Hi All,

A while back, I posted some phone photos of my closet turned into a makeup room and it drew some attention, I've since updated with some information. I wanted to do a good update and also update with some good photos as well. I'm not trying to brag about anything, this "makeup room" is not big, didn't cost a lot of money by any means (you will see, I've listed costs), I am merely updating some information from before. Thanks!

Edit: It's more room centered/focused and not so much makeup focused I suppose, but if you have any questions, or want close up shots of anything/makeup, just let me know!

I forgot to add the desk itself. I got it off Amazon for $52.49 and if you have Prime, shipping is free.

u/martialfarts316 · 9 pointsr/battlestations

I believe it's this chair.

u/Chango99 · 9 pointsr/battlestations

It's a Herman Miller Aeron. I'd looked for a used on craigslist since this retails around $1000.

The headrest looks like Engineered now's, which is another $150 or so. https://www.amazon.com/Engineered-Now-Headrest-Classic-Herman/dp/B005L9ATK6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1539457588&sr=8-4&keywords=herman+miller+aeron+headrest

Source: I have both.

I think it's this one OP.

Of course I'm only basing that off of seeing the rear of it in the Civilization video they did. You can see it at 41:28.

If you want a pretty cheap (price only, quality is fab) desk version I’ve had this one for years and loooove it. Thing is beast. Not real wood though. But hey, cheap.

Absolutely no prob :)

My mom reviews electronics for a living so we end up getting tons of new devices really often and generally need to find cables to match so things are being switched out and added in all the time. To make it more convenient instead of having to go sort through a box or into a drawer and untangle cables I wanted something super easy access to so that if i needed an hdmi , bam, I had one. Same with the others.

For the controllers I used Stick-On Game Controller Hooks 2 Pack. The snes and nes usb controllers are simply hung via a tack.

I got a simple ~$10 corkboard from walmart, used a label maker for the labels and then used CraZy TACKz 36tacks to hang the cables. I wouldn't recommend them though, a standard tack works better honestly ( In theory a hook is great but they loosen and then swing around making it a pain to re-orient them when you're taking things on and off frequently.)

The headphones under the desk is The Anchor Great adhesive, super cheap and can orient it vertically or horizontally which lets you fit two pair ( in my case one for skype/discord+gaming and the other for general use since it has better quality but no mic)

---
For anyone else curious about the other pieces of the set up:

the desk is Series A:72inch Desk by Bush Business Furinture.

The lights are EconoLed RGB 5M 3528 LED Strip Light 300leds

Mousepad is Reflex Lab Huge Gaming Mouse Pad

The headphones are :
SteelSeries Arctis 5
and Audio-Technica ATH-A900X

Monitors are : ASUS VN279QL and Dell U3417W FR3PK

Keyboard is : Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma

Mouse is : Razer Naga Hex v2

Ha! it's an older chair, so the closest thing I can find is this Alera Elusion Series Mesh Mid-Back Swivel/Tilt Chair, Black: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003G4OJK4/ref=dp_cerb_2

u/jcskifter · 5 pointsr/battlestations

I am the proud owner of two Herman-Miller Aeron chairs (don't be fooled, you can really only use one at a time) and they are very comfortable and highly adjustable. That said, there's one complaint. For my height 5'11", the way my head lands on the back of the chair is extremely uncomfortable. I solved this by purchasing aftermarket add-on head rests that matches the styling of my chairs. Those too are adjustable and end up being the perfect upgrade from a business chair to a battle-ready captain's chair. I truly find this much more ergonomic than one of the racing style 'gaming' chairs.

u/Micrafone_AssAssin · 5 pointsr/medicalschool

If you can't find a Herman Miller Aeron 2nd hand I would recommend this Lorell executive chair from [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0074GX2YE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with the extra [headrest] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P85C6OU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I did a ton of research on best bang for the buck chairs at the beginning of med school and after looking through tons of reviews, this one seemed to have the most people who were satisfied years after purchase while fitting within my sub-200 budget.

I've sat it in everyday studying for >8 hours for almost 2 years now and it's still as comfortable as day 1. The seat and arm cushions haven't worn down at all. The mesh backing has stayed taut and is very breathable. The headrest is super comfortable. The adjustments are solid and it has a great recline. Set up is easy too. Obviously this is no Aeron but if you don't want to go 2nd hand, I think this is a fantastic option.

u/SolarBarge · 4 pointsr/battlestations

Looks like a lazyboy office chair.

