Interesting! I hope it works out for you. I solved the JK hood flutter issue by getting the stronger Daystar rubber bands, like these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019QJI2QY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Any time. Since you said it's a pos tuck I can recommend These as they are foolproof and work great. If you do care about looks though I run these locking aerocatches and they also work great, just a lot more expensive.

Ordering my Mopar pins from amazon through Steve White Motors.

They look like the rugged ridge ones to me. The set on Amazon have the silver hardware.

Oh the plug at the top of the grill is a Mopar hood lock. It programs to match the ignition. It's one of the first things I added. Hope to keep my parts, my parts.

These are the ones I got. You can find ones that are wayy cheaper than this, but I read good reviews, so I went with these.

People also call them racing pins. Basically you cut holes in your hood, and screw these in. Then you use the metal piece and screw it to the frame somewhere in your engine bay so that it lines up with the plastic clips. You can get ones that lock with a key, or just the clips.

Here is how my car looks with them. Sorry, old picture, but you can sorta get the idea. I'm sure there's some better pictures if you google it.

I got these ones (or similar). I did have someone else install them though haha, that was out of my skill range

If you want to do some slight hood modifications you can install some lockable hood pins. This is a more expensive kit, but you get the idea....

Buy some Daystar brand replacements to get rid of the hood flutter. They're cheap, and replace the rubber portion with poly for longevity.

It's a repair kit, it's not like buying completely new latches, just the worn out middle pieces

I bought these to eliminate the hood from bouncing, but they lock up tight. Just don't lose the keys or you'll be buying another set.

If you want junk, theres cheaper, but i used to build prototype vehicles, & these are very nice prop rods. They hold alot of weight without jamming & have anti slip bumpers on the end so they dont scratch paint. They also telescope to be very long & dont take up much room when not in use.

I got mine 3 years ago, for like half this much, so amazon might be overpriced atm, but even at $100 they are worth every penny.

u/n00bCrusher · 1 pointr/ft86

Yeah my hood latch still works. You would have to go into my car and unlock the hood latch. they also sell them with a lock, but it seemed unlock necessary for me lol.

u/robertlandrum · 1 pointr/CherokeeXJ

Hood pins. The inside latch and cable mechanism is terrible. A good set of hood pins is what I tell all my XJ friends. Worth every penny, and they only cost about $15.

Mine did the same thing. Bought these hood pins and absolutely love them. They also look badass. Angled mine a bit for max effect.

Chrome plated hood pins for $8.70 on Amazon, just like on my old Nova SS.
