to build or buy a bunkie board (which is basically just a sheet of plywood between the mattress and the foundation).

And if it's not obvious, huge gaps in the slats are going to cause some wear and tear on the mattress. For example, a 4"-6" gap is fine (12" is not).

u/heeen · 1 pointr/minimalism
u/thedeathof_pablo · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

For the frame issue, you can look into this Zinus Queen frame. I have the same one - it ends up being two individual "half-queen" platforms held together with screws. Each one would definitely hold on its own, so it might solve your problem. No idea about the sheets issue though. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MIUM20/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/bryakmolevo · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I own this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MIUM20/ - no tools to disassemble, one person can carry it down stairs, the grid has some spring, and WD40 eliminates creaking. idk if they make your size.

Cool: depends on the style. If your room is minimalist, people will pay attention to the frame because they're bored... but, usually, people won't notice the frame unless everything else also failed. The bottom of your mattress is not a natural focal point.

The longer part of the L where I wanted to put my monitors and keyboard was far to narrow to the point where my M&KB was practically right on top of my monitors. The other side that OP is using has a good width but the length isn't far enough. I can't push myself in without my leg and chair hitting the shelf. On the lower end I've personally heard good reviews from people about the Zinus Green Tea Mattress and the Casper Sleep Essentials mattress, which both can be shipped for <$500. Zinus in particular has Amazon Prime shipping to minimize time spent sleeping on the floor.

For a little bit more I've also heard that the Purple mattresses are super comfy, despite their really stupid, pandering advertising campaigns.

Ya, on one hand I can see that, but people are unlikely to specifically seek out some Chinese made cheap $4 widget to order directly from an unknown manufacturer who might consider selling directly to consumers, but I'd imagine larger purchases like a mattress from reputable, recognized companies, people would not be as hesitant. Seems like it's bound to go that direction as more people are buying things like this for these type of prices relative to storebought mattresses: https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-Green-Mattress-Queen/dp/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=zg_bs_3732981_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WPH1AKGRVPDVEQ7R1V7Z

How many people are going to be going to mattress firm to spend 3-5x the price when awareness catches up? The big mattress makers are surely going to have to adjust over time as they lose sales to people buying direct and I'd imagine a lot of these mattress stores will too.

u/phylogenik · 1 pointr/rational

How do more expensive mattresses like this compare to e.g. sub-$200 mattresses that you'd get from companies like Zinus (even sub-$100, depending on the sale)? All my mattresses have been in that price range and last me many years no problem, and we put them through a lot of use (as a bigger, married guy). They seem as comfy if not often much comfier than e.g. mattresses you find in fancy hotels or airbnbs, but I've never consistently slept on $500+ mattresses like the ones you linked (but Casper in particular annoys me, since for a time it seemingly advertised on a bunch of podcasts I listen to).

(of course, there are mattresses that cost several thousands of dollars which may or may not be substantially different from those mentioned)

For 8ish days I'd also just consider getting a blowup, much easier to get rid of/donate afterwards, or keep for occasional guests. Though as a software dev maybe those temporary costs and inconveniences become pretty trivial.

Last December after finally being sick of the Sleep Number C2 queen I've had for a number of years, I extensively researched online and bought a Zinus 12" Green Tea Mattress, Queen (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI). At first, I had no complaints and it. However, within 6 months I definitely noticed that it's not kept it's firmness in the center middle and quickly sags in when I lay down for awhile.

I'm the exact opposite of what you'd call a heavy set person (Male 36, 5'11' and 74.8 kilograms) and am using the base of the old C2. If I move to the sides I can feel the firmness/support of what it originally was. I've even tried readded the 3" thick-4 pound foam topper I had bought for the Sleep Number (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004AR5X92) to see if that would fix it, but it only pronounces it more.

I've been just dealing with it for the past few months but it's only getting worse I have to believe this isn't normal. I want to start a warranty claim with Zinus but I just cringe at having to go through all of this.

I'm just wondering, was I just unlucky and get a bad pick of a mattress? Had anyone else experienced this? Any and all comments & suggestions would be appreciated!

Cool, I think I'll go with one of those then. Quick question, do you know anything about [these] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Q7EPSHI/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1486707143&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=memory+foam+mattress&dpPl=1&dpID=51aRdkcr8yL&ref=plSrch)? I'm assuming they're a hit and a miss because most of the reviews are good but then there's quite a few 1 stars mixed in the bunch.

My wife and I bought this mattress and this bedframe in January and we love it. You can be in a nice bed for a few hundred bucks.
You can't afford anything fancy that you think you need, and a bed is not an emergency.

My husband and I bought this mattress on Amazon for $229 over a year ago. We absolutely love it. We just ordered a 2nd one for the guest room.

If you like memory foam, then this is your best bet: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

This is a little bit steeper, but I think it looks great and is still cheap compared to a lot of bed frames: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W4DCTK0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

I didn't actually commit to a brand. I just buy a ~$350 queen sized ~10 inch thick one and it lasts until I don't like the color and get a new one.