Edit: AmazonBasics Big & Tall Executive Chair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DN7NFRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Nb0OBb0CJB8XK

u/caffpowered · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Reddit liked my last battlestation, so I decided to post my new, more portable solution.

My new battlestation was made under slightly more constraints. Everything I own fits into a single suitcase, as I moved to a New York City for work. When I got here, I found that my two laptops made a very unergonomic and uncomfortable workstation. TO remedy that problem, I sourced a few parts of Amazon.

I bought a stand for my tablet, two laptop stands meant for DJs, a wireless mouse and keyboard and a kneeling chair. Everything breaks down and fits into my suitcases except for the chair, which I would probably leave behind if I am forced to move again.

The tablet is used as a TV. I use it to watch documentaries, shows streamed from youtube, hulu, netflix or thepiratebay. The internal speakers on the tablet are a bit quiet, so I have them streaming to a Logitech UE Boom Mini. I've owned the two laptops since starting university - a Lenovo x200, and a x201 I bought a few years later to replace the x200 when it stopped detecting a battery. They're both pretty old now, but the x201 still manages to play league of legends (barely). The x200 (right) is hooked up to a set of Steelseries Siberia v3 headphones that I use for skype, or music / shows when my roommates are watching something else on the big TV, or are having loud sex. A small and surprisingly weak fan is constantly plugged in and does do a bit to keep me cool. I'll have to revisit the cooling solution when summer hits again.

I've considered upgrading the laptops, but then I figured I shouldn't be spending a lot of time inside gaming anyways. Instead, I bought a new snowboard for the upcoming season.

Great tips, I ended up buying this chair and I recommend it to anyone due to how adjustable it is:
Alera ALEEL41ME10B Elusion Series... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0049UCECE?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf $187 currently, I bought mine open box for less and it has no problems.

And this headrest bolts right on:
Lorell Hi-Back Chair Mesh... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P85C6OU?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf $12.75 currently

I’m 6’ 1” 170lbs and this chair has all of the adjustments anyone could want and is very comfortable and supportive. I used to exacerbate sciatic nerve pain in my leg and hip when I’d sit in my old cheap office chair, it doesn’t hurt in this chair.

See Camel3 for more price information and to track it if you need to wait for a deal, my open box purchase was just a damaged packaging, but they come in once in awhile: https://camelcamelcamel.com/Alera-ALEEL41ME10B-Elusion-High-Back-Multifunction/product/B0049UCECE?context=search

u/Arvaci · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I actually attached this headrest to my chair and it works really great. Proper position and adjustability.

I did have to drill holes since the pre-drilled holes on the chair didn't align with the holes on the headset. But it certainly beats paying an extra $150.

I am 6'5" and rock this chair. I can't really put my head back on it, maybe a gaming chair could do that. But the back support and comfort is amazing. It has adjustable lumbar.

u/throttlekitty · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I bought one of these last year, and I'm happy with it. I opted not to get the armrests that swivel out and kind of wish I did. The seat and back don't unlock for a full backward tilt, so I can't do that lean back with a controller thing like i could with other chairs.

If you're able, check with your local office supply stores that aren't major chains, though those aren't terrible (best buy, office max etc). I found a place that does their own work alongside being an office supply, so they're using all the products they're showcasing. I couldn't afford most of their high end stuff, but ended up talking with practically everyone there and trying out a bunch of neat sit-stand desks.

Anyway, I learned the salesman as a dealer can customize some parts of the order instead of the usual pret-a-portier orders. Some manufacturers have this on their own sites, but you tend to pay a higher premium. Or the salesman's commission in my case, but I don't mind since I went for advice on a chair and got plenty. (well this ended up being a longer post than I meant)

u/wakwakwakwakwak · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

My first recommendation would be to search Craigslist. I purchased awesome, super expensive chairs on the cheap...Humanscale Freedom and Steelcase Leap for $100 or less each! The big brands you should look for are Herman Miller, Steelcase, Humanscale, and Knoll. There are probably other great brands and chairs, but that should be a good starting point.

If you don't find anything, Amazon actually has a few chairs that are <$200 and are pretty good. The AmazonBasics chair (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=chair) has good reviews. I personally have the Alera Elusion (http://www.amazon.com/Alera-Elusion-Series-Mid-Back-Multifunction/dp/B003G4OJK4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage), which also has good reviews. It's not as fancy as the Humanscale or Steelcase, but they're definitely comfortable and gets the job done.

u/clawedjird · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I recently bought this and have been pleased with it so far.

The Alera Elusion is also recommended pretty frequently.

u/Ryan_for_you · 2 pointsr/Entrepreneur

Huge fan of this chair below. It was the only chair my dad would buy for the employees at his former workplace. He recommended I buy one so I did. I used to have it at home but I took it to work because our chairs were trash. Thinking about buying another for home. I sit in it for 8-11 hours a day and I’m always comfortable.

Not an Aeron, but I highly recommend this one below. It's really well built, and has more levers than a jet cockpit. I've purchased 6 of them for different people / different offices and they all love them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003G4OJK4

And yeah South Coast Auction is great too. Sometime hit or miss though. Check back

u/jc9289 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Nah, it's this one. The Galant is great though, but I bought this desk in my older, smaller, apartment, and this was the size desk I needed. Compact but very serviceable.

u/iShad · 2 pointsr/battlestations

https://www.amazon.com/Headrest-Herman-Miller-Aeron-Chair/dp/B005L9ATK6

A bit expensive for what it is, but so much more comfy.

u/Rhaeserys · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Could I post a question here about what office chair to get for ergonomic chair with lumbar support? If I can ask it; I need it for health reasons, my therapist said I need a better chair for my back and neck but I am having issues finding something that won't be trash and a waste of my limited money.

I found this on Amazon after filtering to good reviews but again, I have no experience in this whatsoever. My budget is $160-170 but I think if I really can't find anything good below $200 I might be able to push to that.

You can probably get these all online, but Lowe's was cheaper.

2 x 3.5" tarp hooks - https://www.lowes.com/pd/National-Hardware-Tarp-Hook/1000490357

2 x 1/4-20 nuts - just check the assorted nuts area

2 x 1/4-28 nuts - just check the assorted nuts area

2 x 1/4" Fender Washer - just check the assorted nuts area

2 x furniture glides with 1/4-20 threading - the ones I got at lowe's were Softtouch 4603695LW just look in the area where the other furniture felt bottoms etc are, I used these for reference (can't find the lowe's listing online) https://www.amazon.com/SoftTouch-Leveling-Glides-Straight-Furniture/dp/B001W6Q4U6

The tarp hooks are just the right height that when you mount the headrest to the lower holes and slip the hooks under the back, the top holes pop just above the chair allowing you to attach the glides to hold it steady from the top of the chair with tension.

Headrest comes with 2 screws, use those to attach to the tarp hook with fender washer + the 1/4-28 nuts, hook into back, then attach the glides and nut them into place as well.

Guy on amazon reviews suggested it, and it worked out very wel. You can't adjust the depth of the headrest, which is the only complaint I would leverage, but I feel it's at a fine position, and you can easily move it up and down while attached. Overall it's a way cheaper alternative to the other ones designed 'for' an Aeron

This is something I've had to deal with myself, as I had an office chair for my desk at home that I bought from an estate sale for like $30. After a few years the padding was worn out and I needed to buy a new chair. I went to all the local office supply stores and sat in everything I could. If you spend less than $100 the comfort is basically garbage. $200-$300 you start getting some more comfort but most of them are still pretty ugly or really not even that great.

I originally ordered the mesh high back, but the back really wasn't that high and it was absolutely aweful in terms of comfort, had to take it apart after putting it all together (not fun) and try to fit it back in the box (also not fun) in order to return it. I then order this back in January. Half the price of the name brand chairs but pretty decent still. It did have an odor that has mostly gone away, its pretty well built, rolls great, and for comfort I'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10. I've noticed the longer I've used it, it's starting to feel a little wobbly on the base, but not enough to worry, just enough to think "do I need to invest in a new chair in a year or so?" I wish it came with a pillow for either lumbar support or the neck. You can tell the actual seat is probably molded plastic and is not comfortable for sitting cross legged. Looking at the DX Racer/Maxnomic their bucket style seating doesn't look to be as extreme. I also got it for about $30 less than what it's listed for now.