I just checked my amazon history, and the last two I bought were Zinus, and Lucid, though I am sure those are no name brands.

I got a queen-sized memory foam mattress from Amazon and I love it. It's a bit lonely since it's just me, but I figure it'll be perfect whenever I get around to finding a girlfriend. I'm hoping that I won't have to get another mattress for a long while.

They are premium products and are advertised as such

To be honest, the dx racers are amazing, aesthetically but very expensive for my taste. I cannot fathom spending over 150 for a chair

They are very comfortable but some features I found Unecessary or pointles,I mean who is gonna wanna turn their chair into a table!?

what's the name of the chair you got? i paid $150 for this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61TwFIBFdxL._SL1000_.jpg aside from having one of the lower prices, it seems to be well reviewed. it goes all the way 180* down to a laying position, and it has an extendable foot rest. the foot rest seems to be the big deal here, as more expensive models often don't have one at all, and others are known for being easily breakable. since you'd be taking the pressure off your hamstrings, it would prevent DVT right?

also, this chair has a metal frame and has a capacity of 300lbs, while other similar chairs come in at 275 or 250. there are 440lbs chairs for $180 as well. the cheapest is $100, and has bad reviews but would probably work perfectly for a smaller person: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNTLIM4/?th=1

u/CaptainFeather · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Seems to be where they screw in. I've tightened them a couple times and it helped, but they were never 100% sturdy like I'd like them to be. I don't put a very much weight on them, I use the seat itself to resituate myself. It's not really a dealbreaker for me though, they still do their job. Overall I'm happy with the chair.

For the price it's actually pretty fair it is a little squeaky and the pillow wasn't like the perfect shape it had a corner messed up, but sitting in it for roughly 30hrs so far has been great! Feel like I got a good value

u/SirBlueHerbz · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I love it!!! The only turn off for me is that you have tj tighten the arms ever 3ish months or they'll fall of or break, but if you just do it when they get wobbly you'll be fine. The other problem I had was that it came in different parts and you had to assemble it and mine did not come with instructions and thanks to the super generic name, I couldn't find any online and I just winged it and I build it fine. It's pretty self explanatory to assemble but takes a little thinking. Other that the tightening of the arms every once in a while and the missing instructions, it's a great chair. The material is quality fake leather and it's pretty cushy, idk if it's as good as a drxracer but it's very nice for the price and I really like the extendable footrest and the ability to put the chair way back, lay back on it and put your feet out on the rest. I would totally recommend it for the price of 99.00 USD + shipping (not amazon prime)

u/AWildRedditorApeared · 1 pointr/vinyl

Hi guys, hoping you could help me with a basic setup. My dad passed recently and left me about 200 vinyl records, mostly from the 70's and 80's. I'd like to listen to them, but I do not have any sort of set up.

I looked at the suggested threads / wiki, and it looks like I'll need a turntable, amp, and speakers. There's a lot more I can get, but for now I'm just happy with a barebones setup so I can listen to some old jams.

I live in USA-MI, and my budget is $200-500. A few caveats:

  • I live in an apartment complex. I do not need it to be too loud / window shaking.
  • I have limited space - tall, 3' speakers are out of the question.
  • I have this desk.
  • My goal was to put the turntable atop the desk, then find a shelf to put under it if I need an amp / other equipment / storage for records.

    Anyways, here's what I found:

  • Crossley C100A-SI, decent turntable for the price.
  • Edifier R1280T Speakers, seem small enough to politely sit on the desk.

    Questions:

  • Is this all I need? Will the speakers plug directly into the turntable? Will the turntable come with a needle?
  • How much of a difference are the ~$100 turntables vs the 200 / 300? Will I actually notice it, or is it mostly just marketing?
  • Are there better recommendations for my budget? If so, what would you recommend and why?

Homall Gaming Chair

u/Sharky-PI · 1 pointr/OfficeChairs

For a gaming chair your best bet would apparently be the SecretLab Titan, however you could take a chance with this cheaper version. My concern with the cheaper one is the armrests don't adjust and filtering amazon reviews by "arm rests" suggests they're crappy and fail.

Edit: though if you look more and more the consensus seems to be you should buy the equivalent of a $500 office chair which will ostensibly look after your back for 15 years +. Loads of reviews & articles about this e.g.

Get a chair with loblar support and good reviews.

I bought the gaming chair Hommal that is one of those race car style chairs with lombar support and neck pillow. Resembles IKEA brand.

It was around 115 bucks.

I have used it for a whole year every day for several hours and I can tell you now that it os by far the best chair ive used for desks / computers etc. And ive been using office chairs in the 100-200 dollar range.

Get something like mine or get a premium one. They seem to be trending but the utillity of them is great. Never has my back felt so good!