Final conclusion (tldr): If you want a new quality chair that will last and be comfortable you are going to probably have to spend $300 plus regardless if it's an office chair or "gaming" chair. If you are going to spend over $200 on a chair invest in something you know is well regarded and quality. I will definitely buy Maxnomic as my next chair because even spending $200 I feel the quality is still lacking for the price point. The fact that I can get it with the C9 logo is just icing on the cake.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.

I woulda been fine continuing to use that but I had to move back in with my parents and my mom hates the PU leather pieces getting all over the house when it wears out.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good office chair? Need to pick one up for when I start working from home
This is what I've picked out at the moment
I love the high back - I'm 6'5" so that would be great for me. But I'm all ears if anyone has a better suggestion!

u/toastman42 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Man, what I have found in my search is comfortable, quality-made chairs are practically mutually exclusive with highly adjustable chairs.

The best-reviewed closest equivalent I've seen to your old chair is this AmazonBasics Big & Tall Executive Chair.

If you really want something with a tilting back, adjustable armrests, etc there is the the DXRacer Boss Series which is styled a little closer to a traditional office chair than the rest of DXRacer's lineup and is the big-and-tall variant of the DXRacer Elite Series chair. Of course, caveat emptor about gaming chairs.

u/nextBert · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I've been using L shaped desks for a few years and like them. My mouse arm sits on the part of the table to my right so my entire arm is on a flat surface. The keyboard it the only tricky part, but is perfectly fine if there is a keyboard shelf directly under the front of the desk.

It's not exactly what you asked for, but might be interesting.

Only the second one has a key board shelf, but these are all under 100.

Well it depends, do you just want a good starter desk or something you can use for a good length of time without feeling like you have to get another one?Personally I have a rather small desk I thought I would like but have come to realise leaves me wishing for more space for my mouse, keyboard and assorted desk decorations (a few figures mainly). An L shape desk can be great for this https://www.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Soreno-3-Piece-Corner/dp/B001FB5LE8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1494868308&sr=8-6&keywords=desk

There's a few more options you can find on amazon just by searching desk. I hope this was helpful.

It is sort of custom I guess.

The top is from IKEA:

And the bottom is from my old desk. The cheap particle board it comes with is just screwed on, so it is an easy and quick job.

What's the rough size you are looking for? Anyway, given your criteria these are probably the choices I would go with. They should all have free shipping.

55" x 55" x 24" L-Shape - $143.99

55" x 23.6" Desk, looks a little higher quality - $139.99

33 7/8 " x 19.5" x 23 5/8" - L-Shape, Keyboard Drawer, little shelf - $109.00

'47-71" x 35.5" x 29.5" - Office Style Desk - $188.05

71.5" x 23.25" - Table top - NO legs - $35.00

28" hairpin table legs - 4 pack - $59.99

Also check out Home Depot or a hardware store/lumber yard maybe. They often sell table tops and counter tops, all you would need is legs.

What is the size of your desk now? I cant comment of the ducky but yes 60% layout is sweet and its hard for me to use anything bigger at this point because I hate the look of a big keyboard on my desk. I use a 55 inch by 23 inch desk and its plenty for me. I like a large desk but minimalist look with not much on desk. Not sure if these will help, but here's an article of a few stretches you can try.

Anecdotally, here are things I do to make my lower back feel good:

  1. Sleep with a pillow between my legs. I convinced my boyfriend to do this and he wonders why he hasn't been doing it all his life.

  2. Switch to a more ergonomic chair at work. The one I have looks something like this. I've also tried a fitness ball, but found that to be too distracting and a little short for my desk. I'm also considering to changing to a standing computer setup (an elevated work station in which I stand the whole day rather than sit), but that's a bit more of a commitment than a $60 chair.

  3. At home, on a carpeted surface or some sort of fitness mat, lay down and hug your knees to your chest. Now slowly rock side to side and in a circular motion, making sure to put a little pressure on your lower back. This releases so much tension for me.

  4. When looking for stretches, look for ones that "open up" the hips and stretch out your hip flexor muscles such as these.
u/Furryhen · 1 pointr/pics

I have a kneeling chair that I love. Mine is from the 80's, but it's something like this and it is surprisingly comfortable.

u/kachapati · 1 pointr/AskDocs

I'll wear a lightweight scarf, loosely hanging down the front, which kind of obscures the view. Seriously, whenever I've noticed someone staring it's always a woman with a judgey look on her face!

See if you can find a chair that looks like this to try. If it seems comfortable and your boss won't buy it, ask if you can get one to bring in.

u/oi_rohe · 1 pointr/Competitiveoverwatch

I have a kneeling chair which I don't always use because it does make my legs sore quickly but I feel like I play better in it than a normal chair

u/only_a_name · 1 pointr/ChronicPain

Sure...I think the first one I got was this one and I just bought this one, just because it was a little less ugly.
: )
They are cheaper than I remember, actually! I think they are both equally good. I also tried this one, which I didn't like because the padding was too thick--it just didn't quite work with my body type--but it might be good for someone larger.

I'd definitely recommend trying one, especially at these prices--using one really made a difference for me. It takes a few days to get used to it--your knees might hurt in the beginning, but that stops after a short time, especially if you take breaks, and also your back muscles may need to learn how to support your body, but that's a good thing. Overall I think the chair essentially forces you to have good posture, and that's huge for most types of back pain

u/DarthContinent · 1 pointr/AskReddit

If you're a fan of good posture, one of these works great, but if you get one invest in some additional padding or you'll eventually hate having sore shins all day.

u/metamet · 1 pointr/ProgrammerHumor

Series A 72W Desk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W8I1D8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_a2bvzb3NE03SC

Where we live now we dont really have as much extra space to have separate desks without changing too much up so this works well. Both of our 2nd monitors are mounted using a wall arm since it wouldnt be practical to have dual monitors on the desk for both of us.

I love it! So much space and the cable management is a piece of cake with the built in cord channel. I got it for $200 shipped with Amazon Prime.

u/OMGitsDSypl · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm gonna triple mount 3 Asus VG248QE monitors (24" screen, each 22.5"wide), and I'm unsure about what mounts I should use. I was eyeing this triple monitor mount, but I don't know if it will perfectly fit my monitors or allow me to curve them inward enough. This is a big deal for me since I want to have three monitors and my tower (9" wide) on my desk (72"), and curving the outer two monitors will make everything fit with ease. That being said, I was also thinking about getting 3 of these single monitor mounts which seem to be cheaper. The only cons I can think of with this is that initial set up will be a drag and the cable management will be less appealing. I assume this method would allow for more freedom with a single monitor, so I'll be able to save more space on my desk and rotate monitors with ease. I'm sorta leaning towards the latter option, but I could really use a second opinion- Should I get the 3x mount or 3 1x mounts? Is there a recommended alternative anyone can vouch for that won't kill my wallet?

This isn't specifically a PC question, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent chair for both PC gaming and console gaming(where you sit a little further back and want to lean backwards a little).

I've been looking at this one after reading some recommendations, but my only problem with it is there isn't any kind of headrest part. I'm not looking for anything fancy, but just something reliable(my current chair has leather peeling off and slowly sinks by itself, forcing me to constantly pull the lever and raise it).

I managed to get about... $35 in gift cards from here, then my husband chucked in his christmas giftcard, which was $40. Then I opted for the "Damaged box" but everything is still there, no scratches instead of the pristine never been shipped sewing machine which saved me another $40. When all was said and done, springing for overnight shipping, I got my machine for roughly $224 instead of $330. She works fantastic as well :D All the accessories that came with it to be quilt specific :D

So now I'm saving for a desk for it. It's just a 50 dollar desk, but still saving for it. The TV tray that the sewing machine sits on barely contains my new machine and if I want to use the extension table I have to put it on the floor, take off the pedal and use the stop start button. Little awkward. Be a far sight better than my leg folding card table that's concave and when I sew, the machine rocks.

Also WOOT CAMERA! I may have to help you next paycheck!

Do you want one specifically without a drawer? This is similar, but has a drawer and doesn't overhang the legs. Otherwise, and if you're not so fussed about it being completely black, this desk looks alright. Should be the same dimensions as this desk, but the images look a little different. u/oonooneoo · 1 pointr/minipainting

I use a small flat-pack desk. It's not great but does the job and doesn't take up too much of my one-bedroom apartment. I've also used a drafting table in the past. They're nice because you can usually adjust the height and they've got a lot of surface area. Quality ones are quite expensive though and the surface area actually tends to be larger than you can use ergonomically. You'll end up not able to reach the opposite edge comfortably because they're designed to be used in a vertical or slanted orientation, which you really can't do while working on figures.