I currently have this chair and I love it. I’ve only had it for about 5 months, so I can’t comment on how well it holds up long term, but so far I’ve had no problems. I find it very comfortable, especially on my lower back.

I’ve heard good things about Herman Miller chairs as well, but they seem pricey.

u/Shanix · 0 pointsr/buildapc

I can recommend this chair for about 180 dollars (including tax). It can hold a good 400lb easy without creaking or showing signs of distress, the back is very breathable, and the cushion retains its shape very, very well.

I sit in this thing for maybe 8 hours a day, most every day. It's very comfortable, has good back support, and is an all-around good chair.

It's also cheap. Ish.

The glass desk just got dusty way too easily and was a bit too cramped for my 2 x 27" monitors to enjoy. Not to mention I had to rest a towel or similar on it if I wished to enjoy a hot beverage or breakfast. Too much hassle.

I just got a queen Zinus "Green Tea" memory foam bed. Currently $289 shipped on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q7EPSHI/

It is pretty firm. I actually ordered a 3" gel topper because of the firmness (you sleep on top rather than sinking into it), but that proved to be too squishy (the topper leaves an imprint of your body when you roll). I have a 2" topper on another bed & imo that is the right level of squish vs. firmness: (the bed is firm to the point where my side wasn't sinking in & was kind of being compressed instead, like when you lay on thin carpet when watching TV or something)

https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Master-Memory-Topper-Queen/dp/B00FJNQBJ2/

Also, I picked up their awesome 18" tall frame:

https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-SmartBase-Foundation-Replacement-Noise-Free/dp/B017YETH8K/

TONS of storage space underneath, easy to setup (2 pieces that screw together & fold in half, lightweight & only requires one person to assemble...literally takes more time to unbox it than put it together), no noise in use, plus with the 12" Zinus bed, it's at a good height to walk up to & fall into bed. You will need a grip sheet underneath, otherwise the bed will slide off pretty easily:

https://www.amazon.com/TRU-Lite-Bedding-Slip-Mattress/dp/B01AS3HADS

I also recommend getting a waterproof sheet (goes underneath the regular sheets), as any spills will sink directly into the foam mattress & never, ever come out:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2G9VFM/

I got these Mellanni sheets - they are thin, but feel nice:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NLNDU00

Slightly better than the Amazon Basics sheets I have on another bed. I have a plastic bin underneath the bed for storing a spare set of sheets & waterproof sheet (both are washer/dryer-safe). Total comes up to under $600 shipped for a 12" memory foam bed, 2" gel topper, 18" metal bed frame, a non-skid pad for the frame, two sets of sheets, and two waterproof mattress sheets. I was going to get a Casper or Leesa, but those were like $800 just for the bed...I got all that for $200 less, still a pretty hefty investment, but a decent deal. Other than that, you just need some pillows & a duvet or blanket on the top.

The mattress comes vacuum-sealed in a box, so you just undo it from the packaging & let it air out for a day or two to fully decompress. The frame comes in a large but thin box (two frames folded in half with some assembly hardware). I didn't have to mooch a truck off a friend or go to a mattress store or anything...ordered it all off Amazon Prime, showed up in a couple days, put it all together by myself in minutes. Easy peasy. Would definitely order another one!

Anyways onto the details. Yes it's a cheaper chair. Yes it has flaws. The arm rests get loose easy but can easily be tightened with the tool they give you. Unfortunately mine squeaks from using it when I was heavier. My fiance has one too and hers doesn't squeak at all. Get a mesh back OFFICE chair off of amazon. 150$.

This is the exact one I have. Puts together in 5 minutes even if you are an idiot. Amazingly comfortable and resilient. Good on your back and butt.

Don't waste money on some other type of chair. The only thing BETTER that you can get is something like an Aeron..but those are anywhere from 700-1500$.

Take it from the people WHO WORK IN THEM...they work.

And for that matter...dont buy anything sponsored by pro gamers.

-Want a good headset for cheap? Get a midrange sennheiser and a modmic. want something a bit better? Get a vmoda m100 crossfade with a vmoda boom mic cable.

-Dont bother with gsync monitors, they wont be around that long. There are software alternatives that are maturing quite well, and by the time you REALLY need that 144hz monitor...you wont need gsync.

-Want louder better sound? for low price get a fiio kilimanjaro 2 e11k. Want one for more expensive? get a good amp/dac, check Head-Fi(website).

-Want a good keyboard and mouse? Dont buy razer.

I use a Roccat MK pro keyboard, after going through three razer mech keyboards...they are just shit. I would recommend a Das Keyboard, But to be honest, I like the function's that gamer keyboards allow, Das doesnt really have that option. Also look up the different switch types, the actuation pressure makes a big difference.....

Good mouse? Get a Steelseries or a Zowie or a good logitech mouse(g502 or so)

-good webcam? get an actual video camera. hook it up to your computer...do research.

I repeat, the Pros get PAID to use the things they do....You do not. Do not constrain yourself to cheaply built things.