If I had space for it, I'd probably invest in an L-shaped computer workstation and adjust the height by adding furniture risers. They're inexpensive and offer plenty of workspace. Spend more on the chair. A quality chair is really valuable if you're going to spend hours sitting.

Can someone please comment on the following chairs?

I currently use the Staples Torrent, but after spending the past two months in it for more than 12 hours/day studying, I realized that I can't do that anymore. It needs to go. My shoulders and back hunch forward and my thighs start to hurt after a bit as well. It was great in the beginning--granted I never sat this long for such an extended period of time--but now it's just aggravating.

I don't want leather/"leather" anymore. I need ventilation. Mesh only. I wish someone had told me this sooner.

I'm looking at this from Amazon (Lorell LLR86200 or its newer variant (actually, based on the reviews it might be a different model style entirely) the LLR86205. The first chair in particular has a significantly number of positive reviews.

From Office Depot, we have the Realspace Pro Quantum 9000 Series that was recommended previously by a redditor. Lots of reviews on the site, but also much more expensive as it's $279 from them.

From Staples, the Staples branded Hyken which has favorable reviews and the Acadia, but some people have commented about it not being great for sitting too long.

Lastly, I just discovered Madison Seating from a redditor comment, but I have never heard of it nor know why their prices are significantly lower than the competition. For example, the Herman Miller Mirra at $499 or the Leap Steelcase v2 at $575.

I just want something that will not cause me pain anymore.

For the most part, my budget from Amazon is $250 (max). If it's something that costs a little bit more, that'd be OK--it'll eventually go on sale and I can pick it up at the lower price.

Everywhere else (Staples/OD/etc) it's a budget of $150-200 if at all possible.

If it's for one of the higher end chairs (e.g., from Madison Seating), I'd really have to think about it and see if the jump from any of the listed chairs makes a difference.

EDIT: Online review of Madison Seating show that they take used chairs, refurb them, and then sell as new. I'll skip that retailer.

I ride a Herman Miller Aeron at work, and nothing else really compares. But fuck me if I'm gonna spend $500+ on chairs for the house ... I've found Lorell Executives to be an excellent value and a great chair (adjustable, super ergonomic, good size) for long hours on the computer. When I was looking for a good chair I thought about the DX Racer. I really wanted one but looking back I'm kind of glad I didn't get one they seemed a bit to exaggerated. I ended up getting one from amazon, that to this day I really like. it's kind of big and "bulky" but pretty damn comfortable where I can easily sit in every night for 5+ hours.

A big problem I think is that DX Racers are mostly given to streamers/youtubers for free or at a very discounted price and one can't complain about something free.

I ordered this one off Amazon for $99 and free shipping. It won't arrive until tomorrow but looks promising based on reviews.

If anyone owns this chair I'd love to hear your opinions on it and know how it's held up after some daily use.

Reasoning for this parts list:

  • The i5 7500 is a great chip for both gaming and content creation, as it packs plenty of power under the hood without being extremely expensive like an i7. If you can fit an i7 into the budget after all your peripherals are decided on, however, go for it.

  • In this case, a CPU cooler is really unnecessary because that particular CPU is locked. I've added in the Hypoer T2 because it'll be quieter than the stock cooler, but if you're okay with the extra noise, you can drop it and save another $20 for your peripherals.

  • Motherboard chipsets don't really affect performance unless you're an overclocker. It doesn't seem like you'll need more than just peripheral attachments and the usual ethernet compatibility, so this B250 board will do the job without breaking the bank.

  • 16gb DDR4-3000 memory- This is probably the best value option I could find on PCP. 16gb is plenty of capacity for doing video editing, and definitely will be fast enough at 3000mhz.

  • Grabbed a 240gb SSD for use as a boot drive and for program access (games and editing software, in your case). This will chop your load times significantly and make your computer feel much more responsive than loading off a hard drive. Also noteworthy: If you have a preference towards a specific brand, most 240gb SSD's are around this price mark, so this one is more or less a placeholder.

  • Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm drive- 2TB, as requested, with a 64mb cache for slightly faster retrieval of commonly used files. Also, this one is made by one of the two hard drive giants in the industry and has a very good reputation as a reliable drive.

  • Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce- This GPU will obliterate games, and provide ample power for rendering and for pushing the listed 1440p monitor.

  • SeaSonic G-750 PSU- SeaSonic's brand name is all about high quality and reliability. This PSU will last you years to come while having very good energy efficiency (this will reduce heat output and electricity costs significantly). This particular model is semi-modular, meaning that peripheral power cords like SATA and PCI-E 6/8 pin connectors aren't hard wired into the unit- you can remove them if you're not using them. This makes for an easier build and a cleaner looking case if you opt for a side window panel.

  • LG 34UC79G- This one was a bit harder to find something I'd approve of. Of course, at 1080p, it's not the highest resolution, but it is capable of displaying up to 144fps. If framerate is less important than resolution, there are other 1440p monitors available closer to 75hz that will do just as nicely, for about the same price.

  • I didn't budget in a copy of Windows 10 because it can be downloaded for free and run unlicensed without holding your computer hostage (you just lose some customization features like wallpapers and stuff). If you want a legit copy, you can purchase a key for about $110 retail or $90 for an OEM key.

  • EDIT: Ended up cherry-picking the ASUS PB227Q 27" monitor from Ye_untaken_username's build, because higher resolution and lower price. The monitor I'd previously specced is nice but overkill for someone who's not a hardcore gamer.

  • Also added in a Fractal Define Mini C because they're nice, and small, without requiring an ITX board that will have you spend 2x more on the motherboard. If you want a bigger case, you can get a Core 2300 for even less than this case, just without some of the nicer features of this one.

I didn't add in a case and peripherals because those are highly subjective- at the end of the day, what works for my hands might not for yours. This build leaves about $550 CAD in the budget for a keyboard, mouse, headset, desk and chair- it's not enough for the very best of all of those, but it should make your goal attainable.

If you need more budget for the last few periphery items, you can drop down to this 1070 and open up another $250.

If your budget for the desk/chair/keyboard/mouse/headset is significantly less than $550, I would get this Core i7 7700 CPU for $400, over the i5 7500 for $260. You'll dip into your peripheral budget by about $140 but notice better editing power over the i5.

    EDIT 2:

I found these for about another $600 more. It'll be tight, but I think this pretty accurately represents what one might spend on these parts.

I searched on Amazon for L Shaped Desk and found a whole bunch of options. Many under $100. I linked to one I thought was a great price.
How it works is you order the item you like and they will ship it to you and then you put it together yourself using very basic tools. Like a Phillips screw driver and sometimes a hammer.

I also went to Walmart.com and searched L shaped desk and found this one below. Walmart offers free shipping when the item is over $25 so getting from Walmart (or even target.com) will be the best option. Shipping is pretty quick in my experience. The desks I've found so far all look like they will be easy to assemble. Also, most of the results are available in multiple finishes (wood/black etc) so make sure you select the option you want.

Sorry if my links are wacky, I'm on mobile.

I'm 5'11" and about 210. Usually I can get a year out of a chair before it goes to hell. This one I bought two years ago and still love it as much as the day I bought it.

It's really comfy and has lots of adjustments to fit your sitting style.
I bought an attachable headrest for it as well the link is below.

Very nice, wish I could justify owning one on top of a nice PC. Already love my surface book so much.

I think I can see a Lorell chair there, I recently got this headrest for it and am very happy with it compared to the plain hard plastic top. https://www.amazon.com/Lorell-Hi-Back-Chair-Headrest-Black/dp/B00P85C6OU/

u/MarzMan · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have a Lorell which is pretty good except for the hydraulic piston which I replaced with a larger one. The mesh is very durable and fairly comfortable.

Just looking, amazon has some cheap mesh chairs and they look to be highly rated. Seat padding looks sub-par but the flip up arms is an awesome feature.

These types are the gold standard gaming chair but they are made for a specific body type and I don't fit that mold even remotely, I'm far too tall and wide for them so I've never even wanted to try them out. This is most likely a knockoff brand. DXRacer is the one brand I've looked at, they've been around a few years.

u/deadprezrepresentme · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Eyeing the Staple Hyken. Thoughts on mesh? Is it comfortable enough on the seat? I've only ever had padded seats before.

And what about something like this?

u/jcNils · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I prefer something that comes through Amazon like FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) than FBM (by merchant)
but the knock off seems more expensive

It also seems that thechair you posted never went on black Friday sale.

For 200 CAD I would go with the armlets Ikea JÄRVFJÄLLET.

Some people mentioned before about paying great prices on some top office chairs if you look for used, but in the city I am living is kind of hard to find them in stock on the design stores, and I never saw they listed on kijiji here.

AmazonBasics Big & Tall Executive Chair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DN7NFRG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wwMeAbE76DQWM most cheap chairs will fall apart after a few months in my experience

u/mirkalieve · 1 pointr/gundeals

As someone who's tuned into deal sites: Yes, to some degree. But there's still plenty of good deals to be had. Especially when things don't go as planned. Don't you remember last year's Xbox One debacle? We're talking a free xbox one, and possibly additional credit, on top of extra controllers and games.

I also apparently got 24 bottles of VOSS Norwegian water this year for $3, and that stuff is supposed fancy or something. Ordered that for giggles.

Someone else got a Mini Segway for $160 iirc.

I nabbed one of their Big & Tall (up to 350lb) Office Chairs for $100, which isn't bad.

As for Prime Pantry? For some reason I keep getting a Fresh Credit of $6, no idea why, and that stacks with the $10 off $60 credit, so I can find some choice pantry items that are decently priced and get $16 off, and stack it with free shipping. And that's on top of the 5% off with my Amazon Store Card. I did four full orders, and my mail person hates me now.

Prime Day is not Black Friday. Black Friday is a day of both Purchases of Opportunity and Planned Purchases, due to general price cuts on everything (To some degree... Cyber Monday and beyond is where it's at currently at based off last year). Prime Day is only Purchases of Opportunity, as the thing you've wanted probably won't go on sale, but chances are if you check the deal sites enough you'll find things that you'll buy anyway because they're cheap enough.

Sidenote: This is what you guys should being paying attention to: Lowe's 10% off, which stacks with 10% Self-generated coupon codes (see top comment), which stacks with 7.5% cashback through ebates.

u/clupean · 1 pointr/buildapc

From my experience office chairs are better for people who sit all day but they're not meant to make you feel confy to the point of falling asleep, you're supposed to be working on them. Gaming chairs are more confy but only during the first ~2-3 hours then they're not so confy anymore. Gaming chairs also deteriorate faster if you use them all day as if they were office chairs. One isn't better than the other, they're just for differente use cases. There are $200 confy office chairs as well, but they're often just gaming chairs disguised as executive chairs.

Has anyone ever had to shop for a 20" deep/wide desk? I'm trying to find one that's about 50-54" long, but it's next to impossible to find one at that length that's not 24" deep or more; I'd like to find one that's basic and black, too, which compounds the issue even further.

Something that's akin to this that wasn't 23.6" deep would hit the spot, so I'm hoping someone here might've had to buy a desk of that size, themselves, and can point me towards a good place to find them. I feel like I've spent hours upon hours over the last month trying to find something! I'd be nice if more sites had an easier way to filter results.

thought about the butcherblock.. but stuff like that doesn't come treated. I didn't have the time/space to do all that. I wasn't confident that the ikea top was going to support my tower to well. I noticed my, then, glass desk had a tiny bow in it.. so I was eager to find a replacement.

It felt silly to buy a piece of wood sturdy enough to hold a computer, cut it, stain it, wax or otherwise protect it for more than buying this desk. The frame is metal The top is covered in a vinyl but is like a sturdy hybrid/mesh concoction. The sides can scrape easily if you're not careful.

If you need to move your computer frequently, but want to game, that's what gaming laptop are good at.

If you want to keep someone from casually walking off with it you lock it to something with a kensington cable.

You can buy regular desks that fold flat:
https://www.amazon.com/Writing-Computer-Industrial-Folding-Notebook/dp/B06XZV3F8F

Though even with this, with shipping costs, might be easiest to simply order a new desk at your destination and throw out (I mean donate) the previous one.

Just some ideas to pass by.
